One World: Many Souls
Chapter 16: The Next Generation
Angel's Point of View:
"Happy birthday, Precious."
I yawned as I sat up in bed on a relaxing day. My twenty-third birthday had come around and it was to be a wonderful day. Both my birthday and Halloween all at the same time meant lots of candy and sweets, which I knew the little ones that grew in my abdomen liked. One of them was a wild child who always loved to kick and demand food quite often. The other was much more quiet and subtle about things.
It always was a party when waking up in the morning.
"Thank you, Darling." Blinking away the sleep in my eyes, I looked carefully over at the man I married where he already had a tray of food in his hands for me. "What in the world is this?"
"Breakfast in bed."
It was placed in front of me before I could say a word.
"Gotta keep yer strength up for the kids. And its yer special day."
I rolled my eyes. "You spoil me rotten."
"Meh, I try."
Though I knew that Sans hovering closely was also a bit of fear on his part. My babies due date had been almost a week ago, but nothing had yet happened. I was blown up massively from carrying them and had been reduced to bed rest. A lot of my duties were put on hold while I took care of more important things.
It had me worried as I watched my sister in the last few months. She wasn't a fan of me finally being home for any amount of time when I wasn't visiting friends or doctor's appointments. Even if it had been one of the things she had said herself that she wanted so badly in our most recent argument.
I set aside time for my sister. She scowled and wasn't as involved as she used to be since I took away many of her privileges. She kept acting sour about how I wasn't giving Luke chances. Her punishment for that Sans took on himself that she was forced to stay home and keep me company after school during these last few months to prove that she could be trusted and reasonable. If she showed a reasonable improvement, he'd lift the bans she had which had been extended for the time being due to her nasty attitude.
Though it was also our way of seeing if we could bring her back to her senses… We even had Alphys do a scan of her at the same time as me to show if magic was being used on her, though at the time the radar used showed nothing.
This still worried us, since Alphys did mention that some magic can be turned off and on. And if feelings develop, sometimes it can continue what the magic is no longer doing in some rare cases.
Frisk, in the beginning, seemed to loath spending time with me. The first week she hardly came out of her room other than to sulk and glare at me. I ignored her for the first part and just spent most of my time organizing the babies' rooms or making snacks. I was constantly hungry.
And it was her stomach that pushed her back in my direction.
At first, she would just hover in the doorway watching me make some sort of high calory snack and inhale them all. I'd watch her, eating the food slowly to see if she would pop out and try to swipe it like she used to as a kid. I actually was more frustrated at the fact that she didn't. Instead, I had to be the big person and invite her out of hiding to join me in my adventures among the kitchen appliances.
It took time among the last couple of months. A few weeks before she'd talk to me. Then she'd start asking basic questions. At least there was a meager amount of communication between us. Within a month, she slowly began to help me with cooking and baking like she used to in the past. I was even surprised one day when she stole the brown sugar from me to satisfy her sweet tooth while we baked together. The look on her face when I caught her was an angry nervous sort of style.
But all I could do was smile then. She was coming back even a little, I really hoped she did.
There was no way for me to separate her from Luke entirely without pulling her out of school. Or in a very rare case, demand that he be pulled from the school. I still didn't have the proof to do anything of that nature to him.
Even if I was still searching…
"So, do I dare ask what the plan is today? I honestly was a bit preoccupied to worry about my birthday much."
"No worries, Precious. Got a whole day of fun 'n goodies for ya. Made sure the decorations were out, candies bagged up and go ta go for the treaters tonight." A gentle bump to my forehead I felt from him. "Plannin' on goin' ta Al's for a check up on the kids, celebrate with everyone, 'n I think Al may wanna see about inducin' ya soon. She's… a bit worried since yer late."
"I know… I am too…" I sighed, taking a few bites just to feel a good wham to my side. "But I guess we don't have to worry too much. They're awake and kicking me just fine, telling me to eat."
That eased some of the worry in Sans' eye sockets. "Good."
With a creek sounding behind my husband, he and I turned to look and see my sister standing there quietly in the doorway. Much like a little kid not sure if it was okay to approach. She stood there silently with our eyes on her.
"Frisk? You can come in if you want, honey."
My sister paused, staying quiet before she slowly made her way forward. Quietly she pulled out a small box from behind her back that was wrapped poorly. Though I was still elated regardless of that just to know that she was thinking of me.
"…Happy birthday."
"Thank you!" It really brightened my day to see her interacting a bit more with us, though I saw there was a bit of a hesitance in her eyes. "Frisk? Are you alright?"
"I'm fine…"
I wasn't sure if it had anything to do with Luke or not. Other than her eyes looking a little dull, everything else about her seemed fine. Skin was perfectly healthy, in fact it looked like she'd just got done with a shower bright and early. It was rare to see her up much before seven if she could avoid it, but I had a feeling Papyrus or Sans may have woken her up.
"Did you get enough sleep last night? Didn't you say a big project was coming up for school?"
"Not… as much as normal…"
"Alright then, let me eat breakfast and get cleaned up and we'll get over to Alphys and Undyne's place and you can take a nap. We can set aside some good food for you and a couple of slices of cake for later. Okay?"
"I… don't want to be rude to Al and Undyne… couldn't I just stay here?"
I frowned at that. It made me worried she'd try to sneak out. I had no idea if she'd done it already in the past or if this was a first-time offence, so for that reason as well as if she actually wasn't feeling well, I didn't want her by herself.
"Nonsense. If you're condition gets worse, someone should be nearby to check on you here and there. You know the two of them won't mind. Okay?"
Frisk didn't even try to argue at that point. From either tiredness or disappointment, she took off back down the stairs toward either her room or the first floor. I wasn't sure where while looking back at my husband.
"Ya think she was tryin' ta sneak out?"
"I'm not sure, I but don't want to take the chance. She looks okay, other than her eyes."
Sans hummed loudly, finger to his boney chin. "Hopefully we can get ta the bottom of this, Precious. Maybe have Al take another look at 'er while she's sleepin'/"
I nodded slowly. "I'd really appreciate if she could."
Later That Day:
"Oh, happy birthday, my dear Angel!"
"Tori! Its so good to see you! And Asgore! Asriel! You both came!"
"By golly, Angel. Why wouldn't we come see a dear friend on her birthday?"
The small party of close friends and family was just getting to its maximum size. At least twenty people had gathered for our celebration. It was more of a private gathering. Normally other house members like to put on lavish large parties, Gram was almost going to make one. That was until, I begged her not to with the little ones being born soon and I really didn't want to share my birthday with all the stuffy suits I dealt with on a daily basis.
So instead, it was held by the lovely new couple that just started dating a little while ago after a very special trip to a beach in a foreign region owned by a different house. Did I mention just how adorable it was to see them together? Alphys always got red around Undyne, and our blue skinned friend gave aggressive kisses whenever she could. It was downright cute.
Those two lovely ladies were gathering up presents for me to open after our belated lunch. Papyrus was hard at work on the grill and in the kitchen leaving us with an amazing backyard spread of food before the season for outdoor cooking was over. They were trying their best to run the show while others arrived.
Maria and MK had shown up a while ago. The woman was eager to greet us along with her youngest son. I could see MK looking out for Frisk at the party before he saw me motion to the second floor where she was hiding away. I saw him sigh before he waited to the until Asriel showed up for the two of them to hang out.
Grillby, Sara and their family had shown up as well. It was lovely to see them taking a well needed day off from the diner they ran in order to visit. Their little ones were growing fast and rushing around the party. Fuku was getting drinks for all the party guests with her little brother toddling after her, listening onto her every word. The two of them I knew would be good for their parents' business in the future.
Even Bernie and Vicky managed to squeeze away from their beach side inn they ran to celebrate with us. The two of them and their large combined children of fifteen manned the building all on their own without their parents. I heard from them that a new extension of the inn was going to be happening soon. Private villas to appease the richer clients and newlyweds. It sounded exciting to try, if we ever managed to get a vacation…
I was surprised by even a short visit from Simon, Sampson and Wher. The three of them all had their own jobs to rush off back to or were just getting off long shifts.
Simon was a teacher for teens in the above world now after a couple years of school from both the underground and above, tutoring in-between to raise up his marks. He adored the new students he was teaching and trying to make their lives much better off than his own had been when he was a criminal in the underground. His past was all behind him and he glowed with new found ambition.
Sampson was one of the last people in a long time to be accepted into Asgore's army and keep his position. With his rare ability, while not needed much in these recent times, a few still had to be kept on hand. With the help of Vinnie and Undyne, he was third in command of the guard for quite a while now, and still ran his position beautifully. I was happy for him, and even Sans was able to show him a smile after how far the male had come from his destructive days.
And finally, there was Wher, my assistant in the underground when I still had a chance to paint for the monster community. I made sure to keep supporting him even as more of a secretary while he took classes and dove into the above ground community to begin his acting career. His kind personality, though somewhat meek appearance, was adored by many. He just got his first real gig a short while ago involving a big up coming movie. He would be the co-star to a female human that fell in love with a monster man.
Gee, I wonder where they got that idea from…
Regardless, it was so exciting to see so many of my friends that I hardly had a chance to see barely once a month if I was lucky compared to near everyday when we were confined in the underground. I was happy they were all thriving. Things were going so well.
"Yo Angel!" My attention was grabbed from a riveting conversation about 'fucking entitled guests' by Bernie when Undyne came to the comfy chair I was placed within. "It's almost present time! Gotta get ya in another spot!"
"Of course!" Laughing at my friend, I gave a small smile to Bernie. "Sorry about that. Rain check on the rest of that story?"
The bunny clicked her tongue. "Sure, no problem. And don't worry, I got plenty more. Includin' some guy who was so inta gettin' his rocks off his shoved a full bottle of whisky up his ass."
Do I even want to know? No, no you probably don't Angel…
"Alright, Undyne. Let's get moving. Just need a quick pee break before we start in, okay? Kids are really kicking up a storm in here."
That caused the woman to pause as she looked at me. "Ya good? Do ya need Al?"
I quickly waved her off. "I'm fine. It's always a siesta in my tummy with those two running around."
"Ya sure?"
"Yes, but if you don't hurry, I will pee on your floor."
"Shit!"
And like that I was whisked away to the first-floor bathroom. I laughed as Undyne set me inside and gave me the privacy of a closed door, not standing there with me.
"Just holler when you're done!"
"Thank you!"
It had been such a good distraction to the somewhat constant pain going on in my stomach.
For a few hours I'd felt the kids moving pretty good and no matter how much I ate they weren't appeased. Granted… the pain wasn't… too terrible. Though I didn't feel pain like a lot of others. After the battle that took place a few years ago with Asriel before I gave him the soul I made, a good handful of my nerves just… didn't work.
Thankfully I still had enough sensitivity to tell when my bladder was about to explode, but it didn't help when I tried to do a self-evaluation of myself. The kids tended to kick against one of the few still working nerves, but many in my lower region weren't really working. It was hard to pinpoint if something was wrong or not.
Carefully I pulled down the very cozy sweat pants I'd worn under the nice loose dress I had on that afternoon. Just in case I had an accident, it was helpful that the material would absorb everything along with the pad tucked into it.
But once I pulled it down, I noticed something really strange…
Upon closer inspection did I that the pants were entirely saturated with blood, liquid and mucus. It fell out of me in a glob like mess before I saw how red my lower legs were, once free of the material. Using the counter to assist me in stepping out of them, I pulled off the dress over my head to keep it from getting messy. I sighed that I'd made a mess of my clothes again and sat upon the porcelain throne. Trying to go about my business, I released my muscles to let whatever had to come fly.
It was only then when I noticed that something large was trying to come out.
My eyes widened and a small shriek came out of me before I could stop it. I couldn't see past the massive belly I had, so with my fingers I felt down around to make sure what was going on wasn't happening.
I sadly was wrong when a head was crowning between my legs.
"Oh my god…" Taking a moment to get a grasp on the fear that I hadn't even noticed I was in labor during the party, I called out to my friend. "Undyne!"
"Angel?!" Her response was quick as she opened the bathroom door, but paused with wide eyes before she saw me. "The fuck!?"
"I promise I had no idea! I couldn't feel much of anything!" I did somewhat panic when I thought about how I could have possibly hurt the kids as I moved about here and there during the earlier unnoticed contractions. "Get Alphys and Sans, I'm giving birth right now!"
"Fuck! Fuck! Uh!" Undyne sped around quickly. Looking around outside the room for anyone who could help me. "Tori! Tori! Go get Sans and Al! Angel's havin' her kids now! I'll bring her to the lab! Frist table!"
I could barely focus on the yelling outside the door while Undyne raced in to grab my body in as careful of a manner as she could. I was carried into the new lab of Alphys where she had a couple hospital rooms. I was set inside the closes one while a flash of blue went off to the side. A scream and a gasp were all I heard as I was laid back.
"S-she's crowning! O-Oh my g-goodness!" Alphys ran right to work. I could hear her feet pattering the ground while she ran. "U-Undyne! G-get the blankets!"
"Oh it!" I heard her rush out the door while my husband came in beside me.
"Precious? What happened?"
"I-I couldn't feel the contractions… I just went to the bathroom thinking I had to pee… I swear I had no idea…"
"Its s'kay. Deep breaths." Sans held my hand tightly while he turned to our friend. "Al, what do ya need?"
"M-materials for the little ones! B-baskets, clothes, d-diapers, a-and towels! T-they're on t-the counter o-outside t-this room!"
"On it. Hang tight Angel." He let go of my hand long enough to flash out and find the items. Sans was in and out of the room so fast while Alphys hooked me up to monitors and Undyne came back with blankets and a medical gown to put over my body for privacy.
"O-okay!" When Alphys made the call, my legs were already hooked up into the air while both friend and husband sat as support or help at the side. "T-they're going to c-come fast! B-be ready! I-it will probably t-take only a p-push-"
I felt that pain in my lower abdomen again. I couldn't feel it much, but my nerves were riding high to make sure the kids were okay. I barely waited for Alphys as I willed my body to work and push them out. It was like a sudden pop when you felt the relief, though it was still a bit hard to tell.
"O-oh my goodness! I-I g-got t-the first o-one! A-a boy!"
"Crap, crap, crap! How do I separate 'em?!"
"Cool it Cap. I got 'em. Hold Angel's hand."
My husband left me to tend to our son, my hand was placed into a webbed on. I hardly needed much to grab onto due to nerves being shot, but regardless I pushed anyway to get my kids out and the help they needed.
"S-slow down A-angel!"
Alphys' cry came only when I needed a breath to fill my lungs. I could just barely hear crying in the background as my son took his first breaths of air. Relief was there, but then worry came back for my little girl.
I then pushed again with all my might as another little plop I felt leave me. My nerves I couldn't even tell were over exerted, but I was out of breath. I sucked in needed oxygen while Alphys ran from me the next second with another little one in her arms. I watched, numbly, as I looked over at the two of them. I still couldn't feel anything while I sat there, but Undyne's hands kept me in place so that I couldn't move.
"A-angel… C-congratulations." Alphys came over to us moments later with my daughter in her hands. She was wrapped in a pink little blanket. "Y-your kids a-are b-both healthy. N-no problems."
Her tiny body fit easily in the crook of my arm. I could easily see she was my and Sans' child. She shared his wider skull, but her skin tone matched mine, and she even had my white hair from the union between myself and Sans. Even as she sat bundled in my arms, I could feel her wiggling all over. She also cried loudly. She must have been the kicker.
I turned away only when I heard a soft cry came from the other side of the room. Sans walk back over with a blue blanket in his arms. The babe looked identical to his sister with Sans' wider skull, white fuzz on his head and my skin tone. He was much quieter of the two while he laid comfortably in his father's arms.
"Well shit." Sans chuckled as he tucked in beside me. "We're parents."
"Yes, we are." I smiled at the little ones, focusing hard on their cries.
Much like Sans had done for me in the underground, when focusing hard enough, he could see the text that people spoke in. It was how he and Papyrus were named, and as well as the alter egos for Frisk and myself when first moving to the underground. I sadly wasn't able to do it, even after the soul merging with my husband. Yet he took great pride when he pulled out a font book to see how our children's words looked to name them.
"Looks like our little loud mouth over in yer arms is Arial." Sans then flipped a few pages earlier in the book before looking to our son. "And this little quiet guy would be Eras."
"Eras and Arial Terians… I love those names…" So overwhelmed in those moments while I held my children, I cried. "I'm so glad they're here, and here safely."
"I-I hate to b-break up t-the moment…" Alphys slowly came forward beside us. "B-but I-I n-need to do a c-check up o-of you Angel. A-also I-I'm sure y-you'd like t-to be c-cleaned up?"
Looking back down to myself, I sighed at how right she was. I was a mess and I'm sure Alphys had more doctor like things to worry about with me.
"Sure, I understand." Carefully passing over my daughter to Sans, I laid back down. "Go ahead Alphys, and then I can rest with my little ones…"
"We'll make sure ta keep it down for ya, Precious."
With that, Sans and Undyne took the babies out of the room for a while so Alphys could assist me. Honestly with the adrenaline over with, I could finally feel how tired I was from that. Even while Alphys worked and chatted with me, I fell asleep against my wishes.
Witch's Note:
Okay, if this didn't put a smile on your faces, I don't know what else to do! (Of course, both Mystic Girl and myself are squealing ourselves as the next generation has come at last!) Oh, we've been waiting for this for so long!
Mystic Girl: Hell yeah we have! There's cute little babies around now!
Me: Oh yeah it is! And two of them! That's so amazing! Oh yeah, before I forget, sorry for posting early everyone. On Saturday I'm not going to be where there's internet, so with that in mind you all get this chapter early!
Mystic Girl: Yay! Early awesome chapter!
Me: And now, let's move onto some reviews, shall we?
Thechaosmaster: Wasn't the last chapter cute? We all needed something adorable as we dealt with everything going on! Pap sadly didn't get to pay back his car, but he's thinking of other ways to pay back his family down the line when he's able. Still a long way to go for that.
And as for that sparky piece of scrap, don't you worry, the documents are being prepared. Granted, a but more slowly then last time since it will still be some time before Mettaton will be released to your custody. But be prepared, it won't take forever, I promise.
Mystic Girl: (She rolled her eyes at me, but kept silent so that no information was given out too soon.)
Shadow8Phantom: Thank you for your comments Shadow. Like I said before, walking that line is really tough sometimes with Papyrus, so I'm glad it's making more sense or perhaps fits better now. But I'm hoping to show Papyrus growing as he goes through school and gets a new job compared to the guard that he always worked for.
And as for Asriel? You'll see him more soon. He'll start making more appearances and plays soon. Just a little bit longer.
MysticBoywastaken: Hey Mystic Boy! Sounds like some people are letting you have first dibs at least a little when it comes to Mettaton! Again, gonna have to wait a bit, but things are already working out. XD
Not A Shady Guy: Welp, hopefully the emotions are positive enough in this one! With a little surprise here and there.
unfortunatelyriverwastaken: Yes, you have been gone a while! Lots to catch up on River! So good to see you again!
Yeah, this family has been through so much, it's not even funny! I got both of your reviews for the last two chapters and love seeing your response to the food I post about. I'm a huge foodie and love my food, same with Mystic Girl.
But as for Frisk? As you can see she's here, but... something's off.
Anyone care to guess?
Okay, there's my reviews, again, thanks for reviewing everyone and loving the comments you all leave us to talk about for the story! Hope you all don't mind the early posting, but I've been demanded to go to a reunion... no internet... boo. But I'll be home shortly after and I hope things will settle down from there. I did have a nice vacation, just got done with it and a desperate need to get away from my family.
Love you all and see you next week!
