Ch 48 New Encounters
It happened so fast, one moment she was at the Hammerlocke Gym's Lobby and the next she was taken to a teashop by a strange old lady resembling Professor McGonagall.
Helena looks at Hatenna, Kirlia, and Dratini enjoying some sweets with a pink frosting-like Pokemon. She smiles at how adorable this Pokemon was, resembling a strawberry-frosted desert.
She looks back at the elderly drinking her tea. "Now that's what I call tea." The elderly woman stated, "No matter how many times I've been to this teashop, their tea always gets better." The woman commented.
"Um, excuse me but why did you bring me here ma'am?" Helena asked the stranger sitting before her.
"Dear me, my apologies Child. I do have the tendency of running up to trainers and seeing if they are worthy." The elderly woman explains to Helena why she brought her to the teashop.
"Worthy?"
"Yes, worthy of being the next Ballonlea Gym Leader." The elderly woman explains, taking her fork and slicing the cake before her. "You see, I'm already in my early seventies and haven't found a suitable trainer to replace me. But when I saw your aura, I could tell you are special. Pink! That's what I call someone who is special." She explains.
Helena blinks, hearing what the woman said. "You're the Ballonlea Gym Leader?" She asked.
The elderly woman paused, realizing she forgot to introduce herself to the young trainer before her. "Oh, do forgive me. I was infatuated with your aura that I didn't introduce myself properly." She apologizes to her. "My name is Opal McGonagall, I'm the Ballonlea Gym Leader. My specialty is Fairy-type Pokemon."
"And by the looks of it, you have some of your own as well," Opal looks at Helena's Partners enjoying sweets with her Alcremie.
"They do like sweets, I happen to make some Pokepuffs in my spare time for them," Helena commented before introducing herself. "Oh, my name's Helena Potter."
"Potter, you say? Tell me dear are you somewhat related to the Potters?" Opal asked the former Witch.
Helena's eyes widen at the mention of her Family's name being spoken. "W-Wait, h-how did-"
Opal lets out a small Grandmotherly chuckle. "Child, do you really think I wouldn't recognize a Witch from the other World now do you?" The Gym Leader stated, smiling at the young Researcher.
The words spoken to Helena were something that she wasn't expecting. Sure it's been a while since she left Hogwarts but she does remember that there were many runaways in the past that Arceus allowed to travel to the Pokemon World.
"(Are you someone who came from the Wizarding World?)" Helena whispers, not wanting any other people to listen to their conversation.
Opal smiles, "Of course, Child, and if you know the Wizarding World then you must know my dear younger Sister, Minny or Minerva." The elderly Gym Leader said,
"You're Professor McGonagall's Sister!? I never knew that she had one." Helena didn't expect to run into people from her old World at any point. "If you don't mind, can you tell me why you came to this World?
"Well, it's a bit of a sensitive topic. In short, I came to Galar to get away from a marriage proposal from the Dumbledore Family's Son." Opal explains, looking down at her tea. "The time when I was young was hard for a Witch in the Wizarding World."
Helena nodded; she could relate to the old Gym Leader on that topic. "I feel the same, I ran from a marriage proposal myself as well."
The Fairy-type Gym Leader looks up at the young trainer, "My dear, I'm sorry to hear that. To think this generation of Wizards and Witches are still doing that." Opal sighs, ashamed of what their people were doing to young Children. "Only if the Wizarding Community would change and move on like the people of Modern Britain." She sighs, shaking her head.
"I get what you mean, but it's a bit more complicated for me than yours Ms. McGonagall," Helena said kindly, not wanting to feel selfish when saying it.
"I'm sure it is, my Child." Opal sips her tea before asking her about something. "Tell me, if you don't mind Helena, how's my Sister? Is she taking care of herself?"
Helena blinks at the Transfiguration Professor's Older Sister. "I know it's been years since I last saw her, and I'm probably never going to…but I'm curious about how she's doing." Opal continues, wanting to know about her. She then chuckles, "I can tell by the way you address me that she became a Professor of Hogwarts."
"If you would like, I can tell you what Hogwarts is like." Helena offered,
"That would be lovely dear,"
Helena cleared her throat, trying to remember what the School was like. "When I went to Hogwarts, things were…complicated. Everyone has had high expectations of me since I defeated Voldemort when I was little,"
Opal frowns, hearing that name. "Voldemort, I never heard that name for a while now." She sighs, remembering the chaos he left in his wake. "You said that you defeated him as an infant? Let me guess, did Albus make you some Hero because of some Prophecy?"
"Yes, however since he's defeat Dumbledore still believes that he would return." Helena sighs at the complications the Wizards have. "He's becoming more…how should I say…"
Opal had a feeling that the Dumbledore Helena spoke of was the one she ran from. "Desperate?"
"Yeah, desperate. He keeps on hiring questionable teachers other than my Uncle Remus but from that, it went spiraling." Helena continued,
Opal chuckles, hearing that old coot is still the same after all these years. "Same old Albus, I swear he is persistent as an old goat." She commented.
"So, Headmaster Dumbledore was your fiancé?" The former Witch asked the old Gym Leader.
"Yes, he can be full of himself when he was younger, especially when it involves Gillert. But that was an era-long pass," Opal said, getting a headache from just thinking about that man. "He's not suited to be the Headmaster, if anything Minny should be the one in charge of the place. Tell me, what does she do?"
Helena nodded, getting to the point of her explanation. "Professor McGonagall is the Transfiguration Professor of Hogwarts and the Head of Gryffindor House."
Opal smiles happily, clasping her hands together. "Oh, that's wonderful. To think Minny is the Transfiguration Professor of that School. Is she being nice to you?" She asked, a bit worried if she was following Dumbledore's lead.
"Oh yes, Professor McGonagall is one of the best Professors in Hogwarts." Helena stated, "She helps me a lot when it comes to my schoolwork and when Ron is bothering me."
"Ron? I take it he is the person you ran from?" Opal asked, having a gut feeling that was the person she was engaged to. Helena could only nod in response, "I see…well, I'm happy you were able to start a new life here."
Helena nodded, "Yeah, I met so many people, learn so many things from the Trainer School back in Hoenn, and…"
"Met someone? I know the feeling." Opal chuckles, noting the blush on her cheeks.
"Y-Yes…" Helena stills remember the kiss that Steven gave to her on the night before she left.
Opal drinks her tea before asking more questions about this young Maidan. "Helena, I want to know something; this isn't regarding our Old World. But it's about yourself." She said,
Helena tilts her head, nodding to the old Gym Leader's question. "Yes?"
"Have you experienced new abilities?" The Gym Leader asked. "Like speaking to Pokemon, or having Psychic abilities?"
Helena thought for a moment before remembering the Valley of Steel incident. "Yes, I was able to speak with a Steelix back in Hoenn and I can sense a Key Stone is near. Other than that, that was it." She said to the old Gym Leader. "Do you have abilities too, Ms. McGonagall?"
Opal nodded, "Of course, but I do believe this place isn't the right place to really explain." She stood up from her chair, looking at her Alcremie. "Alcremie dear, it's time to go."
"Alcremie," The Cream Pokemon hops over to her Partner, climbing on her shoulders.
The Gym Leader looks over to the young Researcher, smiling at her. "Helena, when you get the time, please visit the Ballonlea Gym. I want to give you a little…insight into what we Witches and Wizards can do when they come to the Pokemon World."
The black-haired trainer nodded, "I'll ask Professor Ceder if I can go."
"Your Mentor will definitely let you go. Farewell, Child; I'll be awaiting for you at my Gym." Opal walks over to the exit after paying for the food.
Helena looks at her Pokemon finishing the sweets left for them. "Alright everyone, let's head back." She said to her Pokemon, and in return they obliged.
Outside of Hammerlocke Gym, Adam was with Magnolia and two young female trainers. One with orange hair and pale skin. The other trainer has dark skin and black hair with light blue highlights.
"Are you sure that Helena wasn't with you two?" Adam asked the two trainers before him, worried about his Apprentice.
"I'm sure, Professor. We were at the Pokemon Center assumingly that she would head there." The orange-haired girl explains,
The dark-haired girl nodded, "We were waiting for a while until we decided to come to the Gym in case, we saw her." Nessa continues,
Magnolia gently patted Adam's back, assuring her that she was safe somewhere. "Adam, I understand you're worried for your Apprentice but do calm down." The Region's Professor stated, "Hammerlocke is one of the safest Cities in Galar, besides she's a Pokemon trainer. They're meant to be exploring new places."
"I know," Adam sighs, sliding his hand through his hair. "I'm good with students but when it comes to one being in a different Region, it's entirely different." He explains, feeling responsible for her.
Nessa's eyes drifted to the left side of the City; she then spots a black-haired girl in the same description that Professor Ceder asks them to keep an eye out for. "Sonia, isn't that her?"
Sonia looked at the girl approaching them and instantly knew that was her. She turns to her Grandmother and the Professor, "Grandma, Professor Ceder, is that Helena over there with Hatenna in her arms?" She points to the trainer.
The two adults looked behind them and saw Helena approaching them. "Helena! There you are!" Adam sighed in relief at the sight of his Apprentice. "You had us worry there for a second."
"Professor, I'm sorry for making you worry." Helena apologizes, fully aware that she was off the plan they made. "We were at a café with someone, right Hatenna?"
"Hat!" The Duel-type said, supporting her trainer's statement.
"It's fine, as long as you're okay," Adam said before Professor Magnolia walks up to her.
"Young lady, you shouldn't go off without telling someone." The elderly Professor scolded the young trainer. "Adan was frantic that you weren't with my Granddaughter and her friend."
Helena nodded, "Yes, I know and I'm sorry, Professor Magnolia." She apologizes to the Region's Professor as well.
The orange-haired trainer approached both Helena and her Grandmother. "Grandma, there's no need to scold her anymore." She turns to Helena, smiling at her. "Hi, my name is Sonia Magnolia. I'm sure you're aware of this but I'm Elizabeth Magnolia's Granddaughter. It's nice to meet a fellow trainer." Sonia smiles, extending her hand to Helena.
"It's nice to meet a fellow trainer too," Helena shakes Sonia's hand before noticing her friend next to her.
"I'm Nessa Scott, it's nice to meet you, Helena." Nessa greeted the former Witch. "I have to say, you got a cute outfit," She compliments her outfit, suiting someone like her.
Helena smiles, appreciating the compliment she got from the trainer. "Thank you, your hair is gorgeous. It really goes well with your white blouse, Nessa." She returns the compliment.
Nessa laughs, taking her compliment. "I see you have an eye for fashion, Helena."
"Well, when you have an eccentric friend back in Hoenn, you tend to pick up their traits." Helena giggles, remembering how Wallace would speak about how clothes for a trainer are essential.
The Water-type trainer smiles, placing her hand on her chin. "It seems like you gotta introduced me to your friend, Helena." She commented.
Sonia placed both of her hands on both trainers' shoulders, smiling brightly. "Look how great we're getting along," The cheery trainer stated, "We're going to make great friends!"
Professor Magnolia chuckles, nudging the blue and blonde-haired Professor. "See? What I told you, Adam. Helena will be fine," She said, looking at the young trainer before them.
"You're right, Professor." Adam crossed his arms, looking at his Apprentice. "Though I'm curious who this person is that Helena mentioned." He said.
"Let's worry about that later, for now, let's head back to my Laboratory," Magnolia said, walking over to the direction of the Train Station. "I'm sure you two need the rest after a long plane ride from Hoenn."
Adam nodded, appreciating his fellow Researcher for her hospitality. "Much appreciate it, Professor." He turns to the girl, ready to call them over.
Nessa pulls out her blue Rotom Phone, allowing it to hover before them. "Let's commemorate this new friendship, girls." She turns to Helena, "Are you okay with that Helena?"
Helena giggles, being reminded of her Hoenn friends calling her that. "Yeah, I'm okay with it." She responded, petting Hatenna on her head. "Are you, Hatenna?" She asked her Pokemon.
Hatenna raised her hand, approving the notion. "HAT!"
"Hatenna agrees with it! You're so in tune with your Pokemon, it's amazing." Sonia commented, getting in position next to Nessa.
"Well, both me and my Pokemon have a strong Bond. Our meetings are unique," Helena commented, "I'm sure you and your Pokemon have similar encounters."
"We sure do," They said as Helena smiled, standing next to Sonia as Nessa's Rotom Phone snaps a picture of them.
Wedgehurst
Later that night, everyone was suited for dinner made by Magnolia. Helena got up after giving her and the other Pokemon their dinner. "Eat up everyone," She said as they dug in.
There was her Pokemon, Kirlia, Dratini, and Hatenna, and some of Sonia's and Nessa's.
A Rookidee from Sonia, and a Chewtle from Nessa.
Sonia walks over to Helena, having a bowl in her hand. "Is everyone eating?" She asked, looking at the Pokemon.
"Yeah, they really do like your Grandmother's Pokemon Food," Helena commented before hearing a bark coming from behind. She turns around, seeing a cute Corgi-like Pokemon barking on her back legs.
"Who is this little cutie?" The former Witch leans down, picking up the Pokemon in her arms. "Awe, you're so adorable," Helena coos as the Puppy Pokemon flops around in her arms.
Sonia giggles, seeing Yamper has taken a liking to her new friend. "That, Ellie is Yamper. His species pretty common around Galar," She explains to her. "He's a Pure Electric-type Pokemon you might've felt his electricity when he was flopping in your arms like that."
Yamper barks as Helena places him down so he can go over to the Pokemon Food. "I can feel a tingling feeling in my arms when he was flopping around," Helena commented. "There were a lot of canine Pokemon in Hoenn."
"You mean the Electrike and the Poocheyena lines? Those two lines are pretty common in your home Region." Sonia stated as the two entered back into the Lab.
Helena nodded, sitting at the table with everyone. "You'd be surprised at how much those two would appear when traveling."
"Believe us, we get it," Nessa said, sitting across from them. "So, traveling with Professor Ceder, are you going to be a Pokemon Professor like him?" She asked the aspiring Researcher.
"Yes, back in Hoenn I came across an old book that contains old extinct forms of Pokemon," Helena explains to the two. "From there, I decided to look into it more and got the attention of Professor Ceder."
Sonia nodded, "That's an interesting topic to study, my Grandmother delved into that some time ago. So I understand a bit from her." She said to the black-haired girl. "I believe Professor Oak studies Regional forms maybe you might see him on your trip."
Nessa agreed with her orange-haired friend. "Now that's something to look forward to on your Journey to becoming a Pokemon Researcher." She points to the former Witch across from her.
Helena giggles, leaning on the table. "Now which Professor Oak are you referring to Sonia?" She asked Sonia. "Because I heard that there's a Professor Oak in the Kanto Region and one in the Alola Region." She jokingly said to her new friend.
"She does have a point there, Sonia." Nessa caught on, deciding to play a part in their little game.
Sonia gave a light chuckle, knowing what these two were doing. "Alola of course, after all, it was Professor Samson Oak who publish a complete book on different Regional Variants of Pokemon." The orange-haired girl stated, showing her bookworm side.
Nessa pouts, placing her hand on her hands. "Awe, I always didn't like that you catch on to the teasing Sonia." The dark-haired trainer whines.
Helena could only giggle seeing that these two have a strong friendship. "Hey, I don't like being teased and all, so why not counter it with my own quirk," Sonia commented.
"She does have a point there, Nessa." The black-haired girl commented. After a few short conversations, Nessa then remembered something from today.
"So, going off-topic right now. Where did you go today, Helena?" Nessa asked the black-haired trainer, curious about her whereabouts. "You went off somewhere and we're worried for you."
Sonia nodded, "You said you were with someone. Who was it?" She asked.
"Oh, right. When I was coming to the Lobby of Hammerlocke Gym, I was intercepted by Opal-"
Both Sonia and Nessa slam their hands on the table, shocked to hear that name. "AS IN THE BALLONLEA GYM LEADER!?" They shouted in unison,
Helena backed up, feeling like they were invading her personal space. "Um, yeah. She just upright came to me and shouted Pink," She paused, remembering the scene earlier today. "I don't think anyone paid much attention."
Nessa sat back down, understanding what she meant. "It's pretty common for Ms. McGonagall to come up to a random trainer and does her thing during a Gym Challenge." The Water-type user explains, "Even when there are no Gym Battles."
"Ms. McGonagall must've really taken a liking to you," Sonia added, knowing she only does that to trainers who interest her.
"Well, she did invite me over to Ballonlea for another chat," Helena informed her new friends about it.
"Then definitely she has taken a smitten on you," Nessa commented, crossing her arms. "You better tell Professor Ceder, if we know anything about Ms. McGonagall then she will appear out of nowhere."
Sonia nodded, "Speaking about Ballonlea, both me and Ness were planning to visit there." She explains. "I heard that their shops are filled with many clothing lines from Kalos. Wanna join?"
Helena ponders for a bit, it would be a good opportunity there to see what the Gym Leader wants to say to her. On the plus side, traveling with companions is always fun. "Sure, but I need to ask Professor Ceder first."
"Of course, glad to have you tag along." Sonia smiles, happy Helena accepts.
Unknown Area
"Look, he has your Mother's eyes ….." A male's voice spoke softly to him,
A gentle hand strokes his head, he looks up seeing blurred faces looking down at him. "My Mother's eyes and your Family's messy hair. But his hair color is truly a work of Magic." A female voice said to the male's voice. "Still, it only makes him more perfect, …"
"You know what makes him more perfect? A name," The male spoke once more to the female. "What should we call our Son?"
"Hmmm, how about N-"
(Insert N's Encounter Theme (Remastered) | Pokémon Black & White)
A young man around sixteen gasps, sitting up from his bed. "W-What was that?" He asked himself, he sat in his room pondering what was that dream.
"A-A dream?" The young man has light green long hair, blue eyes, and a pale complexion. "I never had this kind of dream before." He said to himself,
The doors opened, revealing two females walking inside. "N? Are you all right? We heard some noise coming from your room." A blonde girl in a blue blouse and yellow apron and a white skirt approached him,
"You're sweating, do you have a fever?" Another girl with a white blouse, a pink apron, and pink hair, around her was a lime green shawl.
N shook his head, "No, I don't have a fever, Anthea. Just a dream," The young man smiles at his Foster Sister.
"A dream? Was it a nightmare, N?" The blonde asked her Foster Brother.
"It's not, Concordia. It's just a strange dream," The green-haired teen responded to his Sister. "I'm not sure what it means, but I believe it was nothing."
Concordia looks over to Anthea with concern. She looks back at N, wanting to make sure. "You're sure? I know Ghetsis is putting more pressure on you since you became old enough." She stated. "And today is when you go out and collect the Gym Badges to challenge the Champion Alder."
"Concordia's right, if you have sec-"
N got out of bed, interrupting the blonde's statement. He walks over to his drawers where his shoes are and grabs them. "No, if Team Plasma's plan to make trainers release their Pokemon for an equal World comes true, I must become a Pokemon trainer and fulfill my role." He said determinedly.
The young man turns to his Sisters, smiling at them. "I appreciate your concerns, my Sisters but you don't need to worry," N stated.
"I'm going to make the World a better place." He smiles at the two, concerned over him.
Both Sisters got up, nodding at how confident their Foster Brother is. "If you're all right with it, then we'll leave you to prepare," Concordia said to the light green-haired boy.
"Be careful out there, N," Anthea said before they left their Brother alone in his room.
N smiles, watching the two leave. His smiles vanish, placing his hand on his head. The two voices appeared in his mind, as a light pain throbbed in his head. "Ngh, those voices…who were those people, and were they speaking to me?"
"I don't get it…" N said before grabbing the cube he had since he was a Child and getting ready to depart.
AN: So after much consideration, I decided on this part of Helena's Journey should be a subplot regarding Helena and N. In this part, N goes through Black and White's plot until she meets with Helena. Please leave a comment or review.
