Season 4 Episode 6: SEA PATROL SAVES PUPLANTIS! The Pirate And His Pup!

June 19th, 2030

It had been five days since they had gone to the Arctic and saved the Turbots' boat. Rubble yawned as he laid in the sun and soaked up the rays of light. Ben had gotten back the previous night, and the pups had all stayed up late spending time with him. They were worn out now, and were napping to regain their strength for the next time they might need a rescue. Chase was the only one of the eight pups that wasn't taking a nap, as he was on lifeguard duty. As Ben laid in the sunlight next to Rubble, the construction pup popped a question to him. "Hey Ben, when do we get to go back to the regular Lookout?" The bulldog wondered.

"Not for another two months, actually. SPD is making renovations to the basement, they're actually making the Groundbridge that we have in the basement connected to some other area. They won't tell me what area the Groundbridge will connect to, but it has to be pretty significantly far if they're wanting to use the Groundbridge over other means of transportation. There's also a fancy new base that's been in construction in the slums of Adventure Bay for a while. Mayor Goodway has been tight lipped about it." Ben mused.

"When are we going to learn more about all this?" Rubble whined.

Ben sighed as he shrugged his shoulders. "Mayor Goodway said that some guy with the initials O.P would reveal the details to us 'when the time was right' or whatever that means. I have a feeling that we'll learn about it eventually." Ben answered. The young man then stood up and went over to go talk to Ryder. "Ryder, old buddy, old pal of mine, good to finally get to sit down and talk with you! How did you and the Sea Patrol fare in my week long absence? I trust you guys weren't coming apart at the seams without me?" Ben chuckled.

Ryder grinned and rubbed the back of his head in response. "No, but we did have a few dicey situations while you were in Adventure City. Nothing that we couldn't handle, though." Ryder replied.

Ben arched an eyebrow at this new information. "Really? Like what?" Ben inquired curiously. The smile on Ryder's face grew bigger as he began to recount the adventures he had been on with the pups while Ben was out of town. Ryder described how Everest and Tracker had been turned into Merpups by the mother merpup they had helped out a few months back in order to save Horatio and Francois, who had become stuck at the bottom of the ocean in their diving bell. Ben listened intensely as Ryder described Zuma and the others retrieving the diving bell and taking it back to shore, before the eight pups all became merpups for the rest of the evening and enjoyed some playtime with the mama merpup and her baby. "Did you get any pictures?!" Ben excitedly asked his best friend.

Ryder's smile faltered as he realized that he had forgotten to snap a single photo of the Paw Patrol's merpup forms. "...No, I didn't." Ryder admitted. Ben frowned and sighed in response. "BUT, that's not the ONLY adventure that we went on while you were gone! We ended up saving the docks of the beach, and we also went to the Arctic!" Ryder quickly added, which brought back Ben's smile.

"Go on, tell me more…" Ben insisted. Ryder then told his best friend about the jellyfish jam statue that Francois had sculpted, and how it had attracted the appetites of many sea creatures. They ate through the support post of the dock, and the team had to repair it. He also told Ben about their Arctic excursion, where they had to save the Flounder from a sheet of ice that had frozen it into place. Ben stroked his chin thoughtfully as Ryder finished giving him the rundown on what had happened during his absence. "Well, I'm not too envious of you to be honest. Sure, you got to see all eight of the pups become merpups underneath the magical mermoon, but you also had to deal with Francois's stupidity three times in the past week." Ben commented.

"Yeah… he's a good person, but he's a bit eccentric. But don't worry, you won't have to wait for another chance to see the merpups. Tonight, the merpup moon is rising again! Captain Turbot said it was a very rare occurrence to have two mermoons within a week of each other, this is the first recorded instance of it happening in hundreds of years!" Ryder replied, and reassured Ben about him missing the merpups.

The sun was setting and Chase was bidding the last few beachgoers goodbye as they packed up their things and headed home. "Bye! Have a safe walk home, everyone!" Chase barked at them through his megaphone. The German Shepherd then ran up to Ryder and Ben. "All right, Adventure Beach is officially closed for the evening! Is it merpup time yet?" Chase anxiously questioned.

Ryder gave Chase a scratch under his chin as the sun dipped below the horizon. "Almost! The mermoon will rise really soon, about in the next hour or so." Ryder revealed.

"That means the mer-pups are on their way, yes!" Skye yipped in delight.

"I hope they hurry! The sooner they turn us into mer-pups, the more we get to swim!" Rocky cheered.

Zuma shrank back and shivered a bit nervously. "Swim? Wocky, dude, I thought you didn't like getting wet. Plus, the magic only lasts for a little while, what if we turn back under the sea?" Zuma pointed out.

Rocky walked over and put a paw on Zuma as he hugged his mate. "Zoom, don't worry, we'll be fine. It won't end up like the first time we were merpups, I promise. Things are different now." Rocky promised his lover.

"Different how?" Zuma murmured.

"All of you are going to be wearing your Sea Patrol gear. That way, in case the merpup transformation wears off, you'll be able to switch your suits into scuba mode in an instant, and get back to the surface." Ben explained.

Zuma breathed a sigh of relief. "Phew, that makes me feel a lot safer. Thanks a lot, Da- I mean, Ben." Zuma responded.

"You're welcome, Zuma." Ryder answered.

"I knew we'd see you here Captain Turbot, you never miss a Mer-moon." Ben remarked as Captain Turbot came up and greeted the group.

"Right ho! Hi pups. I'm gonna get perfect pictures this time. More mer-pup, less thumb. Ha ha ha. Of course, the most immensely impressive image of all would be a picture of Puplantis." Captain Turbot remarked.

"Puplantis? What's that?" Marshall wondered.

"It's the mer-pups' magical castle. My ravenous reading about it revealed no person or pup has ever seen it before!" Captain Turbot explained.

"Wow, they live in a castle? Now I really can't wait to be a mer-pup!" Chase howled in delight. "Look at the moon! It's almost time!" Ryder mused as he saw the sun setting.

Ben peered at the ocean and saw a boat in the distance. "Hmm... I've never seen that boat before. It looks like it's heading in. I wonder if they wanna dock here." Ben commented as the ship sailed across the ocean.

"I'll stay behind this time. Ben, you go with the pups on the undersea excursion while I operate the lighthouse and guide that ship to shore. It'll be dark out soon." Ryder announced.

"What!?" All the pups gasped.

"It's only fair that I stay behind! Ben missed out on the last merpup adventure because he was in Adventure City." Ryder responded, giving his reasoning behind his decision.

"Okay, if you're sure…" Chase uneasily said.

"I'm sure, Chase. You're such a good pup. All of you are! Don't worry about me. Besides, Ben will be with you! He's been gone for a while, he'd love to spend this time with you." Ryder reassured the police canine.

Chase smiled as he heard Ryder's comforting words and nodded his head. Not long after that conversation, the group began to hear the merpups singing and calling out for them, which gave Captain Turbot an idea. "Hey! Why not I ferry us out in the Flounder to find our fish-tailed friends?" The sailor suggested.

"That's a brilliant plan, Horatio. Come on pups!" Ben chuckled, gesturing for the eight canines to follow him to the boat.

"LET'S GO!" Chase, Marshall, Skye, Rocky, Rubble, Zuma, Everest, and Tracker all cheered as they ran to the Flounder.

As the group sailed out to sea, little did they know the other ship that Ryder was trying to guide over to the lighthouse was watching them. On the sea vessel was a pup and a young nineteen year old owner. "Ahoy, Arrby! That camera strikes me fancy! I need it!" Sid Swashbuckle the pirate declared.

The stubby legged Dachshund ran down below deck, opened up the camera box, and saw they had enough already. "Uh, Captain Boss Mister Sid, sir, you already have at least four cameras! With plenty of film and photo space left! These will be fine, we don't need to add another camera to the collection!" The pup replied.

"Hm, all right… AHA! Now that's what I really need! Fetch me that life buoy!" Sid then ordered.

Arrby scurried around below deck some more. "Got a bunch of them too, Captain Boss Mister Sid Sir!" Arrby answered.

"Drat, really?! Well, I need something else then!" Sid grumbled, before breaking into song. "I'm Sid the Pirate! Bold and tough! Sailing the world and taking your stuff! Whatever you have, I need it more!" Sid chorused.

"He needs it more!" Arrby chimed in.

"I'm taking it from sea and shore! I'll TAKE YOUR STUFF! Like your rubber duck, and your toy truck! Big TVs, and all your treats! A fun guitar, an RC car! A bouncy ball? I WANT IT ALL, HAR HAR!" Sid continued the song.

"He wants it ALL!" Arrby added.

"I'm Sid the Pirate! Bold and tough! Sailing the world and taking all your stuff! Haha!" Sid finished his little performance. Putting the telescope back to his eye, he saw the strangest thing: canine-fish hybrids. "Pups!? With fish tails?!" Sid cried out in shock.

"Must be merpups! Can I see?" Arrby gasped.

Without any protest, Sid let his beloved first mate look into the telescope, and grinned as he saw Arrby's tail whip around in pure glee. "I bet they have merpup stuff that I need! Stuff that could fetch a pretty price on the market! We'd be set for life, we wouldn't have to steal anymore! We could open up our own diving school, or get a house, or whatever we wanted! Arrby, we HAVE to get that merpup stuff!" Sid exclaimed.

Meanwhile, back at the Flounder

"I hear that on the night of the mermoon, the merpups hold special merpup mermoon celebrations! It'd be a real treat if the merpups were coming to invite us to that!" Captain Turbot wistfully said.

Skye gazed at the yellow glowing sphere in the sky. Something about this evening made her want to sing, and it brought back memories of a song from when she was a little pup, when she had a family… " Magic mermoon, shining so bright! Make my wish come true tonight! " Skye sang out.

"How'd you come to croon that tune, Skye?" Captain Turbot inquired, curious to know where she learned that music from.

"She's known that song ever since she was a little pup. She had me and Ryder sing it to her as a lullaby when she had trouble falling asleep." Ben chuckled.

That song brought back memories. "That song is all I have left of my family…" Skye revealed, a hint of sadness becoming audible in her voice.

Everest and Tracker took in a shocked breath. "¿¡Qué!?" Tracker choked.

"All that you have left of your family!?" Everest exclaimed.

Skye nodded her head in response. "My biological dad was never around, he left before me and my sister were born. We were also strays… we lived in the pound, and Mom passed away when I was one and a half. Six months after mom died, I was taken away from my sister when Ace adopted me. I don't know what happened to her…" Skye explained.

A few tears streamed down her face as she recounted this experience, and the other seven pups plus Ben ran forward and cuddled her. Ben, Chase, Marshall, Rocky, Zuma, and Rubble had heard this story before, but not Tracker and Everest. "¡Eso es horrendo! I'm so sorry you had to go through that, Skye!" Tracker sniffled, starting to cry himself.

"If you ever need to talk to someone about it, I'm here." Everest offered her support.

"Us too!" Ben and the other five pups chimed in.

They all chuckled at this. "That reminds me of a legend I once heard from another sailor…" Captain Turbot began.

"Merpups ahoy!" Chase shouted out, interrupting the sailor.

The mother merpup and her child were waving at them from the surface. "Oh ho! Guess I'll have to tell that tale another time." Captain Turbot mused.

"Let's dive in, everybody!" Zuma yelled out.

Ben pressed a few buttons and a diving suit encased him. "Agreed!" Ben affirmed as he jumped into the water. Captain Turbot also donned some scuba gear, and the pups all leapt into the ocean. The mother merpup booped noses with each of the eight pups, and they each underwent the transformation, gaining the ability to breathe underwater and a fish tail instead of their two hind legs and wagging tails. Rocky laughed as he got all wet, a stark contrast to when he was a regular pup. "You like the water for once, Rocky?" Ben teased.

"Yup, water feels great now that I'm a merpup! There's no wet fur smell either!" Rocky exclaimed.

There was a giant pearl that the baby merpup threw to Zuma. "A giant pearl, how beautiful!" Skye gasped.

"And fun! Coming your way, Rocky!" Zuma laughed as he bounced the pearl with his tail.

Rocky bounced it off of his own fish tail. "Tracker, catch!" Rocky called out.

Tracker headbutted it, sending it hurtling towards Everest. "¡Everest, atrapa la perla!" Tracker shouted, and Everest caught it in her paws.

The merpup mother gestured for them to follow, and they dove beneath the ocean surface. Diving down into the ocean depths, the pups continued to toss the pearl around until Marshall missed his catch and the pearl fell to the ocean floor, in a patch of sea plant life. "I got it!" Rubble promised as he swam down into the kelp.

To his surprise, there was a pup in a diving suit! It quickly swam off. "Oh, sweet! Another pup! Maybe he wants to play?" Zuma mused.

They chased after the diving suit pup, and then he got one of his paws caught in between two stones. "Uh oh." The pup whispered.

Ben and Rocky swam closer to him so they could get a better look. The pup inside the diving suit appeared to be a Dachshund. "Looks like you're stuck! Need some help?" Rocky offered.

"Uh, oh! Um. Hi! I'm Arrby!" The pup nervously greeted them.

He was starting to panic and thrash around due to his paw being lodged between the rocks. Ben swam up to him and took the pup's head into his hands. "Pup, I need you to calm down. The more you panic, the more quickly you breathe, and that means you'll use up your oxygen reserves faster. Talk to me, tell me about yourself. Take your mind off of the situation while Rocky helps free you." Ben told the new pup, before asking him his name again.

"O-okay… Well, I'm Arrby…" Arrby replied, taking a shaky breath.

He was starting to slow down and thrash less, so that was good. "Arrby, that's a neat name. I've never heard any name like it. Do you have an owner, Arrby?" Ben calmly inquired, using a soothing tone of voice.

"I have a really nice owner, his name is Sid." Arrby answered. Ben then put his hands on the pearl that Arrby was holding, causing him to whimper. "Thanks, Mr. Nice Boy With All The Pups, but I need this." Arrby protested.

"I'll let you have it back after Rocky frees you. Then you can come with us to Puplantis." Ben promised.

Rocky got the pup's paw unstuck and then Arrby smiled. "Thanks a lot! Did you say PUPLANTIS!?" He gratefully said.

"I did! Come on!" Ben said, motioning for Arrby to follow him.

"Ahoy, Arrby, my first and best mate! Remember, we both need the pearl! It could sell for thousands of dollars!" Sid's voice came over Arrby's radio.

"I'll get it, Captain Sid, sir." Arrby swore before following Ben and the others.

They soon came upon the undersea kingdom, castles and buildings lighting up the ocean floor. It was a truly beautiful sight. The mother merpup guided them to a massive shell, which opened up to reveal several merpups that began singing in that wondrous language. "I love how merpups love to sing!" Skye sighed happily.

A merpup who had starfish in her ears and beautiful colored accents in her cream fur swam up to the group. "Welcome, land pup friends! My name is Coral, and we merpups are flip flappity happy to have visitors to our shell-ebration of the mermoon!" The cream canine greeted them.

"A merpup that can talk!?" Skye gasped.

The resemblance to Skye was remarkable. "Magic mermoon, shining so bright! Make my wish come true tonight! Take me where I long to be, to a dream land under the sea!" Coral sang out. This caused Skye and Ben to freeze in their tracks.

"Skye, that's…" Rubble started to whisper, but then Skye joined Coral in her singing with tears in her eyes.

"When I see your smiling face…" Skye musically said.

"I'll know I've found that perfect place!" Both of them completed the song together, and then they embraced each other.

"Y-you know that song!?" Skye murmured.

"My mama made it up. The only other person who knows that song is her and…" Coral's jaw dropped as she realized who she was looking at.

"MY SISTER!" Skye finished, and the two embraced each other, beginning to cry.

"I THOUGHT I WAS NEVER GOING TO SEE YOU AGAIN! What did they name you!?" Coral asked.

"They named me Skye! I'm a pilot pup. And you're a merpup! Wow!" Skye giggled.

The other pups were so happy for their sister. "I was named Coral… Who are they?" Coral asked Skye, gesturing to Ben and the other seven merpups.

"I'm Ben, I'm the owner of these pups. Proud puppy papa right here!" Ben chuckled, puffing his chest out in pride.

"Hi! I'm Chase, I'm Skye's mate!" Chase introduced himself.

"I'm Marshall!" The dalmatian laughed.

"My name is Rocky!" The mixed breed told her.

"I'm Rubble! Skye's little brother!" Rubble greeted her.

"Totally pawsome to meet you, Coral! Zuma here." Zuma chuckled.

"I'm Everest! Glad to meet another girl pup." The husky giggled.

"¡Hola! ¡Me llamo Tracker! It is so magical to meet you, Coral!" Tracker exclaimed.

The mother merpup barked as her baby swam off towards the castle. "Oh! Marina says that Violet needs to put her pearl in the slot." Coral translated.

"Put her pearl away?" Ben mused, curious as to what she meant.

Apparently, the mother merpup's name was Marina, and her child was Violet. Swimming into the castle, they saw a massive domed room with dozens of pearls lining the walls, and a clam on a central platform in the middle of the room. The shell opened up and spat out another pearl, surprising Ben. "The pearls aren't toys! They're what give us merpups our magic! They come from the ancient Shell of Puplantis!" Coral exclaimed.

Sid wasn't able to hear that, and Arrby wasn't listening: he only saw the shell make the pearl. "Shell of Puplantis? I've never needed anything as much as I've needed that! Arrby, get me that shell! It'll make enough magic pearls for us to retire young!" Sid shouted in glee.

"The shell? But it's too big for me to carry!" Arrby gasped.

"Aye aye, then I'll come down to help you, matey!" Sid promised.

"Really!? Cool!" Arrby cheered.

This caught Ben's attention. "What was that, Arrby?" Ben asked.

"Uh… really cool shell!" Arrby quickly amended.

Ben arched an eyebrow in suspicion, but decided not to press matters. A sudden transmission from Ryder caught Ben's attention. "Ben. The ship that I've been monitoring at the lighthouse just turned into a submarine and went under the surface! I'm getting a bad feeling. I'm going to the Sea Patroller to go after that ship!" Ryder revealed.

"I'll keep an eye out for it." Ben assured him.

Suddenly, they heard a loud hissing noise, and the shadow of a massive thing loomed over the dome. Looking upwards, the pups gasped as they saw a huge red creature with glassy eyes looming over them. "Is it a giant sea spider?!" Rubble whimpered.

"I've never seen anything like that, and I've been living in the seas for years!" Coral murmured worriedly.

Swimming over to the sea creature, they saw it was an octopus… though something felt off about it to Ben. "What a unique looking octopus." Captain Turbot commented.

"Hey Arrby, what do you think?" Rocky asked.

They then turned to see Arrby was gone, and it was at this moment that Ben saw the string attached to the octopus. Eyes following the string, he saw it was attached to a metal object. Instantly Ben realized that they were being deceived. "It's a balloon… which means that we were lured out here!" Ben yelled out.

"Look! A submarine!" Chase snarled, pointing at the submersible that was fleeing from Puplantis.

"That must be the ship that Ryder told me about. We have to go after it!" Ben declared.

Coral shuddered all of a sudden, and Marina and Violet began to bark urgently. "THE SHELL IS GONE!" Coral shrieked in fear.

"WHAT!?" All the pups shouted.

"That balloon octopus must have been meant to get us away from the shell! Whoever is in that submarine must have taken it!" Rocky realized.

"We're not fast enough to go after it with either merpup power or our sea patrol gear, we need our vehicles!" Everest exclaimed.

Ryder's voice suddenly came over their communications. "Everyone get to the surface! I'll meet you halfway! I'm already en route to your location, just swim upwards and get to the surface. I'll be able to locate you." Ryder announced.

Coral looked at Skye. "What's happening, sis?" Coral wondered.

Skye nuzzled her sister with a sad look on her face. "Coral, I have to go and help Ryder now. We're going to get the Shell of Puplantis back!" The cockapoo promised.

Coral nodded her head in understanding. "Coral. I know you're scared, but you're the only one of us that speaks merpup. I need you to coordinate an evacuation effort, get everyone out of Puplantis. Can you do that?" Ben asked.

"You can count on me, sir! I'll do a fintastic job, I promise!" Coral solemnly said, giving Ben a salute.

Ben chuckled in response, before Coral booped noses with each of the PAW Patrol and turned them back into regular pups. The group swam to the surface of the sea, where they saw the Sea Patroller in the distance. Swimming over to it, Ryder lowered the platform for them to get on the ship, and they quickly headed to the control room. Donning their scuba gear instead of waiting for the mechanical arms to dress them in their life guard uniforms, they went straight to the control room via the staircase. Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Zuma, Rocky, Skye, Everest, and Tracker all lined up in front of Ryder and Captain Turbot. "Sea Patrol ready for action, Captain Ryder, sir!" Zuma and Chase both declared.

"Thanks for getting here so fast, pups. As you know, the shell of Puplantis was taken. And now the mer-pups' home is falling apart. For this mission, we're going to need all paws on deck. Everest, Tracker, Rocky, Rubble. I need the four of you to help keep the castle stable and repair cracks and structural instability while myself, Ben, Zuma, Chase, and Marshall go after the submarine that stole the shell. Skye, you and Captain Turbot will communicate with the merpups and work with Coral to evacuate Puplantis." Ryder explained, giving a rundown of the situation.

"Chase is on this merpup case!" The German Shepherd howled.

"Rubble on the aqua double!" Rubble barked.

"I'm fired up for a deep, deep rescue!" Marshall yipped.

"Let's dive to the rescue!" Zuma yelled.

"Let's take to the seas!" Skye cheered.

"Warm or ice cold, I'm ready to roll!" Everest declared.

"¡En el océano!" Tracker cheered.

"Green means go get wet!" Rocky roared.

"The palace is looking pretty shaky…" Rubble worriedly said as they drove their vehicles to the palace of Puplantis.

"Don't worry, Rubble! With the four of us working together, I'm sure we can buy enough time for Ryder, Ben, and the others to get the shell back!" Everest reassured the bulldog.

Piloting his sub, Rocky spotted the wrecked ship that had nearly claimed Zuma's life. That mast… it looked perfect for a support beam. At least this old ship would get some use after a few hundred years. Propping the support beam against the castle, Rocky managed to stabilize the main structure while Everest, Tracker, and Rubble stabilized the other parts of Puplantis. Everest created some ice chunks, Tracker used his cables, and Rubble applied some cement. "It won't hold forever… Let's just hope that the others are fast enough. I hope Skye and her sister are having an easier time than us…" Rocky muttered.

"Come on, it's not safe in Puplantis right now!" Skye insisted to a merpup.

The aquatic canine tilted her head in confusion. "I got this, Skye." Coral promised her sister before she turned to the merpup.

"Yip yip yip, arf arf. Bark bark yip!" Coral urgently said, and the merpup's eyes widened.

Nodding her head, the merpup swam away. "What did you say to her?" Skye wondered.

"I said that Puplantis was collapsing, and to stay out of Puplantis for the next few hours." Coral replied.

Captain Turbot swam up to them looking worn out. "Am I glad that my family learns linguistics naturally. I've picked up on the merpup language enough to help coordinate the evacuation efforts- I just finished informing another merpup family of the situation. We must have evacuated hundreds of merpups by now. I think that's the last of them." Captain Turbot panted.

Coral gasped as she was hit with a sudden realization. "No, there's still one left! My friend Moby!" Coral cried out in horror, starting to swim as fast as she could towards a small merpup cottage on the outskirts of the city.

"Who's Moby?" Skye questioned.

"Moby is the merpup who saved me when I was drowning and turned me into a merpup. His parents were eaten by sharks… I'm the only one he has left. He doesn't like the music of Puplantis much, so he stayed home and didn't go to the shell-ebration of the mermoon." Coral explained.

Following her sibling there, Skye gasped as Coral dove in through the open window just before debris covered it. The cream colored cockapoo swam through a hallway and practically tore open the door to Moby's room. Propelling herself into Moby, she went a little too fast and it chased her to headbutt him. "Yipppppp! Yapp! (HEY! CORAL!)" The brown Portuguese Water Merpup protested.

"No time, Moby! We gotta get you outta here!" Coral yelled in merpup speak.

Grabbing him by the paw, she dragged him down the stairs and to the ground floor, where the front door was being held open. A rock started to fall in front of the entrance, but Skye and Captain Turbot caught it. "Nngh! Come… on… sis!" Skye grunted as she tried to hold the rock up and prevent it from trapping Coral and her friend inside the collapsing house.

"Coral, get out of there with your puppy pal or else the two of you are going to be squished flatter than a starfish!" Captain Turbot yelled as he helped Skye hold up the rock. Coral grabbed Moby and made a mad dash for the door, getting out just before Skye and Captain Turbot couldn't hold the rock up anymore.

Zuma was in his submarine while Ben, Ryder, Chase, and Marshall were in the Sub Patroller. "Ryder, something's showing up on my sonar! I think it's the submarine that stole the shell! It's moving way too fast for my submarine to keep up with!" Zuma yelped.

"What are you saying!?" Ben asked.

"I'm saying go on without me, dudes! The Sub Patroller is way faster than my sub, it'll be able to keep up with that pirate sub for sure! I'll head back to Puplantis and help the others with keeping the underwater city from collapsing!" Zuma yelled before turning his sub around and heading back to the underwater metropolis.

"All right, Zuma…" Ryder murmured before putting the Sub Patroller into turbo. Ben made an attempt to contact the submarine. "Pirate submarine! This is the Paw Patrol! Stop and return the Shell of Puplantis!" Ben yelled into the speaker.

"Arr, I need this shell! It'll give me enough pearls to retire in my teen years!" The pilot of the sub yelled back.

"IF YOU DON'T GIVE THAT SHELL BACK, MY MATE'S SISTER IS GOING TO DIE!" Chase snarled into the communication channel.

The pirate sub stopped in its tracks and began to turn around. "Pardon?" The sub pilot asked.

"The merpups need the pearls that the conch of Puplantis produces. Without it, they'll die!" Ben explained.

"Arrby, how could you take the shell that provides the life of Puplantis!?" The pilot scolded his pup.

Apparently this was Arrby's owner who was operating the sub. "I… I didn't know! I'm sorry, everyone…" Arrby apologized.

"SET COURSE FOR PUPLANTIS! We have to give this back! I may be a pirate, but I'm no monster! No amount of money is worth the demise of the merpups!" Arrby's owner yelled as the sub took off back in the direction of Puplantis.

As the sub rocketed through the ocean, it began to sink lower and lower to the ocean floor. "Arrby, we have to ditch some of this stuff! Toss the cameras, the televisions, the rubber ducks, all the toys! We need to free up as much weight as possible and we can't toss any of the pearls overboard! Puplantis will need every single one that this shell has produced!" Sid commanded. Tossing all of it over, the sub was able to go a bit farther, but the sub kept producing more and more pearls, dragging it down again. "We won't be able to make it to Puplantis in time!" Sid cried out.

"We'd need super strength and blazing speed to be able to get that submarine loaded with pearls and the Shell of Puplantis back to the underwater paradise in time!" Marshall murmured. Ryder gasped as something clicked in his head.

"Speed… that's it! Chase, it's time to go Mighty!" Ryder announced.

Chase's eyes widened as he realized what had to happen. Ben took his meteor shard out and placed it in Chase's pup tag, the pup feeling a rush of energy as he jumped out of the sub patroller and went into the sea. The mother merpup Marina was there, and she pressed her snout to Chase's, transforming him into a Merpup. Going faster than he had ever before, he pushed against the pirate submarine with all of his might, moving it across the ocean floor at great speed. The sub patroller tried to keep up with him as best as it could, but Chase was far quicker than their submersible. They could only pray that Chase was going to be fast enough to return the Shell of Puplantis in time…

Back in Puplantis, Skye was getting worried. Coral and Moby both looked like they were having trouble breathing- their breaths had become shallow and labored. "Yip yip… (I'm scared…)" Moby whimpered.

Coral placed a paw on the brown dog's shoulder. "I'm a little scared too." Coral admitted to Moby. Moby smiled weakly as his eyelids began to flutter. Coral chuckled as she looked at Skye. "I'm glad I got to see you one last time before my time was up." Coral sighed peacefully as her eyelids began to droop as well.

Skye gasped and shook her head as tears welled up in her eyes. "Come on, sis! Fight! Don't give in yet, I just got you back! I don't wanna lose you again!" Skye begged.

"Don't give up hope, you two! The PAW Patrol will bring that magic shell back and restore Puplantis to its proper state!" Captain Turbot reassured them.

"It's okay…" Coral giggled softly before her eyes closed completely. She began to sink as her tail and paws stopped moving. Moby also became motionless. Skye caught Coral's still body in her paws and wailed in anguish. All across Puplantis, every merpup was in a similar state. The castle was about to come down, with Rubble, Everest, Rocky, Zuma, and Tracker all desperately trying to keep it stable.

All of a sudden, a blue and brown blur pushed a submarine right up to the entrance of the castle, with the shell floating out of the sub as well as all of the pearls that it had produced. They flew into their respective spots and returned to their rightful positions in the pearl room, a blinding light enveloping the undersea city of Puplantis. The buildings stabilized and became fixed,

The merpups all opened their eyes, feeling rejuvenated and refreshed by the light of Puplantis. Like they had just woken up from a peaceful sleep. Coral yawned as she blinked her eyes open. "Mm… morning. What happened while I was out?" Coral sleepily asked. Skye had no words: she simply broke into happy sobbing. "Thank god you're okay!" Skye exclaimed.

Coral realized what had happened. "The shell!" She cried out as she swam to the throne room.

Indeed, the pearls and the shell were back in place, with a man in a diving suit and Arrby looking very abashed. "Merpups, I am very sorry that I stole your magic shell. I didn't know you needed it to live…" The man sorrowfully said. A group of merpups chittered about something, before Violet swam up to the man and pressed a purple heart shaped stone into it. "Huh?" Sid asked.

Violet barked in response, and Coral translated. "She says you shouldn't have taken the pearls and the shell, but you came back when you realized that we needed the shell to survive! We merpups would be stiller than stone if you hadn't brought back the shell and continued to try and get away with it. They want to give you something to remember them by, to hopefully put you on the right path." Coral explained.

Sid and Arrby stared at the purple heart rock in shock. "N-no one's ever given us anything for free before… Truly, you merpups are kind hearted." Sid mumbled.

Chase let out a yawn as the Mighty powers reverted, and left him as a regular pup in Sea Patrol gear. "Pushing that submarine all that way was tiring!" Chase groaned.

"I think we could all use some sleep. Let's head back to the Flounder and the Sea Patroller, sail to the Lookout." Ben suggested.

"Aye… do you folk mind if Arrby and I stay with you tonight? …Today has given me a lot to think about. I don't want to ever steal again. Stealing only hurts others…" Sid solemnly spoke.

Ryder smiled as he shook hands with Sid. "Sure. Just promise not to ditch us?" Ryder chuckled.

"Promise." Sid replied.

Coral hugged Skye tight. "Do you have to go? Can't you stay with me?" Coral pleaded with her sister.

"The mermoon magic that makes me a merpup only lasts for a single night. And besides… my home is up on the surface, with Ryder, Ben, and the others. Just like how your home is here!" Skye responded.

Coral smiled and gave her sister a nuzzle. "Come and visit during the next Mermoon, then!" Coral yelled as Skye swam away.

As Captain Turbot guided the Flounder back to shore, the seasoned sailor began to make an audio log. "Captain's log. The date is June 19th, 2030, and the time is eleven fifty five in the evening, almost midnight. We've just gotten back to the surface after experiencing a fantastic adventure down below in the ocean. We got to see merpups, and their own home, the legendary Puplantis! It turns out that Skye has a long lost sister who lived under the sea and became a merpup permanently!" Captain Turbot started his recording off.

"...But it wasn't all fun and games. The magical Shell of Puplantis that produces the life-sustaining magical pearls of the kingdom was stolen by a pirate and his pup. Somehow, Ryder, Ben, Chase, and Marshall managed to convince him to return it, but by the time they got back to Puplantis it was almost too late. The merpups were unconscious and they were quickly fading. If Chase had been one minute later with returning the Shell of Puplantis to its rightful resting place… I'm afraid all would have been lost, and the merpups would have been no more." Captain Turbot grimly said.

Taking a deep breath and a drink of water, he then continued his recording. "I'm going to help Ryder and Ben build some vehicles that are more suited for the underwater environment. Vehicles based off of sea creatures that can blitz through the water unlike any of their previous vehicles! That way, the Paw Patrol can be one with the ocean's nature! And perhaps I'll even design a vehicle for Coral!" Captain Turbot chuckled. If Coral was anything like her sister, then she would likely end up on the Paw Patrol at some point.
