Season 2 Episode 1: Pups Save The Space Alien! Upgrades And Changes!
January 19th, 2030
"Screwdriver?" Ben asked Wild. They were currently outside on the lookout grounds, making the last upgrades to the vehicles. Ryder had taken Rocky stargazing, so it was up to their newest team members to help upgrade the vehicles. Rocky and Ben had done most of the work already: they had given Alex's electric van massive pliers, Rubble's rig a new drill mode, Rocky's vehicle a salvage tugboat, a land mode for Skye's helicopter so she could drive when flying wasn't an option, Zuma's hovercraft could now become a submarine, Chase's van had a new spy mode and drone, and an ambulance mode for Marshall's fire truck.
In addition, over the course of the past two weeks since the Mighty Meteor incident, Ben, Rocky, and Wild had personally taken it upon themselves to finalize the gear upgrades for the pups. Marshall now had an X-ray scanner and bandages, Everest's pup pack had an ice cube launcher, Rocky had a welder, Chase had sticky paw feet that would let him climb surfaces as well as night vision goggles, Rubble had a jackhammer, Skye had even faster wings, and Zuma had a buoy launcher. They were still working on Tuck and Ella's packs, but this would suffice for now.
"This looks pawsitively purrfect, Ben!" Wild giggled as they put the finishing touches on Rocky's tugboat mode.
Ben grinned. "You sure know your way around mechanics, Wild." Ben remarked.
"That old garage was where my owner used to live! I'm not sure what happened to him, but he taught me everything I know. It's how I made my bike!" Wild answered.
"Well I'll be. You're quite full of surprises! Makes me happy. Rocky will be glad to have another smarty-pants on the team." Ben smirked.
"Oh, I'm not too smart. The real genius is my friend Shade! You should meet her sometime! She lives in Adventure City, I did a stunt show there and met her. She fixed up my bike!" Wild exclaimed.
All of a sudden, Ben received a call from Mayor Goodway. "Ben, the most bizarre thing has happened! You're not going to believe this!" Mayor Goodway cried out, before turning her phone camera to show Bettina floating in a bubble of some sort.
"I can believe this, actually. Two weeks ago we got superpowers and became a Ranger team. We live in a world where teams of colorful costumed people fight monsters. I can believe anything after those things." Ben chuckled softly.
"Can you help poor Bettina and find out what's going on?" Mayor Goodway asked.
"Course we can. We're the Rescue Force, and we're stronger, better, and bigger than ever before! No job is too big, no pup or cat is too small!" Ben declared.
Ben pulled the button on his pup pad out and summoned the rest of the group. "Paw Patrol, to the Lookout!" Ben ordered.
Wild smiled as he stretched his body out in a typical feline fashion. "We done, Benny boo? I think I wanna take a catnap." Wild chuckled as his eyes drooped.
Ben rubbed the kitten's head affectionately. "Of course you can take a nap, you've earned it." Ben told his friend. Wild wandered out of the garage and to his usual napping spot as Ben went up to the Lookout elevator.
The other nine pups trailed into the lobby, with Marshall bumping his head on the door wall before losing a blindfold and waddling into the elevator. "Made it! Who put a building right there, anyways?" Marshall yawned as he plopped down on the ground.
"Marshall, has anyone ever told you…" Tuck began.
"That you're the funniest and coolest pup ever?" Ella finished, giggling as she gave the Dalmatian a slurp.
The elevator then started to ascend, rising up and getting to the halfway point before the mechanical arms dressed everyone in their gear. Tuck and Ella high fived each other with their paws as the elevator resumed going up, reaching the Control Room as everyone stepped out and lined up in front of Ryder. "PAW Patrol, ready for… action, Ryder, sir!" Chase sleepily said, letting out a yawn.
Chase was wearing his brand new spy gear, which he hadn't seemed to notice. "Sorry for waking you all up, everyone." Ben apologized as he took his spot by Ryder.
"It's no problem! Ryder, Skye, and I were stargazing anyways!" Rocky replied, wagging his tail.
"Anyways, Rocky, Skye, and I were looking at the stars when something fell from the sky. It landed somewhere near Farmer Yumi's." Ryder began.
"What was it?" Zuma wondered.
"It looked like a spaceship!" Skye answered.
Everyone gasped at that idea. "Then Mayor Goodway called from Farmer Yumi's. While she was heading home from the hoedown club there, she discovered Bettina trapped in a floating bubble of some sort! The mayor called us so we could get to the bottom of this far out mystery." Ben added.
"A flying cow? Udderly preposterous!" Marshall joked.
Ben wheezed and burst into laughter at that cow pun. "Marshall, you little comedian, you!" Ben laughed.
"For this mission, we'll need… Chase! Your new spy gear and your police skills will help us track down the pilot of this unidentified flying object. Rocky, Ben, you two are the aces of fixing stuff up. I know that the two of you working together can surely fix whatever crashed at the farm!" Ryder continued.
"Super Spy Chase is on the case!" Chase roared out.
"Green means glow!" Rocky shouted enthusiastically.
"Tuck, Ella, you two can help Chase search for the pilot of the spaceship." Ryder told the twins.
"Sure thing, Ryder!" The twins chorused.
"All right! Paw Patrol is on a roll!" Ryder announced as he took the fire pole to the garage, Ben jumping down and following right behind. The pups took the slide to their vehicles. Ben revved his engine up and tore out of the garage with Ryder as Chase, Rocky, and the twins followed behind them to Farmer Yumi's.
"How does she stay up there?" Chase wondered as the group arrived at the farm, not seeing Mayor Goodway at all. They were transfixed by the sight of the bubbled bovine, floating in midair and chewing her hay, as if she was oblivious to the fact she was several feet off of the ground.
"I don't know, but I think that spaceship has something to do with it. You can use your zipline to break the bubble and catch her with your net." Ben suggested as he and Rocky went over to work on the damaged extraterrestrial vessel.
Chase barked out his zipline and shot it into the bubble, the rubber suction prong cleanly passing through the surface and attaching itself to Bettina. Chase and Ryder pulled hard, and broke the bubble, with Bettina landing on top of Chase. "Chase, you okay!?" Ryder cried out in worry.
"Now I know what a pancake feels like…" The German Shepherd grunted in irritation as the cow got up and walked away.
"He's fine, don't worry!" Tuck reassured the others as he checked Chase over.
"Yup, Chase is just a little bruised." Ella confirmed.
"Where did you two learn to medically assess Chase like that? Hell, I have enough difficulty finding regular bruises on you canines seventy five percent of the time. Plus, the thick skin and fur usually prevents bruises at all." Ben mused.
"Like we told you! We lived at the pound, and there were a lot of veterinarians there!" Tuck answered.
"Uh huh! When we were in our kennels together, we would watch the veterinarian guys and girls give check ups to the other dogs. Helped us get an eye for detail!" Ella continued.
"Well, I'll be. That's cool. Maybe Marshall and I can train you sometime." Ben commented.
"Let's get back on track. Ella, Tuck, Chase, you go search for the pilot of that spacecraft. Rocky, Ben, and I will work on repairing it." Ryder reminded the group, getting them to focus on the task at hand (or paw).
"YES SIR!" All three of them howled as they sniffed the air and began to follow a foreign scent that presumably belonged to the pilot.
The group found tracks that emanated the strange scent. It smelled like a combination of a gecko and a flower. "OHH MY!" They heard Mayor Goodway shriek, causing them to go run to her.
"The tracks are gone!" Tuck exclaimed as they went underneath the mayor's bubble.
"Yeah, they end right here!" Ella noted.
Currently, the town official and her chicken were floating in a bubble just like Bettina was. The pups had to look around for a bit before they glanced upwards and saw the mayor encased in the orb. "Miss Genevieve!" The twins gasped at the sight of the mayor floating above them.
"How did you get up there?" Chase inquired.
"Well. It's a crazy sounding story, but a little green space alien shot us with some sort of ray gun and lifted us up here!" Mayor Goodway explained.
At one point Chase would have thought this story was a load of horse manure. However, after gaining the temporary ability to run fast enough to create a tornado… Chase was ready to believe almost anything. Except the existence of merpups. There was no way that merpups were real.
Tuck and Ella's tails began to wag rapidly. "A real space alien!? Wicked!" Tuck squealed.
"Come on, Chase! Let's go find that extraterrestrial!" Ella yipped as she started to run off.
"Ahem? Still floating in an alien light bubble up here! Goodness, those two remind me so much of my niece and nephew." Genevieve sighed as she reminded the dynamic duo that she was still in need of saving.
"I got you, Mayor! RUFF! NET!" Chase woofed as his net came out of his pup pack and shot out, attaching itself to Mayor Goodway's back before he pulled the mayor down to solid ground.
"Thank you, Chase. You're such a dear. I'm fairly certain our outer space visitor went that way." Mayor Goodway gratefully said, pointing a finger in the direction that the alien creature had run off in.
The trio of dogs resumed their search for the space alien when Tuck and Ella started to growl excitedly. "Chase, look, look, look!" Ella squeaked.
"A round green head!" Tuck whispered.
Chase took a look at it with his night vision goggles and snorted. "That's not an alien, you two, that's just a melon!" Chase groaned. He then started to walk across the melon patch. "Melon, melon, melon, space alien, melon…" Chase spoke as he passed something that emanated that foreign smell.
"SPACE ALIEN!" Tuck and Ella yelled together, beginning to chase after the humanoid creature.
The police pup was caught in one of the ray blasts and got trapped in one of those glowing spheres that Bettina and the mayor had been stuck in. Tuck looked back and gulped as he saw Chase pounding his paws against the wall of his new prison to no avail. "Ella, keep chasing our alien, watch out for his blaster! I'm gonna go get Chase!" Tuck yelled to his sibling as he turned around and headed for a super sproingy stalk of corn.
Climbing up the cornstalk and feeling it bend back, Tuck calculated the angle and weight just right, allowing him to get launched directly into Chase's bubble. With the built up momentum from the cornstalk catapulting him through the air, he had enough force behind his fall to burst the bubble and send them both back to the ground. "I could have used my net or my zipline to get myself outta there, you know." Chase grumbled as he was pinned underneath Tuck.
The Golden Retriever got off of him and shook his head no. "The first few days after Ryder made us members of the Paw Patrol, I was confused and scared. Nobody other than my sister and Wild had cared about us before. I was having trouble transitioning to this. But then Ben came along and gave me some advice. Ben told me that the Paw Patrol was going to be me and Ella's new family, and that it would be easier if I started to think of them that way. What I just did was because of that. I wouldn't leave my twin sister behind, and now I'm not going to leave you behind either." Tuck solemnly said.
Chase's eyes widened as Tuck gave that short little speech about family. The blue colored member of the group had a grin spread across his face as he realized that Tuck was already catching onto what it meant to be a member of the Paw Patrol. "Great work, Tuck! Let's go and give your sister some backup!" Chase cheered as he and Tuck took off after Ella.
The girl had gotten herself trapped in one of the alien's bubbles, so Chase used his tennis ball launcher to free her, and his net to catch her safely. "That little rascal… he ran around and got me tired out after I dodged his first few shots. I think he went off that way." Ella panted.
Ben, Rocky, and Ryder came up to them in their vehicles, with Ben now in his Ranger suit. "How's the search for the craft pilot?" Ben questioned. Chase, Tuck, and Ella gave a rundown of what had happened to them after the groups split up. As they wrapped up their explanation of events, Ryder got a call on his pup pad. Picking it up, the six of them saw that Skye was in front of the control panel, looking awfully scared. Nearly as terrified as she did when there was an eagle around. Immediately, Ben grew concerned. "Skye, what's wrong!? Did you have a nightmare? Did someone get hurt?!" Ben asked worriedly.
"I-I'm fine… but w-we have a v-v-visitor…" Skye whimpered, the camera on her pup tag switching on to show that the alien Chase and the twins had encountered was standing at the Lookout's control panel.
"Has he hurt anyone?! Did he hurt you?!" Chase snarled protectively.
Skye shook her head no. "We're all fine, but he keeps fiddling with the panel! I'm afraid he might start disassembling it or get upset if he doesn't find what he's looking for!" Skye yelped nervously.
Ben instantly took off on his Dragon Cycle, speeding to the Lookout. Chase, Ryder, and the siblings followed close behind while Rocky went back to the farm to finalize the repairs on the spaceship. The eighteen year old didn't even bother with going up the elevator; as soon as he parked his motorcycle, he crouched down, bending his knees, and leapt up to the Lookout balcony with the Mighty Meteor power.
An animatic of the alien's spaceship flying to a ringed planet was being shown on the display monitor, as well as signals from a glowing rock drawing the spaceship to Earth. "The Lookout looks so much like a spaceship, he's trying to fly it home! Maybe the energy signature of the Mighty Meteor attracted him!" Ryder theorized.
Ella whimpered at the thought of him being unable to get home. "Aww, it's okay, weird green alien! Don't worry, you'll be going home soon enough!" Ella comforted the extraterrestrial.
"Meep meep beep?" The alien replied.
"Totally, dude! If there's anyone in Adventure Bay who can fix your wide, it's Wocky!" Zuma reassured.
Skye calmed down after the alien started crying, realizing that she had judged him a little bit too harshly. Another alien popped up on the Lookout screen. "Aww, I think that's his mom!" Skye cooed.
"And I bet he's really missing her." Rubble sniffled, saddened by the mother and her kid being apart from each other.
"Not for long!" Rocky's voice exclaimed as he popped up on the screen, flying the spaceship out to the Lookout balcony.
Admittedly, Ben was quite shocked. Rocky not only had managed to finish the repairs to the extraterrestrial vehicle all by himself, but he had also figured out how to fly the thing too! With the tractor beam on the ship, the mixed breed pulled the alien, the two humans, and the eight other pups aboard the star-traversing vessel. Taking it for a test flight, the team enjoyed every second of it while it lasted. But eventually, the alien put them back at the Lookout, bidding them farewell and thank you in the strange language he spoke before rocketing off back to his home planet. Ben was never going to forget this experience.
Tuck and Ella make their first appearance as main members of the team here! They'll play a pivotal role in several chapters of this season.
They're not the only characters that are getting the spotlight, keep an eye out for Marshall and Skye's chapters too! Coming soon to fanfiction websites near you!
