AN: Sorry for not posting the new chapter few days ago. I was at the hospital with my husband who just had a high risk hunia and skin removal operation. He made it through the operation and the surgeon said that the skin and large hunia (size of 2 basketballs) weigh in at 20kg. Now is going to take time for Peter to recover and learn how to straiten up as he walk since the large hunia cause him to bend over to use a walker to walk around for over two years and causing back and balance problems. He going to be in hospital for a while and i'll try to update in few days.
CH 15
The next morning Mike took Kate back to the academy since there was still things that needs to be done before it over for the year plus it will be the last time they see each other till next year since Mike got a month patrol over Christmas, new year plus he won't be home for there second wedding anniversary.
When school was over for the year Kate flew to Darwin to stay at mike apartment for a few days then she flew to England since she spending Christmas and new year with her father and grand parents. When Kate plane landed at liver pool air port and she follow the other passengers into the terminal she smile when her father was there to great her
"Dad"
"Kate" they hug.
"How was your flight"
"Lonely dad"
"miss mike"
"I do dad"
"come on lets go home" they put there arms around each other as they walk over to where Kate could get her bags then they walk towards the exit.
Ed wave to his driver "Dad"
"Yes Kate" he said looking at her
"Who did you wave to"
"My driver" then Kate turn to see a limo stop in front of them.
She turn to her smiling father "Dad"
"Why not" the driver got out and open the boot of the limo.
Kate pass him her bags to be put in while Ed open the door so Kate could get in first then he did. The driver close the door then he walk around and got into the driver seat then he drove Ed and Kate home
"wow dad you sure can be full of surprises"
"Yes I can be, Kate I've change your bedroom for you" Kate turn to him
"Dad"
"I hope you like what been done. Next time you come to visit I hope mike comes as well"
"I would like that dad"
"have you seen Paul and Alice new up graded house"
"Yes I did, I was shock when I saw the size of it and the kitchen, wow it a chef kitchen and Alice loves it she said it three times bigger and now there more room for the family to move around in compered before"
"I've seen it my self and they said that kids now got there own room when they visit and extra bedrooms for the grand kids"
"I know and the swimming pool and barbeque area out back, Alice said since the pool was put in, her and Paul been swimming every day since she said that they been putting on weight" Ed laugh
they talk till the limo stop out side the house. When they got out, Ed staff took care of Kate bags while they walk into the house and down to the living room where Kate grand parents are.
When Kate walk into the room she walk over to the four of them giving them a hug before sitting down close to them so she could talk to them letting them know what been happening.
When Kate was shown her bedroom she was shock to the changes that was done. Before it was pail pink now it an apricot color walls it still got the shelves with her dolls and other items on it. Before there was a single bed, now there a king size bed with dark timber head board and bed side draws. There peach, apricot duvet cover with a cream bottom edging.
She walk around the room and then into her old walk in closet. She notice it also change which made her smile. Then she check out the bathroom before it had shower over the bath, now it replace with a separate bath and a walk in shower, new toilet and hand basin.
After Kate look around the room she went and unpack her bags and took the Christmas gifts down to the living room where the Christmas tree is. Then she went looking through the house seeing different things for the rest of the day.
Over the next few days Kate spent it with her family catching up on different things. She even went to her father Christmas party for his workers and there families which he has it at a hall every year. Kate got to meet some of the workers, She smile when she saw Fred so she walk over to him since he was talking to some of the guys. Fred smile to Kate then have her a hug and kiss on the cheek
"This is a surprise" Fred said
"Dad didn't tell you"
"No but I'm use to it, where Mike?"
"On patrol till next year"
"shame"
"i know that the navy for you" Kate said smiling.
Fred interduce Kate to some of the workers who was there. Kate spoke to them for ten minutes before moving to another group of people.
On Christmas morning Kate cell phone rings so she reach over and pick it up and answer it
"Hello"
"Merry Christmas" Kate smile
"Mike"
"Yes it is" Kate smile
"Merry Christmas Mike, I miss you"
"i miss you to, how your family
"good, dad redecorated my old room"
"He did"
"Yeah I've taken photos of it so I can show you when I see you next year"
"I can't wait."
"mike where are you"
"We anchor of an island and signal is good so that is why I'm calling you now" Kate smile
"i see, have you called your parents"
"Yes" they talk for ten more minutes before hanging up.
Kate lay there in bed smiling before she got up and went to have a shower and gotten dress. Then she walk down to dining room where her grand parents and father is for breakfast.
She wish them a merry Christmas before she went and dish up her own breakfast then join her family. They talk about different things for the next hour before going into the living room where they open up there gifts. When they were all open Ed walk over to Kate passing her a box
"Dad another gift"
"it from mike. He gave it to me last month when we were in Canberra"
"I should of known" Kate remove the paper then she open the box
"wow" Kate pick up a bracket that got her name on it. She put it on her wrist and clamp the ends together then she look at it again and smile then she show her father and grand parents.
At lunch time they had other guests showing up for lunch as well dinner. Kate enjoyed her self talking to others who was there. That night she smile while looking at the bracelet before putting it on the bed side draws then she turn the lamp off before snuggling down under cover closing her eyes while thinking about mike as she slowly drift off to sleep.
After mike called Kate he return back to his cabin to put his phone away before he left to head to the bridge for his shift. He thought about Kate the whole day.
On new years eve Ed put on a party at his place. There was lot of guests showed up for it. Kate mingle among the guests saying hello to them even though she doesn't know them.
One guy walk over to her "Hello" he said partly drunk
"hi"
"I'm Ted"
"Kate" they shook hands
"Your not from around here"
"Use to be now I live in Australia now"
"Ah so how do you know Ed McGregor"
"Why dose you ask and how do you know him"
"I'm his nephew"
"Really" Kate raise her eye brows
"Yes last of the McGregor's, you see when he dies I get every thing"
"Why do you say that"
"Cause I'm all the family he got left be sides my grand parents and since he got no other family"
"what about your parents"
"Dad died with I was a year old, heart attack, mum she died five years ago, no other brothers and sisters"
"sorry to hear that, so what do you do"
"nothing but wait till the old guy dies then every thing will be mine" he said smiling
"i wouldn't count on that"
"Why not, his crazy wife left him taking that spoil brat of a daughter with her, to where who knows"
"Why did you say that about his daughter"
"Well he spoils her rotten, that what"
"And he never spoil you"
"no he wouldn't even help my mother when she ask for it"
"Perhaps there was a reason why"
"Yeah he rather spend it on his kid than any other family member, no wounder his wife left him" Kate keep her cool.
She knew about ted parents, her grand parents told her that her uncle died from a heart attack while at work. His wife received his life insurance money and spent it all on drugs and alcohol. Cause of what she was doing to her self it started to affect ted.
When Ted mum ran out of money she went to Ed for money, he refuse to give her a cent cause she would spend it on drugs and alcohol. Ted was taken off her number of time by the courts cause of the living conditions they were in and she hasn't clean up her act.
It was the final straw, Ted ended up in child ware fare services while his mother went into drug and alcohol rehab for two years. When she finish the program Ted was return back to her on condition that she has weekly blood tests done for five years. If there alcohol or drugs in her system she would lose her son.
She did clean up her act and got a job when Ted was fifteen years old but was short live when she became ill. She found out she contrasted aids from injecting her self with drugs since she was sharing needles with other people who also using. Ted was twenty two when his mother past away.
"any way you haven't said how you know the family"
"I'm the spoil brat your talking about" Kate said coldly to him
"what" he said in shock
"Yes I'm Kate McGregor, Ed long lost daughter"
"your joking"
"No I'm not and what I'm doing for a living I'm an officer in the royal Australian navy and unlike you, I'm happy married to a warm loving caring man who also an officer in the navy. If you will excuse me... cousin I'm going to get another dink. Oh another thing I know about your mother life style" Kate then turn and walk away leaving the guy standing there in shock. Kate got her self another drink when her grand mother walk over to her.
"Kate" Kate turn around and smile
"Grand ma"
"I saw you talking to ted"
"Yeah, he up set me with some things he said about our family"
"what did you say to him, I never seen him look shock before in his life"
"Well I told him his hopes were dash, in so many words"
"Kate what did you say to him"
"I said to him that I'm the spoil brat you been talking about"
"spoil brat" grand mother said in shock
"that what he said and I told him who I am and what I do for a living" Kate grand ma grin
"No wounder he was shock, I know he was hopping that there was no other family members for when your father past away"
"I know he after the money, no wounder he hasn't got a job grand ma. I'm please you told me about him"
"I'm please also, have you heard from Mike" Kate smile
"Yes this afternoon, he called he told me he misses me and wish he could be here... I wish he was here grand ma, I miss him"
"i know you do dear. But hopefully next year he will with with you to bring the new year in"
"i hope so to grand ma"
When it was almost midnight, Kate was in the conservatory looking out side, it was almost midnight when her cell phone rang so she got it out of her pocket of her skirt she was wearing to answer it
"Hello"
"Hey it me again" Kate smile
"Hey why are you calling me at this hour"
"night shift and I guest it almost midnight where you are"
"Yes it is"
"Where are you"
"in the conservatory"
"Are you alone"
"Yes I am, I needed to get away from the party for a bit, I was thinking about you"
"Same here" then they heard the count down and every one cheering
"Happy new year Mike"
"Happy new year Kate, I'll be looking ford to seeing you in two weeks" Kate smile
"I can't hardly wait Mike, cause I got plans for us when you return"
"oh care to tell me" Mike grin
"No you will have to wait"
"clue" Kate thought about it and smile
"Cream, lots of whip cream" Kate said in sexy tone
"Kate is strawberries involve"
"Yes, champagne and chocolates, the ones you like" Kate said in sexy tone.
She heard Mike groan "Kate"
"Yes mike do you need a cold shower" Kate said grinning
"Yes, with what you said, it reminds me of our honey moon with what you did with all that food" Kate giggle
"You enjoyed it also Mike and you didn't complain" mike grin
"Yes I know" They talk for a few more minutes before they hung up since the line was starting to go bad between them.
Kate smile as return back to the party. "Kate are you ok"
"I am dad, happy new year" they hug
"Happy new year, are you sure your ok"
"Yes I was in the conservatory"
"Your brought the new year in alone"
"I wasn't alone Mike called just before midnight" Ed smile
"that was good of him"
"Yes I was. I'm looking ford to seeing him when I return home"
"I bet you are" they hug
"Enjoy your evening Kate"
"i will dad" Ed kiss Kate check then he went to talk to couple of guests.
Kate went and got her self a drink and had a couple of nibbles. It was after two when Kate left the party to go to bed since it was along and busy day and night.
Kate stayed for another ten days before flying back to Australia. When she return she went to Darwin where she spending the rest of her time at Mike place. When she arrived at Mike apartment she went and did some shopping and went to see Jane and Brad for a day.
The day Mike arrived home Kate got every thing set up and waited. When she saw him walk into the apartment building she went and got her self ready.
When mike walk into his apartment he walk down and into his bedroom where he stop when he sat two portable tables set up on both sides of the bed, one got two champagne glasses and a wine bucket with a close bottle of champagne in it.
Plus there a bowl full of strawberries. He step ford to see another bowel full of strawberries, chocolate pieces, grapes, cherries and whip cream. Mike smile at what Kate done then he notice some thing with the bed so he step closer and run his hand over the sheets
"silk sheets" Mike said then he turn to the bathroom when he heard the shower started running.
Mike walk over putting his sea bag on a chair then he took his shoes off and put them under it. Then he walk to the bathroom door and push it open and walk in then stop when he saw Kate looking at him as she step ford wrapping her arms around his neck giving him a passionate kiss
"Welcome home Mike"
"it good to be home" they kiss once more
"I'll meet you in the shower" Kate said then she turn around and walk to the shower door and open it then walk in saying
"don't be to long" then she close the door.
Mike took his clothes off then he saw that Kate already got the towels set up so he close the bathroom door then step ford and open the shower door. He walk in closing the door behind him. Then he wrap his arms around Kate waist kissing her
"i miss you so much" mike said
"I miss you to, like my little welcome home surprise" mike smile
"Yes I did.. but silk sheets"
"Yes I brought them couple days ago, I thought it would be my Christmas gift to you"
"Kate I love it plus I never made love on silk sheets before"
"Well you will soon"
"i can't hardly wait" they kiss once more.
Kate wash Mike and he did in return and they made love while in the shower. Hour and half later they were in bed drinking the champagne and ate all the ford that Kate had set up and they spent the rest of the day in bed making passionate love.
Over the week Mike had off they spent the whole time spending it together since Kate flying to Canberra and mike leaving for his next patrol the next day.
When Kate arrived at the academy she over heard group of year four midshipmen talking about her. Saying negative thing about her and calling her princess perfect which upset her.
When Kate was in her room she got every thing sorted out then she called and talk to Alice the night before classes started. Alice listen to what Kate said and about the talk behind her back and how up setting it was for her. Alice and Kate talk for over half an hour before they hung up.
When Alice turn to her husband she shook her head "Alice what wrong with Kate"
"Some of the year four midshipmen were talking behind Kate back. She over heard some of them talking about her, calling her princess perfect, saying the only way for her to get all those rewards in the past three years was she sleep with the instructors. And there was other nasty comments as well. Paul it really up set her"
"i heard what your told her"
"i know I feel sorry for her going through all of this, those midshipmen shouldn't talk about others like that behind there backs" Alice said
"i agree all we can is be there for Kate when she calls till she able to talk to mike"
"i agree"
the next day Kate walk into class she notice all the other midshipmen looking at her, she walk to her desk and sat down and waited. Then there instructor walk in to the room.
The first week was hard on Kate, cause of the looks and whispers she was getting. So she wrote to Mike about what was happening and that she been talking to his mum about the problems.
When mike got Kate letter he read what it said and was shock with what was happening at the academy so when he got time and a signal he call his friend commander Steve Marshal about it then he reply back to Kate.
One day Steve went to the academy in his civilian clothing he wanted to talk to Kate in person with out letting others know who he is. When he walk into the accommodation block where the midshipmen were living he stop from a corner when he heard a group of midshipmen talking about Kate. From what he heard he wasn't impress so he walk around the corner and slowly walk pass them listening to what they were staying.
When he reach Kate room he knock on the door and waited. When the door open "sir" Kate said in shock
"Midshipmen, can we talk out side"
"Yes sir" Kate got her hat and key.
She walk out of her room closing the door and locking it then she and Steve walk the way Steve came from.
They heard the group talking "in coming" one of them said.
They turn when they saw Steve and Kate walking towards them and pass them. Steve notice the looks that they were giving Kate and Steve till they were around the corner. Steve put his hand on Kate arm when he stop. Kate stop and turn to him when they heard the group of midshipmen talking about them Kate turn and walk out side, Steve follow Kate till they were walking down a path.
"Did mike call you sir"
"yes he did, he told me about the letter you sent to him and I spoke to Alice, she, Paul and Mike are worried about you and what was happening here"
"From your expression sir your not happy"
"no I'm not what year are those midshipmen in"
"Same as me, year four sir"
"Is it just year four midshipmen or has it affected all"
"so far it only year four sir"
"Tell me every thing"
"sir"
"so I get get a better idea on what going on. The navy doesn't tolerate this sort of behavior if it junior sailors or officers"
"that true sir, but the point is if they find out that I spoke to mike who spoke to you they would think I'm weak that slightest little thing I go running to Mike. What sort of officer that would make me"
"that true but it will still leave the main problem if not you it would be another midshipmen" Kate thought about it and knew that Steve is right
"alright sir" they walk over and sat on a park bench.
Kate tells Steve what was happening so he get an idea of what was going on even though he already got an idea after what he had heard. When Kate finish telling him.
He look at her
"you did the right thing. Now I know what going on. Leave every thing with me and as for those midshipmen don't listen to there gossip you think about what your here to do. And from what I've heard your the only midshipmen who won the top midshipmen award every year and if you keep up all that great work like you have been you might win that sward award and if you do, you would make navy history" Kate smile
"thank you sir" They talk for a few more minutes before Steve left to return back to his car while Kate return back to her room to study.
