Ch 45 Champion of Hoenn Pt 2
(Insert Battle! Wallace - Pokémon Masters)
Cradily was sent out and was able to take down Starmie with Ingrain then a Power Whip.
She continued to push through when Walrein was sent out. With another Power Whip and healing from the Ingrain, Cradily was able to make work with the Ice/Water-type Pokemon.
However mid Battle, Walrein froze over the Battlefield with Ice Beam, rendering Cradily's Ingrain useless. With a powerful Sheer Cold, Cradily was taken out easily.
After Cradily's defeat, Steven called her back and brought in Aggron to better his chances.
Walrein's Ice-type Moves did little effect on Aggron due to his part Steel-typing. The Iron Armor Pokemon went and charged in with Smart Strike.
Aggron's attack was super effective against Walrein, however, he fell to Ludicolo's Surf which was super effective against him.
Ludicolo also took out Claydol in one fell swoop with a Giga Drain.
Once Claydol was defeated, Steven sent out Armaldo who finished off the Grass/Water-type Pokemon with an X-Scissor dead center.
Wallace soon brought out Wiscash, and after a fierce battle, he soon fell to Armaldo's Giga Impact.
The teal-haired Champion called back Wiscash and switches out with his Partner, "Milotic, it's your turn!" Wallace tosses his Second to last Pokeball onto the Battlefield.
A slender beautiful Pokemon appeared from the Pokeball, she cried a beautiful melody across the Battlefield.
"A Milotic, a fitting Pokemon for someone like you." Steven chuckles, admitting that the most considered beautiful Pokemon was his Partner.
"Why thank you Steven; Milotic here was my Partner was the one who got me to the top." The teal-haired Champion said, giving praise to the Tender Pokemon.
The pure Water-type sang at Wallace's compliment,
Steven smiles at Wallace, responding to his statement. "Be prepared, Wallace, because you're not the only one who will climb to the top with their Pokemon." He stated, looking at the Fossil Pokemon standing before him. "Right Armaldo?"
Armaldo looks back at his trainer, nodding to his question. "Armaldo!" He responded with confidence.
Wallace chuckles, seeing the fire in his eyes. The fire that drew him in when they first met at the Trainer School, "Alright, let's see if what you say is true!" The teal-haired Champion held out his hand.
Steven Stone/ Armaldo vs Wallace/ Milotic
"Milotic, let's show these two the power we have as Champion and Partners!" Wallace proclaims at the Challenger. "Aqua Tail!"
Milotic cried out a melodic voice as water engulfed the tail. She quickly dashed forward, demonstrating her speed in front of everyone.
With no time to react, Milotic appears before the Plate Pokemon. She slams her tail into Armaldo,
"Armaldo!" Steven cried out, not sure what happened. Shaking his head, he retaliated against Milotic. "Use X-Scissor, quickly!" He shouted.
Armaldo heard his trainer and promptly planted his feet on the ground before dashing towards the Tender Pokemon. "Armaldo!" His arms glowed a light greenish hue and charged forward.
He slashed both ways at Milotic, however with her slender body she was able to evade the attack. "Milotic, catch him!" Wallace shouted,
Milotic wraps her body around the Plate Pokemon, making it unable for him to escape.
"Armaldo, try to escape!" Steven cried out to the Duel-type Pokemon, being strangled by the tightening grip of Milotic.
"ARMALDO!" The Plate Pokemon cried, unable to do what Steven asked him to.
Wallace held his hand out dramatically with a smile, "Now my beautiful Milotic, finish Armaldo with a Disarming Voice!" The Champion exclaims.
Milotic lets out a graceful voice as a pink soundwaves hits Armaldo straight on. After a good while, she lets go of Armaldo as he fell to the ground.
The Rotom Drones approached the Fossil Pokemon, and the image of Armaldo with swirls in his eyes appeared on the monitors.
The crowd cheered for Wallace and Milotic for defeating Armaldo with ease,
Back in the audience, everyone was shocked by how quickly Wallace's Milotic took out Armaldo.
"Okay, that was fast." Brawly gave a slight chuckle, a bit scared of how fast Milotic was. "Not even my fastest Pokemon couldn't even keep up with Wallace's Milotic." He commented.
Flannery gulps, feeling the same thing when she saw Wallace's Milotic speed. "I gotta admit, I don't think my Pokemon can beat Milotic." The red-haired girl added.
"Kirlia! Kirlia!" The Fairy/Psychic-type cheered for Milotic claiming victory.
Roxanne looks over to the Duel-type Pokemon, cheering rather loudly. "Kirlia seems to be enjoying this Battle more than the previous ones." The brunette smiles down at Helena's Partner.
Helena gently placed her hands on her Partner, preventing her from falling off her lap. "Well, Milotic was the one who saved both me and Kirlia from poachers." She explains, seeing that Kirlia looks up to Milotic.
"Ah, I remember now. That's when you met Dratini and brought her to the Pokemon Center." Roxanne commented, remembering that day when they were going to Lavaridge Town. "No wonder Wallace was with you then," She chuckles, connecting the dots.
"Well, back then I was shocked too," Helena commented,
"Not as shocked as the poachers when Wallace showed up with Milotic by his side." Jackie jokes, picturing the expression of those poachers.
Back on the battlefield, Steven held out Armaldo's Pokeball and aimed it right at him. "Armaldo, you did great out there. Get some rest," He calls back his Partner.
A red beam went straight for the Fossil Pokemon, returning him inside the Pokeball. The Steel-blue haired boy took out his final Pokeball,
"Well, it seems that you got only one Pokemon left, Steven." Wallace motions to the scoreboard. On his side, he only has two Pokemon left including Milotic while Steven has only one.
"Metagross! You're up!" Steven knows that his Partner is his only chance to become Champion. He tosses his Pokeball onto the Battlefield, releasing his Partner.
Metagross slams onto the ground, "Meta!" He cried, ready to face Wallace's Milotic.
The teal-haired Champion smirks, already knowing all the moves that Metagross can do. "Metagross, from the beginning I knew you chose him to be your last Pokemon," Wallace commented.
Steven smirks at Wallace in response to the Champion's comment. "I intend to win this Battle with my long-time Partner, Wallace." He stated, making his first move against him. "Okay, Metagross, use Meteor Mash right on the bat!" Steven exclaims.
"Meta!" The Iron Leg Pokemon dashed forward, his arm took on a metallic hue. He slams his arm at the Tender Pokemon.
However, Milotic dodge the attack, "Aqua Tail, let's go!" Wallace cried out to his Partner.
Milotic let out a graceful cry, as her tail was engulfed by water. She swung her tail at Metagross, slamming him back into Steven.
Metagross plants his legs onto the ground, shaking off the remaining water. "Metagross, are you okay?" Steven asked his Partner.
"Meta!" Metagross nods, responding to his trainer.
"Tankey, but it won't do you any good." Wallace chuckles, getting excited about their Battle. He held out his hand to his Partner. "Milotic, attack with Ice Beam!" He ordered her.
Milotic opens her mouth as a small light blue orb appears inside. Three blue jagged rays hit the ground, freezing it over once more.
Back in the audience, everyone saw that the Champion of Hoenn was redoing the strategy he did to defeat Cradily.
"Ah! So that's what he was doing when Ice Beam was used." Helena spoke up, catching the direction the Ice Beam was heading.
"What? What did Wallace do?" Brawly asked, not getting it quickly as his black-haired friend.
Helena looks over to Brawly, explaining what the Champion did. "Well freezing the Battlefield like before with Walrein prevents Cradily to heal with Ingrain." She looks at Metagross, struggling to remain still. "Metagross is fast, with a frozen Battlefield he will have a difficult time just keeping up his speed."
"I think I get it," Jackie spoke up, listening to Helena and Brawly's conversation. "Wallace is fully aware of Metagross's extreme speed. By getting rid of that, it'll hinder him from attacks."
"Damn, here I thought Wallace knows a little bit of Battling but he's like a prodigy!" Flannery exclaims, taken aback by the knowledge Wallace has of Pokemon Battles.
Roxanne chuckles, crossing her legs and watching the Pokemon Battle. "That goes for show, Wallace isn't someone to trifle with." The brunette commented.
On the Battlefield, Steven frowns at how Wallace was prepared for Metagross. Freezing the Battlefield over. 'Wallace, you're always prepared for anything I dish out.' He chuckles, looking at his opponent. "However, do you really think Metagross is quick on his feet?"
"What?" Wallace questions what Steven said.
"Magnet Rise!" Steven held up his hand, ordering Metagross to use his new Move.
"Meta!" Metagross's body generated electricity as his body floated above the ice field.
Wallace's eyes widen at Steven having a counter to the frozen field strategy. "Now that's impressive, way to go." He appealed but stopped. "However, just because you can avoid my frozen field, doesn't mean I have other tricks in my sleeves."
Steven scoffs, proceeding to attack Milotic. "Metagross, use Meteor Mash!"
"A head-on attack? Then I'll respond with a Hydro Pump!" The teal-haired Champion quickly retaliated against Metagross's Meteor Mash.
The pure Water-type held her head back, she lets out a melodic cry before releasing a powerful jet of water from her mouth. The Hydro Pump hurls toward the Metagross's Meteor Mas, however, the metallic hue was able to shrug the water away.
Metagross punched Milotic dead on, causing the Tender Pokemon to cry out.
"Milotic!" Wallace called out to his Partner, seeing Milotic swaying back and forth. Soon she fell forward, dropping to the ground.
The Rotom Drone approached Milotic, showing her face with spirals in her eyes.
"…" Red raised his hand to Steven's side, indicating that he has won this round of the match.
The crowds cheered louder than ever, now that both trainers are on an even footing. Both Pokemon trainers have one Pokemon left, the next Battle will be the decisive Battle.
"It's the final stretch, both Steven and Wallace have one Pokemon left." Flannery cheered, seeing Wallace calling back the Tender Pokemon.
"I know, this is way exciting!" Brawly looks at the red-haired girl next to him. "Who do you think will win? I know it's a bit biased, but I think Steven will win." The Fighting-type trainer commented.
"Really? I believe Steven will win." Flannery waved her hand, "After all, he has a winning streak since the Conference." The Fire-type trainer commented.
Roxanne giggled, looking at Flannery and Brawly. "If you two are cheering on for Steven then it's only right for me and Jackie to cheer for Wallace." The brunette added her thoughts to the conversation.
The blonde boy looks at Roxanne, nodding to her statement. "It'll be fun betting who would win this Battle." Jackie added, "The Champion or the Challenger? Who will claim the title of Hoenn League Champion?"
Jackie and the others chuckle, he looks over to Helena who joined in the laughing. "Helena, who do you think will win this match?' He asked the former Witch.
Helena looks over to her friends, hearing their conversation. "Personally, I hope that Wallace and Steven would give it their all to this Battle." She commented, expressing that she doesn't have any sides.
"Kirlia," Kirlia nodded, seeing her trainer prefers to be natural regarding their friends.
"I see," Flannery nodded, understanding her stand in this conversation. She smirks, raising her finger at her, "But…" She sang,
"If you have to choose, which one would it be?" Flannery continues,
Helena giggled, already having an answer to the question. "Well, if I have to choose who would win…" She blushed, about to answer her friend. "It's gotta be Steven."
Flannery held out her hand to Brawly, "Pay up,"
"Tch, fine." Brawly gave her five Pokedollars from his pocket, indicating they were betting.
Back on the Battlefield, Wallace has just returned Milotic back to her Pokeball. He chuckled as he looks up at his Rival, impressed by his strategy. "I didn't expect that Metagross learn Magnet Rise. That changes things with my frozen Battlefield strategy." He commented.
"You might have a chance to win this," Wallace continued speaking to Steven.
Metagross floated in front of his trainer, "Once you reveal yourself as the Champion, I figured you might have some Ice-type Moves hidden among your Water-type." Steven stated, crossing his arms and looking at his Rival.
"I knew that when I use my Cradily and Metagross, you will try to hinder their strongest assets." The Steel-blue haired trainer commented, "Cardily's Ingrain, Metagross's speed, that's why you target them. But what you didn't expect is that Metagross can learn a Move that could avoid that obstacle."
Wallace chuckles, seeing that his Rival was thinking like a proper Champion. He looks over to the Kanto Champion, seeing that Red has heard what Steven said.
"…" Red smiles at how prepared Steven was for this Battle.
The current Hoenn Champion smirks, taking out his last and final Pokeball. "That's good to hear, Steven. However you forgot, I have one more Pokemon left in my team." He showed the Pokeball to Steven as it glimmered in the sunlight. "I'm sure you know who this is, after all, he is the Pokemon I travel with when I was on your Journey." He smiles.
Wallace twirls around on his platform, "Swampert! It's your turn!" The teal-haired Champion tossed his Pokeball onto the Battlefield, releasing his final Pokemon.
From the Pokeball, a large light blue Pokemon with a large fin at the end and two on top of his head. Two spiked orange sacks were on both sides of his cheeks, like a frog's throat. "Swampert!" The Water/Ground-type Pokemon roars as his sacks blow up.
"Swampert…" Helena took out her Rotom Phone, aiming the camera at Wallace's Partner.
-ZZZ- Swampert, the Mud Fish Pokemon. A Water and Ground-type. -ZZZ- The Pokedex App informed the group. -ZZZ- Swampert is very strong. It has enough power to easily drag a boulder weighing more than a ton. This Pokémon also has powerful vision that lets it see even in murky water. -ZZZ-
"So, Wallace's Marshtomp has evolved into a Swampert." Brawly chuckles, seeing how well-trained the Starter Pokemon was based on the cry.
"And it seems he has added an accessory to his Partner." Roxanne points to the green handkerchief around Swampert's neck.
Everyone looked at Wallace's Swampert and noticed the handkerchief. "Typical Wallace, always wanting to make a fashion statement." Roxanne smiles, knowing their friend too well.
Helena saw something glimmering behind the Mud Fish Pokemon's back. "Hey, Kirlia, do you see that?" She points to the tied handkerchief at the back.
Kirlia looks at the handkerchief, seeing a light blue gem with an orange and grey flame within it. "Kirlia! Kirlia!" She points to the gem, gaining Helena's and the others' attention.
"Ah! It's a Swamprtite!" Helena saw the Mega Stone on Swampert's handkerchief.
"Does that mean Swampert can Mega Evolve!?" Flannery asked, seeing the Mega Stone on the Mud Fish Pokemon.
"Seems so, Flannery." Jackie commented, looking at the red-haired girl, "But I don't see a Key Stone."
"He must be hiding it," Helena added,
Back on the Battlefield, Steven prepared himself upon Wallace bringing out his final Pokemon. "So, this is it, Wallace," Steven spoke, opening his collar, and getting serious with the final match.
"Yes, it is." Wallace grins, ready to face his Rival. "This was the most fun I had in a Pokemon Battle since I've become Champion. And that was against Chairwoman," He looks over to Blanche watching from the observation deck.
Blanche smiles down at Wallace on the Battlefield,
"I'm glad that I was able to entertain and meet your expatriation in this Battle, Wallace," Steven commented, admitting to himself he was having fun. "I'm having fun too,"
"I'm sorry, but I have to end this round," Wallace smirked as Red lowered his hand indicating the Battle has begun.
Steven Stone/ Metagross vs Wallace/ Swampert
The teal-haired Champion held out his hand to Swampert. "Swampert, it's been a while since you've seen Steven and Metagross." He smirks at his Partner. "Let's begin with a Bulk up, then Hammer Arm!"
"SWAMP!" Swampert's muscle grew before taking an orange hue. He leaps forward, charging at the Iron Leg Pokemon.
"Metagross, Meteor Mash to counter!" Steven quickly retaliated,
"Meta!" Metagross's arms took on a metallic hue before leaping forward at the Starter.
Both collided, causing an explosion of two powerful moves from each Pokemon.
The two leap back to their respected trainer, shrugging off the attack. "Metagross, are you okay?" Steven asked, seeing his Partner has taken much damage.
Metagross smirks at his trainer, nodding that he was fine. "Meta!"
"Swamp," Swampert shook his head, looking up at Metagross. "SWAMPERT!"
"Seems like you're still fired up, Swampert!" Wallace laughs at the Mud Fish Pokemon's resolve. He held out his hand, ready to issue the next attack. "If you're this fired up, then attack Metagross with Muddy Water!" He ordered his Partner
"SWAMP!" The Duel-type cried as brown mud burst underneath him. The Muddy Water began to form a huge wave as Swampert commands it to strike his opponent,
Steven raised his hands, knowing how to counter this attack, "Psychic, let's go!" He shouted.
Metagross's X glowed a blue hue; the Muddy Water that Swampert was riding took on the same aura. "Meta!" He cried as he used Psychic to disburse the wave.
"SWAMPERT!" The Mudfish Pokemon leaps from the disbursed wave, he was just above Metagross.
"Now Liquidation, Swampert!" Wallace grins, finding an opening to use.
"Quickly, counter with Flash Cannon!" Steven responded to the Champion's call.
Metagross's X now glowed a metallic hue, aiming it at Swampert.
Swampert's arms burst into water, propelling down from the air at Metagorss.
They released their attacks, colliding with each other like before.
