While Tails and Ruby worked on the dormant combat robot, they continued to share information about their worlds. In particular, Ruby asked questions about the Chaos Emeralds, how they were related to Chaos, if Tails ever used them, and if those gems could help her returning home.

Tails wanted to know more about Dust and Ruby's world in general. He was very impressed when she told him how she built Crescent Rose herself. Ruby stared in awe as Tails listed his machines and inventions. But that didn't mean that the two of them weren't concentrated on their current objective. Omega was a complex machine and with the usage of unknown elements, they couldn't allow themselves to let their focus slip. Despite the difficulty, or maybe because of it, tinkering with Omega was like Christmas for the human girl and the mobian fox. A nice way to take their minds of from their current problems and relax a bit.

Finally the two were done.

They stepped back and Tails spoke, "Okay, we just have to wait for the Chaos energies to be injected into his systems via the lightning Dust and activate him. We should also wait before we fully activate the upgrades. For now we just watch if they are able to reactivate Omega."

Only a few second later, it happened. A crackling and whirring sounded inside the combat robot. Then his 'eyes' glowed red.

"SYSTEM CHECK… ALL SYSTEMS FULLY OPERATIONAL. E-123 OMEGA ACTIVATED."

Slowly the machine sat up and looked around. Omega's eyes immediately shifted to Tails.

"TAILS WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE? WHERE ARE SHADOW AND ROUGE?"

"Well… uh…", Tails shuffled around for a bit. He was unsure how to answer the robots question, since he barely ever interacts with the rogue Eggman robot. Ruby just watches Omega with a quite fascination. Normally she would jump up and down in excitement by getting to meet a real, alien combat robot. But the loud tone and presence of the machine was a bit intimidating for her, so the silver eyed girl decides to let Tails handle the situation. Said fox seemed to have found the right words to say.

Clearing his throat, he said: "Can you maybe tell me what caused you to shut down? I think it would be better if I know what happened to you before I bring you up to date."

Omega's eyes glowed a darker shade of red. For a few second Tails regretted his words, thinking he infuriated the robot. Omega was not someone that you could make demands with. Or even ask for a favor with a `pretty please?´ if you didn't want to be riddled by bullets.

But the fear turned into relief when the last of the E-Series answered, "I WAS SEND TO INVESTIGATE STRANGE ENERGY SIGHTINGS IN THIS CITY. I ENCOUNTERED A MASKED ENTITY THAT KEPT MOCKING ME. SOMETHING ABOUT OF HOW I WOULD BE NO PROBLEM COMPARED TO SHADOW. I DIDN'T LIKE THE IMPLICATION OF THESE WORD, SO I TRIED TO POLITELY THREATEN THE ENTITY WITH WHAT HE MEANT BY THESE WORDS. I WAS ABOUT TO EXTERMINATE IT WHEN MY SENSORS WENT HAYWIRE AND I WAS FORCED TO SHUTDOWN TO PREVENT AN OVERLOADING. AFTER THAT I WASN'T ABLE TO REACTIVATE MYSELF UP UNTIL THIS MOMENT." Omega scanned the surroundings. "TAILS… WHAT HAPPENED? WHAT DID THE ENTITY MEAN WHEN IT MENTIONED SHADOW?"

"Your energy source was ripped out of you, but me and Ruby were able to fix it. Shadow... I haven't seen him since he helped Eggman defeat Sonic and take over the world."

"WHAT?!"

Tails explained to the robot what had happened and what he now assumed about the masked one's abilities.

"YOUR HYPOTHESIS THAT THE SHADOW AIDING DOCTOR EGGMAN BEING A FAKE MUST BE CORRECT. HE WOULD NEVER JOIN HIM OR ANY OF HIS HENCHMEN. HOWEVER, WHY DID YOU ABANDON THE RESISTANCE? YOU ARE NEEDED IN THE BATTLE AGAINST EGGMAN AND YET YOU FAILED YOUR COMRADES AT THE FIRST SIGHT OF CONFLICT?"

Tails looked down in guilt, Omegas words hitting right were it hurt, but Ruby stepped in front of him and looked at Omega with a grim expression. While she still felt a certain sense of intimidation from the robot, she wouldn't just stand by and let him make the fox mobian feel bad.

"Hey don't be so hard on him!", she snapped at Omega. "You'd still be rusting away without him, so you better be grateful to Tails! And the running away thing... well that might not have been right thing to do, I admit that, but he's struggling with a lot! Including that he might never see his best friend and brother again!"

Omega, who had previously ignored Ruby, watched the human girl for several seconds. Just when she was afraid that he might attack her, the robot turned his attention back to Tails.

"I HEREBY OFFER AN APOLOGY. I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH REGOGNISING THE BOUNDRIES OF THE SENSITIVE EMOTIONS OF YOU META BAGS. AND YOU DID INDEED HELP ME. YOU HAVE MAY GRATIDUDE FOR THAT."

Tails was a bit taken aback by these words, which he wasn't expecting at all from the usually bloodthirsty robot, but he quickly composed himself.

"It's okay Omega."

"IF THAT MATTER IS SETTLED I WANT TO DISCUSS THE OTHER MEAT BAG." Omega looked at Ruby. "WHERE DID YOU FIND THIS PERSON TAILS? I CANT IDENTIFY HER. AND HER STATS ARE… UNUSAL."

"What do you mean by that?"

"SCANNINGS SHOW ME AN ENERGY STRUCTURE AROUND HER BODY AND HER EYES EMIT A DIFFERENT FORM OF ENERGY THAT PARTIALLY OVERWHELMS MY SENSORS. IN A WAY IT REMINDS ME OF HOW SHADOW´S BODY IS HARNESSING CHAOS ENERGY."

"Er, well... hello I guess," Ruby said a little awkwardly. "My name is Ruby Rose and the energy field around me is my aura. The light in my eyes… well I only found out about that recently so I can't say much about it."

"AURA? MY MEMORY FILES POSESS NO DATA MATCHING THE CONCEPT."

"Ruby comes from another world, where things work a little differently from ours," Tails explained to the confused robot.

"I SEE. SO SHE IS JUST LIKE BLAZE."

"Wait who is Blaze?"

"Blaze is a princess from another world called the Sol dimension. She guards the Chaos Emeralds' counterparts there, the Sol Emeralds. These are capable of inter dimensional travel and could theoretically help you, Ruby. Unfortunately there is no way for us to contact Blaze unless she comes into our dimension first."

Ruby sighed. "It would have been just too easy. Then I guess we stick to plan A."

"WHAT IS PLAN A AND HOW CAN I HELP YOU WITH ITS SUCCESS. SEE IT AS GRATITUDE OF FOR MY REPAIR."

"Well..." Tails began, "we wanted to break into one of Eggman's bases and get more information about the power the masked entity is using. This and Ruby's appearance seem to be related somehow."

Omgea's eyes literally lit up. "SO THIS PLAN INVOLVES DESTROYING EGGMAN`S PROPERTY. YOU CAN DEFINETLY COUNT ON MY FIREPOWER."

Tails smiled a little. For one because of relief that the combat robot will actually help him and Ruby. And because Omega´s almost childlike excitement and enthusiasms about the prospect of destroying Eggman tech was a bit amusing for the fox.

"Thanks Omega. It's best if we find a way out of the city"

"Why?", asked Ruby curious.

"PROPOSING THEORY: TAILS IS IN NEED OF A CLEAR SIGNAL TO LOCATE THE NEAREST EGGMAN BASE. THE CURRENT LEVEL OF SIGNAL IS UNSATISFACTORY."

"Exactly! However there might be some trouble of getting out of the city. While the initial robots that attacked the city were withdrawn, most likely to be used elsewhere, there are still other models that are searching for potential resistence members."

"LET THEM COME." After being inactive for so long, failing to exterminate the unknown entity and missing out on an entire war, the last of the E-Series was hungry for destruction and violence.

"Well, wouldnt be the first time I had to battle machines", Ruby said while taking Crescent Rose out.

Tails gathered up all his gear, then the trio set off.

Of course, it wasn't long before they encountered difficulties. A swarm of Eggman robots marched around a corner and set sights on the trio.

They were different from the usual Egg Pawns. They were smaller and more round. They had a silvery color and tiny machine guns for hands. Tails explained to his companions that these models were known as Egg Ponds.

Immediately the Egg Ponds began firing. Tails jumped nervously at the loud noise and Ruby gave him a worried look. Omega, on the other hand, ran straight at the enemy robots, their ammunition just bouncing off from his metal body, and bombarded them with his own weapons. Omegas hands turned into gattling guns and began to rotate. The silver colored robots didn't stand a chance and exploded when Omega began firing. But that wasn´t all. When he was close enough, Omega retracted his cannons and shredded the remaining combat robots with his metal claws.

"DANGER SUCCESSFULLY NEUTRALISED," Omega's voice blared loudly through the ruined city. "I HOPE THAT IN THE SEARCH OF AN EGGMAN BASE WE COME ACROSS STRONGER MODELS THAN THIS ONE."

"Wow," Ruby mouthed, completely impressed. Louder, she exclaimed, "That was incredible! The robots were... and you were... I mean... Wow."

Omega's ego sucked those words in like a sponge did with water.

"I AM THE ULTIMATE E-SERIES MODEL. NONE OF EGGMAN´S OTHER ROBOTS CAN COMPARE TO ME IN STRENGTH AND FIRE POWER. I AM PERFECT AND COMBAT READY."

The last sentence reminded Ruby of a certain android girl who had often said a similar phrase. And then, by some trick, she was destroyed by her own weapons. Ruby shook her head to block out the memories of another dead friend. It still ruined the experience of seeing Omega tearing trough these robots. But she didn't want to ruin the mood and forced a smile.

"I believe you Omega. You could certainly defeat an Atlesian Paladin single-handedly."

"OF COURSE I CAN ALTHOUGH I HAVE ALSO NO DATA ON WHAT AN ATLESIAN PALADIN IS."

"Well, you see-"

"Thank you for clearing the path, Omega," Tails interjected. "But I'm picking up signals from other robots nearby. We'll have to fight our way out of the city."

And so they did. The trio encountered another groups of Egg Ponds. Omega destroyed most of the machines, roaring his superiority over them over and over again. Ruby dodged projectiles with ease and dismembered robots with Crescent Rose. Using the momentum of her speed she sailed past the Egg Ponds and let her scythes blade cut trough the metal bodies. Omega obliterated another Egg Pond before pausing and analyzing Ruby´s method of combat. He watched how she turned into rose petals to avoid damage from a trio of Egg Ponds, traveled a house facade up and manifested herself in solid form on the buildings ceiling. From her position, it was easy for Ruby to shoot the enemy robots down with Crescent Rose´e sniper form. When she jumped back on the street, Omega proclaimed: "RUBY ROSE."

The silver eyed girl turned to the battle robot with a questioning look.

"YOU POSSES EXTRAORDINARY ABILITIES AND COMBAT SKILLS SUPERIOR TO MOST HUMANS ON MOBIUS. AS WELL AS AN INCREDIBLY DESIGN IN WEAPONRY."

Ruby couldn't help but smile widely at the compliment. "Thanks! I made Crescent Rose myself and trained hard with my uncle to use her in perfect style with my Semblance."

"DO ALL HUMANS OF YOUR WORLD CREATE SUCH UNIQUE WEAPONS THEMSELVES? I WISH TO OBTAIN SOME OF THEIR DESIGNS FOR MYSELF."

"Everyone that wants to become a Hunter or Huntress make their own weapons. Heh… and maybe your wish may come true under the right circumstances." Ruby´s smile obtained a slightly mischievous and also mysterious hint.

This puzzled Omega, but before he could ask more questions, Tails yelled: "Look out. I´m getting more signals!"

Tru to his word, more Egg Ponds appeared. They were accompanied by some regular Egg Pawns. Ruby and Omega instantly engaged in combat with them. Tails hesitated. He wanted to join the fight, he really did! After all, he managed to help Ruby out with Phantom Chaos. But all the noise made him slightly tremble. Made him remember how he could barely fight back against Sonics attacker… but he could still fight back now! Even if he didn't need to do it in direct combat. The fox mobian took a deep beath and flew over the battle field. From this viewpoint he could see when a robot tried to attack one of the fighters in black and red from behind. Whenever that happened Tails hacked into the combat robots' systems and briefly cripplied them, making it easy for Ruby or Omega to deal with them. Or in the latters case, make it more easier for him to destroy the robots.

With this kind of teamwork they managed to quickly escape the ghost town and reach a hill outside of it, where Tails tried to locate the nearest Eggman base with his Miles-Electronic. After a while he found something very interesting.

Not only did he get signals from a base in Green Hill Zone, but the mad doctor himself seemed to currently reside there.

Now I know some people might be disappointed that there wasn´t more action. Or that Omega didn´t use his upgrades just yet. Or that we will venture into Green Hill Zone next.

Rest assured that next chapter will have more robots getting destroyed and that Green Hill Zone might not be as green anymore because Eggman gave it a bit of a design chance. And I am not talking about the bland Sand Hill levels. I have planned something different for Segas most reused level.

As for Omega and his upgrage, if it won´t happen next chapter, it will definitely happen the chapter after that. That much I can assure you.

To richboylion: Yeah, while a lot of people like to compare Ruby with Sonic (and I mean, they are similar in a lot of ways) she and Tails also have a lot in common. The both of them will do some more tinkering together. After all: Mobius has a lot of potential upgrades for Crescent Rose.

To ranjira1988: Just like I mentioned above, Tails and Ruby have a lot in common and will bond a lot over tinkering. Tough they will also have a lot of bonding moments outside of it. As for Omega just you wait and see what happens when he fully activates his upgrade. And yeah, like shown in the chapter, Omega would be very fascinated with Remnants weapon designs and the potential that Dust would hold. And he would definitely go all Doom Slayer against the endless amount of Grimm that are prowling around there.

Now I have a question for all of you: Does anyone have an idea for a team name? Because just as I was finished writing this chapter, I realized that I created a solid Sonic Heros type team:

Omega: Power Type

Ruby: Speedster Type

Tails: Flyer Type

If anyone has an idea of how to call this team let me know.
