Jade's Pov - I looked at Max on the verge of crying right there in front of her. The expression on her face showed both confusion and worry.
Is she even willing enough to hear what I need to tell her? Am I strong enough to tell her about why I truly left school?
"I-I'm sorry" Max managed to say. I looked deeply into her blue eyes and knew she wanted me to forgive her. "It's okay. We all have our moments when we need to hit something."
Max gave me a small smile and welcomed me into her room. Looking around in her room it was pretty much in disarray. Whose wouldn't be after losing your best friend that you knew since you were kids. I sit down on the edge of Max's bed and she sits right next to me.
"How long have you been doing this?" As I look at the scars on her arms. "I started doing it after her funeral, but the most recent ones are here," Max lifted up her shirt, revealing bandages and gauze covering fresh, bloody scars. "I'm sorry I wasn't here sooner."
"It's not your fault, Jade. I became really hard on myself after she was gone." Max tried to explain. "I was hard on myself as well, Max. You weren't the only one that had to make the decision. She wanted the two of us to do it together." The two of us smiled softly at one another, but behind mine was a secret and I wasn't sure if I should say anything. Max must have noticed and asked: "There's something you need to tell me, right?"
I looked over at her then back down at my hands that rested upon my lap. Max grabbed my hand and held it in her's to comfort me. "You can tell me anything. Chloe would want us to support one another." A few tears fell on to my hand as Max spoke. Deep breathe, Jade. Just tell Max the truth.
"After Chloe's funeral, I fell ill. I thought it was just a common cold or stomach bug, so I went to the clinic. A few tests later, the doctor comes in and tells me my results. M-Max, I-" Oh God, come on just say it. You need to tell her, Jade. She needs to know. "Let it out, Jade. I'm here for you." Max squeezed my hand gently for reassurance.
"Max, I'm pregnant."
Silence filled the room for about five minutes. Neither Max nor I said a word to each other or looked at one another. I would read Max's mind and see what she's thinking... but I rather have her tell me herself. Come on, Max... please say something to me, anything.
"How did... who..." Max was at a loss for words. "I don't know who the father is... all I know is that I'm having a baby." I kept my head turned away from Max, as I was too ashamed to even look in her general direction. I then felt a warm, gentle hand touch my cheek as my head slowly turned around to face Max. I started to blush a bit as Max looked at me with relaxing, soothing eyes. God, I never noticed how cute Max is when she looks at me like this. I wonder if Chloe felt the same way as me right now when Max looked at her.
"That's why you were gone for three weeks. You were ashamed of how I would react to the news." Damn, can Max read my thoughts? She was spot on. Max's hand gently rubbed my cheek as she prepared herself for her next question. "Do you plan on keeping it?" There it was. The one question I hadn't prepared myself for.
"I-I'm not sure. I need to know who the father is..."
"That's understandable. Whatever you choose to do, you'll have my full support." Max holds my hand tightly and gives me a reassuring smile, which helps me relax a bit. I looked at my phone to check the time, realizing it was after nine. "Damn. I should probably head to bed." I stood up from the bed, but Max kept hold of my hand. I looked down at my hand which led to me looking up at Max. Is... Is Max blushing? Oh God, she is! Am... Am I blushing? My face feels warm. I think I am blushing.
"I don't feel like being alone. Can you stay with me tonight?" Max asked, her face now red as a tomato. "Sure. I don't feel like being alone either." Really, Jade? Did you just say that to Max? Well... you made your bed and now it's time to rest in it... with Max.
I was never embarrassed to change in front of Max before. Why do I suddenly feel like I'll be laughed at when I take off my clothes? "You okay, Jade?" My thoughts were interrupted by Max's calming voice. "Uhh, y-yeah. I was just thinking to myself that's all." Real smooth, Jade. "You want me to close my eyes while you change?"
"No, no. You can look. I mean... if you want to, you don't have to look though! I-I need to shut up..." Good going, Jade. Now Max will find you weird and tell you to go sleep in your room. Why can't you just keep your damn mouth shut. I think I'm blushing, heavily blushing right now.
I then felt Max's arms wrap around my body from behind, as she gently held me close to her. "Here... I'll help you." Max slowly pulled up my shirt as I raised my arms up for her to take it off. I turned and faced Max, who was blushing heavily at my body, which had a slight tan from when I last saw Max. "Wowsers. You look so cute..."
"Am I still cute with the tiny baby bump?" I can't believe I just asked her that! "Yes... you are." Max replied, almost breathless as she looked down at my belly. Holy shit... is this really happening??? I hope Max can't tell how much I'm falling for her right now. "You can touch it if you want." Did you REALLY just say that?!? But Max went on ahead and touched my exposed belly. Her cold hands made me wince as she touched my warm belly. Max looked up from my baby bump and right into my shining silver eyes. I looked back into her ocean blue eyes as our faces came closer to one another. I could feel her panting and she could feel mine. As we came closer to one another, our lips met, and kissed as though Max and I have done it before.
Max's hands held my face as mine held her's. I gently rubbed my fingers through her silky auburn brown hair. As one of her hands found their way down from my face and under my bra to cup my breast. Max gently groped my sensitive breast as if she knew that's what I wanted.
I want this kiss to last forever, but I need to breathe. We pulled away from each other slowly and looked at one another with care. Max kept her hand inside my bra as I kept my fingers through her hair. The two of us could feel our breath on each other's lips. No words were spoken between us as we looked deeply into one another's eyes. It's as if we read each other's minds, because we both went back in for another kiss.
