Slightly M-rated at the end. Nothing terrible.

Chapter 7

The house was wonderful and the girls were loving all the space, indoor plumbing and plenty of food. Christine was enjoying having her family safe and was happy to cook for them. But Mike was struggling.

Every time Christine shrunk back or the girls got excited because they had a book or could go to the bathroom without worrying about sewage, it reminded Mike that he had downplayed a briefing two years before. Their first night at the new house, Mike was sitting on his bed, looking at a wedding picture of him and Christine when she came to the door.

"I saw your light. Can I come in?" Christine asked. Mike patted the bed and Christine sit down next to him. She smiled at the photo in his hand. "That was a few years ago. We were so young." Christine said.

"Yeah." Mike answered.

"Mike; this is not good for you. You did your best. I don't blame you and the only thing I ask is that you stop blaming yourself." Christine said.

"I remember when I saw you walking down the aisle towards me, how lucky I was." Mike remarked.

"I remember thinking the same thing, but I also wondered why I didn't eat before I put that dress on. Remember me demanding that you find something to eat before we headed back to your apartment?" Christine asked.

"Yes." Mike answered. Christine took the picture out of his hand and took both of his hands in her own.

"Mike; please. I love you. I know we were in a bad place before but we need you." Christine said. She reached over and gave Mike a kiss on the lips. He was a bit shocked but he didn't mind.

"I love you too." Mike answered.

"I know Tom decorated that beautiful room with me in mind but I think I would rather sleep in here with you." Christine said. She gave him another kiss before settling on the side he wasn't sitting on.

"Are you sure?" Mike asked.

"I am. We have to start somewhere, right?" Christine remarked.

"I suppose so, but please let me know if you start getting scared." Mike said. He put the picture on his dresser and settled next to her.

"I missed this." Christine admitted. Mike hesitated for a moment but Christine didn't. She put her head on his chest, much like she used to.

"Me too." Mike answered. He kissed the top of her head. He was a bit surprised by how quickly her breathing evened out and how quickly he got tired and fell asleep.

It was the first time in years he slept through the night. He felt Christine get up once to go to the bathroom but she settled back next to him. When they both finally woke, the sunlight was streaming through the windows and Christine leaned up and gave him another kiss.

"You slept good." She remarked.

"Yeah, best I have in years." Mike said as they got out of the bed.

"Can we do this again?" Christine asked. It made Mike smile. They were making the bed and Mike nodded.

"Absolutely, but if you'd rather sleep in that bedroom, I can make the move." Mike said.

"It is a very pretty room." Christine remarked. She had loved the soft gray paint, the beautiful comforter and the many pillows, along with the ocean view.

"Then that settles it. I have to go back to my apartment and pack some stuff up anyways." Mike said.

"Thank you again." Christine said. She gave him a kiss before Hannah burst in.

"I got to see the sunrise over the beach. It was so pretty!" Hannah told them.

"Good, I'm glad." Mike said. He gave Hannah a hug before she ran back out of the room. It was like a whole new world to her.

"Happy girl." Christine remarked. She started to leave the room since the bed was made. Mike stopped her and gave her another long kiss, trying to keep passion out of it. Just intimacy and memories…which made no sense because they had always had a very passionate relationship. As she walked out, he looked back at the wedding picture on his dresser; remembering their wedding night.

"This is not quite how I imagined this." Mike said. Christine had somehow shed her wedding dress as soon as they walked into his apartment and was eating her cheeseburger and fries in the underclothes that go under a wedding gown. He picked the dress up and put it on a hanger.

"I didn't eat before my mom pinned me into that thing and I was scared to eat at the reception. Not now." Christine said.

"This is interesting." Mike remarked.

"It won't take long, I promise. Then you can finish undressing me." Christine assured him. He snuck a kiss and a French Fry before taking his suit coat off.

"Wine?" Mike offered. Christine and he had never slept together. She was a virgin and he wasn't but he didn't want her to be nervous.

"That…might not be a bad idea." Christine admitted. He poured her a glass and waited patiently while she ate. As soon as she tossed everything in the garbage can and finished the wine, he gave her a long kiss. "Onions? I should brush my teeth." Christine started.

"Its fine." Mike answered. As they talked and kissed, buttons were unbuttoned and Mike was able to unzip Christine's under-dress, revealing a corset, thong, garters and stockings. "Wow." Mike said.

"So, a few friends helped me pick this out. Mom didn't think it was appropriate." Christine admitted quietly.

"You are amazing." Mike said. They kissed her for a few minutes more, now sitting on his bed. Shockingly, she reached back and unhooked her bra.

"Please, Mike?" Christine said. He gave her a smile before very gently pushing her back onto the bed.

"Stop me if you need me to." Mike said. She nodded at him before he went to work on her nipples.
