Ch 56 Trade Evolution
Chargestone Cave
N walks down the electrified blue cave walls of Chargestone Cave, he smiles at the small yellow Spider-like Pokemon sitting right on his shoulder. "Joltik, Joltik," The Electric/Bug-type Pokemon joyfully cried as he gained energy from the walls around them.
"Are you getting enough energy, Joltik?" The green-haired trainer asked his friend, sitting on his shoulders.
"Joltik!" The Attaching Pokemon happily answered the only Human he trusted.
N smiles, hearing his friend gets the nutrients he needs from the electricity around them. "I'm glad to hear that, my friend." He chuckles, stopping at a good place to rest his feet.
The green-haired trainer gently to the Attaching Pokemon from his shoulders and placed him on a floating charged rock. "There, this rock should be enough for your fill," N said as his friend climbs on the floating rock.
"Joltik," Joltik smiles, absorbing the electricity from the rock he was on.
N sat down on the boulder next to Joltik's rock. He took a breather after navigating the Cave to the next City. "Take your time, Joltik. There's no rush in eating," He said to his Friend, still absorbing the electricity.
Suddenly two people's voices echoed in the dimly lit Cave. N quickly got up, hearing the voices from the other chamber of the Cave. He gently pushes Joltik's rock to the Cave's wall, hiding from the trainers coming from the other chamber.
"Professor Juniper, this place is amazing! There are a lot of Electric-type Pokemon here," A cheery young girl spoke, her voice bouncing off the walls. "I wonder why's that,"
"It's quite simple, Bianca. Chargestone Cave is known for its rocks being electrified." Professor Juniper informed the young trainer next to her. "We're not sure how it got like it, but the Pokemon who made their home here feed off the energy to restore themselves."
N watches from the shadows as the brunette Professor and the blonde trainer made their way past him and Joltik. "Wow, so the Pokemon learn to use the electricity around them as a food source? Helena would love to see this; do you think she'll be coming?" Bianca asked the Regional Professor.
Professor Juniper chuckles at the young blonde trainer next to her. "Hilda just called me a while ago, she said that Helena and Adam were on their way to Chargestone Cave." The brunette Professor informed Binaca. "I wouldn't be surprised if they were already inside the Cave already." She jokes,
"Anyways, the team should be at the base camp. We better get there before they begin to get worried." Professor Juniper said to which Bianca agrees.
The green-haired trainer slowly came out of the shadows, watching the Professor and the blonde trainer heading to their base camp.
"Helena's coming over with Hilda?" N said to himself, not sure why the black-haired girl was going with the girl who also has the same ideals as her. He grabs hold of his head, having the same headache he's been feeling for a while.
Two people stood before him, a woman with red hair and emerald eyes. The other was a man with hair in a mess with amber eyes. In their arms was the same infant in a pink blanket, her eyes the same color as the red-haired woman,
N gasped, confused by the headaches he was getting. "I better see Concordia and Anthea if they can do something with these headaches of mine-"
"Lord N," The green-haired trainer looks behind him, seeing three figures in black clothing and white hair. "Lord Ghetsis has sent you a message,"
"What does the message say?" N asked the Shadow Triad, elite spies within Team Plasma formed by his Foster Father.
The Leader of the Triad wore the same uniform as the other two, however, he has longer hair on the side and looks up. "Lord Ghetsis requests you to bring the girl with eyes of Emeralds to Team Plasma's side." He informed the young King of Team Plasma. "Lord Rood is here upon receiving orders to evaluate the girl before you meet her."
N's eyes widen at what his Foster Father has requested of him. "What?"
"Yes, that girl who was with Professor Ceder and Juniper in Castelia City has Lord Ghetsis intrigued." The Shadow Triad informed his Lord. "As such, he has deemed it necessary to question that girl and possibly get her to join Team Plasma."
The green-haired trainer ponders the message that his Foster Father. Sure he wants every trainer to release their Pokemon to truly be equal, however, he doesn't want to force them, especially with Helena. For some reason, he doesn't want Helena to be involved with this.
He closes his eyes before answering the Shadow Triad. "Why Helena Potter?" N asked, knowing what the possible answer could be.
"Lord Ghetsis believes Helena Potter to have the same Ability as you, my Lord." The Shadow Triad informed his King. "It's only natural to have Ability Users on Team Plasma to further achieve our goals."
N thought hard about this situation, then he got an idea. He looks at the Triad, "I shall convince Helena to join Team Plasma. However, I want to do it when there's no Sage or Grunts around." He stated, not ready to tell her that he is the King of Team Plasma.
The leader of the Shadow Triad inclined his head to their King, accepting his decision. "Very well, Lord N. We shall tell Lord Ghetsis of your decision." He said to the green-haired trainer.
When the Shadow Triad disappeared before him, N frowns at the situation the young Researcher found herself in. He couldn't help but think of her reaction when she founds out who he is. "No, I'll tell her when I'm ready." N paused for a moment, wondering why he doesn't want her to know he was King.
Helena and Adam stood before an entrance of Chargestone Cave after treading through Route Six. The Rotom Phones they have in their pockets were reacting to the Magnetic field the Cave was generating.
"Our Rotom Phones seem to be very excited," Helena took out her pink Rotom Phone, seeing it making some strange facial expressions.
"It must be the fact that Rotom could sense the Electromagnetic field that the Cave must be generating." Adam looks at his Apprentice, raising his finger in the air. "Do you remember what I said about this Cave, Helena?"
Helena nodded, remembering his lesson about Chargestone Cave. "Yes, Professor. The Cave is home to many Electric-type Pokemon with the occasional Steel-types living off the Electricity the Cave generates." She retold what Professor Ceder has told her back in Driftveil City.
The blue and blonde-haired Professor nodded, seeing the young student of his was listening to his lesson. "Exactly, and it's pretty common to find Thunder Stones here as well." Adam further gave details on Chargestone Cave.
"Oh, that green Evolution Stone with a thunderbolt that helps certain types of Electric-type Pokemon to Evolve, right?" Helena asked her Mentor next to her.
"Yes, seems like you remember Evolution from the classes back in Trainer School." Adam smiles at Helena.
The Ability User smiles brightly, happy to receive a compliment from her Mentor. Her eyes loomed over to the entrance of the Cave, curious if they were going in or not. "Professor, are we waiting for someone?" She asked him.
Adam's eyes gaze upwards, scratching the back of his head. "We're actually waiting for Hilda to be here." The Professor explains to his Student.
"Why?" Helena asked, not sure why they were waiting for the young trainer.
"She knows the way to Aurea's Base Camp within Chargestone Cave. The Electromagnetic Field within the Cave interferes with reception. Aurea sent a message to Hilda with the directions to the Camp." Adam explains to his Assistant/Apprentice.
Helena nodded but was also concerned that it'd take Hilda a while to get to Chargestone Cave. "Isn't Hilda Challenging the Driftveil Gym right now?" The black-haired girl asked her Mentor.
Adam nodded in response to Helena's question. "She is but she said that she prepared for the Gym Battle, if you ask me, she's capable of defeating Clay." The blue and blonde-haired Professor smiles, having a sense of these types of trainers.
"Ah, alright-"
"Sorry, I'm late!" The two turn around, seeing Hilda running towards them.
Helena smiles, seeing Hilda stopping in front of them. "You're fine, so did you win yourself a Gym Badge Hilda?" The young Researcher asked her friend.
Hilda smirks as she took out her Badge Case, showing her acquired Quake Badge she won from defeating Clay. "My Fifth Gym Badge I have so far, just three more to go!" She announced, feeling proud of herself,
Helena was impressed by the collection of Gym Badges that the brunette trainer has in her case. "Wow, it's completely different from the Gym Badges we have in Hoenn." She commented.
Adam took a look at Hilda's Gym Badges, also very impressed by the amount she has. Especially the one next to a triple diamond of red, blue, and green. "You got yourself a Basic Badge, very impressive Hilda. Lenora is one tough Gym Leader with her Watchhog of hers." He smiles,
"I know, but my Tepig was able to Evolve during that time to Pignite." Hilda cheerfully said before moving on to the reason they were there. "Anyways, you two let's head to Professor Juniper's Base Camp, right?" She took out her Rotom Phone, revealing directions to the Camp. "She sent me directions,"
The two smiled at the young trainer as they entered Chargestone Cave and headed to the Base Camp.
The three proceeded inside the Electrified Cave, seeing the wonders it has to offer. Helena was in awe of the Stones floating at every corner.
Helena held her hands to her knees, looking at a Stone floating over a rock next to her. "It's amazing, the Stones are literally floating right before my eyes!" She said, expressing her wonder about the Cave. "The Magnetic field that Chargestone Cave is generating must be very powerful." She commented.
"I'm glad that you were taking mental notes on my lesson about Chargestone Cave." Adam chuckles, looking at Helena observing the Chargestones. "Make sure not to get to distracted. Chargestone Cave is not also a Cave with electric stones, but it's also a large maze; you can easily get lost."
"I know Professor," Helena got up from the ground, quickly catching up with her Mentor and friend. Speaking of friends, she looks at Hilda smiling at their little conversation. "Hilda, how long until we get to the Base Camp?" She asked the brunette.
"Just two more turns and we'll be at an opening in the middle of the Cave," Hilda explains as they continue their way through the cave,
While they were heading for the Base Camp, they did a bit of exploring of the Cave. They encountered a few Pokemon living in the Cave, mainly the Joltik Line, Kling Line, and the Tynamo Line, soon the group made a right to the next corner.
Helenna smiles, taking out her Rotom Phone and taking some photos of the inhabitants of Chargestone Cave. "So many Pokemon who depend on the Electricity the Cave produces. It's amazing to see," She commented.
"I get what you mean, Helena," Hilda said, leading the two through the Cave, "There are so many Pokemon living life here and with people too. Too bad Team Plasma can't see that too," She said with sorrow about what was going on around the Unova Region.
The black-haired girl looks over to the young trainer, catching the tone of her statement. "Hilda,"
Hilda shook her head, wanting to change the subject from the situation around them. "A-Anyways, there's the end of the Cave-well, entrance to the opening." The brunette trainer points to the entrance of the opening.
The three walks towards the light, now entering a big opening with other entrances leading back to Chargestone Cave. It was a rocky opening, with no Chargestones around, however, there were large boulders spread out.
There was a small lake for any Pokemon residing in the Cave to come and drink. The three trainers walk forward, seeing a few tents set up near the said lake.
Researchers were taking rock samples from the area and taking them back to the tents.
Hilda steps forward, introducing Professor Juniper's Research Base Camp. "Professor Ceder, Helena, welcome to Professor Juniper's Researcher Camp!" She introduces the two to the Camp.
"So that's Professor Juniper's Base Camp," Helena commented, seeing this was like all Campsites except for the Research Equipment stationed in a few open tents. She looks over to her Mentor, curious about something, "Professor, back when you were on Mt Pyre did you have these types of Research Equipment?" She asked.
"Yes, I did, Helena. Though my team only had just one large Machinery, it serves as an energy measurement device on two special relics on the Mountain." Adam explains to her Apprentice. He then looks at Hilda, ready to meet with his Ex. "Hilda, if you don't mind can you show us the way?"
Hilda nodded, obliging to the blue and blonde-haired Professor. "Yes, Professor Ceder."
The brunette trainer walks towards the Base Camp, leading the two guests to it.
Exiting one of the tents, Professor Juniper walks out with Bianca beside her. "Professor Juniper, I'm really excited about this experiment. I know that my Shelmet is super excited about the experiment as well." Bianca smiles, holding onto her Pokeball in her hands.
"I know Bianca, I am too. And I have to thank you again for participating in the Battle." Professor Juniper smiles at the blonde trainer. "We've got a lot of data from the Pre-Evolution Stage of Shelmet and Karrablast." She smiles.
"I'm happy to be of assistance, Professor. It's too bad that Professor Ceder, Helena, and Hilda weren't here to see the Battle." Bianca commented, feeling bad for them for missing out on their Battle.
The brunette Professor looks behind her, seeing Hilda guiding Helena and Adam toward them. "Speak of the Devils and they shall appear," Professor Juniper waved her hand at the incoming people coming from the Caves.
"Oh! They're here!" Bianca flinched, seeing the three coming. "Hi you guys! We're glad you can make it!" She waved at the three.
Helena stood with Bianca and Hilda, catching up from the time in Castelia City.
Professor Ceder was talking to Professor Juniper and her team catching him up on the experiment they were doing.
The blonde trainer looks at Helena, happy to have her here. "Helena, it's been a while since we've met. Did you go and see the Petililies?" Bianca asked her friend.
"Yes I did, we did encounter some Team Plasma Grunts but we managed to evade them," Helena informed the two, to which both were surprised to hear.
"Really? Did you catch one, Helena?" Bianca asked, curious if she managed to catch a Petilili.
Helena smiles, showing her Pokeball to her two friends. "Yeah, Petilili followed me back to Nimbasa City. She wanted to come with me after spending time with her in Lostlorn Forest." She explains to her friend.
Bianca squeals at the cute moment that Helena and her newly acquired Pokemon. "AH! That's so nice to hear, Helena!" She grabs hold of her hands, jumping in glee. "To think you hit it off with Petilili right away. You really do have a special connection with Pokemon!"
Hilda chuckles, seeing her Childhood friend being excited for someone. "Bianca, you're making Helena uncomfortable." The brunette trainer stated looking at her blonde friend.
Bianca stops, looking at the Ability User. She quickly lets go of her hand and inclined her head repeatedly. "I'msorryi'msorryi'msorry!" She apologizes repeatedly to the black-haired girl.
"It's all right, Bianca. There's no need to apologize to me." Helena smiles, getting her excitement. "I get your excitement."
"You do?" Bianca asked, watching her nodding, that it was all right.
Helena smiles, "Yes,"
Bianca smiles at Helena for accepting her for who she is. "Helena…"
"Bianca," The girls look to the side, seeing Professor Juniper and Professor Ceder standing near the tents. "We're ready to proceed with the Experiment."
Bianca nodded, excitedly making her way to the Professors. "I'm ready Professor for the Trade Professor!" The blonde trainer smiles.
"Trade?" Helena questions,
Adam looks at his Apprentice, "Yes, Aurea and her team are researching the Trade Evolution between Shelmet and Karrablast." The blue and blonde-haired Professor explains. "You see when these two are trad-"
"Adam, why don't you let them find out themselves what will happen when you trade those Pokemon." Professor Juniper smiles, turning around before looking at the girls behind them. "Come on girls, this is going to be exciting to witness."
Helena looks at Hilda, both following the Professor towards a tent.
Just as Helena was about to enter the tent, someone exited it. The man was awfully similar to Steven's hairstyle but has red hair instead However, his green eyes stare at her as his mouth begins to open.
"(Team Plasma's leader isn't one to trifle with. Show N the truth about Pokemon and People with that girl in the hat.)" The black-haired girl paused, turning to face the young Researcher who walked passed her.
Helena tries to search for the man, but like the wind was gone. "Strange, who was that man? Why does he look like Steven?" She asked herself before hearing her name being called.
"Helena? What are you doing out here?" Hilda asked her friend, poking her head from inside the tent. "Professor Juniper and Bianca are about to trade their Pokemon," She informed the black-haired girl.
"Oh, coming!" Helena quickly went into the tent, letting Hilda back inside.
Inside the tent, there was a large Machine. The Machine has ports on both sides of the blank screen, indicating it'll show the trade.
Professor Juniper saw Helena and Hilda coming inside. "Well, everyone's here. We can proceed!" She announced as everyone else was prepping for the data collection. The brunette Professor looks at Hilda and Helena, watching them about to perform the experiment. "Helena, Hilda, tell me. What is a Trade Evolution?" She asked the girls.
"Isn't it when a Pokemon gets traded, they Evolve?" Hilda asked, hearing about it during her Schooling.
"I think I heard of it back in the Trainer School," Helena commented, looking at the Trade Machine behind both Professor and Bianca. "But why are we testing it out here?"
"Ah, that's because I want to see if the Electromagnetic Field that Chargestone Cave generates would affect the Evolution of Karrablast and Shelmet's Evolution." Professor Juniper explains to the girls. "Many Escavaliers and Accelgors came out of Chargestone Cave after coming in when they were Shelmets and Karrablast."
Hilda and Helena were intrigued by these Trade Evolutions somehow becoming their Evolved forms. "How is that possible, Professor?" Helena asked, curious how that happened.
"That's what we're here to find out." Professor Juniper steps forward to her side of the Trade Machine. "Bianca, if you would." She looks over to the blonde trainer.
Bianca flinched, almost dropping her Pokeball. "Of course, Professor!" She rushed over to the other end of the Trade Machine. She looks at Shelmet's Pokeball, smiling at him. "Shelmet, Professor Juniper will take care of you from now on."
The blonde trainer looks at Professor Juniper, ready to part ways with her Pokemon. "Okay, Professor. I'm ready," Bianca said with confidence.
"All right, Professor Ceder the Chargestones please?" Aurea looks over at her Ex-Boyfriend, coming over with a few Chargestones mined from the Caves.
"Ready with the Chargestones, Professor Juniper." Adam carefully placed the rocks into where the battery was. Once he placed the Chargestones, the Machine turned on immediately. "We're ready!" He smiles.
Helena smiles, watching as the brunette Professor placed her Karrablast's Pokemon on her side of the Machine. "This is exciting," She smiles,
"I know," The brunette trainer smiles, "I am excited too," Hilda commented.
Professor Juniper approached the screen, pressing some keys on the Trade Machine. "Initiating Trade Machine," The Professor smiles, activating the Machine.
The Machine lowers tubes above the two Pokeballs, releasing light as it sucks them inside. On the screen were the Pokeballs with the silhouettes of Karrablast and Shelmet.
"Almost done," Professor Juniper smiles, seeing the Trading process is almost complete.
"This is too exciting!" Bianca squealed, excited about what was going to happen next.
Just when the Trading Machine was done…
"You're coming with us."
Helena gasps, seeing three figures with white hair appear around her.
"WHAT THE-" Professor Juniper turned around swiftly, hearing their voices.
"HELENA, GET AWAY FROM THERE!" Adam stood up quickly, trying to get to his Apprentice.
The white-haired man grabs hold of Helena, surrounding her to prevent the others from getting her. "Lord Bronius wants to speak to this girl," He states coldly, "If you are determined to find her, search Chargestone Cave for her."
"Wait, w-"
In a flash Helena and the three Men vanished, leaving a stunned group alone in the tent.
Hilda looks at everyone, still comprehending what just occurred. "W-What just happened?" She asked everyone around her.
"I-I think Team Plasma took her…" Bianca said, still in a daze from what happened.
Adam looks at Aurea, seeing there was one thing to do. "We gotta go find Helena, quickly." He said, a bit scarred for his Apprentice's safety.
"Agreed, let's go, everyone!" Professor Juniper quickly acted, preparing things for the search for Helena.
