Ch5 - The Heart Of The Matter Pt2

"Woah kid, slow down"

I placed my hand on his arm; as he spoke.

"Mom...Mom...I found something big, you're gonna want to see this..."

We stood up, and followed him outside; I spoke.

"We're we going kid?"

He smiled, before answering.

"I'll explain everything, once we get there"

That's when he walked ahead of us, I looked at Regina; who just shrugged, I stopped in my tracks when the mansion came into view.

This place again? Haven't we spent enough time here?

I took a breath, before following Henry and Regina inside; we then made our way upstairs, as Henry explained.

"After you guys left, I stayed behind to look around and I found something..."

I jogged up the short flight of stairs first, Regina followed suit; and as we walked down the hallway, I noticed it was a dead end. I watched as he pulled down one of the wall lights, and when the wall moved; it revealed a secret room.

Regina gasped, before speaking.

"A library..."

I stood back slightly, staring at the shelves; and that's when I noticed that all of the books were similar to Henry's storybook.

Henry spoke again.

"Not just any library, look..."

He walked towards one of the shelves, lifting on of the books down; I spoke.

"That looks like your book"

He looked at me, before speaking.

"Only it's blank, they all are..."

Regina opened the book and flipped through the pages, and that's when Henry spoke again.

"And if this place is full of potential storybooks..."

Regina gasped softly, before she spoke.

"Then maybe, this is the authors house..." she smiled, before continuing "Henry, you did it..."

What did he do? I spoke, confusion clear in my voice as I did.

"Did what...what's going on?"

Regina looked at me, before answering.

"Well, we were...uh, looking for the author; I was hoping he could write me a happier story..."

I smiled softly, before Henry spoke.

"We called it Operation Mongoose"

There very own mission, I placed my hand on his shoulder; before speaking.

"I like it, it's got style; I'm in"

Regina, looked at me; shock evident on her face, she then spoke.

"You are..."

I nodded, before answering her.

"I made you a promise, that I intend to keep; everyone deserves their happy ending"

She smiled at me, before placing her hand on my arm; silently thanking me, Henry smiled as he placed the book back onto the shelf. I smiled, before speaking.

"I meant what I said Regina, I'm going to help you...So I'll see you guys tomorrow"

They both nodded, before I spoke.

"Have a good night"

Henry hugged me, before I made my way out of the library; and back to the loft. When I got there, my mom was sitting at the table; she smiled at me, before gesturing for me to take a seat.

She got up, and headed into the kitchen; lifting two cups, and the cocoa powder. She made the hot chocolate in a comfortable silence, before making her way back to the table.

I smiled as she placed one of the cups down in front of me, before she sat back down; I glanced at the cup, smiling again when I noticed the cinnamon.

She spoke.

"Are you alright? I mean it's ok if you aren't"

I smiled softly, before speaking.

"I'm fine..."

She spoke.

"Emma..."

I sighed, before speaking again.

"Mom..."

She looked at me, quirking an eyebrow; I sighed, before speaking again.

"Ok, I guess it's been pretty hectic around here; but I don't know where to start..."

She smiled softly, reaching out to place her hand on mine; before speaking.

"Start at the beginning"

I nodded, before taking a breath; I then spoke.

"It all started when I traveled into the past, and inadvertently brought Robins dead wife back into the present, and an urn; which contained Elsa, who then escaped from the urn, wandered around town, froze Leroy's van, created a giant snow man, broke into Gold's shop, then created an ice wall, which I then got trapped under..."

My mom moved to sit beside me, I stiffened slightly; as she placed her arm around my shoulders, this is all still quite new to me...having people care about me. I tentatively leaned into her embrace, before speaking again.

"I'm glad that dad and Killian rescued me, because I don't know what would have happened..I mean I guess I wouldn't be here right now, so anyway; I was rescued from the ice cave, Marian was placed under the sleeping curse, then Killian almost got himself killed when he and Elsa went to confront the Snow Queen by themselves, I told Killian that I couldn't lose him too, he told me that he was a survivor, I then asked him out, he got his hand back after he blackmailed Gold, then regained his hook after doing several things for Gold, including trapping an old man in a magic hat. Before you ask, I don't know why he didn't tell me that the dagger was a fake, but because of the whole blackmailing thing; Gold used it to his advantage and decided that he was going to take Killian's heart, so he could cleave himself from the dagger..."

My mom gasped softly, before tightening her arm around my shoulders; I sighed again, before continuing.

"That's not the worst thing, do you remember when I decided to get rid of my magic, and when I told you that I would be home soon? Well, I went to the mansion because Gold told me to meet him there; so I did, only for Elsa stopping me from doing so...but what I didn't know was that Killian knew about the device that was going to take my magic away. And when he tried to warn me, that's when Gold took his heart; and everything else that happened, from the fairies, to the spell of shattered sight, to the discovery of the portal, to Killian trying to kidnap Henry because of the spell, and then what happened up at the clock tower; was because Gold had complete control over Killian..."

My mom moved slightly, to look at me; before speaking.

"How's he doing?"

I sighed, while moving away from her embrace; I looked at her, before shrugging. I spoke.

"I don't know, I mean after I put his heart back; we talked and he told me everything that happened, I was angry. So I accused him of not trusting me, then I left. I ended up talking to Regina, then went back to the mansion with her and Henry. And now I'm going to help her, with her happy ending"

My mom sighed, before she spoke again.

"What about your happy ending...what are you going to do about Hook?"

I sighed again, not knowing what to do; I took a breath, before I answered her.

"Well, everyone else I've been with is dead; Neal, Graham and yeah even, Walsh...so I don't know. I'm relieved he's ok, but at the same time; I nearly lost him mom. I really care about him, but when he was standing under those icicles; I was scared, and then when he was seconds from dying...my heart stopped, because I'm the saviour. Not a very good one, because; I couldn't even stop the man I care about from dying"

My mom looked at me, before speaking.

"Emma honey, he's ok, you're ok; we're all ok, and you're an amazing saviour. Everything you're feeling is completely normal, I mean if you felt nothing; well that would be concerning, but you have to talk to him sweetie. I'm sure he's annoyed with himself over everything that's happened, but he probably did it all for you...as he cares about you"

I smiled softly, knowing that she was right; I do need to talk to him, but not right now. Maybe tomorrow...
