The next chapter is posted! Enjoy :)
They chatted for a little longer.
Natalie wanted to leave the bed. But she still had her topless situation going. So, Yeyinde had to sacrifice a loincloth from one of his compartment drawers.
He tore one in half and made it a smaller strip, then helped her tie it around her chest.
In the end, it looked like a boob tube kind of top. She can only hope that it holds and won't fall down. Despite the fact that it seemed snug enough around her small torso.
At least, her cotton pants were spared. But with how heated this ship is, it may turn into a nightmare wearing them.
"I'll try and see if I can get you some small'er clothes. Or at the most, try to make some." He told her.
"Thanks. I appreciate you lending me one of your bottoms. Just sorry you had to destroy it in the process though." She replied.
Yeyinde just shrugs, "I have a lot, some losing one doesn't mat'ter."
Just then, there was a beeping sound by the door.
"What's that?" Natalie asks.
"Some'one is at the door." Yeyinde said.
He got up to see who it was.
The door slid open, and he was face to face with Kv'var-de, another fellow hunter and friend.
"Gkaun-yte, Kv'var-de. Do you need something?" Yeyinde inquired.
The other yautja just slightly tilted his head.
"Just came to see how you're doing. You've been holed up in here for most of the time since you arrived back on the ship. Everything ok? Larja-Thwei said the ooman you came back with was your new pet." Kv'var-de said.
Yeyinde growled in annoyance.
"H'ko, she's not a pet. She's a friend that was injured and needed assistance." He replied.
Kv'var-de furrowed his eye ridges in confusion.
"A friend? The ooman is your friend?" He inquired.
"Hasn't my brother told you and the others anything?" Yeyinde asked.
Kv'var-de shook his head.
"H'ko, he didn't. Though I did hear him say he wanted to contact your father at some point. Figured it had to do with your ooman. Where is it by the way?" Kv'var-de asked.
"It's a 'she' and she's inside. Just woke up not that long ago." He replied.
"So, you going to make me stand out here all day? Or you going to allow me in and introduce me to your new friend?" Kv'var-de asked.
Yeyinde thought about it for a moment. He supposed Kv'var-de was harmless enough. He always met knew things with curiosity rather than hostility. Unless it's prey that is.
"You have your translator on you, or do you need to borrow mine?" Yeyinde asked.
Kv'var-de pointed down to one of his wrist gauntlets, indicating he did have one on him.
Yeyinde nodded then stepped aside and allowed him in.
The new hunter looked around and spotted her near Yeyinde's desk. She seemed quie fascinated with the holographic images being displayed over it. But her gaze did turn to him when he walked in.
Natalie looked at the newcomer. He was quite large, around the same height as Yeyinde, albeit a little bulkier. His tube-like hair was a little shorter than Yeyinde's. And while Yeyinde was most dark green in color, this new one was mostly a pale yellowish color.
"Nat'alie, this is Kv'var-de, a friend and fel'low hun'ter. He just came in to say, 'Hi'." Yeyinde explained.
She gave him a small smile and wave, "Hi."
He pressed a couple buttons on his wrist gauntlet then spoke. She listened as his words shifted and came out in her language via an animatronic voice.
"Hello, nice to meet you. Yeyinde driving you crazy yet?" Kv'var-de asked.
Yeyinde rolled his eyes and grunted. Kv'var-de and his jokes.
Natalie let out a small chuckle, "Been driving me crazy for the last few months. But I've kind of gotten used to it."
As she spoke, his translator relayed everything back in his language. And he let out a small trill at her remark.
"Try growing up with him. It was quite amusing to say the least." The yellow yautja replied.
"I can believe it." She replied.
"Standing right here you know." Yeyinde said.
Then they listened to his words get repeated in English over the translator and both Natalie and Kv'var-de just grinned in amusement at him.
"I'm starting to wonder if it was a good idea introducing you two." Yeyinde quipped.
Again, his words registered over the translator, so Natalie knew what they were saying.
"Why not? He seems funny." Natalie teased.
Kv'var-de just trilled again, "Yeah. I'm funny. You're the stick in the mud."
"I'm plenty funny, ask her your'self." Yeyinde stated, in English though.
Kv'var-de looked at him in surprise.
"She taught you, her language? Sounds like you speak it pretty well." Kv'var-de said.
"What else was there to do? We were stuck in a cell together for the better part of three months." Yeyinde told him.
"I'm sorry to hear that happened. I'm very glad you managed to escape though. It's great to have you back." Kv'var-de replied.
Natalie could still hear everything being translated as they spoke. It sounded like the two were indeed very good friends. The yellow yautja's gaze then went back to her.
"I can understand why oomans put Yeyinde in a cell. But why were you in a cell too?" He inquired.
It baffled the other hunter as to why oomans would imprison one of their own like that.
She shifted on her feet a little, before opening her mouth to answer his question.
"Because I happened to be in the same alleyway that Yeyinde was fighting a few men. After they knocked him out, they noticed me there. They ended up knocking me out and taking me because they didn't want any witnesses." Natalie explained as best as she could.
"Really? All because you witnessed him there hunting, they took you? Oomans really are a strange bunch. No offence." Kv'var-de stated.
Natalie arched a brow, "Hunting? Yeyinde never said anything about hunting. He said he just happened to be there when one of those men shot one of the others because he heard the gunshot from a roof up above."
Kv'var-de just looked at her then looked back to Yeyinde. The latter was currently looking away.
"Yeyinde, you never told her? Why you were on Earth to begin with?" He inquired.
"She didn't need to know, Kv'var-de. It would've only scared her if she knew." Yeyinde replied.
He must've forgotten the translator was still running. Because it still continued to translate every word the hunters were saying to each other in English.
"Yeyinde, what's he talking about? Just what exactly were you hunting?" Natalie demanded.
Kv'var-de realized he made a mistake bringing up the hunting. But there was nothing they could do now. Though he feels the young woman would've found out sooner or later.
Yeyinde closed his eyes and sighed, before he turned his gaze to her.
"I...was on Ear'th to...hunt hu'mans. It's what yautja do. We go to differ'ent worlds and hunt the most chal'lenging prey. On your world, it hap'pens to be your kind." He confessed.
Natalie stood there frozen. Her stomach dropped at his confession. She had learned at some point that he was a hunter or warrior of some kind. But she still couldn't have imagined he was on her world intentionally hunting humans.
"And just when...were you going to tell me this." She ground out.
"Perhaps, I should go. I am sorry, for bringing it up. Still, it was nice meeting you." Kv'var-de said, sensing the obvious tension in the room now.
He gave her a small bow of his head. Then briefly placed a hand on Yeyinde's shoulder and patted it on the way out.
"Well? I'm waiting. Tell me." She demanded.
Yeyinde could tell she was getting more upset by the minute.
"I'm sorry, Nat'alie. I didn't know how to tell you. I didn't want to sc'are you." He tried explaining.
She averted her gaze to the floor, still having a hard time digesting everything she'd just heard.
"I can understand hunting. But what I don't understand, is how you can hunt an intelligent being not so different from your own. Because some appearances aside, were really not that much different from you.
We're both bipedal, we're both warm blooded. We both have the capacity for higher thinking and complex emotions. How can you hunt someone that is more than capable of communicating with you if given the chance to learn?
Because in a way, it really doesn't sound any different than murder at this point." Natalie stated.
Yeyinde almost flinched at the word 'murder'. But his kind just never saw it that way. If there was a prey that was challenging enough, they went and hunted it. It's only been that way since the beginning of time for his race.
But he's finding it hard to communicate that to her. Still, he knew he had to, she had to understand why that is.
"It's just al'ways been that way, Nat'alie. My kind, since the begin'ning, have al'ways sc'oured the deep reach'es of sp'ace to find be'ings that will pro'vide them with a chal'lenge. It's some'thing that has al'ways been deep'ly in'grained into our bl'ood. To you, it may seem wrong. But for yautja, it's al'ways been our way of life." Yeyinde told her.
Natalie hung on to every word he said. She can understand this is what his people do. What they've always done since the beginning. But it still irked her that they would come to her world and choose to hunt humans.
Probably, because when she thinks of hunters, they are people that hunt wild animals. And humans didn't exactly fit into that category.
Still, she also cannot tell him what he can or cannot do. Or how to live his life. Even if she does find all of this to be an egregious wrong in so many different ways.
"It's not that I don't understand. I do. It's just, try and look at it from my perspective. If someone out there was hunting your kind for sport, wouldn't that bother you too?" She implied.
"Techni'cally, we do. There are those of my kind that hunt bad bl'oods. They are crimin'als that break our laws. But I still get what you mean. I suppose from your posi'tion it would both'er me as well." He admitted.
Well, she can't really say anything there. There are humans that have jobs hunting other humans. They are usually called bounty hunters. Then there are also assassins and hit men too. Most of these people get paid for it too. Though, most humans would still find that notion quite fucked up.
"Just answer me one question." She inquired.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Is that the only thing you kept from me? Or is there more? And if there is, can you please tell me? If I'm going to be here with you, I don't want there to be anymore secrets between us." Natalie said.
"Fair e'nough. But no, there reall'y isn't any'thing else. But you said one ques'tion. That was th'ree." He teased.
She couldn't help the small smile that broke out on her face, nor the small chuckle that left her lips. It seems like no matter what, he has a way of making her laugh.
"Ok, Smart Ass. I just wanted to be sure there was no more secrets between us." She replied.
"I'm your favor'ite sm'art ass th'ough, right?" Yeyinde joked.
Natalie started to laugh.
"I don't know, your friend Kv'var-de looks like he'd give you a run for your money battling for that title." She said between laughs.
He huffed but smiled.
"I would'nt tell him that. You might make his e'go sw'ell to ab'norm'ally large pro'por'tions." He teased.
"Can't be any worse than your swelling ego." She teased back.
"I'm not swol'len at all. If I were, I'd have to take a very cold sho'wer to make it go down." Yeyinde said, with a smirk.
It took a moment, but then it finally clicked for Natalie.
"Ewww! Seriously, Yeyinde!? Didn't need to know that!" She said.
He trilled with laughter.
"What? Not my fault your easy to tease!" Yeyinde stated.
The young woman just rolled her eyes.
"Hardly, you just seem to be very good at catching me off guard." Natalie replied.
"Likewise." He said.
She just smirks and shakes her head.
"Well, if your done with your antics, can we please go get something to eat? I'm actually quite hungry." She says.
His eyes lit up in amusement, "When are you not hun'gry? Is the ques'tion."
Natalie crosses her arms and arches a brow.
"Al'right. Let's go then. I'll take you to the mess hall." Yeyinde told her.
She approached him, and he led her out of his room to go grab some food.
Until Next Time ;)
