CH 12
The next day Mike was release from the hospital. he went to stewart place where his things are. he got change into his uniform the left to go to NAVCOM to get temporary commendation sorted out, then he went to different realest estates to see what houses there are that up for sale. He spent the day doing that then returned back to Stewart place to cook dinner.
When Stewart returned home from work he was surprised to see Mike in the kitchen. "Mike when did you get out of the hospital?"
"This morning"
"That's great, so what's happening?" Mike tells Stewart every thing that happens while dishing up their dinner.
"Gee mate I had no idea that the navy would do that to you and Kate"
"Yeah, but at least I can look for a house here"
"Found many"
"Yeah, five of them" Mike showed Stewart the papers.
"Wow, how can you guys afford this? I mean one point five million for this house and three million for this house"
"Kate inherited the inheritance left by her father's side of the family" Stewart looked at Mike in shock.
"Are you telling me that Kate is a millionaire?"
"billionaire, one point one billion dollars"
"Bloody hell Mike and she's in the navy" He said in shock.
"Yes she received her inheritance when she was twenty one. she could leave the navy if she wanted to but she is happy with the job she loves"
"True, do the kids know?"
"no if they knew they would be asking for a lot of things. Kate wants the kids to earn their money instead of giving it to them"
"That's a great idea." They talk about the houses while having dinner.
The next day when Kate arrived home with the kids since she picked the boys up from a friend's place after picking the kids up from daycare. They all walked inside and could smell Chinese food and hear music playing.
"Mum, i can smell chinese food" Ryan said holding on to Emma.
"I can to Ryan" Kate put MJ onto the floor
"Stay here" she walks quietly towards the kitchen then stops.
"Mike," he turned around and smiled at her as she stepped ford to hug him
"surprise" they pull apart and kiss.
"Daddy" they turn and look down to see MJ smiling at them as he walk quickly as he could towards Mike
"MJ" Mike picks MJ up for a hug and kiss on the cheek just as Ryan and Duncan walk into the kitchen carrying the twins in their arms.
"Dad," they both said as they stepped forward to give him a hug.
"surprise"
"This is a surprise dad, are you home for good?" Duncan said. Mike looked at them , then to kate. their faces change
"Dad what is it"
"We will talk about it after dinner, ok"
"ok"
"Kate let me look after the twins and MJ while you three go and get change"
"ok" Ryan said. they pass the twins to Mike then walk out of the kitchen.
"Are you sure you can handle all three of them Mike"
"I'm sure" he gives her a kiss. Kate walks out of the kitchen leaving Mike with the younger kids.
When Ryan, Duncan and Kate return, all three kids are in their high chairs. MJ was feeding himself and Mike was feeding the twins. The boys talk about what they have been doing and how well they are doing in school. After dinner with the younger ones in bed sleeping. Mike and Kate sat Ryan and Duncan down in the living room. Mike explains to them about what is happening so they can understand. When he finished telling them, They were shocked.
"So we're here and you're in Cairns" Ryan said.
"Yes. But as soon as there is an opening, All of you will move to Cairns"
"Hopefully it will be soon," Duncan said.
"You never know Duncan," Kate said.
"So in the meantime Kate and I are going to need your help with input on something"
"What do you need our help with dad" Mike pulled behind a cushion number of sheets of paper and passed it to them as he said
"A house to buy in Cairns. Take a look" the boys look at each of the five homes and each of the photos of them.
"Wow, these houses are big dad," Duncan said.
"I know." Duncan and Ryan look at all of them
"Well, I like this one," Ryan said pointing to one pile on the coffee table.
"Ok what about you Duncan?" Kate asked.
"I agree, it is twice as big as this place, it has everything we all need. Swimming pool, spa pool, study which I know dad would use when he is on shore leave. Games room, Gym. plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms, large kitchen area with breakfast bar, living room, large dining room, outdoor entertainment area so it would be great to have barbeques and parties, plenty of space to play games also" Duncan said. Mike picks up the sheets of paper and he and Kate look at each of the photos.
"What do you think Kate?"
"Three car garage, i like what i see, what do you think mike"
"This is the first one I picked, ok so we are all in agreement"
"Yes," the boys said smiling. Mike turned to Kate.
"Kate"
"I agree but I think we can do one change"
"What is that?" mike asked.
"build a granny flat above the garage"
"Why a granny flat Kate"
"Well it would be great if we hire a nanny house cleaner. After all Mike it is a big house"
"That's true Kate, i agree" Kate leaned over and kissed him.
"Ok we will buy the house"
"Tomorrow I'll make the call" they kissed once more which became passionate.
"I'm out of here" Ryan said as he stood up
"Same here and if you two are going to make out, please do it in the bedroom.'' Duncan said as he and Ryan walked out of the living room talking about playing video games till bedtime.
Mike and Kate did go to bed ten minutes after the boys walked out of the living room. They made love for the first time in weeks with Kate being on top since Mike is still recovering. Kate saw the scars and kissed each of them before making love to Mike.
the next day while Kate was at work. Mike flew back to Cairns to talk to the agent and to get the paperwork filled out then return a few hours later with the papers since it needed Kate's signature as well. Mike did things around the house as well as some shopping while Kate was at work.
On weekends Mike and their kids went to a park, did some shopping and played games together before returning back home. When the day came Mike hugged the kids and he gave Kate a kiss before he left to head to the airport. The day before Mike had boxes of stuff move to Cairns so when he arrived at his temporary accommodation the boxes would be there.
The next day Hammersley left port with a new XO and boatswain. The crew welcome Mike back and he is happy to be back but he misses Kate and kids. Week Later Kate received a transfer letter. When she saw it was to Watson bay, she started making phone calls as well looking up rental places close to watson bay, high schools and day care centers.
She was lucky to find what she needed in the Bellevue Hill area. Once she finished making the calls which took three days. She let Ryan and Duncan know about the transfer and where they are moving to so they would understand.
Week later Kate and the kids walk into their new five bedroom, five bathroom house. they saw there boxes and furniture everywhere. "Well kids let's get started" They work for five hours then stop for dinner.
Kate ordered Pizza since that is what the boys wanted. "Ok Pizza will be here in half an hour. I'll go and get some groceries while you two look after the younger ones"
"Mum can we have coke cola with our Pizza?" Duncan asked. Kate smiled.
"how about ginger beer" they both grin
"Ok Ginger beer" Ryan said.
"ok i'll be back soon" Kate walked out of the house when there was a toot of the horn from a taxi.
Ryan and Duncan took MJ, Emma and Connor outside. Coonor and Emma start learning how to crawl. While MJ was running around looking at different things when they heard "Hello" Ryan and Duncan looked towards a voice to see a woman looking at them from the neighboring fence.
"Hello," Duncan said.
"I notice you and your mother are moving in there"
"Yes ma'am"
"I hope you boys don't cause any trouble" Ryan and Duncan look at each other then back to the woman.
"No ma'am, if we did, we would be in big trouble with our parents"
"Really, we shall see," she said in a high and mighty tone.
"Who are you ma'am you didn't introduce yourself"
"it doesn't matter who i am"
"Well it does to us ma'am if we are going to be neighbors"
"Where are your parents? I want to talk to them"
"Our dad up in Cairns and our mother gone to get some groceries"
"She left you kids alone, looking after you five, your mother should be ashamed of herself."
"well, she is not ma'am, in fact she trusts us, if she doesn't trust us then she would be here or we would be helping her shop. anyway you don't know us and we don't know you, come on Ryan, let's go inside and wait for mum"
"Yeah good idea, come on MJ" they pick the twins up and walk inside with MJ ahead of them yelling out "poo, poo"
"We better let mum know about what happened"
"good idea, do you know where MJ potty is"
"In the toilet," Ryan said.
When Kate arrived home and started getting the grocery bags out from the boot of the car with the taxi driver's help, the neighbor who was waiting for Kate walked outside when she saw the two older boys walk outside.
"Let us help you mum"
"Thanks Ryan, duncan"
"I hope you brought some diapers"
"Yes I did, why"
"Connor exploded his just before your return." Kate laughed.
"Ok well i'll give him and Emma a bath, have they had dinner"
"Yep and MJ"
"Thank you two been amazing help." They got bags in hand and Kate thanked the driver before following the boys inside.
Kate turned and smiled at the woman "Good evening ma'am"
"I want to talk to you about your sons" Kate stops and looks at the boys who stop as well, they look at Kate.
"We were out back with MJ, Connor and Emma when she started talking to us mum" Ryan said.
"Mum, she is a stuck up nose female dog and saying you should be ashamed of yourself for leaving us home alone and think that we are trouble makers"
"Really, is that so"
"Yep and we were polite the whole time"
"Ok here take these inside i'll be there soon"
"ok mum" Kate passed the bags to the boys and they went inside when the neighbor and Kate heard what the boys said.
"that woman doesn't know who she's messing with," Ryan said.
"Yeah, only if she knows," Kate turned and walked to the edge of her fence.
"you wanted to talk to me ma'am"
"Yes about your sons and how you left your kids alone while you go shopping"
"I trust my kids and my older boys are old enough to take responsibility"
"That's what all parents say and your ex husband, they said he was in cairns"
"husband, not ex husband, get your fax straight ma'am" then a man walked outside after hearing what was being said,
"Karen don't you talk to our new neighbors like that, sorry about that, i'm James"
"Kate Flynn, it nice to meet you sir"
"Sir, what are you in the navy or something?" James said.
"In fact I am, Lieutenant Kate Flynn"
"Well it is an honor to meet you Kate, where is your husband"
"He is stationed up in Cairns on one of the patrol boats and I'm waiting for a posting up there"
"So you've been posted here"
"Yes Watson bay as one of the instructors. Both my husband and I were stationed in Perth."
"that must be hard for you both being apart"
"It is but when we are together we cherish every moment we can as a family"
"That's good to know. Welcome to the neighborhood for how long you going to be here for"
"thank you James, one day when Mike is here i'll introduce him to you. As for how long I'll stay here for, i don't know"
"that would be great" then a car showed up and a guy got out wearing a pizza hutt uniform.
"Dinner has arrived, i better go, it's nice to meet you James…. Karen"
"You to Kate" Kate turns around and walks over to the guy who passed Kate the four boxes and she pays him and thanks him before turning around and walking inside.
"come on Karen"
"I don't believe she is navy" she turns and stomps back inside. James shook his head at his wife as he followed her inside.
It took a couple of days to get the house sorted and the cupboards full of food. The morning Kate took Ryan and Duncan to their new school then she took the other three to daycare She was wearing her uniform. The boys including MJ wave to James just as they were getting into a taxi van.
Once everything is done there she goes and buys a minivan then heads to Watson bay where she gets all the papers, and books she needed to read and study for the next few days till she starts teaching.
