Shendu's POV
"Ah, I see," Kumori said as she sipped the tea I made for us. "So Chan destroyed your talismans on accident and now they are inside living animals?"
"Precisely" I growled.
"And where is Enya? I was hoping to see her"
"She's in Hawaii with the Chans, the power of shape-shifting was just located in the monkey worthy of carrying my power"
"And how fares her pregnancy? You gave up your power and magic to be with her and your children"
I smiled at this.
"The pregnancy is going as it should, Enya says we are to have a son, she suspects the other child is a girl"
"I hope she has a girl, our family is mostly male"
I chuckled and agreed with my oldest sibling on that remark.
Enya's POV
Hawaii
"Dang Enya that's your second smoothie" Jade noted as I finished my delicious strawberry smoothie.
"Can't help it kiddo, this is paradise and it's hot"
Jade blushed knowing I was right and while Jackie and Uncle weren't looking I gave the preteen some money to get her own smoothie. She rejoined me a few minutes later sipping a mango one. The two of us then returned to Jackie and Uncle.
Jackie was holding the locator spell via a banana.
"Uncle I am beginning to feel foolish, monkeys are not even indigenous to Hawaii"
"And if the monkey has the shapeshifter power how do we know if it's a monkey anymore?"
"She's got a good point Uncle" I added.
"Why do you three question Uncle?!" the chi wizard fussed. I shot Uncle a look and he returned an apologetic gaze before he walked over to Jackie. "To find the monkey in any shape or form you must feel the power within the peel"
He raised Jackie's hand holding the banana above them.
"But I don't feel any powerrr!"
The banana suddenly glowed green and it dragged Jackie away and we hurriedly hauled ass after him. We arrived at some sort of mansion and Jackie was standing before a man. The poor guy was confused.
"Status report?" Jade asked Jackie.
"I don't think he is a monkey" Jackie chuckled.
The man introduced himself to us and just as he finished the monkey in question hopped onto his owner's shoulder. He grabbed the banana and went to his owner's other shoulder.
"This is a monkey"
The ambassador then looked at his pet.
"Thank the nice man for the banana Haiku"
Haiku did so via a burp and I had hearts in my eyes.
"Does he like being held by other people?" I asked. Haiku was just so damn adorable!
"He tends to be shy but you're more than welcome to try" the ambassador offered. He then suggested I hold my arm out and immediately Haiku jumped onto it and climbed onto my left shoulder. The Noble Monkey squeaked happily and closed his eyes as I petted him.
Jackie explained that it was important that Haiku temporarily stay with us for his safety and the ambassador was confused.
"Bad people are after him sir" I added getting the attention of the ambassador. "Haiku will be safe with us, I promise"
Just as the ambassador was about to respond Uncle found us and his eyes went wide when he saw the banana peel.
"Aiyah! Who ate my locator spell!"
Haiku suddenly glowed blue and he went from monkey to pigeon. The frightened pigeon flew away and the chase was on to get him back. We followed the transformed Haiku until he landed on top of a roof with other pigeons exactly identical to him.
"How would we know which one is Haiku?"
"Duh," Jade replied and she held up a banana.
A few minutes later Jade tossed the banana towards the pigeons and the fruit was tied to a string. Immediately a single pigeon followed the banana and a flash of blue light later Haiku reverted to being a monkey just as Jackie grabbed him. However Haiku chose that moment to transform into a gorilla and I was doing my best not to laugh as Jackie was being poked at, and tossed in the air, like a toy.
"Enya"
I turned to the chi wizard.
"Since you're a shapeshifter maybe you could be able to communicate with the Noble Monkey"
I mentally slapped myself because I didn't think about it before when we were collecting Scruffy. So I cautiously approached Haiku and his gorilla form saw me coming. Haiku put Jackie down and the archaeologist breathed a sigh of relief. But just as I was about to test Uncle's theory a voice called out.
"Found you!"
We all looked up and our eyes went bug-eyed as the infamous Monkey King descended upon us via a parachute. Now I wasn't around when the Chans dealt with this prankster. The Monkey King landed on the roof before using his magic to become an Elvis impersonator.
Unamused Haiku began to walk away and transformed back to his usual self. He then made a break for it and while the annoying Monkey King was pretending to be Elvis, we tried to make our getaway. Instead of using the ladder I summoned my wings and took Jade into my arms. I flew to the ground and put Jade down before allowing my wings to disappear.
"Oh crap" Jade moaned when she realized neither Jackie nor Uncle was with us.
"The guys can deal with that sad excuse for a jokester kid, we need to get Haiku"
"Alright" Jade reluctantly agreed and I relied on my sense of smell to find Haiku. The two of us found Haiku in the middle of the street just as a truck was coming. But instead of running Haiku transformed into a bull. The semi missed Haiku and the bull snorted before stomping off.
Jade and I followed him to a beach where people were enjoying some guy playing the Ukulele. Haiku eventually stopped at some bushes and began to eat while Jade reassured the audience the bull was part of the show.
She and I then went bug-eyed when we saw Uncle and Jackie were tied up over a damn fire pit!
And the Monkey King was tossing around some flaming torches. While Jade eyed Haiku I noticed a red tablecloth. I elbowed the preteen and nodded at the tablecloth. She smirked as did I.
