Season 2 Episode 25: MIGHTY PUPS BARK WITH DINOSAURS PART ONE!

April 10th, 2030

Before Rex had come by to meet them, Ben had given the rest of the group a talk. "Okay, everyone. You're going to need to be on your best behavior for the next few days. A new pup is going to be hanging out and spending time with you, and I want to make sure you understand things. He's sensitive, so try to be mindful of what you say around him. And he's a bit… well, fragile, so please don't roughhouse or play fight with him." Ben told the pups.

"Got it, Ben!" All of the pups promised.

Everest was staying with them for a few days as well since Jake was on a trip to Alaska for a snowboarding tournament. When the time came for Rex to meet Wild, Zuma, Chase, and Alex, they instantly took a liking to the Bernese. "Your wheels look awesome!" Wild exclaimed.

"Yeah, they look totally radical!" Zuma agreed.

"You smell nice." Alex commented.

"Rex, why don't you tell us about yourself?" Chase asked.

Rex hesitated for a moment, but a reassuring nuzzle from Ella encouraged him to speak up. "I live in Angel Grove with my owners Tommy and Kat. Tommy is a scientist and a paleontologist, he passed on his love of science to me. I really really love dinosaurs though!" Rex answered.

April 14th, 2030

Rex had been staying with the Paw Patrol for a few days now. In that time, Tommy had asked Ben to create a pupmobile and pup pack for Rex. Ben and Ryder had managed to make a puphouse that could turn into a buggy and into a robotic stegosaurus, complete with a ramp for Rex to walk up so he could enter the vehicle. His pup pack contained a claw that could grab things with varying amounts of force, as well as a set of pterodactyl jet wings. Ben had also taken the opportunity to upgrade Rex's wheels, making them able to retract and disengage on command. Rex was extremely happy when he was given the pupmobile and pup pack. Rocky taught him how to operate and pilot his buggy, and today Skye was giving their new friend lessons on how to fly. He accidentally turned upside down though and that screwed up his flight trajectory, causing him to crash into the dirt and land on his back, his two front paws stuck flailing in the air.

"Rex! REX!" Ella cried out as she ran to her friend, seeing his front paws kicking into the air frantically.

"Rex, did you break anything!? I'm so sorry, I should have told you not to try flying upside down!" Skye apologized.

"Dude, just retract your wheels and roll over!" Zuma suggested.

Tears started to form in Rex's eyes as he realized he couldn't keep his facade up anymore. "I… I can't!" Rex sobbed.

Realization dawned on Rocky's muzzle as Marshall ran over and checked Rex with his EMT scanner. "He's paralyzed…! And this isn't a recent injury! Tuck, Ella, I need you to help me get Rex back upright!" Marshall gasped before giving the twins instructions.

Rex sniffled as Tuck and Ella used their strength to roll him onto his stomach, allowing Rex to get on his feet and start moving again with his wheels. It was only a small comfort though, as Rex was still crying like crazy. "Oh no, Rex, did you get hurt?" Ella whimpered.

Marshall shook his head. "My scanner says he's uninjured…" Marshall worriedly said.

"I-I was j-j-just starting to b-b-become f-f-friends with you a-and now I-I've ruined it…" Rex sobbed.

"What's paralysis, Rocky?" Rubble whispered to the smartest pup on the team.

"It's when you can't use certain parts of your body." Rocky quietly answered.

They watched as Rex started to hyperventilate as he began to relive bad memories. "He's shaking as bad as Jake was after the ice bucket challenge! We gotta get him into the Lookout and calmed down!" Everest yelped.

They quickly got him inside the Lookout and placed a blanket on him. "Rex, you're okay, you're okay! There's nothing to be afraid of! Your friends are right here!" Chase shouted.

Seeing his new friend panic and go through pain like this was making him anxious and upset. "B-but you're not my friends anymore… you found out that I need these wheels to even move…!" Rex wailed.

"What!? What are you talking about?! We're still your friends!" Skye protested. "N-no you're not. Now you're going to bully me just like Tyson and those others back in Angel Grove…" Rex whimpered.

"That's crazy! We would never do that!" Tuck argued. "That's not what friends do. Friends stick by someone they care about no matter what!" Wild pointed out.

"...That's what it means to have friends?" Rex softly said.

"Yep! I can't believe you didn't know that! Because we're your friends!" Marshall pointed out.

"Rex, you helped me overcome my shyness. When I'm around you, I feel more confident, and I feel stronger. I'm happy to have you as my friend." Ella told him.

Rex sniffled as a smile spread across his muzzle. "T-thanks, everyone. Tyson and the other dogs back home called me a freak… I'm glad you don't think of me like that." Rex wept, now shedding tears of happiness.

The other Paw Patrol members cuddled him and gave him a hug. "You're awesome, Rex! Don't let anyone else make you think differently!" Everest reminded him.

Ryder and Ben came in looking excited. "Hey, everyone! Captain Turbot invited us to go and join him on an expedition in the jungle! Carlos and Tracker seem to have found some sort of fossil, and they think there might be more! Come on, let's go!" Ryder exclaimed.

Rex immediately perked up as he was offered the chance to participate in an archeological dig. "Sure! Let's do it!" Rex exclaimed.

"Oooh! A chance to see Tracker again!? I'm in!" Tuck yipped, getting extremely excited at seeing the potcake again for some reason. Ella giggled. "It's like you have a crush on him or something!" She teased her brother. Tuck immediately blushed redder than Ella had ever seen him, and knew she had to talk with him. "Can me and my brother talk for a minute before we go, Ryder? We'll be with you in just a minute." Ella promised.

Ryder nodded. "Come on, pups. Let's leave the twins to talk by themselves." Ryder told everyone.

When the ten year old twins were the only ones left in the Lookout lobby, Tuck and Ella looked at each other and smiled. "You have a crush on Rex, don't you?" Tuck asked his sister.

Ella smirked as she knew what to respond with. "Yeah? You have a crush on Tracker!" Ella countered.

"Do not!" Tuck exclaimed.

"DO TOO! You told me back at the pound all those years ago that you had a crush on that one male black poodle! Come on, don't deny your feelings for Tracker! I know he has feelings for you too!" Ella insisted.

"Tracker has a crush on me!?" Tuck gasped.

"Yeah, I know he does! Cuz when you were blowing raspberries on his tummy and giving him a belly rub, I saw his eyes light up like fireworks on the Fourth of July!" Ella snickered.

"HE WHAT!? I didn't-" Tuck sputtered.

Ella laughed as she nuzzled her brother. "I think Rex might think the same way about me." She whispered.

"Rex? Yeah, he really really likes you! I think he started to have feelings for you when he first met you during that rescue!" Tuck told her.

"Okay, we gotta tell them our feelings for 'em! Promise? I don't know when you'll see Tracker again, so you gotta take this chance!" Ella encouraged.

Tuck nodded his head in understanding. "I will! I will definitely tell him how I feel!" Tuck swore.

They came out of the Lookout garage and went inside the PAW Patroller. Wild stayed behind in case there were any rescues that needed to happen. The group rode in the PAW Patroller to the jungle. While they rode in the massive bus, Ella asked Rex questions about dinosaurs, and she sighed happily as she watched her crush talk so enthusiastically and avidly about the prehistoric beasts. "Hearing you talk about them is so cute… you're cute…" Ella sighed happily.

Rex blushed as she told him that she thought he was cute, and placed one of his front paws on her front paws. "I um… I think you're cute too, Ella." Rex admitted.

The two stared into each other's eyes, and then were interrupted by Ryder announcing that they had arrived. Tracker and Carlos waved at them. "¡Saludos! I'm so happy to see you, everyone!" Tracker shouted.

"So, how did you guys find out that there were dinosaur bones here?" Ben mused.

"Well, we had been hearing some strange noises in the jungle recently. And we were searching for a toy train that Tracker had lost around this area when we found a fossil. So we think there might be more!" Carlos explained.

As Rubble and the other pups dug, Tracker and Tuck talked. "So, um, Tracker. Would you want to hang out sometime? I miss you." Tuck blushed as he asked this.

"¡Claro! I would love to hang out with you, amigo!" Tracker chuckled. Rocky dug out something with his claw and paws, picking it up with his mouth before giving it to Tracker.

"MY CHOO CHOO! You found el tren! Muchas gracias, Rocky, for finding my beloved choo choo train toy!" Tracker squealed, giving Rocky some affectionate and grateful licks before taking his toy train to Tuck so they could play together.

Meanwhile, Rex was digging when he found something. It was a strange stone with cracks on it. It felt really warm and good to touch, it made his legs tingle. So he put it in his pup pack's storage compartment. Maybe it was a good luck charm…? Whatever it was, he was going to keep it.

"MY SHOVEL HIT SOMETHING!" Rubble exclaimed. "Oh wow, Rubble, these aren't dinosaur bones! They're eggs! Wow, this is amazing! We have to study these spectacular specimens! Let's pack them very carefully so they don't get damaged on the ride back!" Captain Turbot exclaimed.

Ben looked at the green egg hesitantly. Something about it made him uneasy… "Are we sure that this is a good idea? That egg doesn't look like a fossil…" Ben remarked.

"I don't like it either. It smells funny!" Everest commented.

"Pfft. You guys are scared of an egg? That's silly! All of the dinosaurs are extinct by now!" Chase scoffed.

The group loaded the eggs into a box, and took the PAW Patroller home. Tracker came with them, as he was going to hang out with Tuck. Ben could see that the potcake and the golden retriever had feelings for one another, and he was thrilled. He was going to give Tuck and Tracker an individual talk with them later. Back at the Lookout tower, Marshall used his scanner to examine the egg. Rex rolled up with his wheels and gasped. "That's unlike any dinosaur skeleton I've ever seen! We might have discovered a new species!" Rex excitedly said.

He and Marshall went back outside to the rest of the pups to discuss their discovery.

"Guys, I think we discovered a brand new species of dinosaur!" Rex squealed.

"Really!? I was thinking they might be pterodactyl eggs!" Tuck mused.

"Or a pup-odactyl! Squawk, squawk!" Skye teased as she flew overhead.

"Roar, roar! Like a tricera-pup!" Rubble giggled. "Or a scary raptor pup! RAWR!" Chase growled playfully.

"Or a tyrannosaurus rex pup!" Zuma snickered.

Rubble started to sleep, but he wouldn't be sleeping for long. Thirty minutes later, he was woken up by the sound of screeching. "Huh…?" Rubble groggily said as he opened his eyes. Gasping, he saw a pterodactyl flying overhead. Running into town, he soon saw a Utahraptor that was after him and Marshall!

"BEN! I DON'T WANNA BECOME DINO CHOW! I'M BEING CHASED BY A RAPTOR!" Marshall cried out in fear.

Skye and Rocky were currently fixing up Tracker's toy train when a shriek was heard, and they saw the pterodactyl devour an eagle! Taking cover inside Rocky's pup house, the cockapoo and mixed breed whimpered in fear as the prehistoric bird attacked their structure. "RYDER, HELP! A pterodactyl is attacking us and we're trapped in our puphouse!" Rocky yelped.

Ella and Rex were eating liver sausages at Mr. Porter's cafe when they felt the ground start shaking. Looking up from their food, they gaped as they saw a living T-Rex storming towards them! The massive dinosaur roared and began to chase them. Ducking into a back street, the monster chased after them, and Ella screamed as she saw that they were in a dead end alleyway. "We're trapped!" Ella shouted fearfully.

A surge of anger within Rex caused him to step in front of Ella.

"Leave her alone!" Rex barked. The T-rex lowered its head and roared in Rex's face, yet he wasn't intimidated.

Rex prepared to charge forward and show this dino what he could do. As he started to run forward, the stone that he had placed in his pup pack began to shine brightly, and his paws began to glow chartreuse. "LEAVE… HER… ALONE!" Rex snarled, leaping at the T-Rex.

As he jumped into the air, the anger triggered something in the strange stone. Ella realized it was a meteor shard! Rex morphed into a tyrannosaurus rex, clamping his now giant jaws down on the prehistoric lizard that dared to threaten his mate. At first, the Bernese was elated that his back legs could move again. That happiness quickly evaporated as Rex realized in horror what he had just done. He had become a dinosaur, and he had just taken a big bite out of another living creature. Tears flooded from his eyelids as memories shot through his head. Freak! FREAK! He heard Tyson and the other bullies insult him. And now, he knew they were right.

Letting out an anguished scream, Rex stormed into the streets. He had to find his owner Tommy. "REX!" Ella yelled.

AS THE PAW PATROL IS OVERWHELMED BY THEIR DINOSAUR ATTACKERS, BEN AND RYDER ARE FORCED TO ACTIVATE THE METEOR AND GIVE THE PUPS THEIR MIGHTY POWERS TO DEFEND THEMSELVES! CAN REX GET A GRIP ON HIS NEW ABILITIES AND COME TO ACCEPT HIMSELF FOR WHO HE IS? WHAT SORT OF SECRET IS DOCTOR TOMMY OLIVER HIDING?
