CH 16
The next day Kate said goodbye to the kids since she was flying to Perth. "We're going to miss you mum" Ryan said.
"I'm going to miss you all too. i love you all so much" she hugged them once more before getting into the taxi. "You kids be good for Stewart"
"We will mum.'' Duncan said. They wave to Kate just as the taxi drives away to the airport.
"Come on kids, let's go inside" Stewart said once the taxi was gone.
After Kate settled into the officers accommodations she sorted out her bags and went to do some shopping. The next day she walked up to HMAS Newcastle. Once settle into her cabin as well as met the captain and his XO she learned what her responsibilities are. Hours later the frigate left port to do its patrol.
Over the next six months have been hard on the Flynn family. Kate couldn't make it to the kids birthday but Mike was lucky that Hammersley was in port for a few days and Mike seeing Steve saying
"Steve, get me another XO from the list"
"Not another one Mike, what's the reason?" Mike passes him a file in which he opens it and reads what it says.
"Ok I'll see what I can do"
"thanks Steve"
"Now the patrol" they talked for ten minutes before Mike left to go home and see his kids.
He misses Kate. he managed to spend six nights in the past six months with her when she flew to Cairns to surprise him and their kids since she was staying for the night or two. Plus she and Mike got to see Emma and Connor learning how to walk and being potty trained.
Plus MJ learns how to swim by holding onto a floating board and kicking his legs while smiling. When Mike arrived home he was greeted by MJ, Connor and Emma running towards him with smiles on their faces and seeing Stewart walk out behind them.
"Daddy," MJ said grinning.
Mike crouched down and gave his kids a hug. "I miss you three, have you been good?" they all nodded.
"Yes they have been great Mike, welcome home" Mike stood up and shook Stewart's hand.
"thanks Mate, so no problems with them"
"Nope, Ryan and Duncan have been a great help"
"That's great, let's go inside shall we" Mike said to the kids. he picks up his briefcase and sea bag then follows them into the house while talking to Stewart.
Two days later when Newcastle docked after being out at sea for two months and crew got five days shore leave when Kate was page to the captain's office. When she arrived at his office and was inside. "Sir, you ask for me"
"Yes, lieutenant, this came from fleet command. You have been transferred to HMAS Cairns" Kate looked at the captain in shocked
"Cairns sir"
"Yes, you are going to be transferred to a patrol boat" He passed her the email. Kate looked at it
"Oh no" she said in shocked
"Is there a problem lieutenant, you know you got to service on a patrol boat sooner or later, plus it was a good experience for you"
"I know that sir but the patrol boat that I'm going to be serving on"
"What about it do you know someone on that boat"
"Yes sir… my husband lieutenant commander Mike flynn"
"I see that is a problem. but it seems that fleet command wants you there"
"Yes sir, i'll go and pack my bags sir"
"Good luck for your future lieutenant. You one great lieutenants I have the privilege to work with, you will go far in the navy"
"Thank you sir" Kate returned back to her cabin and packed up all her things then she walked off the ship one last time.
She returned to her officers accommodation flats where she packed all her things up and left after dropping the keys off to the manger since she let him know about the sudden transfer, in which he understood and would have the papers ready for her to sign when she finished packing.
Few hours later Kate walked inside since no one was at home. She manages to carry her bags up stairs and in the master bedroom where she unpack everything. then she went to check on the boys' rooms to see if they keep them and the bathroom clean and tidy or not.
Then she walked down stairs and into the kitchen to make herself a drink when she heard a car pull up and into the garage. She walked outside and smiled when she saw it was Mike and he was in uniform. Kate had an idea so she quickly walked up and into the bedroom and she went and got herself ready.
when Mike walked up stairs after putting his briefcase in the study. he was tied after spending hours doing paperwork and reports after what the last XO did which caused a nightmare not only for him but for some of the crew as well. Plus he learns from Steve before returning home that Fleet command has taken over and sends a new XO to him when they leave for the next patrol.
When he opens the bedroom door and walks in closing it behind him he walks over to the walk-in closet removing his uniform. When done he was getting a pair of shorts from the draw when he heard.
"You are not going to be needing them sailor" Mike stopped and turned around
"Kate," he said in shock when he saw her sitting up in bed with just a sheet around her.
"Put them back sailor then come here" Mike put his shorts on top of the draws then walked towards the bed just wearing his briefs.
he started to sit down "Oh no, lose the briefs" she said smiling as she lay down and flicked the sheet back. Mike smiled as he removed his briefs then he laid down on top of Kate and kissed her.
"I miss you Kate"
"I miss you Mike" they kissed and made passionate love.
Afterwards Kate was looking down at him. "Kate i love your surprise being here. What's going on. I saw your suitcases and sea bag?"
"I'm finally home"
"what you mean"
"I've been transferred here" mike smile
"That is wonderful news Kate" he pulled her down for a kiss. "Kate this is what you wanted right"
"Yes it is but" she rolled off him then moved till she was leaning against the pillows
"But what Kate?" he sat up and turned to her.
"mike fleet command posted me on Hammersley, i'm the new XO"
"What they can't?" He said in shock.
"they know that i'm your wife, they had no other choice. Plus it for six months till the decommission of Hammersley"
"then what"
"Hopefully a shore posting will come up then"
"six months"
"Yes and I had a lot of time to think while flying here"
"what that"
"that when i take the shore posting i can be called in for a patrol or two if another lieutenant is not found. plus during the six months when we have a few days shore leave and at the weekend we can give Stewart a break from the kids"
"that's a great idea Kate" Kate moved till she was close to him
"Are you sure you can handle me for Six months. cause it is going to be hard to keep personal and professional appart"
"Only we can try Kate"
"There will have to be rules"
"Yeah, but for now, forget about the navy" Mike cupped her face then kissed her. They made love once more before falling asleep with Kate snuggling up to his side.
a couple hours later they both woke up and kissed. "I miss waking up next to you," Mike said.
"Same here Mike. What time is the time" Mike rolled on top of Kate and picked up her phone and looked at the time then put it back. then he moved to kiss her.
"Care to join me in the shower"
"Have we got time"
"yes we have"
"Why not?" he kissed her before getting up, then she got up and followed Mike into the bathroom.
When Ryan and Duncan walk inside they stop in shock when they see Mike kissing a woman's neck while his hands are under her top. "Dad how could you?" Ryan yelled.
Mike turned around as he removed his hands from where they were. "could i what"
"cheat on mum"
"Who said he was cheating?" Kate said as she turned around and smiled as she said. "surprise"
"mum" they both said and ran over to give her a hug
"I miss you," both boys said.
"I miss you two," Kate said smiling. when they pulled back
"sorry dad, i thought…"
"It's ok Ryan," Mike said.
"mum what are you doing here"
"I'm home. I've been transferred here"
"Really," the boys said.
"yep"
"Awesome" they hug her once more.
"now go and do what you normally do"
"Ok mum, it's great that you're home" Duncan said.
"Yes it is" Duncan and Ryan went to pick up their bags and walk towards the doors when Mike and Kate heard.
"Mom's hair was damp," Ryan said.
"so was dad, we know what they been doing in the shower"
"and the bed"
"That's two," Mike turned to Kate.
"those two are growing up too fast"
"tell me about it" then she returns back to what she was doing, then Mike returns to what he was doing to Kate before the boys walk in.
When Stewart arrives home with the young ones, Ryan and Duncan walk outside and into the garage to help him. "How was school?" Stewart asked as he got out of the van.
"Good, we got a shocking surprise when we got home" Duncan said as he picked up connor.
"I know mike is home"
"Not that, mum home" Ryan said.
"Kate here, that is a surprise"
"It was when we walked into the kitchen we saw dad kissing a woman's neck and his hands were under her top while she was trying to cook dinner. We thought dad was cheating on mum till they turn around" Ryan said picking up Emma from her car seat.
"I would be shocked also if it was me" Stewart picks up the four grocery bags and closes and locks the van then they walk towards the back door with MJ in front of them. MJ ran inside and into the games room where he stopped when he saw who was there smiling.
"mummy, daddy" He said smiling then ran over to them since they were sitting on the couch waiting for him. "Your home," He said, giving them a hug.
"Yes we are home, have you been a good boy?" Kate asked.
"Yes." he said, smiling.
Mike and Kate look up to see Ryan and Duncan put the twins onto the floor. They watch the twins walk towards Mike and Kate. When they were close. Mike and Kate pick them up and give them a hug and kiss just like what they did with MJ. then they talk to their younger kids while smiling at them.
When Stewart walks in he smiles as he could hear the laughter of the younger ones as they jump over Mike while he pretends to try to tickle them and Kate at the same time till MJ accidentally jumps onto Mike grone which causes him to screw his face up in pain.
"Mike oh no are you ok" Kate asked as Mike rolled onto his side as he curled up into a ball.
"I'm sorry daddy for hurting you" MJ said as he started to cry.
"Come here" Kate said. he ran over and into her arms. "It's ok MJ we know you didn't mean to hurt daddy like that."
"will he be ok"
"Yes he will be fine"
"It's ok MJ, you got bonney knees." Mike said as he slowly sat up close to Kate and MJ. Kate made MJ go to Mike.
Mike hugs MJ "it ok son, I'll be fine"
"Ok" then Connor and Emma try to jump onto Mike's back.
"Oh no I'm being attacked by the twins" Mike said as he tried to grab the twins while they were laughing as they tried to jump onto his back. Kate stood up and walked over to Stewart.
"Are you ok Stewart?"
"Yeah, it's great to see you Kate." They both hugged.
"You to Stewart, you did a great job with the kids"
"Yeah and kids are happy that your home"
"Same here, I've missed out on so much"
"It's hard being away for days, weeks at a time"
"Yeah it is, so tell me what has been happening since we last chatted" they walk out of the games room while they talk.
Later that night when Mike and Kate were in bed kissing Kate move down under the sheet. "Kate what are you doing?" Mike asked as he lifted up the sheet to see what Kate was doing.
"Just checking to see if everything is ok after what happened this afternoon"
"I'm fine Kate"
"I can see that," she said smiling as she looked at his hard length then back up to him.
"Are you coming up?" Kate moved till she was on her hands and knees over Mike. She kisses her way up till she kisses his lips as she lay down on his chest then he flips them over as they break the kiss.
"How are you feeling Kate"
"Happy and" she smiles as she moves her hand between them
"Oh I know what you want"
"I know what you want it to" they kiss passionately and make slow passionate love for the next two hours before falling asleep with Kate snuggling up to his side.
