CH 14
When Mike saw the car park he drove into the car park then then they got out and got there bags since it was night time when they arrived. They walk into the hotel and up to the reception desk where Mike spoke to the women behind the counter.
Once every thing was done. Mike walk out of the hotel and back to the rental SUV so he could put the docket on the dash board so it won't get towed away. Then he return back to the lobby to where Kate was waiting for him. He pick up there bags and walk to the elevator.
"Mike I ordered room service and some champagne for tonight"
"I was thinking the same thing" Kate grin
"Really"
"Yeah"
"Well dinner will be an hour away"
"Ok" When they walk into there room few minutes later they look around the room while mike put there bags on the chairs.
"wow nice room" Mike said
"Yes it is" Kate walk over to an open door and look in to see it was the bathroom.
She turn around and step ford to mike wrapping her arms around his neck as he wrap his arms around her waist
"like what you see Kate"
"i do Mike" then she kiss him.
"what shall we do tonight?" He asked
"After dinner"
"Yeah"
"I'm sure we can think of some thing" Mike smile
"I'm sure we can" they kiss once more.
"Want a drink" mike asked
"sure"
"I'll see what they got here"
Mike walk over to the beer fridge while Kate sat on the bed removing her shoes and putting them under the bed then she move till she was leaning against the head board.
"what a beer" mike asked
"what have they got"
"these" he pick up two bottle to show her
"that would be fine, no wine"
"No wine"
"that ok" Mike walk over to Kate twisting cap off then passing it to her
"thanks" then he walk around to his side of the bed removing his shoes and cap then he did what Kate did then he put the caps on the bed side draws.
"What shall we do tomorrow" mike ask before drinking his beer
"spend all day in bed with you" Kate said smiling
"all day"
"all day, day after that we can decided then"
"sounds like a plan to me"
they talk till there was a knock on the door, Mike got up to see who it was. It was room service. The guy wheel the two trolleys in. one was there dinner and the other was the champagne. Mike sigh the slip then the guy left. Kate got up from the bed when mike pour the champagne in two glasses then put it back in the ice bucket. Then he pick up the two flute glasses and pass one to Kate
"Happy anniversary Kate and many more to come"
"Happy anniversary mike" they click the glasses then took a sip of the drink.
Mike put his on the table then he removed the two covers and pit them a side. He smile when he saw what it was then look up to Kate
"Steak"
"Just the way you like it"
"I'm looking ford to it"
He pick up the two plates and put them on the table while Kate took care of the knifes and forks. Then they both sat down to eat. They talk while enjoying dinner and desert as well the champagne. After dinner Kate stood up and walk over to her suite case and open it up. She pick up some items and toilet bag then she walk into the bathroom closing the door.
Mike smile and knew what Kate is up to so he took care of the plates and glasses. Once that was done he over turn the bed and took his clothes off and waited for Kate.
When Kate open the door she walk out wearing the same sexy night wear she wore a year ago on there wedding night. Mike smile as she walk around to her side of the bed. Mike was confuse to what Kate was doing till she got on the bed with her hands and knees she slowly crawl her way towards him with out taking her eyes off him then she got in the same persist ion as she did when she had the photo taken while licking her lips. Mike remember the photo and relies what Kate was doing to him so he step closer to the bed just as Kate move till she was on her knees facing him.
"Kate I'm going to punish you for that little stunt"
"I'm looking ford to it" she wrap her arms around his neck and kiss him passionately. Mike move them both till they were lying on the bed when he broke the kiss
"Two weeks of punishment starting right now" then he kiss her back.
Kate manage to remove the white boxer shorts he was wearing and mike manage to remove Kate silk nightwear while slowly punishing her while making slow passionate love for the next three hours before Mike reach over and turn off the lamp lights then lean back over holding Kate in his arms as they slowly fell a sleep.
The next day Mike left a 'not to disturb' sign on the door after having there breakfast delivered. They spent the whole day in bed talking and making love like what Kate got plan.
The next few days they went sight seeing during the day and making love morning and night. Kate show mike which school she went to and other places including the restaurant where her father took her when she show him her report card.
Mike and Kate manage to get a table at the restaurant one night for dinner. Kate tells mike about what she remember when she and her parents went there for dinner and that her father was prod of her.
On Saturday Mike drove to an area that Kate ask him to go to. When they reach the area Mike pulled over to the side of the road
"Kate are you ok" Kate turn to mike
"Yes, this was the last place I visited before my mother took me to Australia. Dad was having these three houses build, they were almost finish" Mike put his hand in Kate and gave it a squeeze.
"a lot has change in twelve plus years Kate"
"i know that mike, drive down this road"
"Sure" Mike started up the wagon and drove where Kate wanted to go.
Fifteen minutes later they were driving in the country side for a few minutes.
"Slow down, the house on the left"
Mike slow down then stop out side a large three story house that got a large section in the front with trees and shrubs every where. There was a three meter talk brick and iron fence out front.
"Who own this place Kate"
"Dad... he build this place when he found out my mother was pregnant with me. The day they brought me home was the day they move in" Mike drove to the drive way and stop at the gates
"Mike what are you doing" Mike roll down the window and lean over and push a buzzer
"Yes what is your name and purpose of being here"
"mike and Kate Flynn, Ed McGregor is expecting us" then there was a buzz and they saw the gates open.
"go to the front door, I'll let Mr McGregor know your arrived"
"thank you" mike drove up along the drive way then stop out the front of the house.
He turn to Kate "I spoke to your dad this morning while you were in the shower, he looking ford to seeing you again" Kate took her seat belt off and lean over to kiss mike
"He told you where he live"
"Yes he did and now it my turn to see all those baby photos of you" mike said grinning making Kate laugh
"Revenge is it"
"Yes" they kiss once more before getting out of the wagon.
Mike walk around till he stood next to Kate. Then they walk up to double doors when one of them open and person appeared
"Kate, Mike"
"hi dad" Kate said giving him a hug then he shook mike Hand
"come on in" they walk in side and the door close.
"Dad why the security"
"Things change Kate you know what the world is like these days"
"True"
"so how is your honey moon so far"
"Great, I was showing Mike some places that I remember when I was younger"
"I thought you might"
they walk through number of doors till they walk out side back of the house where a servant place a tray on the table it was pot of tea and cups plus finger foods.
"Here sit down, tea"
"Yes please dad"
"thank you sir" Mike said.
Ed pour the drinks while Mike look at Kate as she look over the large back yard. Then he look at it as well seeing a spa pool, large swimming pool a guest cottage, trees, shrubs roses.
"Place change a lot dad"
"Twelve years Kate"
"I know" she turn to him.
"How grand ma and grand dad"
"they doing great, they hope that you and mike drop by to see them while your here"
"We will dad" Ed pass them there drinks before sitting down to talk to them.
Mike and Kate spent the whole day with Ed. He showed them around the large house including Kate bedroom which still remain the same since she left. Mike look around Kate pail pink bedroom that got dolls, desk, every thing a child needs.
Ed even brought out Kate photo album to show mike. The first photo was of Ed, Claire and Kate it was taken a day after Kate was born. Then there was photos of Kate growing up. Mike could see a cheerful happy little girl. He notice that in the last two years of the photos that Claire expressions change from happy to not happy and she wasn't in a lot of family photos.
"This was the last photo taken of Kate it was the day before Claire took her away" Ed said sadly.
"I could see Kate had a happy child hood"
"Yes she was a happy little girl." Ed said as he put his hand into Kate hand.
"i notice that in the last two years, Claire wasn't smiling much" Mike said
"I should of notice some thing wasn't right...When Kate was six years old Claire miscarriage, she was having twins. She hemorrhage cause of it... the doctors did all they could but they had no choice, they had to do a hysterectomy to save her life. After that she wasn't the same, she went into depression for a while then she wanted a divorce... when it went through, a week later she was gone and so was Kate"
"I'm here now dad"
"i know dear... Kate there some thing you didn't know... when the divorce went through so was court case of you. I received full custody of you the day before Claire took you"
"I know, grand ma and grand dad told me" Ed nodded.
That night when mike and Kate return back to there hotel room and was in bed. Mike held Kate in his arms soon as they were in bed.
"Are you ok Kate"
"I will be mike"
"Shock to find out about your parents divorce and child custody"
"I know" then she turn to mike
"Mike I hope I don't ended up like my mother"
"you won't Kate"
"how would you know mike"
"Cause I won't let that happen. I love you know matter what" Kate move to kiss mike
"i know you do mike, I love you to"
Kate snuggled up to Mike side listening to his heart beat as she close her eyes and fell into peaceful sleep. Mike held Kate in his arms, he watch her fall asleep then he fell asleep him self.
Over the next few days, they saw more of Liver Pool. They even went and visit both Kate grand parents who share number of stories about Kate from when she was little and even brought out the photo albums of Kate. Mike grin when he saw Kate in pick tails and wearing a pink hard hat at her father building site.
On Friday afternoon Kate took Mike to a pub that she remembered. When they were out side of it, Kate looking at it "Kate why are we here"
"i remember every Friday when the men from dad work finish for the day, they all came here to have a beer or two and relax. Some times dad brings me here if he working on Friday afternoon. The owner of the pub said no children aloud. I ask why. He said it a pub not a family pub. I look around the room and said to him if he change it to a family pub he would get more people going through his doors. He shook his head then he look at my father and ask him what he wanted, dad said he would have a pint and look at me and ask what I wanted I said lemonade please. Dad turn to the bar tender and said you heard her... the bar tender got the drinks then we went and join the crew for a drink. I was quiet but I listen to what they were all talking about. Some times I speak my mind which shock them, they for get that I was there" Kate said smiling
"did you get into trouble for it"
"No I was having an argument with this one guy... like our deep throat debate when we were on Darwin" Mike grin as he remember.
"i remember you never back down... you did it when you were little"
"Yes, I was six years old and never gave in, boy it sure was interesting we were arguing over soccer over who the best team and who going to win the cup"
"What happen to that guy"
"We became friends and when he see me on the site he smile and wave, which I did back in return and few times he buy packet of crisps... that chips and he shares his packet with me or nuts"
"Do you want to go in" mike asked
"Sure" they step ford with mike opening the door for Kate to go in first then he walk in behind her.
Kate look around the pub and turn to Mike "It hasn't change"
"Let's get a drink"
"sure" Mike follow Kate up to the bar
"Hello love what will it be" Bar maid asked
"White wine for me please"
"Beer please"
"what size"
"He will have half a pint"
"sure love" then she turn around to get there drinks.
Kate turn to mike "How big half a pint"
"Beer bottle size"
"Oh" Mike got his wallet out when the bar maid return with the drinks.
Mike handed over some money for the drinks. "Your not from here" She asked
"I was born here then move to Australia where I live and met and marry Mike my husband here" Kate said
"Really, so you come back for a visits showing your man around"
"honeymoon, it was Mike surprise"
"some surprise"
"Yes it is" Kate said when the bar maid pass the change back to mike.
"do you know the McGregor's" Mike asked
"Yeah I do. Every Friday all the crew from the McGregor building company show up for a drink or two. Some times there boss showed up to join them."
"Do you know the McGregor family" Kate asked
"I remember the daughter she was two years younger than me. She was cheeky kid at school she use stop fights, great in her sports, leader just like her father, a lot of friends but she was an honest little girl... it was sad that she and her mother disappeared. It broke her father heart. There was an award if any one could find his little girl. He almost work him self to death if it wasn't for his parents stepping in. that was about... ten twelve yeas ago since that happen. Why do you ask"
"I'm Kate McGregor, Ed McGregor long lost daughter" the bar maid look at Kate in shock
"bloody hell your joking"
"no I'm not"
"dose he know your here" Kate smile
"Yes he dose. In fact my husband parents was the ones who went looking for dad and they showed dad photos of me"
"Well I be dam so what do you do"
"We both in the navy" Mike said
"Australian navy"
"Yes, that how we first met" Kate said smiling
"And now your married and on your honeymoon"
"yes we are but we got married over a year ago. It the first time we able to get two plus weeks leave to have our honeymoon" Kate said.
"Why is that"
"I'm in Canberra doing officers training and mike in Darwin on a patrol boat"
"Oh, well I hope you both enjoying your selves so far"
"We have thanks" Kate said smiling.
"Excuse me" the bar maid said as she walk over to another customer.
"Let go and sit down" mike said
"good idea." Kate said.
They pick up there drinks and walk over to a table and sat down. "Mike behind you where the large table are" Mike turn to see the table and chairs then he turn back to Kate
"that where they normally sit"
"At least you got a good view from where your sitting" Kate smile then sat forward as she put her glass on the table
"i like the view I see now" Mike grin
"do you now"
"Yes I do"
They talk for five minutes when doors open and men walk into the pub and up to the bar to buy there drinks then walk over to the large tables and sat down around them. Kate look at one of the men,
Mike notice Kate looking at one guy "Kate" she turn to him
"I know him"
"you do" Kate stood up and walk to the bar standing next to the guy.
He turn to her "Hello"
"Hello Fred" He frond
"do I know you"
"when I was little" He look at Kate who smile at him
"Remember a little girl with pick tails, pink hard hat, we argue over who the best soccer team, you use to buy me crisps in this pub or nuts fifteen plus years ago" Fred thought about it.
Then he look at her in shock "Kate...Kate McGregor"
"Yes"
"Oh my god" he pulled her into his arms and hug her
"It is you" then he pull her back and look at her
"Your dad he was a mess when you and your mother disappeared"
"i know Fred. Dad and I have been in contact for over a year now, didn't he tell you"
"no but I do remember about eighteen months ago he showed up one morning in a very good mood, he didn't say a thing"
"That is when he found out about where I was"
"Really"
"Yes"
"so where did you go your English accent change"
"i live in Australia, that where mum took me"
"Australia, so what are you doing these days"
"I'm in the navy, at the moment doing officers training at ADFA in Canberra and I'm happy married" she raise her left hand
"Well congratulations, what dose your husband do" Kate turn to mike.
He stood up and walk over to them "Fred this is Mike my husband and as for what he does he XO or other word second in commander of a navy patrol boat"
"nice to meet you Mike" they shook hands
"you to Fred"
"you look after this little" then he laugh
"you not little any more Kate, this young lady"
"We look after each other"
"Kate dose your dad know about Mike here" Kate smile
"Dad walk me down the isle and gave me away" Kate said smiling
"Ah, I remember your father said that no lad was good for you Kate. But Mike I don't know how you did it or what you said that made Mr McGregor change his mind"
"it was talk from my father and the fact I'm in the navy and other things that I know Kate doesn't want to talk about made Ed relies I'm the right man for Kate and Kate happiness is important not only to her father but to me also"
"that is so true"
"Mike dad retied admiral in the navy so I think that has some thing to do with it" Kate said.
"could be Kate. So long as your happy that all that matters" Fred said
"Yes I am. So what about you."
"divorce, three kids"
"sorry to hear that"
Mike Kate and Fred talk for the next hour and a half before Fred left for home. Mike and Kate left to return back to the hotel since they got reservations at one of the restaurants for dinner and it was there last night since they were leaving the next morning to return back to Australia.
When they return back to Darwin, Kate stayed for two hours since she was catching a flight to Canberra since she start her third year at ADFA the next morning. HMAS Albany left for six week patrol four days later. The crew enjoyed there shore leave but was surprise to get a new CO. there old CO got promoted and has been transferred to a frigate.
Mike and Kate keep in contact through mail, phone calls and the odd weekend together when Albany was in port for a week or more. Kate work, train and study every change she got.
On her mornings or afternoons off she would be studying either in her room or the library. Mike family and her father keep in contact with Kate. They know how important her studies were and at times were worried that she not going out and having fun like the rest of the others are on weekends.
Mike and Kate saw each other eight times during the year. When they got weekend together they spend it the whole time in there hotel room not leaving it for the whole weekend.
At the end of the year Mike was lucky to be at the graduation ceremony since the crew got a week shore leave and he wanted to surprise Kate. Mike parents and her father showed up for the ceremony like other guests who was also invited.
When the awards and prizes names were read out. They smile when Kate won the top year midshipmen in the navy as well other top awards which made her family happy. After the service Mike walk up to her, they both saluted each other since mike was in his uniform then they hug and kiss then the rest of the family hug Kate telling them how prod they are. Two hours later they all sitting at a restaurant for dinner to celebrate the awards and prizes that Kate has won.
"Kate are you ok" Mike asked
"Tired, it been a busy couple of months with tests, exams, training. You know what it like Mike"
"i do and you know I worry about you"
"i know you do" Kate lean over and kiss him.
"Next year going to be worse" Mike said
"I know but once I'm finish and if pass all courses I'll be going to Watson bay to do a navigation course and surface warfare course or I might be posted on ship or shore posting. But we shall see what happens"
"Kate you will pass next year courses after all you won every award in the past three years" Mike said
"and who knows Kate you might even win the sward award. That one award which it hard to get and far as I know only two other women won it" Paul said
"I know but we shall see what happens next year"
They talk about other things for the next hour and a half before they left the restaurant. Mike took Kate to his hotel for the night since she was tired. Soon as Kate was in bed and her head was on the pillow she was sound asleep. Mike watch her for a few minutes before joining her in bed. He snuggled up to Kate back and went to sleep him self.
