AN: So I may have gotten confused with the episodes, you see my mental health has taken a nosedive and I've been distracted; but that's no reason to screw things up, I made the mistake of saying that the previous chapter was from S6 Ep13, when it was actually from S6 Ep12. So I'm sorry if, I caused any confusion; so I'm continuing with S6 Ep12. In this chapter, Emma and Henry realise that they don't have the life jackets, it will contain dialogue from the episode; as well as a couple of in-between scenes.

Ch42 - Lifejackets

When we got to the harbour, I noticed there was a two person canoe sitting; I smiled, as we got out of the car. Henry looked at me, and then at the canoe; he spoke.

"You ready, mom?"

I nodded, before remembering we needed lifejackets; I spoke.

"Hey kid, did you bring the lifejackets?"

His eyes widened, before he looked at the ground; he mumbled something, I spoke again.

"What was that, kid?"

He lifted his head, before repeating himself; loud enough for me to hear.

"I forgot to get them, from the garage"

I nodded, before speaking.

"It's alright, you wait here; I'll be back in a few minutes"

He nodded, as I got into the car again; Henry waved at me, as I headed off. I headed in the direction of my place, coming to a quick stop; as I parked outside.

I rushed round, the side of the house; I heard a familiar voice, as I rounded the corner. It was Killian, I felt confused; as I couldn't understand, why was he outside.

He met me half way, as he spoke.

"Hey love, what happened to the canoe trip?"

I smiled, as I answered.

"Oh Henry, I love him; but he forgot the lifejackets" I walked towards him, before lightly poking him in the chest; I continued. "And you're the one, always going on; about boat safety"

He pulled me back slightly, as he spoke again; in that light, teasing tone.

"I can't let you in there"

I laughed, as I answered.

"Why not?"

He pulled me closer, before speaking. "Because, I just really; desperately need to kiss you" with that he tried pulling me into a kiss.

I spoke. "Wait!" I laughed, as I continued. "Hang on!"

He looked at me, as I managed to dodge his kiss; I spoke again.

"You've forgotten something" He smiled at me, as he spoke. "What's that?" I took the opportunity to look at him; my superpower, went into overdrive. Yeah he's definitely hiding something.

I kept my gaze on his, I continued.

"My superpower, I know; when you're lying"

His expression changed, the second I mentioned lying; I spoke again.

"What, are you hiding from me?"

He looked at me, before averting his gaze; he spoke.

"The truth is, umm...I'm a bit out of sorts; because of Archie"

Archie? What's he got to do with this? I spoke, confusion lacing my tone.

"Archie?"

I studied Killian's features, as he continued.

"Yeah, I paid the cricket a visit; because I needed to talk to him about...about you"

Me? The confusion I felt a second ago, grew tenfold; as I stared at him, trying to understand what was going on.

I spoke.

"Oh"

He sighed, before averting his gaze briefly; before looking at me again, speaking as he did.

"I thought, you were gonna die; and that does something to a man, it changes the way he thinks about things...about us"

His gaze drifted, to something over my shoulder; he seemed tense, was there something else, that he wanted to tell me?

Maybe, he felt like he couldn't; I hope that whatever it is, he figures everything out. He looked at me again, as he spoke.

"And he reminded me, how important it was to share my feelings; and I didn't want to let you, in that shed, without sharing them...so, feelings shared"

I smiled at him, speaking as I placed my hand; on the back of his head. "Well, I like feelings...once in a while" I placed my lips on his, and after a few seconds; I allowed him to deepen the kiss slightly.

After a couple of minutes, I pulled away; as I remembered why I was here, and what I needed to retrieve.

I sighed, as I spoke; while feeling breathless.

"Now, why was I here?" I looked at him, raising my hands slightly; before continuing. "Lifejackets, right"

I smiled at Killian again, before making my way to the garage; once inside, I found the lifejackets. I grinned, as I lifted them; before turning to leave again.

When I got outside, Killian was gone; my superpower, went into overdrive again. I shook my head, as I climbed back into the car; before heading back to the harbour, and to where Henry was waiting for me.

When I got there, Henry was standing beside the canoe; he spoke.

"Mom, did you get the lifejackets?"

I nodded, as I spoke.

"Yeah, now here; put this on; and then, we'll get this mother, son bonding canoe trip, underway"

He nodded, before securing it around his body; before climbing into the canoe. I grinned, as he turned to face me; he spoke.

"Come on mom"

I nodded, before securing my own lifejacket; before climbing into the canoe. I took a breath, as Henry lifted his oar; I spoke again.

"Hey kid, do you know what you're doing with that thing?"

He turned, slightly; to face me, he laughed as he spoke.

"It's going to be fine mom"

I nodded, before looking down; I spotted another oar, I guess I should use that one. I lifted it, while copying Henry's movements; and after a few minutes, I got the hang of it.

This, was going to be fun...
