Ch4 - Strange Case (Breakfast Scene) Pt1

So I finally asked Killian to move in with me, but I still haven't told him about my visions. I also haven't told my parents either, I sat up against my headboard; as my phone buzzed.

I groaned softly, as I reached up to lift it off the bedside table; I sighed softly, as I read the text message from my mom.

Apparently she and my dad wanted to come over and make breakfast, I smiled softly; as I replied. I sat up, getting out of bed. I walked across the hall, knocking on Henry's door.

"Henry, your grandparents are coming over for breakfast"

I heard him reply, I smiled softly; before making my way back into my room, to get dressed; I then made my way downstairs. As I approached the hallway, I heard voices; talk about perfect timing, I laughed lol softly when I heard my mom say that they couldn't just walk in.

I opened the door, my mom smiled at me; before she spoke.

"Morning Emma"

I laughed softly, while Neal babbled; as they made their way inside. I smiled, as I moved aside to let them in; my dad smiled at me, as he made his way into the kitchen.

My dad got to work on the breakfast, he gestured for me and my mom to just relax; my mom stood beside him, with Neal in her arms.

I watched as plate, after plate; stacked high with pancakes, of all varieties were placed on the table in front of me. I was then handed a plate with pancakes, eggs and bacon; and as the final plate, was placed on the table, my dad spoke.

"Here you go, more pancakes"

I laughed as I spoke.

"Usually, I'm lucky; to get a lukewarm cup of coffee on your way to work"

My dad replied.

"Can't a father, cook for his daughter?"

I smiled, before answering.

"Sure, but I'm the saviour; not a Romanian power lifter"

He spoke again.

"Enjoy the breakfast"

He leaned down slightly, his hand on the back of my head; he kissed the top of my head softly, I knew what this was.

This was because of Killian, I then scoffed lightly; as I spoke.

"This is about Hook?"

My dad had his back to me, as he stood at the stove; as he spoke.

"No..."

My mom laughed softly, as she playfully reprimanded him.

"David..."

He sighed, placing his hands on his hips; as he turned around to reply.

"Fine, it's about Hook"

I sighed softly, looking at my mom; while smiling, reassuringly. My dad continued.

"With him moving in, things are gonna be different..." he crossed his arms, as he continued. "We're not gonna see you as much"

I looked at him, while speaking; trying to sound reassuring.

"Killian, being here; is not gonna change anything. You can come, cook me breakfast; whenever you want"

He smiled at me, as he realised I was right; that nothing was going to change. He smiled, as I continued.

"These leftovers, however; will probably last the next month or so"

I got up from the table, as Henry made his way into the kitchen; he spoke.

"You ready for your first back at school, grandma?"

She smiled at him, before speaking.

"You know it"

She passed Neal over to my dad, and just as they were about to leave; Regina walked in, Jekyll coming in behind her.

My mom spoke again.

"Oh! This can't be good"

Regina smiled softly, before speaking.

"We need to talk..."

My dad spoke.

"Whatever this is, we'll take care of it; you and Henry get to school...remember, back to normal"

He ushered my mom and Henry out, I looked at them; before speaking.

"What's wrong? Shouldn't you be in the lab, working on the potion?"

Dr Jekyll corrected me.

"Technically, it's a serum; and I'm afraid there's been a complication"

Regina looked at us, as she spoke.

"It's Hyde...he's escaped"

Dr Jekyll spoke again.

"I was in the lab, until early morning; when I returned to my room at Granny's, I found this..."

He lifted his hand, and that's when I noticed the necklace; he continued.

"It belonged to a woman, I cared deeply for; Hyde knew, he's trying to taunt me with it"

I spoke.

"We need to get you back to the lab, now we don't just need the serum to defeat the Evil Queen; we need it to finish Hyde"

I noticed that Dr Jekyll, had a distant look in his eye; he must have been thinking about the woman he cared about. I didn't want to pry, so I cleared my throat; before speaking again.

"Ok, so here's the plan; Regina will take you back to the lab, and we'll check in with you throughout the day"

Regina nodded, as they left; Dr Jekyll thanked me, before they left. I turned to look at my dad, who was still holding Neal; I sighed softly, before speaking.

"So I've been meaning to check in, how's mom dealing with all of this? How are you dealing with the Evil Queen's reappearance?"

He smiled softly, before answering.

"We've dealt with the Evil Queen before, we can deal with her again; we'll be fine..." he paused briefly, while looking at me; reassuringly, before continuing "everything's going to be fine"

I smiled softly, before leaning into a side hug; not wanting to squish Neal, I smiled again when Neal gurgled softly. My smile faltered slightly, as I realised; that my brother, would be the only infant I would ever hold.

So I spoke again.

"Hey do you mind if I hold him, for a minute?"

My dad stared at me, before handing him over to me; I smiled again, as Neal settled in my arms. I could sense my dad looking at me, I smiled; before speaking.

"What?..."

My dad shook his head, while not saying anything; but I could see the joy on his face, and that's when my heart clenched again. I would never get to do this, because my fate's been sealed...
