Ch25 - Heartless

We've dealt with Hyde, we've dealt with my visions; we even found Aladdin, the only thing we haven't dealt with is the Evil Queen. My dad has the day off, so I'm catching up on some paperwork.

I stared at the stack on my desk, sighing; knowing I would have to do it at some point, I groaned as I reached for the file on my desk. I was reading it, when my phone buzzed; it was my dad.

I answered.

"Hey dad, shouldn't you be relaxing?"

He spoke.

"I was, until the Evil Queen; threatened your mother"

I gasped, before speaking.

"Where are you?"

He answered.

"We're at Granny's, I've called Regina; she's on her way"

I spoke again.

"I'll be there in a couple of minutes"

He thanked me, before ending the call; I then text Killian.

"We have a problem! Evil Queen, threatened my mom; meet me at Granny's"

He text back, immediately; I smiled softly, at his response.

"On my way, love"

I grabbed my jacket, before heading to Granny's; when I got there; I spotted Regina and Henry, standing next to my my parents. As I got closer, that's when I noticed my mom was as white as a sheet.

What the hell did she say to her? I spoke.

"Mom, are you ok?"

She looked at me, smiling softly; but I noticed it didn't reach her eyes. She answered, not sounding completely convincing; as she did.

"I'm fine, honey"

Yeah she's not fine, but before I could say anything else; Killian came round the corner, he made his way towards us. I smiled, as he spoke to my parents; before turning to face me, he smiled at me.

Regina lifted, the glass vial; examining it, as my dad spoke. "If we don't give into her, she'll use that on Everyone?"

My mom spoke. "Yes" Regina spoke, as she lifted the glass vial. "So what is it?" My mom answered. "She told me to figure it out"

She trailed off, as Regina stood up; while holding the vial, my mom continued. "And if we don't, give over our hearts; within 12 hours, she would use it on the whole town"

I reached for the vial, my hand shaking as I did, my mom spoke.

"Are you ok?"

I sighed, before answering.

"No. But I have an excuse, haven't you heard? The Evil Queen is trying to kill my parents"

My dad spoke, confusion evident in his tone; as he did.

"You said, we are alive and well in your vision of the future" They were, I sighed as I spoke again. "The oracle said, things could kind of change; as we went along, but the only thing that was certain, was that I died"

Regina spoke.

"Speaking of death, I think I know what this is" She turned, looking at the small crooked tree; in the middle of the patio. She walked towards it, opening the small bottle; pouring it onto the tree.

Within seconds, the tree went black; drying up, the leaves disappearing instantly. My eyes widened. What the hell? What was that? My dad spoke.

"What kind of potion is that?" Regina turned to face us, before speaking. "It's not a potion, it's water"

Killian spoke.

"I knew it, never trusted the stuff; rum would never do that" I smiled softly, at his quip; I spoke. "What kind of water?"

Regina looked at us, before speaking.

"From the river of lost souls..." she paused, as she pieced everything together. "Gold...She's working with Gold! He brought it back from the Underworld, and now if you don't give her your hearts; she can destroy the whole town"

I don't even want to know how, that would be possible; but I'm not going to let her, she won't get what she wants. She's not getting their hearts!

My eyes drifted to the tree, which was now dead; my parents got up, my dad smiled reassuringly at me. As he escorted my mom, down the street.

I text him, letting him know; that Henry and Regina were heading back to my place, I phoned Belle. It rang a couple of times, before she answered.

"Hey Emma"

I smiled, before speaking.

"Hey, so I'm with Regina; The Evil Queen gave my mom some water from the River of Lost Souls, and we were wondering if there's any way to stop its magical properties?"

She answered.

"I'm not sure, but I'll check my books; where are you?"

I answered.

"We're at Granny's, but we're heading to my place; can you meet us there?"

She answered.

"I'll be there, as soon as I can"

I thanked her, before ending the call.

I then text my dad, letting him know; that we were headed to my place. He text back, saying that he and my mom would meet us there.

When we got back to mine and Killian's place, my parents were standing outside; I looked at my mom, she still looked pale. I placed my hand on her shoulder, she smiled at me; before speaking.

"I'm ok Emma, I promise"

I nodded, knowing deep down; she wasn't, we then went inside. We made our way into the kitchen, my mom sat down; my dad stood off to the side, Henry, Killian and Regina all stood around the room.

I sat down, my gaze drifting to the glass bottle of death. We weren't there long, when the doorbell rang; I opened the door, it was Belle. I stood aside, to let her in; she spoke.

"Is everyone here?"

I nodded, before answering.

"Yeah, we're all here"

She nodded, before making her way inside; as she walked into the kitchen, she greeted Killian. He smiled at her, she then greeted Henry; Regina smiled at her, her gaze fell on the glass bottle.

I sat down again, as she spoke.

"Is that?..."

Regina nodded, before answering.

"Yes"

Our gazes trained on the glass bottle, I spoke.

"You don't seemed shocked, that Gold brought some of this back...and gave it to the Queen"

Belle sighed, before answering.

"I'm not, he's not acting like the man; he could be, I wish I could help" As she moved away from the table, I could sense he frustration; as she did.

She spoke again.

"But I've, looked through all my books; for any information on how to neutralise water, from the River of Lost Souls. But I'm afraid, there's nothing...I'll keep looking"

We thanked her, before she left. The door didn't close, as Blue walked in; she spoke. "I'm sorry to interrupt, I came as quickly as I could. David called me, and told me what happened"

She stared at the bottle, as my mom spoke.

"Can you help?" Blue shook her head, as she answered. "Unfortunately, I don't have a way to; counteract, the Lost Soul's water" My dad sighed, before he spoke. "So we either let the whole town die, or the Evil Queen; gets exactly what she's always wanted"

Blue spoke again.

"Maybe, but there is a bit of magic; that might be powerful enough, to imprison the Evil Queen..." We all looked at her, as she continued. "It's a sapling"

So, we need a baby tree; to trap the Evil Queen? My dad spoke. "A baby tree?" Blue continued. "It was created, by the first spark of a true love; its incredibly rare"

Killian spoke.

"Have you got one?"

Blue shook her head, as she spoke again.

"We had one, back in the Enchanted Forest; we assumed it was left behind, in the curse...but now, we think; it might be lost somewhere here, in Storybrooke"

It's here? That's a good sign, this could be what we need to stop The Evil Queen from taking my parent's hearts. I spoke.

"There has to be some like...magical way, to find it right?" Blue nodded, as she answered. "There is a spell, that could point the way; with a sort of beacon...but it wouldn't be visible, to just us"

Great, so it could alert the Evil Queen to our plan; there's always a drawback, she continued.

"If Gold, or the Queen, or even Zelena; saw it, they would know exactly what it was"

My dad spoke.

"Then, we'd have a race on our hands" Regina spoke. "Maybe not" Huh? I spoke. "What?"

Regina looked at us, before speaking again.

"The Evil Queen and Gold's alliance...there may be more to it, than business..." More than business? What?...No, my eyes widened; as she continued. "Rumple and I...there was always a certain amount of chemistry"

Wow! The Evil Queen and Rumplestiltskin? Didn't see that one coming, I spoke.

"Regina, oh my god"

She spoke.

"I know...I know, nothing ever happened; but I think, we could use this to our advantage"

She got up, before finding a note pad; she wrote something down, before showing it to us. "Meet me, at Gold's shop; The Queen"

She spoke.

"It's for Zelena"

I nodded, in understanding; knowing exactly what she was getting at, a honey trap. She magicked it to Zelena, hopefully when she got it; she'd fall for it...
