An old man with a long white beard walks down Private Drive before he comes to number 4. He stares intently at the house for a moment before he looks at the bundle in his arms. "I'm so sorry about your parents, young Harry. Your relatives are not the most friendly bunch, but they are your relatives and should provide an adequate home for you."
The bundle in his arms, Harry Potter, looks up with his huge emerald eyes as if comprehending what Albus Dumbledore has just said. The boy sniffles some before shutting his eyes and falling into a fitful sleep. The boy, Harry, had lost his parents not even two hours beforehand and declared the wizarding world's saviour. Albus looks at the boy for a few more moments before kissing the boy's scarred forehead and setting him on number 4's doorstep. He sets a note on top of the boy explaining who the boy is and what he is doing there. Albus glances at the house one more time before leaving and not looking back, never seeing the eyes watching him from a distance.
Cruel silver eyes watch as the headmaster places the baby on the doorstep of a muggle home and then leaves. Lucius Malfoy is a really powerful and really rich man and is currently really, really angry. Tonight he had lost his master and what power the inner circle had given him. Luckily for him, he had enough money and influence to keep himself out of Azkaban regardless of his many crimes. After the old man leaves, Lucius carefully steps out of his hiding place and slowly walks to number 4. Lucius picks up the baby and stares at him. "So you're the Boy-Who-Lived. A little small for such a big title, aren't you? I don't think you would like living with these horrible muggles, would you? After all, such a pretty boy would make a beautiful gift when the time comes, if taught well."
Lucius quickly takes the baby and the letter leaving no evidence of a child ever being there and apparates away. The residents of number 4, the Dursleys, continue sleeping never knowing of the Potter's deaths, and never knowing of the child whisked away in the night.
