SONG: I will fight… I will fight for you…I always do, until my heart…is black and blue ~ Don't Give Up On Me by Andy Grammer

Chapter 10:

Scott:

The weekend went fast after Friday night. Isaac, Stiles, and I went out into the woods with Liam and ran through some exercises with him to help with control. It was grueling but we were reasonably sure that he wouldn't lose it in class. The field may be a different story, but we assured him we would all keep an eye out for him.

He was waiting for me when I pulled into the parking lot Monday morning. Shuffling from foot to foot as he waited.

"Hey, what's up?" I asked hopping off the bike.

"You remember when you said that if I wanted to tell my best friend about all this that it was okay?"

"Yeah. You want to?" I asked him.

He nodded.

"Yeah, I think I need to. I see how you have Isaac and Stiles to support you and help and I think I need that. I mean I know I can talk to you all but…"

"he's your best friend. I get it. When do you want to do it?"

"Now?" he asked shrugging. "I don't want to put it off. I'll just get more nervous and change my mind."

"Okay, let me just text Stiles. He can be helpful, sometimes. Get him and meet us in the chemistry lab."

He nodded and jogged off while I dialed Stiles.

"Yo." He answered.

"Hey, can you meet me, Liam and his friend in the Chemistry lab really quick?"

"Sure, but why?"

"We are bringing a new member into the pack." I sighed.

"Oh, really? Did we have a signup sheet, and I didn't know about it? And I still haven't received my membership card. What's up with that?"

"Just meet us please." I rolled my eyes.

"On the way."

I stopped at my locker to drop off my bag and caught the faint scent of blood. Was someone hurt? Shaking it off I made my way to the lab. I will check that out later. Unless it was one of us it could wait.

"Liam, what's going on? why are we in here?" a new voice said as I opened the door.

"In a minute, just waiting for a couple of people and I will explain."

Stiles came running up behind me nearly knocking into me.

"You're like a freaking brick wall of muscle, don't just stop in a doorway like that." Stiles commented shoving me in. I snorted but went with it closing the door after us.

"Mason, this is Scott and Stiles." Liam introduced.

"Yeah, they're on the team. I know them." He waved at us. "But what are they doing here? Unless you're trying to set me up with one of them. In that case I think I would go for Stiles. He's more my type."

"Aw, aren't you sweet. Thank you. Liam, I approve of your choice of friends."

Liam and I both snorted.

"This isn't a set up. We just have something to tell you, well Liam does but we are here for back up and moral support." I answered then nodded to Liam. He gave me a wide-eyed look but gained his resolve at my encouraging smile.

Closing his eyes, he turned back to his friend and opened them, showing the bright yellow.

"Holy mother of the gay gods." Mason gasped staring.

"The gay gods have a holy mother? I didn't learn that in church." Stiles muttered.

"How, what… your eyes…" Mason whispered reaching out then stopping.

"Mason." I called and switched my own to bright red. He gasped again and took a step back.

"What the hell is happening right now?" he asked. Both Liam and I switched back.

"It's okay, we won't hurt you." Liam reassured anxiously reaching for his friend. His heart rate was speeding up and I placed a hand on his shoulder to stop him.

"Remember your breathing, calm yourself before you touch him." I reminded him. He nodded and took a few deep breaths. His heart slowed back down but he was still tense. I pulled him back to me and looked at Stiles. He nodded.

"Its okay buddy, we got you." Stiles said stepping forward and pulling Mason over to a chair.

"I can't." Liam said looking up at me.

"It's okay, that's what we are here for."

"You just sit here. Now, how much do you know about the supernatural?" Stiles started and then explained it all to Mason, in summary. Starting with werewolves are real and ending with Liam being turned.

Mason to his credit didn't panic or deny. He listened and asked questions and processed it all. Liam was having a mini panic attack, but I was able to keep him calm enough to not wolf out. After it was all said and done Mason was quiet. He stared at the chalkboard as if it held the answers to all the questions in the universe.

"Mason." Liam called, taking a step closer. I put a hand on his shoulder again, but he nodded that he was okay.

"Yeah."

"You, okay?"

"I don't know."

"Do you have any questions?" I asked.

"About a million and one." He responded but never once looked away from the board.

"Are you… scared?" Liam asked shakily. That brought him out of his stare off.

"Of what? You?" he asked, and Liam nodded.

"of course not. You're my best friend. I've known you all my life. I could never be scared of you." He told him. Liam almost collapsed in relief.

"Okay." Liam sighed.

"But dude we are so having a conversation about all this later."

"Well, I'm still learning everything myself. Scott said he would be happy to explain things to you."

"Yeah, I will but not now. It could take a while and we have class soon. But this has to be kept secret. There are only a few of us that know. No one else can know about this. Its too dangerous." I explained.

"Yeah, sure. I won't tell anyone. But why are you even telling me? I mean I'm happy to know but, why?"

"Because you're his Stiles. Every wolf should have a Stiles." I said.

"Oh my God, you're going to make me fall in love with you, Scotty." Stiles said placing a hand over his heart. I smirked and shook my head at him.

Something shifted in the air. I don't know what, but I tensed, something was wrong. My senses heightened as I caught the scent of pure terror and a racing heart, a very familiar racing heart.

"Scott, what's wrong?" Stiles asked coming over to me.

"Something's wrong."

"What?" he asked just as a high-pitched scream sounded from the hall.

"Lydia." I whispered before bursting out of the room and down the hall, the guys following after me.

Lydia was standing in front her open locker, Allison behind her staring in horror. I saw blood staining the door and raced down to her. I didn't think about it, just grabbed her. She turned in to me, gripping my shirt. I looked at the locker and saw a bloody heart with a knife sticking out of it hanging with a note attached.

An offering, my love. you won't be breaking any more hearts soon, Lydia.

See you soon,

Your secret admirer.

I held her a little tighter to keep control.

"Stile's call your dad. That isn't animal." I told him. He stepped away and pulled out his phone. Lydia sobbed into my chest.

"I've got you." I told her.

"What does he want from me? Why won't he leave me alone?" she cried.

"Who?" I asked but she shook her head. I pulled her face away to look at her. "Lydia, who won't leave you alone?"

"Him. This s-s-stalker. He keeps leaving me notes, creepy ones. He won't leave me alone."

My eyes flashed angrily, and I needed to get her away from here.

"It's okay. I will handle this. He won't touch you. I promise. Allison, can you take her away from here?"

"Yeah, come on Lydia, lets get you out of here."

She was trembling and shaking her head, not letting me go, and it was going to break me or cause me to break someone else.

"Hey," I made her look at me. "I will handle this. If I have to kill him, he wont touch you. Okay?"

She nodded.

"Go with Allison. I'll find you."

"Promise?"

"I will always find you, promise."

She nodded and finally released me. Allison pulled her away. I gave Isaac a look and he went with them. Allison's a hunter but Isaacs a wolf. He will see and hear what she can't. I turned to Liam, Stiles, and Mason, all watching me.

"Dad's on his way with Parrish. They should be here soon."

I nodded slowly but I was more wolf than human right now. My vision switches back and forth and my control starts to wane.

"Whoa Scott, your eyes. Change back, change back." Stiles whispered, looking around the crowded hall. I shook my head to clear it and my vision cleared as well.

"What is going on out here?" the principal asked stomping towards us. He looked and saw the locker and his mouth dropped.

"I already called my dad. He's on his way. We will wait in the locker room." Stiles told him. The principal nodded.

We made our way to the locker room, and I couldn't hold back. I slammed my fist into the first locker I came to, practically obliterating it. I couldn't stop the loud growl that I let out.

"Whoa, guys stay back. Scott, you have to calm down, you can't wolf out here." Stiles said, keeping Liam and Mason behind him. The red tint fell over me again as I looked at them.

"He's stalking her. He's threatening her." I snarled.

"Yes, and we will deal with it. But not like this, not right now."

"I'm going to rip his spine out."

"Jesus." Mason muttered looking at me.

"Okay. Scott your going complete wolf right now. You have to calm down. You won't be able to help her like this. Think of Lydia, she needs you to be you right now, not a wolf." Stiles tried to reason and said the one name that was able to bring me even a semi resemblance of calm.

I moved past them and whipped off my shirt. Shedding my pants and shoes just outside of the showers before stepping in and turning on the cold water.

"Lydia, Lydia, Lydia." I repeated taking deep breaths. I let the water beat down on me, shivering as the icy drops hit me. My vision cleared and I returned to human gasping in deep breathes. My mind pulled up images of her, her smile, her laugh, her touch… the kiss. I shut off the water and collapsed to the floor.

Someone threw a towel at me, and I looked up to see Stile's standing there.

"You good now?" he asked.

"Yeah." I nodded.

"Good, my dad's here. Get dressed so we can talk to him." He said walking away.

I dried off and shed my socked underwear and socks before putting my jeans and shoes back on.

"Dad, we are gonna have to handle this delicately." I heard Stiles say, though he was whispering I could hear him clear as day.

"We will." The sheriff responded.

"No, I mean with Scott."

"Why?"

"He's not really able to deal with this as a human, he will go wolf if we are not careful."

"Wolf, but this is a human problem right, unless you know something I don't."
"No, I don't know anything. But Scott, is attached to Lydia." Stiles tried to explain, delicately.

"You mean because their friends?"

"No, I mean because he's in love with her." Stiles spat out.

"Wait but I thought-."

"Yeah." he sighed and I felt like crap.

"Oh, I'm sorry Stiles. I know how you feel about her."

"I don't think my feelings for her could match his right now."

I sighed as I made my way out of the shower. The sheriff was standing there giving his son a sympathetic look. I cleared my throat and grabbed my shirt off the bench it had landed on. they both looked at me. Stiles forced a smile.

"Hey Scott." He greeted.

"Sheriff."

"I just have a few questions. You weren't there when she opened the locker right?"

"No, Stiles and I were with Liam and Mason talking. But we all heard her scream and ran out."

"What were you guys talking about?"

"Uh, Liam is a new… friend." I told him. "And we were just informing Mason of a few things." He understood and gave them a wide-eyed glance.

"Ah, okay. So, what did you see when you came out?"

I went through all we saw and what happened when we reached Lydia. He went through the same questioning with the others as well. I looked over at Stiles. He had his hands shoved in his pockets not looking at anything or anyone in particular.

"Stiles-." I started. I needed to explain, apologize. Something. But he just shook his head at me.

"I'm going to go grab our stuff. I'll meet you outside. I doubt we are doing classes today." He walked out. I just sighed and ran a hand through my wet hair.

"Scott don't let this reaction get to you. He will be fine. He just needs time. That's all." Sheriff said.

"I didn't want to hurt him. Nothing has even happened between us." I told him.

"He knows all of that. Its just a hard blow. But he'll process and he will be okay. Just give him time. Alright?"

I nodded.

"Good, you guys get out of here. Head home and leave this to us."

"I… I don't know if I can do that."

"Try. Just give us time to try to handle this legally. If its human, then he gets justice. If its supernatural. Well, that's more your territory but try not to do something you can't take back."

"I'll try. Can I find Lydia now?"

"Yeah, go ahead. Get her somewhere safe and protect her."

"I will. Come one guys." I called Liam and Mason.

We hurried out of the locker room and back up to the main floor, heading right towards the recently vacated chemistry lab. I saw the police taking pictures of the locker and bagging evidence. I went right into the lab and saw Lydia with her mom, Allison and Isaac standing vigilant around her.

"Lydia." I sighed. Her head shot up and she moved past her mom right into my arms. "You're fine. I won't let him get you."

I looked around, Allison was looking concerned for Lydia, Isaac was looking concerned for Allison. Liam and Mason were not sure what to think or do and Ms. Martin was staring at us.

"Hi Ms. Martin."

"Scott." Her lips quirked but she was still worried about her daughter. "Why don't you get her out of here. I don't think she needs to be here right now. Lydia, sweetheart, you stay with Allison. I don't feel right with you being at home alone, right now and I have that conference I have to go to."

Lydia nodded and her mother kissed her forehead.

"Take care of her Scott." Ms. Martin said.

"I will. Come on Lydia, lets get you out of here." I kept her tucked into my side, everyone walked surrounding us. "Don't look." I said shielding her eyes as we passed the scene. We made it outside and Stiles was leaning against his jeep waiting. His eyes were pained as he watched Lydia cling to me, but he cleared his expression quickly.

"Where to?" he asked.

"My place, we'll stop by Lydia's and grab some stuff for her. Meet us out front of the building." Allison said.

"Liam, Mason. You don't have to be a part of this? We can take you home." I told them.

"No way, I'm with you guys." Liam answered.

"And I'm with Liam." Mason added.

"Okay, Ride with Stiles. Isaac, can you take my bike?"

"Sure." I threw him my keys and lead Lydia over to Allisons car. I didn't hesitate to climb into the back seat with Lydia. Lydia cried steadily into my neck.

"Hey, look at me." I cradled her head in my hands. "You're safe. I'll protect you."

"I can't… I can't shake this feeling." She sobbed.

"What feeling? Is someone going to get hurt? Die?"

"Yes. No. I don't know. Something's going to happen, but I don't know. I'm scared."

I pressed her head back down.

"I know." I whispered catching Allison's eye in the mirror. She looked just as scared.

We pulled in front of Lydia's house and got out. I went with Lydia to pack a bag and Allison called her dad to let him know what was going on and what was going to happen.

"Lydia, wait." I said catching a scent. I held her back and went into the room first."

"What is it?" she asked.

"someone's been in here."

"When? Who?"

"I don't know but its fresh. Stay right here." I said from the door frame. I went in and heard nothing, but the scent was focused mostly on her bed. There was a note in the middle of the cover with a rose on it. I didn't need to pick it up to read it.

Is this where you lay at night dreaming of Scott touching you? Or is it, Stiles? Or some other poor guy you're stringing along. It's okay. I'll forgive you, my love. Soon you will see me and only me.

Seen you soon,

Your secret admirer

My blood boiled. I looked around and found some Kleenex and a shopping bag. I used the tissue to pick up the note and rose and placed it in the bag. I would take it to Stile's dad. Maybe he could get something out of it.

"Lydia, pack a bag, quickly." I told her.

"Scott, what is it?"

"Another note."

"In here." She shrieked.

"Yes."

"What did it say?"

"Lydia, you don-."

"Scott, what did it say?"

I closed my eyes and told her. She whimpered and hugged herself.

"I'll take it to the police. Just pack what you need. Anything you forget we will come back for. I want to get you out of here as soon as possible."

She nodded and rushed around her room in a whirlwind grabbing stuff and shoving it into a leather duffle. I looked around for anything else that might be out of place but found nothing. She finally stopped and zipped up the bag.

"You got everything?"

She nodded.

"Okay, let's go." I grabbed her bag and her hand and pulled her down the stairs. Allison was just hanging up the phone when she noticed how much paler Lydia had gotten.

"What's wrong?" she asked.

"Another note. Let's go. I'll go to the police once we get to your place."

"Okay."
