Few days later HMAS Darwin left for two month patrol. Mike and Kate keep in contact while Kate was out on Patrol. When she got shore leave she spends one night at Mike place and he spends night at her's. They talk more about there families and was able to share more about her up bringing.
When it was almost Christmas Mike was trying to figure out what to get Kate for Christmas till he got a change to look around in her bedroom while she was having a shower. Soon as he see what she has and hasn't got, it gave him an idea on what to get her. When Kate open the bathroom door wearing nothing but a towel around her, she notice mike turning around looking at her
"what are you looking for Mike" Kate asked as she walk towards him
"Present"
"Christmas present?"
"yeah" Kate smile
"I'm not telling you what I got you for Christmas and it not in here"
"Oh...I'll let you get dress then we can go and finish Christmas shopping" Kate smile
"good idea" Mike look at Kate up and down and she notice it. Mike saw the scared look on her face
"Kate, sorry, it just when you walk out wear nothing but a towel, well... it not what you think"
"then what"
"you look sexy the color of the towel bring out the color in your eyes"
"Really" Mike step forward and kiss her lips
"Yes really I better leave before I do some thing I might regret"
He saw the shock look on Kate face he notice she started to turn around so he put his hands on her shoulders
"Kate it not what you think, what I mean to say is that before I walk out the door I would of taken that towel off you as I walk out the door, I wouldn't of see you naked, I would of tease you, that all"
"that all"
"yes" He pulled Kate into his arms and kiss her.
"As for seeing you naked, I'll let you show me your self one day when your ready" he kiss her lips once more
"thank you for being patient and under standing Mike"
"your welcome, now get dress so we can go shopping" Kate kiss him back
"Yes sir"
Mike look down at the towel and back up to Kate eyes he turn around garbing the towel pulling it undone and away from Kate as he walk out of the room with towel in hand cause Kate to squeal
"Mike" she said in shock with what he done.
She notice he walk out the door closing it behind him while still holding on the towel. He didn't even turn around once to see her standing in her bedroom naked. Kate relies he not only telling the truth but he respect her and also being a patient man that he is. Kate smile as she went and gotten dress.
When she walk out of her bedroom few minutes later Mike was in the kitchen drinking coffee with the towel around his neck and shoulders while smiling
"mike Flynn I couldn't believe what you did before"
"it called trust and honesty Kate and I have to show you one way that you can trust me" she walk up to him warping her arms around his neck giving him a kiss
"One day I'll get you back for what you did" mike smile
"one day aye"
"Yes"
"i can't hardly wait" Kate laugh as he flick his eye brows at her knowing it a joke.
Couple minutes later they left Kate apartment and went shopping. They spent the day shopping for Mike family, that afternoon While Kate was in the ladies toilets, Mike was looking in a shop window when he saw some thing that caught his eye.
He look at it he smile then he turn around and walk over to look though another window when Kate showed up. He turn and smile at her as he wrap his arm around her waist
"Shall we get a cold drink"
"sounds good to me" Kate said as she put her arm around his waist just as they walk down to where a cafe is.
Few days later it was Christmas day, Kate was staying at Mike place so they could leave together to Mike parent place for the day. Paul and Alice invited Kate to join them for Christmas which she excepted after Mike talk her into it.
That morning Mike and Kate arrived at Paul and Alice place. They could hear voices coming from in side the large house. Mike help Kate carry six home made cheese cakes that was made the day before out of the back seat that was on two large trays and bag full of presents up to the front door.
Mike manage to press the door bell while holding tray and bag in hand. They heard kids laughing and adults laughing. Mike press the door bell again and they waited. Then they heard foot steps and the door open
"mike, you made it"
"hi Kelly" Mike walk in first then Kate did. Kelly took the bag of gifts out of mike hand since his hands were full
"Kelly this is Kate, Kate, this is Kelly"
"Please to meet you Kelly"
"you to Kate" Kelly close the door
"Wow is that cheese cakes Mike"
"Yes, Kate and I made them yesterday, why"
"you never made cheese cake in your life" she said laughing
"funny Kate show me how to make them"
"that great, every one else is here"
"Every one" Kate said in shock
"Mike you didn't tell her"
"I said the family going to be here"
"How many Mike?" Kate asked
"Besides mum, dad, you and me twenty one" Kate look shock as she follow Mike down to the kitchen
"mike didn't tell you how many" Kelly asked

"they going to love you, well excepted for Jo she over protective of mike and she hated all his other girl friends so be careful"
"thanks Kelly" When they walk into the kitchen area

Every one called out then they all gave him a hug after he put the tray on the bench then he was greeted by his sisters, brother in laws, nieces and nephews. Kate put the other tray on the bench then she watch how the family greeted Mike. Alice walk over to Kate to give her a hug
"Merry Christmas Kate"
"Merry Christmas Alice" then Alice saw the cheese cakes then look at Kate
"you made these"
"Mike and I did together"
"Paul going to love you, he love cheese cakes and I couldn't buy any in the shops they were all sold out"
"Mike told me so that is why we made different ones"

"Your welcome" they turn to see mike teasing one of his sisters which made every one laugh.
Mike turn and walk over to give his mum a hug then he turn to every one.
"Every one, this is Kate, Kate this is my crazy family I've been telling you about"
"so your Kate, Mike she what ten years younger than you"
"that enough Jo" mike said
"Why Mike, she another blonde you sleeping with, you and your blonde girl friends"
"that enough Jo" Alice said Mike step forward till he was standing in front of his sister
"Jo you have no right to talk about Kate like that. You know nothing about her, so back off"
"Why is she good in bed is she, a one night stand to you and any other sailor"
Every one could see that mike was getting angry, not knowing that Kate walk out of the room with tears in her eyes. Alice turn to notice Kate was gone so she went looking for her when she heard Paul voice
"Jo that enough out of you, you have no right to talk about Kate like that. Mike right you know nothing about her, back off" Paul said in a command tone.
Mike turn around "where Kate, where mum"
"Kate left after what Jo said about her, mum gone to talk to her" Kelly said.
Mike turn to walk out of the kitchen dinning area when he felt a hand on his shoulder, he turn to see his father looking at him
"Let Alice talk to her, while we going to in to the office there some thing I want to talk to you about"
"ok dad" Mike follow his father down and into the office where Paul close the door then they both sat down.
"mike I know about Kate past"
"what do you mean dad"
Paul got up and walk over to a draw pulling a key out of his pocket he unlock the draw and open it pulling out a file then he turn around and walk back to his seat passing the file to mike before he sat down. Mike open it it was news paper clipping about the rape, the court case, every thing. Mike look up at his father
"what how long have you known"
"it was just after we meet Kate and what you told us about her up bringing, read it"
"Dad I know about the rapes, Kate told me every thing, including the attempted suicide" Mike close the file and sat back in the chair
"Dose mum know"
"Yes she dose, what Jo said that would of up set Kate"
"it did dad. As for Kate and me sleeping together, yes we are, that it just sleeping we haven't taken the next step dad. I'm leaving that part up to Kate for when she is ready. It taken her a while to trust me sleeping with her at nights and nothing else"
"I'm prod of you Mike"

"dose Kate know that you will wait till she ready"
"Yes she knows plus in the mean time we getting to know each other"
"Good lad, I'm prod of you Mike" Mike nodded.
While that was happening Alice found Kate out side walking down the drive way so Alice walk down the step then she ran to catch up with Kate since she was walking fast
"Kate...Kate" Alice called out.
Kate stop and turn to see Alice slowing down till she stop in front of her. Alice could see tears falling down Kate checks so she pulled Kate in to a hug which made Kate cry even harder
"It ok Kate, it Ok, Paul dealing with Jo right now"
"Kelly warn me about Jo but I didn't relies how bad it was going to be or the things Jo said about Mike and me" Alice pulled back so she could look at Kate
"What Jo said was uncalled for, I warn her before you and Mike showed up about the way she treats you. She shouldn't of said those things about you. Mike can handle Jo"
"what she said about me, it... hurt to much"
"I know it dose Kate, come on back"
"no, I'm sorry I shouldn't have come"
"Kate Paul and I invited you. Don't worry about Jo, Paul would have had hash words with her by now, come on dear" they slowly walk back to the house.
"Kate there some thing you should know" Kate look at Alice
"Mike told us that you had a bad up bringing"
"I know he told me" Alice nodded
"Mike doesn't know is that after what he told Paul and me about you, Paul had you check out"
"what" Kate said as she stop in shock.
Alice turn to Kate "We know about the abuse, the rapes, the bullying you received while in high school. The attempted suicide. What you went though would have been hell"
"It was"
"But you came out on top finish high school with dux, joining the navy top student in the academy. What happen to you Kate it didn't make you weak it made you stronger and you come a fair way since then. You prove not only to those men who rape you or your mother abuse that your not weak."
"I know it did Alice. I still got along way before I could fully trust a man after what happen to me"
"some one like Mike" Alice said as they start walking again
"Yeah he been so patient so under standing with me" Alice smile.
"don't worry dear he will wait for you. When you are ready, you will know"

"thanks" they walk back into the house and back into the kitchen Alice notice the office door is close when they walk pass.
When they walk into the kitchen the family was talking. Alice notice Mike and Paul not there so there was only place where they will be.
"Kate are you ok" Kelly asked as she walk over to her

"Let me interduce you to the rest of the family"
then Kelly interduce Kate to the rest of the family just as Jo walk back into the kitchen
"your back, I though you ran back home to mummy" Jo said with a smirk.
Every one saw the cold had look on Kate face as she step forward till she walk look up to Jo face then she took a deep breath.
"Alice can you take kids out side please, I don't want them to hear what I have to say"
"kids come on out side" Alice took the kids out side closing the door. She made sure the kids were away from the windows.
"Why did you tell mum to take kids out side for you got no right to tell my mother what to do" Jo said
"i didn't tell her, I ask her and what you said about me was uncalled for Jo you know nothing about me" Kate said keeping her cool

"all of you are lucky to have warm loving, caring parents, I didn't, my up bringing was hell since my mother brought me here ten years ago from England. None of you know the hell I been though" then she look at Jo
"and you Jo, you should watch what you say cause one day you wish you never said those things about any one especially when you know nothing about the person" Kate said in a command tone while looking at Jo

"no you don't talk to me like crap like one of Mike blonde bimbo. You know some thing Jo you are the most cold stone heart person I have every meet after my self fish cold heart abusive, lying bitch of my mother who one of her boy friends and two of his mates raped me when I was thirteen years old during one of my mother drinking drug parties. Those bastard spent hours taken turns in raping me. Then when I told my mother what did she do, she got wooden spoon out of draw and tan my back side till it broke then her boy friend fucken raped me again. A neighbor saw what happen and called the cops. Two of the rapist keep me in my bedroom so I couldn't get to the cops. But I got out the window and ran to them for help. It was in the paper but they got it all wrong, I was bullyed and hounded while at school it was so bad while in foster care I swallow a whole bottle of sleeping tablets. The wife saw what I did and called for an ambulance. All I wanted to do was die, in the papers it was said that I wanted to sleep with those men and that I like it ruff... I was thirteen year old. Cause of what those bastard did to me I ended up getting infection from the tear in my vagina wall and it took two months to fully recover from what they did to me, scratches, bruising, the infections. Those men are serving along time in prison for what they did to me and my mother she did six months then I was return back to her care but she had to follow some strict rules till I finish school and left to join the navy. No thirteen year old girl should of gone through what I've been through. You have no idea what it been like cause you never experience it you self" Kate said yelling as tears falling down her cheeks.
Every one in the room including Jo was shock with what Kate just said about what happen to her.
"Kate" mike said softly She turn around to see Mike and Paul behind her.
"I'm sorry" Kate said as she cry once again.
Mike steped forward and pulled Kate in his arms stroking her back while giving Jo a cold hard look
"Jo you were warn not to say the things you said and look what you've done. Now you know about Kate hell of up bringing. I warn you time and time again and you still won't listen to me. This time you gone to far. What happens in my private life is private got that. I hope you learn your lesson after what you said about Kate."
"Yes Mike"
"Mike can you take me home" Kate said Mike pulled back so he could cup her face while looking at her.
"Are you sure" they look at each other
"I don't know Mike" He pulled her into his arms.
Jane stood up and walk over to Mike and Kate. "Kate" Kate turn to look at Jane
"I would like for you to stay to get to know you. It is Christmas and I know mum and dad did invite you."
"thanks Jane" Then Kelly walk over and stood next to Jane
"i would like you to stay to Kate. Tell you this, your the first mike girl friend that mum and dad invited to join in any family holidays and we can tell you some stories about mike here when he was younger" Kelly said grinning
"Kelly no" Mike said
"Yeah that a good idea Kelly then Kate would know what mike was like when he was little and the trouble he got into" Jane said grinning
"Oh I got a few stories to share to" Michelle said while grinning.
"Same here. Please Kate, I... we know it would make Mike happy having you around and it would be great if you can stay" Kayla said
"Kate" she turn to Mike
"the choice is yours" They look at each other for few minutes
"ok I'll stay" Mike grin then he pulled her in to his arms for a hug then he kiss her in front of every one which made them smile.
When they pulled apart the turn to every one who there. Alice and kids walk back in side to see mike and Kate kissing she walk over and wrap her arms around Paul Waist while smiling.
"How did it go" Alice asked
"good, they all know about her up bringing and Kate she stood up to Jo and left her speechless"
"Good on her. Jo never listen and now hopefully things will be different and Jo will except Kate"
"time will tell"
They watch as the women except for Jo talk to Kate with mike still got his arms around her waist. They all talk for the next hour then they sat around two large tables for lunch. Kate offer to help out which Alice said for her to sit down and to relax and that she a guest.
"Kate never argue with mum" Mike said
"I do want to help Mike" Mike kiss Kate forehead
"Kate my sisters are helping mum, so come on leave them to it"
"ok" mike lead Kate to the table and they sat down and talk to Paul and the husbands while the women took care of the food.
When the women walk out of the kitchen they were carrying big plates of food, they put them on the table while Paul and Mike open the bottles of wine and pour them into glasses. Then Paul said grace after every one held on to each other hands then they start helping them selves.
They all talk and laugh around the table. Kate didn't say much but she did listen to the others talk and notice how Jo been watching her the whole time. After main lunch. Kate help with the clean up and with the dishes then she cut up the cheese cakes while Alice, Kelly, Kayla and Jane help take other deserts and plates out to the table then they help Kate take the cheese cakes out and put them on the table before they all sat down once again and they all help them selves.
Every one enjoy there desert, including Paul who had three different slices of cheese cake which he love them. After deserts the dishes were taken care of then they all walk into the living room where they all sat down some where.
