Ch21 - Street Rats Pt1
I woke up before Killian this morning, leaving a note on my pillow; before getting dressed, and heading downstairs. I grabbed my jacket, as I headed out the door; before making my way into town.
I needed to see the Oracle today, I also needed someone who wouldn't judge me; and that person was Archie, I headed in the direction of his office. Climbing the stairs, before knocking the door; I heard movement, followed by a soft bark.
The door opened, Archie smiled at me; while looking confused, he then spoke.
"Emma, did we have a session today?"
I shook my head, before answering.
"No, but I was thinking; we could do things my way today"
He tilted his head, before attaching Pongo's leash to his collar; closing the door behind him, before following me downstairs. He spoke again, confusion; clear in his tone, as he did.
"Emma, is everything alright? Have you had another vision?"
I sighed softly, as I stopped walking; turning to face him, I spoke.
"No. But the last time I went into the forest; I came across something...something that explained why I'm having the visions; my family don't know about it, they wouldn't understand. But I knew that you would, so we need to go to the forest; it's my kind of therapy, no offence..."
We walked further, and that's when I spotted the red bird; as it flew overhead, I started to walk faster. Following it, as it flew out of sight; he spoke as he followed me.
"Emma, I really don't think; chasing a bird, is an effective form of therapy"
I sighed again, before answering.
"Last time, he took me to the Oracle; he'll do it again, she knows what's going on with my visions"
Archie spoke again, in a slightly sceptical tone.
"She says, she knows; but I can actually help you"
I rolled my eyes, before speaking again.
"This is not, dream interpretation"
He stopped me, before moving to stand beside me; he spoke.
"Emma, this is the opposite of how; therapy is supposed to work...I mean, we're making progress"
I stared at him, before speaking; frustration clear in my tone.
"Well, I don't see it! My hand is still shaking, and the visions are still haunting me; despite all the hours on the couch. So no more talking, today we do something..."
I turned, and spotted someone; on the fallen log, they had their back to us. I then spoke.
"Hello?"
I briefly turned back to Archie, before rushing over to whoever was sitting on the log. I spoke again, as I got closer "Hello?" I placed my hand on their shoulder. "Hey" That's when they fell forward, landing on their back.
My eyes widened, when I noticed who it was; it was The Oracle, she's dead. There was some kind of black pigmentation on her skin, so I'm guessing that's what killed her.
I stood there, in complete shock. How did this happen? Why did this happen?
Archie placed his hand on my arm, whilst speaking. "Oh no...is she..." before moving towards the body; he crouched down, as I spoke. "I think so..."
He looked at me, as he spoke again.
"Who would do this?"
I shushed him, as I heard movement behind me; like someone was running away, I turned and that's when I spotted them. I raised my voice "Stop!"
Before I ran after them, the person fell; and I spoke again. "Hey! Hey! Hey! Stop!" I managed to turn them around, to face me; she must be one of Hyde's people, I noticed she had a look of terror in her eyes.
She glanced at Archie, and then back at me; her face full of terror, she was obviously afraid of something...or someone. I helped her off the ground, and explained that I was going to take her somewhere safe.
Archie nodded, before smiling softly at her; he spoke.
"You can trust us, we're not going to hurt you"
The woman nodded, before we led her back into town; I spotted my parents, as they were heading into the station. I thanked Archie, before he headed back to his office.
I walked into the station, the woman walked in behind me; my dad led her to one of the interrogation rooms, before walking out to join us.
I found the dream catcher, as it would probably be able to help us; that's if she was completely honest as to why she was here, and why she was in the forest.
We stood there, watching her; she didn't seem nervous, especially for someone who running away from a crime scene.
My mom spoke.
"I guess Shirin, was after more; than just a fulfilling career in education"
My mom knew her? Why am I not surprised, who doesn't she know? I spoke.
"If that's even her real name, let's go find out"
My dad and I made our way into the interrogation room, I sat down; my dad stood behind me, as I spoke.
"So, let's talk; who are you really Shirin? What are you doing here? Let us help you. Tell us who you are"
She stared at me, before speaking.
"I...I can't tell you, I've had to keep my true self; secret for many years, in the Land of Untold Stories. Hyde...he could use this against me..."
My dad spoke.
"Hyde's dead"
Shirin looked at us, uncertainty in her eyes; as she spoke again.
"Really?..."
I could tell she was afraid, now I know why; I spoke again.
"Yeah, he's gone; you don't have to be afraid of him"
She sighed softly, before speaking again.
"I'm Princess Jasmine, of Agrabah..." She's Princess Jasmine? As in Disney Princess Jasmine? I shook my head, as she continued. "And I swear to you, I am innocent of this crime"
I sighed softly, before speaking again.
"I believe you"
She stared at me, before speaking.
"Really?"
I answered.
"I have, kind of a super power"
My dad sat down beside me, before he spoke.
"So if it wasn't you, who was it?"
She shrugged, before answering.
"I have no idea, that girl; she was my friend, she was helping me find a man...who I cared about a long time ago..."
My eyes widened, surely; she couldn't be talking about Aladdin? I spoke "Aladdin?" Jasmine's eyes widened, as she spoke. "You know him?"
I answered.
"No, I just saw the movie..." I noticed the confusion on her face, so I continued. "It's a this world thing, but where is he?"
She spoke again.
"I wish, I knew; he was quite special, he was...the saviour"
My dad and I spoke at the same time.
"What?..."
Aladdin's a saviour? Or was a saviour, I'm not sure what to think; and based on the look on Jasmine's face, even she's not sure.
I also couldn't help but wonder if, that's what Hyde meant. Did he know Aladdin? He must have known him, because he said I wasn't the first saviour that he encountered.
I sat back in the chair, as Jasmine's gaze met mine; I knew I had to help her, as it's the only way I'm going to get answers...
