CH 19
When Mike returned to Hammersley, Swain and Kate arrived a few minutes after he did. "How did it go?" Mike asked.
"The doctors said bruising." Swain said
"You know what that means" mike said looking at Kate
"My own personal mausse" she said smiling making Swain and Mike smile
"light duties"
"Shame though"
"Very funny Kate, Swain i like a personal word with Kate, you can return back on board"
"Sure thing boss" Swain walks back onto the ship while Mike and Kate walk over to one spot.
"Mike, what's wrong"
"Maxine white is NAVCOM new CO"
"You're joking Mike," Kate said in shock.
"I'm not, that's not all Kate she has a two year old son"
"a son… oh my so Stewart is the father" When she worked out that it was three years ago when Maxine showed up at their house for the night.
"It looks like it, she named him Michael Adam Flynn white"
"What, what did you tell her?" Kate said in disbelief what Mike just told her.
"i told her that we never sleep together. If we did, there is no way I'm his father since I'm stiral, but I did tell her the guy she sleeps with at our place is Stewart. that shocked her"
"I bet it did"
"I did tell her that Micheal does look like Stewart and that a DNA test will confirm who the father is. Then I walk out of her office worrying about you Kate." Kate put her hand up to the side of his face.
"Now you know that I'm fine Mike"
"Yes I do, let's go and look for Caroline Taylor." kate smile
"Why not, you get change i'll take hammersley out"
"You know me all too well"
"True, but we will have to tell Stewart about Micheal"
"We can do that when we return"
"good idea" they turn when they hear loud music. It turned out to be their new buffer name Dutchy.
Hammersley was away for four days. when they return Mike went to see Maxine then he and kate went home to see there kids. Later that night Mike and Kate went to see Stewart who was in the granny flat.
"Mike, Kate come in, you said this afternoon you wanted to see me" they walked in and sat down on the couch.
"We do Stewart, remember about three years ago when you return back from a bachelor party and you sleep in the spare room" Stewart thought about it
"Yeah i remember waking up when i notice someone in bed with me, a woman, but i thought i was dreaming. why did you want me to remember that?" Mike looked at Stewart.
"Maxine showed up that night, she had too much to drink and sleep in the other guest bedroom."
"Maxine was here, why?"
"She tried to seduce me but her plan failed. but she thought it was me who was in the other guest bedroom so she slept with me, when it was you she slept with"
"Oh, why are you telling me this now"
"she got a two year old son" Kate said
"Who looks like you" Mike said. Stewart looked at Mike and Kate in shocked.
"my gosh i got a son"
"Micheal Adam Flynn white" Mike said.
"does she know"
"Yes, she knows that the night in question is that she sleeps with you, not me" Mike said.
"You will have to get a DNA test to have it confirmed," Kate said.
"Yeah I will, I'll also contact my lawyer about this"
"You do that," Mike said.
Twenty minutes later Mike and Kate walk up and into their bedroom talking about the chat they had with Stewart as they went to bed since kids would be up early in the morning. Few days later Hammersley left for it patrol. Mike and Kate were happy to spend time with their kids while Stewart went to see his lawyer and his son and DNA test.
The crew was busy with FFV and May day calls. When they return back to Cairns towing a boat, the crew talk about going to the pub for drinks and dinner. When Hammersley docked the crew left to enjoy their shore leave. Kate finishes up before she and Mike leave together to go to NAVCOM, then home where Ryan and Duncan would be home from school and knows that Stewart is not too far away with MJ, Connor and Emma.
When they walked inside, they went up stairs and into their bedroom where they got out of their uniforms and went to have a long hot shower together. When they walk into the kitchen, MJ, Connor and Emma are eating chopped up fruit and having a drink of apple juice that Stewart got for them.
"Mummy, daddy" MJ said when he turned around in his high chair smiling at them. They step forward to give their kids a kiss as well as talking to them. then they turn to Stewart
"Stewart how kids been"
"They have been great"
"That's good, how about you?"
"Good, I've had the DNA test done, ninety nine point eight percent. Micheal my son" he said smiling.
"That is great news, how did Maxine take the news?" mike asked.
"Shocked but she still says that your Micheal father"
"What are your next steps?" Kate asked.
"Well I've been to family court and I've met him. He is a bright kid"
"That's good, so he knows that you are his father"
"Yes he does, plus I've been granted to spend every Saturday with him so he can get to know me, then if all goes well, in a year it will be every weekend"
"that is great news" Kate said.
"Yeah it is, plus the family court knows that I work for you both, they see where I live and know about Ryan and Duncan and what has happened since it on their records. Plus they are going to keep a close watch on Maxine and Micheal since the courts know what she did to Ryan and Duncan years ago. They worried that history was going to repeat itself"
"We hope it doesn't happen to Micheal." Kate said.
"I hope not either" Mike said.
"Plus with the court's approval of the name change"
"What do you mean by name change"
"It got down that you Mike is Micheal father so since it has been proven that i'm michael father, the father name being changed on the birth certificate plus Micheal name change from Micheal Adam Flynn white to Micheal Adam White"
"that is good news" Mike said
"Yes it is… Mike, Kate you don't mind if I have Saturdays off?"
"Sure we don't mind. Ryan and Duncan are almost eighteen and it their final year at high school" Mike said.
"that true Mike"
Few months later it was Ryan and duncan birthday, Hammersley was out on patrol when it was the boys birthday and it was on a Saturday. Stewart went to pick Micheal up then return back home. He introduce Micheal to the kids. MJ, Connor and Emma play with Micheal while Duncan and Ryan help Stewart get everything set up for the party when Mike's family shows up.
"Stewart is that Micheal?" Mike's mother asked.
"Yes that my son"
"How are you coping with everything"
"I still can't believe that I'm a father, I'll still love Ryan and Duncan like they are my own sons"
"that good of you"
"Yeah, when I told them about Micheal they said that it is great that I got a son of my own but they will treat him like a little brother"
"Well you have done an amazing job in raising Mike and Kate kids"
"Thanks, Duncan and Ryan have been a great help"
"that they have. So how many are going to be at this party"
"All of their classmates are going to be here so we are looking at about one hundred and twenty plus seventeen, eighteen year old"
"That's a lot of kids, what have you done up for food?"
"Well there fruit punish, lemonade, coke cola, bundaberg ginger beer, passionfruit, creaming soda, peach, and three others drinks. As for food, there are chips and dips, lollies, nuts, and other snacks. As for lunch, there are barbeque sausages, meat patties, karbarbs, salads"
"Wow you sure have gone all out for them"
"Mike and Kate did ask them what they would like for their birthday, and that's what they wanted"
"Ok what about cakes" Stewart grin
"They are up at my flat"
"Good idea. it's a shame that Mike and Kate aren't here"
"True, they have been trying to get a shore posting but there is no one to take over Hammersley"
"Hopefully the navy will find someone soon"
"Same here"
When it was lunch time all of duncan and Ryan classmates where there enjoying themselves. Mike's dad and Stewart were manning the large barbeque while kids were eating snacks and having drinks while music was playing in the background. When the meat was cooked
"Ok everyone, meat cook come and get it" Stewart called out.
so the kids all line up picking up a plate and ask for what meat they want then walk over to where the salads are then they walk over to one of many tables where they sat down to eat. Mike's family took care of Connor, MJ, Emma and Micheal who are enjoying their lunch.
Everyone was enjoying lunch when Stewart saw who showed up. "Pat can you take over"
"Is everything?" Pat looked to where Stewart was looking at.
"what the hell is she doing here? Was she invited"
"no she wasn't." Stewart walks over to where Maxine is.
"What are you doing here Maxine"
"I came to wish my sons a happy birthday"
"Maxine they are not your sons and I suggest that you leave right now. You we never invited" Stewart said quietly
"If I don't"
"I'll call the police"
"Duncan who that women that talking to your dad" Duncan turn around
"Oh hell, what is she doing here?" He stood up and walked to another table.
"Ryan, look who showed up" Ryan turned to see Maxine.
he stood up "what that bitch doing here" Ryan said which shocked his classmates
"Let's go and tell her to leave," Duncan said.
They walk over to where Stewart and Maxine are. When Maxine saw the boys walk over to her and Stewart, "Ryan, duncan happy birthday" she said smiling at them
"What are you doing here?" Duncan said.
"We didn't invite you and you know we want nothing to do with you" Ryan said.
"I came to wish you a happy birthday and to give you boys these" she passes them an envelope each
"We want nothing from you, we want you to leave and keep out of our lives" Ryan said.
"I warned you Maxine, I told you to leave"
"They are my sons"
"We are not your sons," Ryan said yelling at her, causing everyone to stop talking and to look at them.
"We want you to leave, now get the hell out of here and don't ever come here ever again" Duncan said.
"don't you talk to me like that?" Maxine said in an angry tone.
"Why the hell not after what you try to do with our dad, you make us sick when you try to destroy our family" Duncan said
"Get the hell out of here" Ryan said.
"you better do what the boys said" they turn to the voice
