Ch23 - Street Rats Pt3 (Finding Aladdin)
I know, I need to apologise to Killian; but I also need to find Aladdin...
I moved towards the couch, sitting down; keeping my gaze on the floor, I figured it would be best if I kept my distance for now.
I know, I should have been honest; from the start, but I wanted to handle it myself. I didn't want to worry them, but thanks to the Evil Queen; they now know.
My mom, sat down beside my dad; I could see the fear in their eyes, as they glanced at me. Killian was standing near the ladder to my old bedroom, he hasn't looked at me; since Regina left, I felt a dull ache in my chest.
Almost, as if; my heart is a dead weight, I know, I shouldn't have lied to him, I'll never forget the hurt look on his face.
I peered up, about to say something; an apology on my lips. I opened my mouth to speak, when I got a text from Regina.
"I'm almost ready"
I took that, as a reason to leave; I mumbled something, as I left. I'm not sure, if they heard me; I left, without looking back.
I made the short journey to Regina's vault, when I got there; I walked down the steps, making my way underground. I spotted her, as she was mixing the final ingredients; I spoke.
"You took off, kind of quickly"
She spoke.
"Well I'm sorry. I'm trying to save your life"
I sighed softly, knowing she was only trying to help me; I spoke again. "Fair enough"
She looked at me then, as she spoke. "How's Henry?"
My heart clenched as I thought about our son, she continued. "How are you?"
I thought, while trying to form the words, before answering. "Honestly, anxious to figure this out"
Regina, continued mixing different liquids; and other creepy looking things into a cup, I spoke.
"What are we making, in this jar of nightmares?"
She continued adding ingredients, as she spoke.
"It's a different kind of, locater spell"
A locater spell? But I thought...I spoke.
"I thought everything Aladdin had, was hot property"
She raised her arms slightly, before answering.
"So did I, but then I realised; there's one thing, Aladdin didn't steal...his magic" she raises the goblet, before continuing. "This potion, links like magic; in this case, the magic of two saviours"
I nodded, in understanding; as I spoke.
"Mine and Aladdin's"
She nodded softly, before speaking. "All you have to do is drink"
She handed the goblet to me, as she continued. "Let's go find Aladdin..."
I took the goblet from her, drinking the contents in one go; flinching as it went down, god that was horrible. I froze, as it began to take hold; I text Henry, asking him to meet us at the vault.
He replied instantly, explaining that Killian and Jasmine wanted to join us too; I sent a quick reply, agreeing to them tagging along, as we made our way out of the vault.
Regina smiled at me, before speaking.
"Are you ok?"
I nodded, before speaking.
"I'm fine, just didn't expect it; to kick in so fast"
We made our way back upstairs, so I could grab the supplies I gathered earlier; Regina turned, as we heard voices. I looked up as Henry came towards us; Killian and Jasmine, walking behind him.
I smiled at Henry, who returned it; when I looked up to smile at Killian, he didn't acknowledge me. We then headed deeper into the cemetery; I walked ahead of everyone; Henry walked behind me, followed by Regina, Killian and Jasmine.
As we walked, I could feel the pull of the locator spell; as it rugged me through the forest, I spoke as we got closer to Aladdin's location.
"We're getting close, it's...it's like we're connected"
I stopped, as I felt something; I gasped, I knew where he was. I spoke.
"It's this way"
We stopped outside some kind of crypt, why the hell does Storybrooke have a crypt? I guess Regina really thought of everything, when she created this place.
Killian looked at me, his eyes lacked their usual spark; I smiled softly, as he walked ahead of me. We made our way inside, I spoke.
"This is the place, he's here"
Regina spoke.
"Here? Were directly under the cemetery, in...some kind of forgotten..." I finished her sentence. "Crypt"
Jasmine spoke. "This is a crypt? Aladdin, can't be here...you must have made some kind of mistake"
I looked at her, before speaking.
"I don't think so"
Killian spoke, directly to Jasmine.
"Why don't we wait outside, while the others look around?"
She spoke, while reaching for one of the flashlights.
"No, give me one of those torches"
I watched, as she then walked over to one of the bodies; before turning, to look at another one, she lifted something off one of the corpses.
She gasped, I then spoke.
"Jasmine?"
She kept her back to me, as she spoke.
"You were right, he is here"
She cried softly, as she finished speaking.
Regina spoke, sadness; evident in her voice.
"Are you?...Are you sure, that's Aladdin?"
She sniffled, as she turned; speaking, as she did.
"Yes..."
That's when I noticed, she had some kind of broach in her hand; it must have belonged to Aladdin. So if it's here, on that body; does that mean Aladdin is dead?
Regina spoke again.
"I'm so sorry" as she led Jasmine out of the crypt; I heard movement behind me.
Henry spoke.
"Mom...does this mean?..."
I looked at him, unsure of what to say; I tried to think, I swallowed softly. I then spoke.
"I...I don't know, I think I need to be alone for a minute"
I turned to face the bodies again, as I heard them leave; so...Aladdin's dead, if he's dead; then I'm going to die. And there's nothing I can do about it.
I could sense someone looking at me, if I had to guess it was probably Killian; I heard footsteps, as he left. I crouched down, leaning against one of the pillars; as my hand began to shake again, which triggered the vision.
I tried to still my hand, I jumped slightly; as Henry spoke.
"Mom?"
I gasped, as I spoke.
"Kid..."
I sighed, before continuing.
"I said, I wanted to be alone"
He sighed, before speaking. "I know, but..." he paused, as he crouched down to face me; he then continued. "I'm so sorry..."
What's he got to be sorry for? Why is he apologising? I'm the one that's going to die, I'm the one that's leaving; not him.
I spoke. "What?"
I reached out, placing my hand on his arm; as he continued.
"This is all my fault"
I spoke again, confusion evident in my tone; as I did.
"What? What are you saying?"
He sighed softly, before answering.
"If I never knocked on your door, if I never dragged you to Storybrooke in the first place; none of this would be happening...I forced you to become the saviour"
He didn't force me into anything, I spoke; softly, as I looked at him.
"You didn't force me, into anything; you helped me believe"
He looked at me, as he spoke again.
"Believing, won't stop the future"
I sighed internally, as I stared at him; wanting...no wishing for him to believe; he needs to believe that everything's going to be ok, even if it isn't.
I spoke again, trying to keep my tone light; as I did.
"Maybe not...but it gave me a family, it made me a mother, I have actual magic in my life; I have you...if I could go back, I wouldn't change a thing"
I felt tears build up in my eyes, and I noticed that Henry's eyes were clouded with unshed tears too. He was going to need my family, to get through this; he would need my parents, Regina and Killian.
I need to make sure, he won't be alone; I looked at him, trying not to cry as he spoke again.
"But it's not fair"
I sighed again, as my heart broke for him; I then spoke.
"Oh, kid" I pulled him up, as I stood upright; I continued.
"Let's not, worry about the end of this story; ok? Endings usually suck, lets just...enjoy the middle, the journey together"
I pulled him in for a hug, holding him tight; I sighed against his shoulder, not wanting to let go. I heard a faint rattling sound, and that's when Henry spoke.
"Someone's there" I pushed him away, ready to defend myself and Henry.
I spoke.
"Stand back, I got this" My hand shaking, as I prepared to blast whoever it was back; they then revealed themselves, they spoke.
"Sure, you know how to work that?"
Who?...No, it couldn't be; I spoke.
"Aladdin?"
My hand was still shaking, as he spoke again.
"From one saviour, to another; that's no fun, is it?"
So if he's here? Then why was the broach on one of the corpses? Did he plant it? I stood there, looking at him; not sure, what to think.
If he's here, does that mean; there's hope for me? That I won't die? He lifted something out of his pocket, a pair of scissors; he explained that they can be used to sever a saviour from their magic.
I spoke.
"You used them?"
He nodded, before speaking.
"Yeah I did, and Agrabah fell; so I fled to the Enchanted Forest, and got swept up in the curse"
Wait? He's been here, the entire time? No wonder Jasmine couldn't find him.
Henry spoke.
"So, you've been in Storybrooke, this entire time?"
He nodded, before answering.
"Lucky for me, the Sheriff's in town; are too busy, saving the world to notice a common thief"
I glanced at him, as he continued.
"A very good one, to their credit"
I sighed softly, before speaking.
"So you planted the scarab, you didn't want us; to find you"
He nodded, before speaking.
"I never intended to reveal myself, but after hearing you and the boy; I couldn't keep these to myself"
He handed me the scissors, or shears; I guess, I took them. Looking down as I did, that's when Henry spoke again.
"But Jasmine, she's looking for you; you...you need to go to her"
Aladdin, looked at us; before speaking again.
"She was the first person, to believe; I could be more than, just a selfish street rat. I can't see the look in her eyes, when she realises; that's exactly what I am"
So that's why he used the shears? He wanted to be normal, he didn't want to be a Saviour anymore; I spoke.
"I was...I am a street rat too, I made plenty of mistakes; but I found people, who kept me strong and cared about me. As much as Jasmine, clearly cares about you; maybe, the real mistake was keeping the saviour burden to yourself..."
He spoke again.
"Our story, never even begun"
Wait what? But the movie?...
I spoke again.
"You two never...in the movie, you..."
He spoke, regret; obvious in his voice as he did.
"Duty, always got in the way" Henry spoke. "It's never too late, to start"
Aladdin nodded, thanking us; before he went to find Jasmine, my heart beating regularly again. Hopefully they would be able to work things out, and get their happy ending.
I just hoped after today, I still had a chance to get mine; or get it back on track, Henry and I left the crypt. Making our way back to the loft, I placed the shears in my pocket; as we headed home.
Henry placed his arm, around my waist; staying close, as we made our way up the stairs to the loft. He opened the door, and we were greeted by Regina; and Killian, who still looked less than pleased.
I sat down, and lifted the shears from my pocket, before explaining what happened
"After you guys left, Henry came to talk to me; and then we met Aladdin..."
Regina spoke.
"Wait, I thought..."
I shook my head, before answering.
"Yeah, he's alive; because he used these..."
I handed her the shears, before explaining their purpose; Regina quipped.
"A pair of scissors? Why does magic, always have to be so literal?"
She was right, before I could say anything; my parents walked in, my dad spoke.
"We came, as soon as we could" My mom spoke. "Still no sign of Archie" She made her way over, she spotted the shears; she continued. "Are those..."
Killian spoke.
"Aye, they are"
I spoke, while trying to explain why I had them.
"Look, I brought those here; because I'm done with secrets, but I do not want to use them"
My mom protested. "Emma..." I continued.
"Just hear me out, Aladdin didn't trust the people he loved; and that's why he failed...but I believe, in us to find a third way; it's kind of what we do. But if we don't, and my magic does come with a price; I will pay it, the saviour...is what I am, but I am also part of a family"
My mom spoke again, while handing the shears back to me. "Well, I choose; to believe in us too" My dad spoke. "We all do. We can protect you, and we can protect this town"
Killian, spoke; understanding, clear in his tone; as he did. "If that's what you want, I'm with you Swan"
He placed his hand on the table, I placed mine on top of it; I spoke. "Hey, I'm sorry" He looked at me, and his expression; broke me, he looked so sad. I spoke again. "I'm sorry, I didn't trust you; no more secrets..."
I lifted the shears up, handing them to him; I spoke again.
"Take them, I don't want them used as a weapon; if they fell into the wrong hands. We need to be sure, to be rid of them"
He nodded, before standing; he spoke.
"I know, just the place" He looked at me, as he spoke again. "Swan?" I stood up, as he opened the door; I walked out ahead of him, he let it close behind him.
I moved to walk down the stairs, only to be stopped; I gasped softly, as Killian pulled me into a hug. His arms tightened around my waist, as mine went around his neck; he leaned up, kissing my forehead softly.
He pulled back, smiling softly; as he led me downstairs, we then began walking in the direction of the docks. We came to a stop, beside a small boat; he climbed into it, before speaking.
"I'll throw them, as far away as possible; I'll be back in a couple of minutes"
I nodded, as he began rowing away from the dock; I tried to keep my gaze on him, but he was hidden by the light fog that surrounded us.
I spotted him coming back, so I walked towards him; standing. He climbed out of the boat, walking towards me; before speaking.
"They're thousands of leagues under the sea, no one will ever find them; not even Poseidon himself" I smiled softly, before pulling him into a kiss; silently thanking him.
I pulled back slightly, before speaking. "Thank you" He smiled softly, before looking up at the sky; he spoke. "There's a storm coming"
I smiled, as I spoke.
"Seems like the perfect night, for a fire and some hot buttered rum..."
He smirked at my light tone, before he spoke.
"Yeah, sounds like heaven; I just need to check in on the old girl, secure the rigging"
I nodded in understanding, before speaking again.
"Pizza or Chinese?"
He smiled again, before answering; in a soft, gentle tone.
"Your hearts desire, Swan; I promise, that's all I want you to have"
He leaned in to kiss me again, I sighed internally; knowing that all was forgiven, I always hated when we fought, or if we were mad at each other.
I smiled, before turning; making my way back home, I took the long way home. When I got there, I started a fire; before going into the kitchen, grabbing the bottle of rum that was in the cabinet beside the sink.
I then took my phone out of my pocket, before ordering the food; for some reason, Chinese food goes well with rum. I placed the order, before lifting out a small pan; pouring the rum into it.
Before adding the butter, heating it slightly; I was just about finished, ready to pour it into the glasses I had set on the counter.
When the front door opened, I lifted the glasses; before walking to the door, to greet Killian. I spoke.
"All good?"
He smiled at me, before taking one of the glasses from me; before answering.
"Aye, she's secure"
He smiled again, before taking a sip; before leaning in to kiss me again, he pulled back before speaking.
"So what did you decide?"
I smiled, before answering.
"Chinese"
He kissed me again, as he led me towards the fire; we sat down on the couch, watching the flames dance. As we waited for our food to arrive.
