Since discovering I was pregnant, I haven't visited my childhood home. I left, not telling my lover, Gemini Saga. I feared "Dark" Saga would do something to myself and our unborn child, so I had no choice but to hide. The only ones who knew the real reason for my disappearance were my other lover, Aiolos, Shura, and Mu, who promised not to tell a soul where I was.
Sighs.
I knew "Dark" Saga had murdered my father, Pope Shion, which sent Aries Mū, my mother, Lepus Vittoria, and my grandparents, Puppis Draken and Eridanus Sunaya, into hiding. I knew where my mother and Mū would be as well. My grandparents were a mystery as to where they hid.
Hm.
In late January, I visited my godfather and mother in China and told the Old Tiger (Dohko) and my mother everything. My mom hugged me and wished me luck with my daughter. I looked at The Old Tiger and saw him seething with anger, a vicious slap across my face, and a low growl of anger.
"You stupid girl, you are the Shield-maiden of Athena, her Scutum Saint, the oracle of Sanctuary, and my goddaughter. How dare you defile your positions, the memory of your father, and defy Athena."
I began to sob, hearing the anger and disappointment in my godfather's voice.
" Gemini Saga will use your positions against Athena in a heartbeat, or he will turn on you without a moment's notice, you little idiot," my godfather growls.
The Old Tiger takes a dangerous step towards me, but my mom steps between my godfather and me. My mom pushes my godfather away from me. I left without another word. I haven't seen my godfather since then. I cried for days but had to be strong for my daughter.
Sighs.
So I walk through the quiet Houses of Athena as I pull my hooded cloak around me. I sighed as I passed through Pisces, wishing Aphrodite and Death Mask were less cruel than a thought came to me as I giggled quietly. I envisioned my little girl teaching these two a lesson in kindness and humility, or at least it's my hope for both of them.
I started to trek up to the Pope's Chamber, waddling like a penguin, when I suddenly felt light-headed. I would've fallen to the ground and possibly hurt myself, so I closed my eyes. Still, I didn't hit the ground, so I opened my eyes to see Death Mask holding me in his arms while Aphrodite had a disapproving look on his face.
"Honestly, Ladybug (Aphrodite's nickname for me), I hope your daughter isn't as reckless as you are." Aphrodite scolded me.
Death Mask and I stared at Aphrodite in awe because I never told anyone what the sex of the child was except my mother. Aphrodite shrugged and, still in a scolding tone,
"The flowers told me about the baby girl, which is why you were only hit with a low dose of poison, nor do you have to worry about Death Mask and me betraying the little one."
I blinked as Aphrodite handed me my old mask of power. I snorted in an unladylike manner, but I put the dreaded thing on as Death Mask chuckled as he followed Aphrodite on the long trek up to the Pope's Chamber. I took the dreaded mask off the minute we reached the entrance of The Pope's Chamber. I growled at the damned thing and threw it away from me as it clattered on the ground loudly.
" I hope Kamala junior isn't anything like her parents or Athena help the Saint Master, who has to train her." Death Mask chuckled as he knew I hated wearing the mask of the Amazons.
I gave Death Mask and Aphrodite an evil grin as I countered with,
"I hope it's one of my two favorite misfits who get stuck with my daughter as her Saint Masters, who needs a lesson in kindness and humility."
My smile broadened at their ashen expressions as the guards came out to see who it was. The guards bowed before me and led me to The Pope's Office. The guards let me in as I prayed that Dark Saga doesn't ruin our happy reunion.
I'm led into the office. As I removed my hooded cloak, I heard Gemini Saga/Pope Ares sputter as I faced him with a smile. I stood there smiling for a moment for my pregnancy to sink as I heard him mutter repeatedly,
"I'm going to be a father!"
Gemini Saga hugged me tight as he finally gained his wits about himself and placed his cheek on my swollen belly, which I felt my daughter kick. I saw Saga's face light up like a firework display. It warmed my heart to see Saga genuinely happy.
Sighs.
I know the guilt of the murder of my father is wrecking his psyche, but I hope this bit of good news puts his mind at ease. Saga kissed me wantonly then I sensed a change about him.
Damn.
I ran for the door as fast as possible, but "Dark" Saga appeared, and he was angry at me. I saw his left hand glowing as he growled in my ear,
"I will not allow the prophecy of your foremother come to pass. I will destroy everything sacred belonging to you and "Light" Saga. Now, die with your unborn whelp."
I closed my eyes, waiting for death to come, when I heard,
"Run, Kamala, while I'm in control of myself once again, tell our daughter I'm sorry for everything that will come to pass."
I ran to the door and fled my childhood home quickly. I returned to Denpasar City, Bali, Indonesia, where I've been hiding under the pseudonym Asano Yuki.
I called my mother to let her know what had happened between Saga and me. Of course, my mother scolded me, and I didn't ask if The Old Tiger was still upset with me.
A few days later, my mother and grandparents showed up at my apartment with them as The Old Tiger. I avoided my godfather for a few days until my grandmother decided to lock us both in a closet and wouldn't let us out until we talked things out.
Two hours later, after much yelling and screaming, did it get quiet enough? My grandpa opened the closet door to find me fast asleep with my head on my godfather's right shoulder.
A few days later, my grandparents and godfather left to return to their respective posts,
6:45 PM~November 9, 1972
My water broke, and my mother rushed me to Bali Royal Hospital in Denpasar City, Bali, Indonesia, and to top it all off, my daughter was twenty-six days early. Oh, poor Milo is stuck with my daughter? I'm laughing my ass off.
7:30 PM
My daughter was born and looked like our foremother, Belladonna, with blond hair and gold eyes. My little lioness, may you be fierce and loyal to Athena. My daughter had been born blind, with jaundice, and a bit underweight, which somehow I knew wouldn't hinder my little one—my Bella Rose Fiore.
Sighs.
My daughter had been placed under a unique lamp that emitted light in the blue-green spectrum or phototherapy for a few days, and jaundice disappeared. I was relieved, but my baby girl wasn't allowed to come home yet. My mother and I wouldn't leave her for one second. My baby girl needs to put on weight. She weighed three pounds and two ounces.
Hm.
December 9, 1972
A month later, my daughter and I were released from the hospital. Then I felt faint, so I held my daughter tight as we were teleported to The Old Tiger's residences. I landed hard on the floor while my daughter was safely in a playpen that once belonged to me. I gave Mū a dirty look, knowing he had teleported my daughter and me to China.
I could hear the booming laughter of my grandfather as Mū and Aiolos came to help me stand up and help me to a chair while I was still giving Mū a dirty look, who hugged me tightly, saying,
"It wasn't my idea, Oneesan, to bring you and my niece here so abruptly."
I hugged Mū, and then I kissed Aiolos as well as I whispered to them,
"I knew it wasn't your doing, little brother, but The Old Tiger over there with the crazy Old Puppis."
We watched as two old cootes walked over to the playpen, ignoring my mother's warning not to disturb my daughter. We watched my godfather reach down to kiss my sleeping daughter.
I laughed because my godfather stood up with my daughter yanking his hair in his arms. I saw Papa Elias and Mama Suna try to help my godfather, but my daughter's sightless death glare and scornful look spoke volumes, which made my grandparents back off quickly, making my mother laugh with glee.
"I told you, foolish elders, to leave the little one alone, but I have a feeling the little one is upset with Dohko for being both verbally and physically abusive toward her mother." my mother said.
I just nodded in reply as I watched my daughter continue to scold my godfather in baby talk. I finally realized my daughter was upset because of the little fight my godfather and I had before my daughter was born and how I cried for days. So, it's the truth unborn babies can feel what their mothers are feeling even from the womb.
My eyes widened as I looked at my realization as I stood up and rescued my godfather by calling to my daughter,
" Bella Rose- only to be cut off by Mu.
"There is no way my beautiful niece will be named Bella over my dead body. My niece looks more like a Mila Rose, my sweet Twilight." Mu declared as he took my daughter in his arms. Mu was giving me evil looks.
I laughed at myself while looking at my godfather and astonished grandfather, who both laughed.
I looked over at Mu, smiling, and said,
"How protective Mila's uncle has become of her."
I saw the dark blush on Mu's youthful cheeks as I smiled. Now you know how my daughter got her name. I looked over at my godfather, who only smiled at me.
I wanted Mila to be baptized, so I asked Mu and Aiolos. On December 25, 1972, my daughter was baptized in her birthplace, surrounded by her loved ones.
As was agreed, my mother and I would return to Sanctuary with Aiolos while my godfather would raise Mila. My last thoughts as I left my daughter,
"I'm sorry, Mila, but Mommy needs to settle things with your father."
Epilogue
On September 3, 1973, ~ Lady Athena returned to Earth as an infant. Saga had tried to kill the infant goddess, but Sagittarius Aiolos foiled his plans and saved Lady Athena, running away. At the same time, Mother and I had disguised ourselves as guards blocking his way. Mother fell first, smiling.
Gemini Saga and I battled as my last thought was to my daughter,
*Lee-Lee, forgive me for not being here to watch you grow up. Forgive me!*
I was slowly dying in my lover's arms as I smiled at him one last time.
