Ch 40 A New Arrival
(Insert Battle! Hoenn Elite Four: Glacia - Pokémon Masters EX)
"Now, Froslass use Blizzard once more!" A blonde woman in a violet dress orders her Partner on the blizzardy Battlefield.
A white humanoid Pokemon with two arm-like appendages hanging from her head. "Fros…lass!" Froslass held her hands, creating a strong Blizzard towards Steven's Metagross.
Steven held out his hand to his Partner, feeling the cold breeze of the Ice Land Pokemon's attack. "Metagross, use Psychic to hold back the Blizzard." The young trainer ordered.
Metagross's X glowed a bluish hue and a small barrier blocked the rushing Blizzard. "Meta!" The Iron Leg growls, planting his legs into the Battlefield.
Steven watched as his Partner, held out through the Ice-type Move. "Hang in there Metagross." He knows that Ice-type Moves aren't that effective on Metagross, but the winds were strong to lift a boulder from the ground.
"Meta!" Metagross held out, seeing Froslass before him. "Meta!" the Iron Leg Pokemon called out to his Partner, finding an opening.
The Steel-blue haired trainer heard his Partner calling out to him. His eyes drew over to where Metagross is looking, "Ah, I see it now," He said to himself,
Glacia smiled seeing her opponent see through her Froslass's Blizzard.
Back in the audience, everyone was cheering for Metagross to push forward against the Blizzard.
Flannery and Brawly cheered loudly for Steven and Metagross. "Come on Metagross! You can do it!" The red-haired girl cheered for the Iron Leg Pokemon.
"Go, go, Metagross! Come on Steven, show her who's the best!" Brawly continued cheering.
Kirlia joined in as well, finding this Battle to be exhilarating unlike the previous two.
Helena softly tightens her arms, so her Partner doesn't fall. "C-Careful, Kirlia. I know you're excited but I don't want you to fall." The black-haired girl stated,
"Kirlia has changed a lot since you met her," Jackie commented on the change in personality. "In the past, Kirlia wasn't really into Pokemon Battling nor involving herself with people. But now…" The blonde boy looks at Helena's Partner, watching her cheer.
"It wasn't easy, but I defiantly earned her trust." The black-haired trainer smiled as she looks down at her Pokemon.
Roxanne points to the Battlefield, seeing Steven find an opening against the Ice Land Pokemon's Blizzard. "Steven and Metagross had found an opening in the Blizzard!" She exclaims,
Everyone's attention went back to the Battlefield where Metagross's arms took a metallic hue before launching himself at the center of the Blizzard.
Metagross flew through the winds, then a huge explosion appeared when he bashed into Froslass.
"Yes!" Steven cheered, seeing his Partner has taken out one of Glacia's second powerful Pokemon.
Once the dust cleared, Froslass fell to the ground. Metagross landed in front of the Ice/Ghost-type Pokemon with spirals in her eyes.
Glacia smiles calmly, letting Blanche make the call. "Froslass is unable to Battle." The white-haired woman announced to the roaring crowds, "The victor goes to Metagross!"
The crowd cheered loudly for another great match for Steven.
"Great job, Metagross. We got one more Pokemon to go." The Steel-blue haired boy cheered,
Glacia chuckles, seeing the ecstatic expression on the Challenger's face. She held out her Froslass's Pokeball towards her, "Froslass, excellent work. Please get some rest." The pale blonde woman called back her Pokemon,
The Ice-type trainer smiled at the young Challenger before her. "Seems like I'm on my last Pokemon, Mr. Stone," Glacia commented, impressed that a trainer was able to push her to a corner.
"Well done," Glacia took out her last Pokeball, ready to send out her final and strongest Pokemon. "It's been a while since I was placed in a corner like this. But your winning streak ends here, Mr. Stone."
Steven gave a confident smirk at the pale blonde woman, "I don't think so, I'm here to win it." The Steel-blue haired boy stated,
Glacia chuckles before tossing her last Pokeball into the Battlefield, "Glalie, it's time for your turn!" The Pokeball released a giant white head with two protruding black horns from each side. On the center of his forehead was a headgear with a white stone with a blue and d black flame.
"A Glalie?" Helena raised her Rotom Phone towards the Ice-type Pokemon, never seeing one in person before.
-ZZZ- Glalie, the Face Pokemon. An Ice-type Pokemon. -ZZZ- The Rotom Phone showed an image that said Pokemon that was on the Battlefield.
-ZZZ- Glalie has the ability to freely control ice. For example, it can instantly freeze its prey solid. After immobilizing its prey in ice, this Pokémon enjoys eating it in a leisurely fashion. -ZZZ-
Jackie looks up after overhearing Helena's Rotom Phone's information on the Ice-type Pokemon. "Interesting, I've never seen a Glalie before. I only heard about it and live in Shoel Cave."
"Shoel Cave? Isn't that hard to reach until a certain time of day?" Helena asked, learning about the Cave in the Geology course in the Trainer School.
Roxanne nodded, confirming what Helena said. "That's right, low tide is where the Cave's entrance will show itself," The brunette explains how to enter Shoel Cave.
Back on the Battlefield, Steven took a deep breath before looking at his Partner. "This is the last Battle in the second-to-last match, Metagross," Steven stated, ready to finish this Battle.
"Meta!" Metagross agreed with his Partner, sharing the same enthusiasm as him.
Glacia chuckles, liking what she sees. "Alright, let's see what you got!" She exclaims,
Blanche lowered her arm, starting the match. "Battle begin!" The white-haired woman announced.
"Glalie, Light Screen please," Glacia ordered her Partner,
"Glalie!" The Face Pokemon's eyes glowed a pinkish hue as three barriers appeared before him.
'So she's setting up defense, okay.' Steven held out his hand to his Partner, "Metagross, let's test this out, use Meteor Mash!" He cried out,
Metagross dashed forward, his arm took on a metallic hue. "Meta!" He propels his arm forward,
Three barriers appeared just before the Iron Leg Pokemon's attack landed. The Meteor Mash passes through the barriers; however, the damage was cut in half.
Glalie flinched, taking half the damage from the Steel-type move. "G-Glalie…" The Ice-type Pokemon shook his body, recovering from the attack.
"Are you okay, Glalie?" Glacia asked her Partner calmly.
"Glalie!" The pure Ice-type Pokemon responded to his Partner's voice.
The pale blonde woman smiles softly at her Pokemon, "Alright, use Ice Shard." Glacia ordered her Glalie, having faith that he knows what to do.
The Face Pokemon immediately went into action. He floats to the air and opened his mouth, "Gla…lie!" A blue orb appeared before Glalie's mouth and morphs into a spear.
The spear was released, hurling towards the Duel-type Pokemon before him.
"Metagross! Use Psychic on the rocks as a shield!" Steven cried,
"Meta!" Metagross's X glowed a bluish hue, lifted the rocks behind him, and blocked the Ice Shard.
Steven smiles, seeing his plan worked. "Follow up with Zen Headbutt!" He quickly ordered his Partner,
Metagross proceeded with what his Partner said, a barrier appeared before Metagross's head. He launched himself to Glalie with great speed.
"Iron Head, please." Glacia calmly said, watching the incoming Duel-type Pokemon.
"Glalie!" Glalie's head turned into a metallic color and rushed at Metagross.
Both attacks landed, causing a small explosion. The two leap back to their respective Partners after taking on two powerful attacks.
Glacia held out her hand, noticing her Partner recovering after the previous attack. "Your Metagross is sturdy, you've trained and raised him well." The Elite Four member commented, impressed by how strong Steven's Partner was.
Steven smiles, appreciating the Ice-type trainer's input on his and his Partner's strength. "Thank you, and I can you trained Glalie well," He returns to the compliment given to him.
The pale blonde woman smiles softly at the respect given by the Challenger. A trait worthy of being a Champion.
"Then let's continue, Glalie, Dark Pulse." The Ice-type Elite Four went back into the Battle.
"Glalie!" The Face Pokemon spun around as his eyes had a dark hue. A dark beam with circles rushed towards Metagross.
Steven held out his hand, quickly coming up with a counter. "Metagross, Flash Cannon!" He ordered his Partner.
"Meta!" The X on the Duel-type's head glowed a metallic hue. A metallic beam hurls towards the Dark Pulse.
Like the previous attacks, they made contact and exploded.
Back in the audience, everyone could tell both Pokemon moves were equal in strength and that it was a standstill. This was clear to the trainers who participate in the previous matches,
"Even if Metagross has the Type advantage, Glalie is clearly trained well," Jackie commented, watching the match on the Battlefield.
"I agree with you bro, that Glalie Glacia has is something else," Brawly added to the blonde boy's comment.
Roxanne held her chin, observing Steven's actions. "Seems like this match is going to be tricky for Steven." She commented on the struggle her friend and his Partner are going through.
Flannery scoffs, leaning back in her chair. "Since when does a difficult challenge ever cause Steven trouble?" The red-haired girl asked her group of friends, already knowing the answer.
"Do you really need to ask that question, Flans?" Helena looks over to her friend, "Steven will have an excited expression whenever there's a challenging Battle, just as the one he has now." She points to the monitor showing the ecstatic expression on Steven's face.
They all laughed, seeing what they expected of Steven was true.
Both Metagross and Glalie exchanged powerful attacks, however, they were either countered or dodged.
Glacia smiles never experienced a standstill like this before. "Well, both of our Pokemon are strong that it'll lead to a standstill." The pale blonde-haired woman stated,
"I didn't want to use this, but your spirit has earned you the right to witness my full strength." Glacia reached for her choker, where a Key Stone was present.
Steven let out a small chuckle, seeing the glimmer from the sun hitting the Stone. He reached for his Mega Stock, ready to do the same with his Partner.
"Glalie, it's time to bring our bond to light!" Glacia gently placed her fingertips on her Key Stone.
Glalie floated before his Partner, ready for what was coming. "Glalie!" He responded,
Glacia's Key Stone responded to the Ice-type Pokemon's cries. It shined a rainbow light, and in response to the reaction Glalie's Mega Stone shined in the same light.
The Face Pokemon's body was engulfed by the light, he grew a bit larger, and his lower jaw unhinged. A horn grew at the center of his forehead and his body temperature grew colder.
The light subsided, revealing Glalie's Mega Evolved form. "Glalie!" Glalie cried out as the audience cheered for another Mega Evolution Battle.
"So that's what a Mega Glalie looks like," Steven commented, getting excited to Battle him. He chuckles, raising his Mega Stock to his lips. "If you're bringing out the big guns, then I have to return in response." He nods at Metagross who understands what they're doing.
"Sparkling Stone, give our Bond form!" Steven placed his Key Stone on his lips as a bright light shined from it.
The Metagrossite around Metagross's leg began to react to Steven's call. "Meta!" Metagross cried as light from each Stone engulfed him. The light subsided, revealing Metagross Mega Evolved form.
"Meta!" The Iron Leg Pokemon cried out, ready to continue the Battle.
Glacia saw this Shiny Metagross from her tower, being to meet in person is something else. "My, seeing your Partner's lustrous metal coating, is a beauty to behold." The pale blonde trainer commented, "However, beauty is not everything. Let's see if your Pokemon can handle my Glalie,"
The Battle continued, and Glacia made her first move. "Glalie, use Ice Shard! Triple threat!" She ordered,
"Glalie!" The Mega Evolved Pokemon open his large jaw, and three light blue orbs appeared within. The three orbs took shape into shards before releasing them at Metagross.
Steven swipes his hand to the side, seeing the hurling Ice Shards. "Metagross, use Psychic to catch those Ice Shards!" He ordered his Partner,
Metagross followed what Steven's said, his X once again glowed a bluish hue.
The Ice Shards froze in mid-air, around them was a blueish hue. "Meta!" The Shards turns around, now pointing back at Glalie.
"Send it back, Metagross!" Steven cried out as his Partner sent the Ice Shards back to Glalie.
"Glalie, Iron Head to defend against your Ice Shard!" Glacia quickly responded to Metagross's counter.
Glalie's head took on a metallic color before rushing into the Ice Shards and shattering them. "Glalie!" The Ice-type continued his path, rushing for Metagross.
"So it's a head-on attack, huh? That won't do you good." Steven crossed his arms, looking at Metagross floating before him.
Glalie was an inch away from Metagross, about to slam into him.
Metagross disappeared before Glalie could land a hit. "Gla?" Glalie looks back, seeing Metagross appearing behind him.
"Now, Zen Headbutt!" The Steel-blue haired boy quickly took the small opening.
Glacia smirks, holding out her hand out. "Glalie, Dark Pulse right now!" The pale-blonde hair trainer quickly responds to Metagross dodging their first attack.
"Glalie!" The Ice-type's eyes released a dark beam at Metagross's Zen Headbutt.
The Dark-type Move canceled out Metagross's Zen Headbutt,
Metagross was thrown back before catching himself in mid-air. "Meta," The Iron Leg Pokemon looks at his Partner,
Sweat ran down Steven's face, seeing that Glacia wasn't pulling any punches. "(No wonder she's a veteran trainer, her Glalie is a level above me.)" Steven said under his breath before a smirk appeared on his face. "I like this Challenge."
"If you like this Challenge then you don't mind, I'll make my move." The Ice-type trainer stated, holding out her hand. "Glalie, use Iron Head!"
Once more, Glalie's head took on a metallic color and rushed at Metagross.
Steven was waiting for the Face Pokemon to use Iron Head again. "Metagross, use Psychic on the boulders around you and use them as shields!" He cried out,
"Meta!" Metagross used Psychic to lift the boulders around him and gathered around Glalie,
"What!?" Glacia was shocked and so was Glalie, the boulders from the Battlefield were now floating in the air.
"Gla-Glalie? Glalie!?" Glalie looks around for an opening, however, the boulders were blocking his view of Metagross.
Back in the audience, Helena's eyes widen at the sight before them. "Now I see, Steven was waiting for the moment Glalie use Iron Head to use the boulders to his advantage." The black-haired trainer commented,
"Kirlia…" Kirlia added, seeing how Steven was patient to attempt this strategy.
"I knew Steven might have some strategy for this match," Flannery commented with a smirk,
Brawly chuckles, agreeing with the red-haired girl. "Our dude is full of surprises," He added to Flannery's comment.
Steven snaps his fingers, expecting that result to happen. "Excellent! Now, Metagross, use Meteor Mash, full speed!" The Steel-blue haired trainer exclaims, taking the window of confusion.
"Meta!" Metagross's arms took on a metallic color then rushed for Glalie.
"Glalie, use Ice Shard!" Glacia tried to use a move that her Partner could use to defend against Metagross's assault. Even if she still has a few moments until the Light Screen fades, it's still not enough to defend against him.
"Glalie!" Glalie opens his mouth, three ice balls form only for Metagross to crash into him.
The impact caused an explosion that the boulders shattered near it.
Everyone looked at the dust cloud, awaiting whoever was standing to come out. Once the dust settled, there floating were both Glalie and Metagross glared each other down,
Steven held on, waiting for the final result.
"G-Gla…lie…" Glalie reverts to his original form as he fell to the ground.
Metagross reverts to his original form as he fell to the ground, still standing from the impact.
Blanche raised her hand to Steven's side of the Battlefield, "Glalie is unable to Battle, the victor goes to Metagross and the Challenger Steven Stone!" Like before the crowds burst into cheers, (End Song)
"Way to go Steven!" Helena cheered as Kirlia excitedly cheered in her arms.
Brawly hoots at his friends' victory, getting closer to facing the current Champion of the Region.
Roxanne claps her hands, cheering for the Steel-blue haired boy's win. "That's one Elite Four member down,"
"One more to go," Flannery continued after the brunette, "Steven is on a roll here in the Champion League." She smiled, before looking at the dark blue tower next to the Ice Tower.
Jackie looked over to where Flannery was looking, already knowing what she was thinking. "Steven's gonna face the toughest member yet, the Dragon Tamer, Drake."
Helena overheard what her friends were talking about, she knows how tough Dragon-type Pokemon are. But she has confidence that Steven will overcome the next challenge.
Back on the Battlefield, Glacia just called back Glalie after a long and draining Battle. "You did an excellent job, Glalie. Get some rest, my friend." She smiles softly at her Partner's Pokeball.
Glacia made her way over to Steven, petting Metagross's head. "Awesome job as always, Metagross." Steven compliments his friend's hard work on the Battlefield.
Steven looks at Glacia, now standing in front of him. "I have to say, the only person who was able to defeat me was the current Champion of Hoenn." The pale blonde woman commented on his ability to defeat her. "Mr. Stone, you have great promise in being the next Champion. I'm looking forward to that day."
Steven nodded, accepting Glacia's compliment to him. "I appreciate your faith in me, Ms. Glacia. I'll work hard and beat the next Elite Four and the current Hoenn Champion." The young trainer humbly replied.
Glacia held her hand out, offering a gesture of respect to the young Challenger. To nobody's surprise, Steven responded and shook her hand.
"This concludes the second Round of the Champion League." Blanche announced to the cheering crowd, "Steven Stone will be continuing his path in the Champion League. His next opponent will be facing the strongest member of the Elite Four."
After the whole spiel, Steven was in the Locker room and currently waiting for Helena to come by like before. He heard the doors open and assume it was Helena who entered the locker room.
"Ellie, you're here to-" Steven paused, seeing a person he wasn't expecting to be in Evergrande City.
"Maya," The teal-haired girl smiles at him, holding her hands behind her back.
"Hi, Steven." Maya greeted the trainer before her.
