CH 18
Their new orders are red reef. Week later when Hammersley return back to cairns, the crew got few days shore leave which they are looking ford to only to have it canceled the next day. they also notice new uniforms and that ET wasn't on board and didn't know where he was so Hammersley left port to attend the May day call without ET.
After attending the may day call, they headed to red reef after they learn that a dive boat over due for checking in. After noticing birds circling on the beach of Penfold island they headed there when they saw the EOD bodies. So the shore team went to check on them to see all seven of them had died.
When they returned back to Cairns the next day, they saw ET on the wharf, so Kate went to see him when he walked onto the ship. "ET where the hell have you been, didn't you get the shore leave cancel notice"
"I did X, I was just about to leave on a dive boat when I got the message so I was on my way home when I was in a car accident and my phone was damaged. I've been in the hospital for the past three days. I got out this morning. I did manage to get a message to NAVCOM when i was in hospital. I gather you didn't get the message"
"No we didn't. I'll check out what you say is true"
"It is X, I was trapped in the taxi, my leg was cut, I can show you the leg wound"
"Not here, have you been to NAVCOM"
"Yes, commander Marshall was busy but i did talk to lieutenant smith, he said he would tell him about what happened"
"Ok, so your on light duties then"
"Yeah"
"ET what happened to you?" spider asked. When he showed up
"I was in a car accident"
"Really glad you're ok"
"thanks"
"X, commander Marshall called, he was on his way down to talk to you and the captain about the missing dive boat and the seven bodies we found from penfold island"
"ok thanks spider"
"woo did you say penfold island, that is at red reef" ET said.
"Yes, why did you ask" Kate asked.
"spider you said seven divers, where they from robsons marines"
"Yes, how do you know this" Kate asked
"Oh man" ET said as he moved around putting his hands on his head then lowered them.
"ET what's wrong, do you know any of the divers?" Kate asked.
"Yeah i do X i was suppose to be on the dive with them that morning when i got the text message. If i went with them, i'll be dead like them" Spider and Kate was shocked
"Come with me ET, you can tell Mike everything you just told us because something is not right"
"What do you mean?" ET asked as they walked to the hatch.
"We were told that there are eight divers on board, we only found seven. you are the eighth diver. We are going to need everything you know about robsons marines, there boats everything"
"sure thing X"
When Steve arrived a few minutes later, Kate and Mike were waiting for him on the back of the boat. "Steve" Mike said as they shook hands.
"Sir have you spoken to Daryal" Kate asked
"No i've been busy, why"
"Steve something is going on with Robson marines"
"I thought you were told it was a pirate attack"
"It might not be. When the staff of Robson marines called they said that there were eight divers"
"Yes that's right, you found seven of them and one still missing"
"He is not missing"
"what do you mean"
"mike… ET is the eighth diver. he has been doing casual work for robson marines while on shore leave. The morning he was called in for a dive with seven other divers. But he received a text message before the boat left. He was on his way back home in a taxi when he was in a car accident. he was in hospital. When he left the hospital he went home then to NAVCOM where he spoke to Daral before coming down here when he noticed Hammersley coming into port"
"does he know about what happened to the other divers?"
"Yes he does, he can't explain what happened to them. He told me that there is always one person on the boat while the others dive. He can't explain how seven divers can go diving without leaving someone on the boat to keep an eye on the oxygen regulator."
"Let me talk to him"
"sure. but Mike ET said that the boat had passed inspection last week so nothing should have happened to it unless someone removed the bung and anchor and it sank somewhere in the red reef"
"Are you thinking it might be pirates"
"Pirates don't kill seven divers and sink a three hundred thousand dollar boat not to mention if any of the expensive equipment on board was taken"
"Let's talk to ET about this and let the feds know"
"good idea but if it murder question is who is the target and is the other divers cladral damage"
"Who knows Kate?" they walk to the hatch and talk some more. Mike, Kate, Steve and Swain were with ET when Mike asked ET questions and he was able to tell them everything that he knew. When finish talking to ET, he had to stay on board till Mike spoke to the feds.
Later that night when Mike walks into the kitchen he walks over to where Kate is who was at the stove cooking. he gives her a kiss. "How did it go with the feds"
"They got ET, they are putting him in a safe house till the investigation is complete since robson marines got a lot to answer for about the deaths of the divers and their missing boat"
"Good point, I hope we can find out what's going on Mike"
"Same here Kate"
The next morning Kate and Stewart were driving into town when Kate diverted to where Robson marines business is. She parks across the road to the business. "Kate why are we stopping here for"
"Navy matter Stewart"
"Is it to do with the death of the divers?" Kate turned to him
"how did you know"
"It was on the news last night"
"Oh, i didn't know"
"You and Mike think it's not an accident"
"Can't say" she turned to look at the shop once more then went to start the motor when she saw the owners of the shop walk outside talking to a staff member. Kate was shocked when she recognized him. She got her phone out of her bag and took photos.
"Kate what is it"
"I recognised the guy in the red shirt"
"Really"
"Yeah" she then called Mike
"Kate"
"Mike, I'm outside Robson marines. you are not going to believe who is working for them"
"Who"
"Cambell Fulton, i got photos of him with the Robsons"
"You're joking, why would he be working for them"
"Who knows Mike? I guess they don't know about what he did and the reason why he was fired."
"good point, bring your phone in so i can send the photos to the feds"
"I'm on my way, see you soon" she hung up and put her phone back in her bag.
"Isn't he the one who sexally assaulted one of the crew and put another in hospital?" Kate turned to him.
"I was at the pub, ET told me about what happened to him and Nav and how that guy lost his job"
"He told you"
"Yeah he said, he's pleased that the guy lost his job" they look at them one last time before leaving to head to NAVCOM.
When they arrive, they walk up and into the ball pen where Kate downloads the photos onto two pen drives and gives one to Mike and the other to the feds. Mike put the pen drive into the laptop and clicked onto the photos and showed it to the feds and Steve.
"Can you find out from ET if he knows that Fulton Cambell is working for the Robsons?" Mike said.
"Mike I don't think ET knows or otherwise he would have told us yesterday"
"Good point Kate, but I wonder if he knows that ET is working for the Robsons or not"
"Good question"
A Month later Kate walks into Comcen when RO page her. "RO you wanted to see me"
"Yes X it the corner report about the divers." He passed it to her. Kate read it
"accidental drowning. That can't be right" Kate said.
"that what it says"
"Strange how seven divers drown, if six went diving then the seventh one would be on the boat for safety measure. Not to mention that the dive boat is missing"
"That is a good point X, if it was murder, how are going to prove it"
"I don't know RO"
It took another two months to work out what was going on with Robson marines and what they been doing. Plus they came across a woman's body which was later identified as Mrs Llyord since there was a missing report on her and her husband three months ago about the time of the death of the seven divers.
Nav was about to get Cambell Fulton to admit what he did on the missing dive boat that killed the seven divers after the robsons wanted him dead after he killed the SAS soldier who was on look out on penfold island and the shore party who was there for the night cause of the outgoing tide when he attack Kate and spider. After the arrest of the Robsons and the ones they have hired,
Every one was please with the out come including one of the workers gave Swain, Kate and the captain information including the murder of the husband and where his body is buried plus the location of the LLoyd campsite in which Hammersley crew was about to find Frank Lloyd body and find the bag with there pass ports and other things including a memory chip from a camera which show photos of the seven divers smiling for the camera an hour before there death.
When Hammersley returned to port, some of the crew had been transferred to somewhere else. plus the crew got two weeks of shore leave. Kate and Mike were looking forward to seeing their kids plus it was the school holidays so Mike took a week off so he and Kate took their kids down to dream world for the week. The other week Mike took over as CO of NAVCOM while Steve was away doing a course.
They all enjoyed themselves including the kids. Kate took her new camera with her so she could take photos of her family having fun. Even Mike, Duncan and Ryan also took turns taking photos. And the staff offered to take family photos of the seven of them, which they were grateful for. When they returned back home to Cairns, they were tired but happy.
The day Hammersley was due to set sail, Kate was shocked when she saw Mike getting out of the car and getting his sea bag and briefcase. Kate walks up to him
"Mike what's going on"
"there is no replacement for CO Kate"
"Oh, so we got you for a patrol or two"
"till another captain is found"
"Ok"
"so everything on board"
"Yes including three new crew members. But we still don't have a boatswain"
"Steve trying to get one"
"Ok"
"Kate so while i'm getting change, you can take her out" he said smiling
"Yes sir" They walk onto Hammersley while talking about navy stuff.
Kate took Hammersley out and headed north for its patrol. the crew was away for a month. When they were due back to Cairns they were security detail for New Castle because the American ambassador was giving out medals for a number of sailors who work with the American over in the gulf. While that was happening. they were dealing with a may day.
After what happened on the boat and Kate was the last one to be found, she was unconscious when found. Mike was worried about Kate but pleased when the crew found her. Soon as Mike got the all clear, he headed to their location at the top of the green.
By then Kate regained consciousness and was in the ward room. When they return back to Cairns. Swain went with Kate in the ambulance to the hospital where he was concerned that she might have bruises or cracked ribs. Mike went to NAVCOM to meet the new CO since Steve has been transferred and doesn't know who it is till he walks into the ball pen and stops when he sees who it is.
Mike took a deep breath then walked into newly promoted commander Maxine white office. "Mike, it's great to see you" she said smiling.
"Maxine"
"how are you"
"I'm fine, here are reports about what happened to the white knight. Who ever it is took Caroline Taylor, killed the skipper and two others plus leaving a bomb on the boat. Who ever they are timed it so when my crew get on board and if they didn't find the bomb they would be here now"
"Mike why are you acting like this."
"Maxine, I'm here to talk about navy stuff not personal. I almost lost six crew members today. I want to get back out there and start searching for Caroline taylor"
"ok, if that's what you wanted" Maxine has three other officers in her office. They listen to the recording. After sorting out details they all walk out of Maxine's office, leaving Mike and Maxine alone.
"I got some good news for you, your new buffer will be leaving when you do"
"That's good, it has been hard to do boardings without one"
"That's true, plus I'm looking for a new captain and I hope to have one by the time you return from your patrol."
"that would be good, what about the new XO"
"What do you mean Mike"
"the lieutenant that is on Hammersley is on there temporarily till a replacement is found"
"I'll look into that also"
"thank you, i better head back to Hammersley"
"Why are you in a rush"
"There things that need to be done before we set sail plus the XO in hospital having xrays done. She was injured when the boat exploded and was tipped out of the HRIB"
"She, your XO is a woman" she said with a smirk. Mike stood up giving her an not happy look.
"You can rub that smirk off your face Maxine, I know what's going through your head. The XO happens to be Lieutenant Kate Flynn, my wife whom right now i'm worried about" he went to pick up a file when he knocked the photo frame over which caused it to flip till the photo was pointing upwards. Mike looks down to see a young two year old boy smiling.
Mike looks up to Maxine "your nephew" Maxine smiles at him
"no our son, Micheal Adam Flynn white"
"What did you say to our son"
"Yes he is, remembers that night three years ago"
"Maxine is not my son, we never sleep together"
"mike why are you denying your own son like that?"
"Cause Maxine" he said in an angry tone
"We never sleep together and if we did, there is no way that i'm the father"
"you are the father Mike"
"Maxine, I'm not his father, it is impossible for me to have any more kids, I've been sitral for over four years after boarding when I went wrong and my testical got infected which in results months later shows i'm unable to have any more kids. That's how I know I'm not Micheal's father but I got a fair idea who his father is.
"You can't have kids" maxine said in shocked
"That's right, the night you slept in the guest bedroom and you went and slept with a guy who was drunk and in the next room. You thought he was me, it was Stewart your ex husband who you slept with and by the looks of your son, he looks like Stewart.'' Maxine was shocked when Mike said this to her.
"no you're lying"
"Get a DNA test done, it will show that I'm not the father, Stewart is." Mike picked up the files and put them in his briefcase and picked it up and walked out the door leaving Maxine in shock as she picked up the photo of her son and looked at it.
