Ch13 - A Bitter Draught Pt2

The second I left Archie's office, I crouched down against the wall; my hand was still shaking, and my breathing was slightly uneven. I tried taking a calming breath, while mentally berating myself; because I shouldn't have lost my temper like that, as Archie was only trying to help me.

I closed my eyes, while trying to focus on slowing my breathing; I could still hear Archie's words, as they played over and over in my mind. I know he's right, I should tell my family; but I can't.

How am I supposed to tell my parents and my son; that I'm going to die? Better still, how do I tell Killian; that I'm going to die? He's dealt with loss twice, I don't want to put him through that a third time; I know deep down that Henry won't be alone, as he has Regina.

My parents have each other, I'm sure they wouldn't allow Killian to face the aftermath of my death alone. I don't want to die, no one does; but if I can't find a way to stop these visions, then I guess that's how my story is going to end.

I moved to stand up, but not before glancing down at my hand; which had finally stopped shaking, I felt my phone buzz. I was shaken from my thoughts, it was my dad; I answered.

"Hey dad, is everything ok?"

He answered.

"Somethings come up, can you meet your mother and I at Granny's?"

I sighed, before answering.

"Yeah, I'll be there in a couple of minutes"

He thanked me, before the call ended; I sighed internally, before making my way towards Granny's, I wasn't ready to face another villain. We're already dealing with Hyde, I'm dealing with my visions; when I got there, I noticed that my parents were standing outside.

I made my way towards them, trying to keep my tone light; as I spoke.

"What's going on?"

My dad sighed, before answering.

"After you left, Henry was approached by someone; but when he went to look at his book, the guy had already left. Leaving behind some kind of invitation, addressed to both your mother and I. At first, we know why he wanted to meet us; until Regina enlightened us, she explained that he wanted us dead. He also wants revenge, and according to Regina, the only way he's going to get it; is if he kills us, which I thought was strange because we had never met him..."

I sighed, before speaking again.

"So where is Regina?"

My mom spoke.

"She went to confront him, because she's the only one that can stop him"

I tilted my head in confusion, before speaking again.

"What do you mean, she's the only that can stop him? What's her connection in all of this?"

My dad looked at me, before answering.

"When Regina was the Evil Queen, she hired him to kill us; so we checked out his room, and we found boxes containing writing tools, and different weapons. She wasn't aware he was here, so that's why she didn't tell us; she asked if we really wanted to hear about every time, that she tried to kill us"

My mom spoke again.

"Obviously I didn't, but your father did; before you say anything, she apologised. She was annoyed that the Count didn't get the memo, so that's when I suggested that since she was the one that hired him; she should be the one to fire him, so that's what she's doing right now. She's going to meet him at the dirigible crash site, alone...but before she left, she admitted that if didn't really take him two curses and a pit stop in the land of untold stories to find us. I think that, we need to be close by; just incase she can't get him to stop"

I nodded, taking my phone out of my pocket; opening it, sending a quick text to Regina.

"If this doesn't work out, I'll take them somewhere safe"

She text back, saying for us to wait near the edge of town; I sighed, before I spoke.

"Ok, so Regina wants us to wait at the edge of town; so let's go to the station, we'll take one of the squad cars. So all we have to do is wait for her to call"

We left Granny's, and made our way to the station; I went inside and grabbed the keys to the squad car, I then made my way back outside. My dad slid into the back seat, my mom sat in the front with me; we made our way to the edge of town.

We made the short journey, in a somewhat comfortable silence; how my parents are being so calm, I'll never know. We weren't there ten minutes, when Regina called me; frustration clear in her tone.

"Emma, he's not backing down"

I sighed, before answering.

"On it..."

I ended the call, my mom spoke.

"What happened?"

I sighed again, before speaking.

"Errol Flynn, is not backing down"

I started the car, before taking a sharp u-turn; heading towards the town line, my frustration causing me to speed up. My mom spoke.

"Where are you taking us?"

I spoke.

"I told Regina, that I would take you somewhere safe"

My mom spoke again.

"Emma no, we are not leaving town; we're not running from our wine steward"

Wine steward? So they do know him, my mind raced; as I tried to piece everything together, as I got closer to the town line. When we tried to cross it, we were thrown back; which was weird, because there shouldn't be a protection spell on the town line anymore.

Obviously someone had put one on it again, but who?... my eyes widened, it had to be the Count; he wanted his revenge; and he couldn't get it, it my parents weren't here.

I spoke.

"Looks like the Count doesn't want you running either..."

I called Regina, she answered immediately.

"Emma?..."

I sighed, before answering.

"I brought them to the town line, tried crossing it; but we were thrown back...can you meet us here?"

She spoke.

"I'm on my way"

I turned around to face my parents, letting them know that Regina was on her way. She arrived within seconds, we got out of the car. She spoke.

"Is everyone ok?"

I nodded, while my parents spoke; confirming that they were ok too. I moved towards the town line. I could sense magic, as I touched it; it was definitely some kind of protection spell, but why?

I spoke.

"I don't think the Count, crashed the car"

Regina spoke.

"Protection spell?"

I sighed internally, before speaking.

"Just like the one that you used, to keep everyone here; during the curse"

Regina placed her hands on it, before speaking.

"Not like it...this is the same spell; well the only way to do that, is with the ingredients from my vault. Which I sealed with blood magic, I..."

She was interrupted, as we heard movement; it was Zelena, she spoke.

"Regina! I got your message, is everyone ok? I'll never understand why you parade around in these deathtraps, rather than just magicking yourself around town...What happened?"

Regina moved towards her, while speaking.

"Well, someone put a protection spell on the town line"

Zelena looked surprised, as she spoke.

"Really? Oh, who would do that?"

Regina spoke again.

"I was gonna ask you the same question..."

I heard Zelena, as she raised her voice slightly; before speaking again.

"You're accusing me, of causing this?"

I scoffed internally, as I thought "Do you really blame her though, after what you did in the past? "

I heard Regina answer her.

"Oh come on Zelena, other than me; you're the only one, who can open the lock to my vault"

I stared at Zelena, knowing that Regina had a point there; I heard Zelena get defensive.

"That's not true..."

Regina hit back.

"Really? Well if it wasn't me, and it wasn't you; then who?"

Zelena sighed, before answering.

"I have no idea, sis; but I'm getting tired of this inquisition"

She vanished, as we all stood there; obviously she knows something, she got too defensive for a second there. Regina turned to face us, before she spoke.

"I'm starting to think, the Count; isn't the only one, we have to be worried about..."

I spoke.

"What do you mean, that he's not the only one that we have to worry about?"

She sighed, before answering.

"I'm not sure, do you mind if I take Henry with me to the crash site? There's something I need to figure out, and I think he'll be able to help me?"

I nodded, before she vanished into thin air; I turned back to my parents, while looking at the car. Hopefully my magic can fix it, I l closed my eyes; concentrating on the car, within seconds it was practically brand new.

We climbed into it, and made our way back into town; as we needed to figure out our next move...
