Edward quickly searched the house and was about to leave the same window he had entered when one of the creatures jumped on him, recognizing that it was the same one that was lying in the road.
Edward was knocked to the floor and only a shotgun separated vital teeth from his throat.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a revolver, put it to the creature's stomach and fired, the creature howled and Edward put his legs on its chest and kicked it, throwing it back.
He got up as fast as he could, ran to the creature and shoved the barrel of the shotgun into the creature's mouth.
- You tell A!
The shot ripped open the creature's head, stinking yellow-green blood spilling across the floor. Edward ejected the cartridge case and inserted a new one.
In the next few houses, he found a few cans, water, a baseball bat, a hunting knife.
He was the last house on the roundabout, kicked the door open and saw the menacing end of a strange weapon.
- Edward? he recognized that voice
Preston Garvey was standing there, he was the curator of the nearby museum, he was wearing an outfit that was a replica of Minuteman's clothes, he had a weapon in his hands that looked like a laser musket.
- I'm glad to see you too. Edward said, grabbing the musket, and forcing him to aim it down.
- Sorry... Preston said... I'm a nervous wreck.
- Like all of us... Edward said, stepping inside and barricading the door with an armchair... Me Curie and Shaun hid in my storage room. Do you want to go there?
- Sure, in a safe group. He replied by packing his things into his backpack.
- Do you have radio stations? Edward asked
- The battery ran out two days ago... Preston answered... But I picked up a few signals.
They left the house and headed to the warehouse.
- Where did you get it from? Edward asked, pointing to Preston's gun.
- Grandpa brought a broken laser gun from the army... Preston started... And my father was always a keen tinkerer and he made this marvel for my eighteenth birthday.
Curie was more than happy when she opened the door. The rest of the rest too.
- So Preston... Edward started... What do you know.
- There are two places in Boston where people are. One is in the stadium, the other in the castle. At the stadium a group of civilians and police, in the castle there are remnants of what is left of the local military forces.
- How could the ghouls defeat the power armor soldiers? Shaun asked
Everyone looked at him.
- They look like those monsters from the comics. He said as he picked up the comic book he was reading.
- There were just too many... Preston said... Or so they said on the radio.
- A name as good as any... Edward murmured... We have to get there.
- It is far. Curie said.
- We have a car.
- The roads are impassable... Preston said... I climbed onto the roof of my house and looked around. There are abandoned cars everywhere. Besides, the noise attracts all the ghouls in the area.
- Okay... Edward said... We're searching the entire sanctuary, collecting anything that's useful. Then we plan our journey so as to hide in buildings at night. From what I've noticed they are more active at night. Do you all agree?
Everyone nodded
