Ch17 - The Other Shoe Pt3
(Emma's POV)
I guess, he was wrong; they're never going to stop, so I guess that I should just get used to them happening more frequently...
I crouched down, my hand hovering over Ashley's shoe; I sighed softly, as my magic wasn't taking hold. Frustration, seeped through my body; as I heard Killian speak.
"It's still happening, I thought the cricket was helping you"
I sighed, before answering.
"I thought so too"
I guess talking about it, doesn't actually help; before I could say anything else, I heard another voice.
"Having a little trouble, with your magic?"
I stood up, turning around to face the direction the voice came from; it was the Evil Queen, what the hell did she want? Henry moved forward, while speaking.
"Stay away from my mom"
She looked at him, as she moved closer; her tone, almost condescending.
"Henry...Now is that anyway to speak to your real mother?"
Real mother? Is she for real? I tried not to smile; as Henry spoke again.
"You're not my mother..."
She moved even closer, while speaking.
"Well, sure I am; I raised you, I helped you with your homework. I packed your lunches, Regina and I may have split; but I am as much your mother as she is, now stop slouching. Posture, is self respect; and if you don't have it, no one else will give it to you"
I moved forward, pulling him back; as I spoke.
"Henry, hey; don't listen to her"
The Evil Queen spoke, distain clear in her tone; as she did.
"Says the woman, who was never around"
I sighed internally, because I made a choice back then; I wanted him to have a better life, and he got it. I spoke again.
"You're right, I was never around; and I owned that, you're just the worst part of Regina"
She scoffed, before she responded.
"Am I? Or am I the part, that is honest about myself? You see, Regina never had her happy ending; because she's never, been strong enough to let her story run it's course. I won't make that mistake, uh-uh; for myself or our new arrivals"
I looked at her again, before I spoke.
"What about those people? What do you want with them?"
She raised her hand, before speaking.
"Patience...you just wait until those untold stories play out, but here's a little spoiler; Cinderella's story won't end well"
What's Ashley got to do with this? I spoke again.
"Why would you want to hurt Ashley?"
She smirked at me, before answering.
"I don't...I want to hurt you, I want you to see; how pointless you are"
I moved closer, before speaking.
"I saved her once, I'll save her again"
She kept her gaze on mine, as she spoke.
"That's the tragic thing, about being the saviour; you have to keep saving people, but once you're off the chessboard..." she made a small flicking motion, before continuing. "Everything falls apart, all those happy endings turn to dust; and your entire life means nothing, let me show you what it feels like..."
She raised her hands, and before I could say anything; Henry, Killian and I were surrounded by a cloud of purple smoke. We appeared on, what I think was the other side of town; I wasn't sure, Killian spoke.
"Oh, where the hell are we?"
I sighed, before answering him.
"She took us off the chessboard"
He looked at me, as I moved to sit down; in the middle of the road, I sighed again. Killian spoke again.
"Swan, what are you doing?"
I looked up at him, before answering.
"I need to think, and doing this normally helps"
He nodded, as I sat with my head in my hands; I growled softly in frustration, I swear when I get my hands on that bitch.
She's gonna regret coming back to Storybrooke, I was right; she's definitely the worst part of Regina, and then some.
I spoke again.
"Ashley was my first save, you take that away; then what? Everything I've done, can be undone?"
Killian huffed slightly, before answering.
"By the Evil Queen? No, no; no, my Emma's too strong for that"
My heart fluttered slightly, as that was the first time he had ever said that; and it sounded really good, I looked up at him. Smiling softly, as he continued.
"Look, we can worry about the big picture later; right now, the little picture's saying that we have to go...magic or no magic"
I sighed again, my earlier frustration surfaced again; as I spoke.
"Go where? Back to where Ashley left us? She's not there, she's charging into who knows what; and if the Evil Queen wants that to play out, it's not good"
Henry spoke, ever the voice of reason; I lifted my head to look at him.
"Then we figure out, where she's headed next; you didn't use to have magic, when you found people"
That's when I heard Killian speak.
"He's right, just imagine you're back in your old life; as a bails bonds person...woman, how'd you find people then?"
They're right, I used to be good at this; I sighed again, before speaking.
"Try to think, like the skip thinks; and get inside their head, why are they running? What is their story? Who do they love?"
Henry interrupted me, "Their story..." as he crouched down; opening his backpack, pulling out his book. He continued.
"Ashley said, she was trying to help her stepsister; uh...Camilla?"
That didn't sound right, I spoke "Kalinda?" Killian looked at me as he spoke "Callista?"
I sighed...yeah; I have no idea, and clearly Killian didn't either. I spoke again.
"I thought it was Kalinda..."
Henry stopped us, as he spoke again.
"It's Clorinda"
I glanced up at Killian, who looked bemused; as Henry continued.
"Ashley blames herself, for her not getting her happy ending; if the book says that her ending, was supposed to be...then that's a clue we need"
He flicked through the pages of his book, as he spoke again.
"Yes! It's in here, look..."
He handed his book over, as we filtered through the pages; her stepmother threatened to break her other glass shoe, if she didn't tell her where Clorinda was. And when Ashley did, she broke it anyway; even after Ashley told her where Clorinda had gone.
My heart broke for Ashley, and it explained why she felt like she had to make things right; as we read on, we discovered that Clorinda and her husband went to the land of untold stories.
As it was safe, but unfortunately Clorinda's mother found them; before they could escape, and Ashley got the blame.
That's when everything clicked into place, they had to be somewhere secluded; like a farm or something, I looked at Henry.
"Do you know if there's somewhere around here, like a farm or something?"
He nodded, before answering.
"Yeah, there's an old pumpkin patch not far from here, Ashley and Clorinda are probably there"
I nodded, as I moved to stand up; sighing internally, as Killian offered me his hand. I gladly took it, as we followed Henry to the pumpkin patch; he walked ahead of us.
When we got there, we heard voices; I heard Ashley, the other two I didn't recognise. We got closer, and I heard a blade being drawn; followed by a small groan.
Someone had just been stabbed, who I didn't know; we moved closer, to the barn. I ran in, past who I recognised to be Ashley's stepmother.
"Ashley!..." I crouched down to help her, before speaking again. "Thank god, we found you..."
I heard Killian speak.
"No..."
It sounded like he had just disarmed her stepmother, relief flowed through me; as my hand hovered over Ashley's wound...
(Killian's POV)
Emma and I followed Henry to the farm with pumpkins, and as we neared the barn; we heard voices, Emma's eyes widened.
That's when I heard the familiar sound of a blade being drawn back, and then a small gasp; I knew someone had just been pierced with the blade.
We ran into the barn, Emma immediately ran to help Ashley; I heard her speak, as she raised her hand to heal Ashley's wound.
I disarmed her former stepmother, speaking as I did so.
"No..."
There was no way, I was going to allow her to wield that thing near my Emma; I lifted the riffle, that was on the ground. Pointing it, at the vile woman in front of me.
I saw a hint of fear in her eyes, but only momentarily; as she noticed my hook, and that's when my stare hardened.
I heard Emma speak.
"This needs magic"
I sighed softly, but I knew that Emma could do this; I knew she could save her friend. I heard Henry speak to her.
"Mom, you can do it..."
The lad was right, she could do this; I watched as Emma concentrated, as magic washed over Ashley. Her wound healing in seconds, I felt a sense of pride; as Emma healed her, just like I knew she could.
Ashley was healed, Emma moved away; as Henry pulled her into a hug, I heard Ashley apologise to her sister. She then turned and hugged Emma, who looked slightly less stressed; thank the gods, I don't like it when Emma's stressed.
Emma smiled at her, before standing up; she made her way towards me, I embraced her. Speaking as I did.
"You did it Swan"
We watched Ashley, as she hugged her sister; and then her sister's husband. It was quite the sight to see, after everything happened today.
Emma moved away slightly, to pull her talking phone from her pocket; she called the grumpy dwarf, and asked him to help with Ashley's stepmother.
He arrived within minutes, before telling that woman to get changed into something more fitting for what he had in mind for her.
She moved to the back of his vehicle, before closing the doors behind her; she exited minutes later, dressed in an orange suit.
Emma stifled a laugh, before promising to tell me why she laughed later. Emma and I watch as Grumpy yelled at her.
"Put some back into it, sister."
I laugh internally as he turned toward us, nodding slightly; Emma's hand found it's way onto my shoulder, I felt her gaze land on me.
"She really was brave...Ashley."
I say quietly, as I watched her interact with her sister; as Emma spoke.
"Putting love before life."
I hummed in agreement, before speaking again.
"Exactly."
We watched on, taking in the sights and sounds that surrounded us; but none of it was as breathtaking, as my Swan though.
I felt her hand shift, as it landed on the back of my my head; she started playing with the hair at the base of my neck.
She spoke, barely above a whisper.
"Move in with me."
I apologize if I am hearing this correctly, Swan wants me to move in? My Emma Swan? I turned to look at her, my eyebrow raised.
"What?"
She smiled softly, before speaking again.
"Move in with me."
She grinned at me, and my heart stuttered; as she spoke again.
"I know everything in life is uncertain, but sometime you have to walk out the door and hope there's not a bus."
A bus what is she getting at with that? I scoff.
"I mean." She pauses. "I have a closet full of red jackets. I feel like I could make some space for some black leather."
I grinned, finally knowing what she was trying to explain. I replied.
"Oh, when you put it like that, then I would love to move in with you."
I grinned, as I pulled her closer; as I initiated the kiss. Our lips met, in a kiss; that was unlike any we had ever shared, because this one was full of understanding, warmth and most importantly love.
I pulled back slightly, smiling at her; I watched face, as her eyes opened again. She spoke, in a light teasing tone.
"So...it looks like we're moving in together"
She grinned, and I returned it; before speaking again.
"It looks like it, love"
She smiled at me, before leaning into kiss me once more; I smiled into it, pulling her closer again...
