Ch 65 The Future is in Your Hands
Helena sighs, staring at her bedroom window that Drayden offered her and Adam in his home. She was thinking to herself about the Future of Pokemon and People if they don't succeed in awakening Zekrom.
Her eyes shift over to the Dark Stone, safely wrapped in a white blanket on the table.
She and Professor Ceder stayed in Opelucid City until Hilda made her way to the City. "I do hope Hilda wakes you up, Zekrom. I don't think anyone can be really happy without Pokemon living together." Helena said to the Dark Stone,
A knock outside her room door gained her attention. "Helena, I'm coming in."
"Okay," Helena heard her Mentor's voice from the other side of the door. The door opens, letting Adam inside her room.
Adam smiles, gazing over to the Dark Stone on the table. "You're taking care of the Dark Stone very well," He then noticed the blankets wrapped around it, "A bit too much if you ask me."
Helena knew what her Mentor said, causing her to blush a bit. "W-Well, I want to make sure that the Dark Stone is all right before handing it to Hilda." She answers the blue and blonde-haired Professor.
"I get that you want nothing bad to happen to the Dark Stone. But you don't need t go overboard, Helena." Adam said, understanding her protectiveness over the Dark Stone.
"I know, but I want to make sure that nothing happens to Zekrom," Helena said to her Mentor, looking at the slumbering Dragon on the table. "It's the only hope for protecting the Pokemon World as we know."
Adam gave a sympathetic expression to his Apprentice, seeing that Helena was serious about being the Guardian of the Dark Stone. However, he could tell that this task given to her was stressing her. "Helena, you know you don't need to burden yourself with this." He said to her.
The blue and blonde-haired Professor placed his hand on Helena's shoulder, genuinely worried about her. "You can always rely on me to help you, Helena," Adam said, acting as a proper Guardian to the black-haired trainer.
"I know, and thank you, Professor." Helena smiles, thankful for Professor Ceder being with her for this task. She then looks out the window, curious when Hilda will arrive. "Hilda is taking a long time to get here." She commented.
"Helena, Hilda is at the Opelucid City Gym in a Gym Battle with Drayden about now," Adam informed his black-haired Apprentice.
Helena quickly got up from her chair, hearing that Hilda was already in the City. "What!? When did Hilda get here?" The black-haired trainer asked her Mentor.
Adam chuckles at the reaction Helena gave, "This morning, you were already asleep by then so Drayden and her decided to wait until the Gym Battle was over for you to give the Dark Stone." The young Professor said, explaining what Iris told him. "Yesterday, you looked like you need it."
The black-haired girl nodded; she was feeling a bit tired and a little bit stressed. "I-I guess I was a little bit tired yesterday, Professor." Helena smiles,
"Then, shall we head to the Gym? If we're lucky then we can get a glimpse of the end of the Battle." Adam motions his head to the outside,
Helena nodded, accepting the idea of watching Hilda and Drayden's Battle. "Sounds fun, sure." She responded to her Mentor.
The two Researchers head out into the City, going to the Opelucid Gym. Helena safely held onto her bag, protecting the Dark Stone inside.
Helena looks around the old and yet Modern City, impressed by how preserved the Historical City was to the original structures. "Still impresses me that Opelucid City manage to preserve its original structures," She commented,
"Yes, that's why I like Opelucid City and visit it every time I get the chance," Adam commented, looking at his Apprentice, sharing his thoughts on the City they were at. "It's always nice to see what Unova was like before the Modern Age. History is always fascinating,"
Helena could only smile, hearing how her Mentor express his love for the Past. "You did live around Ruins back in your Home Region." She said to her Mentor.
Adam chuckles, lifting his head proudly at the comment Helena made. "And I'm proud to say it."
The two laugh before continuing their way to the Opelucid City Gym, they have arrived, and are greeted by a Building seemingly older than Buildings in the City.
"So this is the Opelucid City Gym." Helena gazed up at the Hexagonal Building where the entrance was two Dragon head Statues. One black and the other white indicating they were Statues of the two Legendary Pokemon.
"It looks like it was built in Ancient times," Helena commented, taking note of the standing Ruins.
"It was, during the time when the Twin Heroes were around. The Opelucid City Gym was once a shrine to both Zekrom and Reshiram before they were put to rest." Adam explains the History of the Opelucid City Gym to the black-haired girl.
Helena nodded, finding that fascinating to hear. "I see,"
Adam walks forward, approaching the doors to the Gym. "Ready to go in, Helena?" The blue and blonde-haired Professor asked his Apprentice, receiving a nod from her.
The young Professor opens the two doors, greeted by a loud explosion. Helena looks before her, seeing the Battle taking place before her.

Hilda/ Druddigon vs Drayden/ Haxorus
"Druddigon, Dragon Claw!" Hilda held out her hand, crying out to a flightless blue and red scaled Dragon before her.
The Cave Pokemon roars, claws extending and turning a greenish-blue color. "Druddigon!" He storms his way over to a large bipedal green-scaled Pokemon with two large axe-like tusks protruding from the muzzle.
Drayden glares at his Pokemon Partner before him, commanding him with a stern voice. "Haxorus, retaliate with Superpower." The Dragon master commanded.
"HAXORUS!" The Axe Jaw Pokemon roars, taking on an orange aura. He charges for Druddigon and collided with him.
Both Dragon-types bashed it out, showing the true strength of the Dragon-type Pokemon. A true Battle between powerful Pokemon.
"Druddigon, don't falter! Keep putting pressure!" Hilda cried out to her Partner on the Battlefield.
Near the entrance, both Helena and Adam watched Hilda's Druddigon trying to overcome Haxorus. "Wow, Hilda's Druddigon is strong," Helena commented.
Adam nodded, "Indeed, both she and her Pokemon are in sync. Her determination to win is practically emanating off her." The young Professor added. He then turns his head, spotting a few seats empty for the two of them.
"Helena, there are two open seats over there." He points to the seats close to the Battlefield.
Helena smiles as the two of them head over to the seats to watch the Battle.
Back on the Battlefield, Hilda turns to the audience and saw both Helena and Professor sitting in the first row. She smiles at them, greeting them respectfully before turning her attention to her Gym Battle. "Druddigon, knock Haxorus down with Scale Shot!" She held her hand out.
"Druddigon!" The Cave Pokemon roars, his scales glowing before shooting the glowing scales at the Axe Jaw Pokemon.
Drayden glares at the Challenger and his Partner. "Haxorus, Psycho Cut to disburse the Scale Shot!" He commanded his Partner.
"Haxorus!" Haxorus's tusks glowed a bright purple glow. He swung his head left to right, sending cuts toward the Scale Shot.
Both Attacks collided causing a small explosion, Hilda knew that Drayden would deflect Druddigon's Attack. She took the opportunity to strike when the iron was hot, "Druddigon, use Dragon Dance then Dragon Claw!" She ordered.
The Cave Pokemon dashed forward from the dust cloud in a bluish-purple aura before his claws glowed a greenish hue. "Druddigon!" He cried out, charging for Haxorus.
"Use Guillotine, Haxorus!" The Dragon master quickly reacted to Hilda's quick action.
Haxorus roars, his tusks growing larger resembling the blade of a guillotine. "HAXORUS!" He turns his head to the left, building up energy to swing.
"GRAB IT!" Hilda cried out to her Pokemon.
Druddigon raised his claws, grabbed his fellow Dragon-type's tusk, and slid back into the dirt. "D-Druddi…gon." The Cave Pokemon growls, using his strength to hold his position.
'Now this is unexpected, Hilda used Druddigon's Dragon Claw to catch Haxrous's tusk.' Drayden gave a light chuckle, seeing that through their Battled, the brunette trainer was filled with unexpected surprises.
In response to Hilda's resolve, Drayden proceeded to give it his all in their Battle. "Haxorus, push forward," Dayden commanded,
Haxorus stomps forward, putting his strength into defeating Druddigon. "HAXORUS!" The Axe Jaw Pokemon roars,
Druddigon clenched his jaw, holding his position as Haxorus. "Druddigon!" The Dragon-type shifts his eyes to his trainer, hearing her calling his name. "Use Hyper Beam!" Hilda smirks.
"Druddigon!" The Cave Pokemon opens his mouth, allowing a buildup of energy to form. A purple orb appears in the center of his mouth.
Dayden and everyone else wasn't expecting he would fall for Hilda's trap. He quickly responded to the new development, ordering his Partner to dodge it. "Haxorus, cease your advancement now!"
Haxorus turns to the Dragon master before leaping back, making some space between him and Druddigon.
"Drudd…igon!" A purple beam was released from Druddigon's mouth.
The beam hurls towards the Axe Jaw Pokemon, unable to dodge nor retaliate in time.
The Hyper Beam collided with Haxorus, exploding upon contact.
Hilda remains steadfast, ready in case her Druddigon's Hyper Beam doesn't knock Drayden's Haxorus.
The dust cloud cleared, revealing Haxorus was still standing on his two feet. "Haxorus," The Dragon-type growls, huffing from taking on the Hyper Beam head-on.
"Tch," Hilda was about to call for another Attack when Haxorus staggered a bit. "Huh?" She questions the sudden movement made by the Dragon-type Pokemon.
Then all of a sudden, Haxorus fell to his knees before falling to the Battlefield. "Hax…orus…" Spirals replaced the Axe Jaw Pokemon's pupils, indicating that he was unable to continue.
Iris raised the red flag to Hilda's side of the Battlefield, acting as Referee for the Gym Battle. "Haxorus is unable to Battle, the victor is Druddigon" The purple-haired girl announced,
"Axew, Axew!" Axew pops out of his Partner's hair, raising his claws to Hilda's side of the Battlefield. (End Song)
"We did it, Druddigon!" Hilda exclaims, cheering for her Pokemon's success.
Druddigon turns to face his trainer, smiling at his victory over the final Gym Leader's Pokemon. "Druddigon!" He happily responded to his trainer's cheer.
Drayden smiles under his beard, confident enough that Hilda can defeat the King of Team Plasma. He took out Haxorus's Pokeball, aiming it toward his Partner, "Haxorus, excellent job, return and get some rest."
A red beam went over to the Axe Jaw Pokemon, returning him inside the Pokeball.
The Dragon master looks at his Partner's Pokeball, appreciating his hard work. His eyes then shift to Hilda, quickly joined by Iris and her Axew.
Iris held onto the brunette trainer's hand, congratulating her on victory in the Gym Battle. "You and your Pokemon are awesome out there, Hilda." She commented with a smile. "I never saw any trainer who understands their Pokemon well…well other than N of course, but still!"
"T-Thank you Iris, it's just natural to me when Battling," Hilda spoke before hearing footsteps coming from the other end of the Battlefield.
Both girls turned to face Drayden, heading toward them.
"Well done, Hilda. You have not only demonstrated that you're the strongest trainer that could rival the Champion. But you also demonstrated your resolve to protect our World and defeat N," The Mayor of Opelucid City said, standing before the girls. "It pleases me that you are willing to fight for what's right, thus it honors me to give you this."
Drayden took out a grey Dragon wing with a red orb at the center. "Hilda, this here is the Legend Badge; proof of your victory here in the Opelucid Gym,"
Hilda humbly took her final Gym Badge from Drayden's hand, "Thank you, Drayden." She then giggles when Druddigon nuzzles her as his way of congratulating his trainer.
"Druddigon." The Cave Pokemon coos, happy to make Hilda happy.
"Ah, Druddigon, you shouldn't have." Hilda laughs, petting his head in response.
Iris smiles, covering her mouth, "Awe, I love it when a Pokemon gets affectionate with their trainers." She petted Axew's head, having the urge to do so once she saw how Druddigon responded.
Axew lifts his chin, cooing at the feeling. "Ax…."
Drayden smiles before getting to the serious topic, his eyes shift to Helena and Adam. The two nodded and proceeded to the exit, returning to Drayden's home. "Hilda, if you would don't mind, please meet us at my home."
Iris smiles at her brunette friend, raising her finger, "You remember the way, right?" She asked,
"Of course, I remember the way," Hilda responded as the Mentor and Apprentice headed for the Mayor's House.
At Drayden's House, Helena was fidgeting while standing. "Helena, you're fidgeting," Adam informed the young Ability,
Helena flinched, hearing what her Mentor said. "Oh, I am?" She asked, realizing that she was fidgeting.
"Yes, try to calm down. There's nothing to get yourself work up over," Adam said, trying to calm Helena's nerves.
Helena nodded, appreciating his help. "Yeah, but still…I can't help but think that Team Plasma might be around the corner and try something." The Ability User commented, holding the Dark Stone protectively. "Especially when those three might appear out of nowhere."
"The Shadow Triad, a dangerous team within Team Plasma. But I wouldn't worry about that, Helena." The blue and blonde-haired Professor said, ensuring her that they were safe. "Drayden's House practically has every security measure built in. Anything that happens inside will alert Officer Jenny and the Opelucid City PD."
Helena smiles, feeling a bit better knowing that the House was filled with every security system. Soon, the door opened, revealing Iris, Axew, Drayden, and Hida following behind them.
"Hilda, your Battle just a few minutes ago was something to behold." Helena greeted her brunette friend, "I've never seen anything like it, except for the time I saw my Friend winning the Hoenn League."
"Awe, thank you, Helena." Hilda smiles before noticing the odd rock in Helena's hands she saw in the Nacrene Museum. "So that was the Dark Stone,"
Both Iris and Drayden step before Hilda, standing beside Helena and Adam. "Hilda, you have proven yourself in many ways today with your Ideals through Battle." Drayden spoke, "I can tell that you hold onto your beliefs and won't let anyone tell you so."
"Something that what some People would call stubbornness," Iris commented to lighten the mood. Helena couldn't help but giggle at her comment.
"Iris." Drayden raised his voice,
"Sorry," The purple-haired trainer apologizes to her Mentor.
Drayden cleared his throat, continuing where he was interrupted. "In any case, Hilda, we believe that you could awaken Zekrom from his slumber." The Dragon master said, looking at the brunette trainer.
"M-Me!?" Hilda was taken aback; she knew that they received the Dark Stone from Lenora, however, she didn't expect to be given it. "But why? I can't possibly awaken Zekrom, I don't have the slightest to awaken him."
Adam smiles, interjecting the conversation. "We believe that the way to awaken Zekrom is to have someone who has the strongest belief in their own Ideals." The young Professor explains to their candidate for the Dark Stone. "Countless times you have stuck to your beliefs against Team Plasma and rejected their ways."
Iris shrugs, agreeing with the Adults. "We all seen you standing against Team Plasma, Hilda." The aspiring Dragon master said, "So it makes sense that you should be the one who receives the Dark Stone,"
The brunette trainer looks face to face before looking at Helena. "Helena, what about you?"
Helena approached Hilda with the Dark Stone in hand, she smiled at her and spoke. "I wouldn't have it any other way, Hilda. You're strong and a capable trainer," She said, "Something I'm still working on. So, please take the Dark Stone, and use it to protect the World we know."
The black-haired girl handed the Dark Stone to Hilda, having her take it into her own hands. Hilda looks down at the slumbering Dragon, surprised at how light it is. "I-I'll do my best; I won't let you all down."
Later that night, Hilda left for Victory Road, resting at the Pokemon Center and preparing herself for the time to face N and Team Plasma.
Drayden has offered both Helena and Adam to stay in his Home for the time being until the ordeal was over.
Adam walks over to the kitchen, going to prepare dinner. "I'll prepare something to eat for everyone, any request-" He paused, hearing a thud behind him. Swiftly turning around, he saw Helen holding onto the dining room chair. "HELENA!"
Iris came down the stairs, seeing Helena leaning on the chair, she jumps over the railing and ran over to her. "Helena, what's wrong?" She asked.
"I-It's nothing, just a bit exhausted." Helena smiles, allowing Iris to settle her down on the chair.
The Pokemon appeared from the corner, seeing the young trainer not doing good. Especially for Kirlia, being the first Pokemon in Helena's team.
"It must be the stress from being the Dark Stone's Guardian being released," Adam commented, approaching his Apprentice. He took a good look at her, feeling her forehead with the back of his hand, "A small fever from the stress, but nothing to be concerned about."
Iris looks at Adam, "Are you sure? Drayden is out in the City, if I call him to bring him-"
"Fever medicine should be sufficient," Adam said, seeing Iris immediately head to grab her Rotom Phone.
Adam went to the kitchen, fetching a glass of water for Helena. "I'm sure that being the Guardian of the Dark Stone is stressful, but you did good, Helena." He comforts her, making the situation better.
"You think?" Helena took the glass, taking a sip of cool water.
Adam nodded, proud of her for keeping a cool head. "Yes, you did a good thing today and secure a way to stop Team Plasma…I'm proud of you, Helena."
Helena smiles, taking the compliment from her Mentor, now Father figure to heart. "I'm just happy to help,"
"And you can further by resting," Adam smiles, wanting for her to take the time to rest after a daunting task.
Outside of Floccesy Town
"N, the time is upon us for the Truth about Pokemon and People to be revealed to the World." N sat down in the chair in their cottage, as Ghetsis spoke to him. "Soon everything will be perfect, Pokemon and People will be truly happy." He smiles.
The green-haired man looks at N, "Once you defeat Alder, then and only then your dream, our dream will be fulfilled," Ghetsis said before asking the young trainer. "Don't you agree, N?"
N remains silent, not answering his Foster Father's question. "N, what has gotten into you, lately you've been silent. Not even responding to the others in the manner you usually do." Ghetsis demanded from him.
"It's nothing, Ghetsis. I'm willing to spread the Truth of our goals to the entire Unova Region." N responded to his Foster Father's question to him.
Ghetsis wasn't convinced that what N said was the genuine answer he wanted. Then he remembered that failed excursion with that Ability User, "Don't tell me that you're thinking about that Ability User," He glared at the King of Team Plasma.
N didn't respond to Ghetsis's other question, causing him to retaliate. "I can't believe it, you're still thinking about that insignificant girl!" Ghetsis growls, glaring at N for thinking about their failed recruitment. "At first I thought she would be easily recruited to Team Plasma's ranks since she shares the same Abilities as you and your Sisters,"
"But she is too far gone, already corrupted by the arrogant People outside of Team Plasma!" Ghetsis exclaims, venting out his frustration of failing to obtain a possible puppet to control. He glares at the green-haired trainer once more,
"You are to forget that little speck and focus on only defeating Alder and the Pokemon League. In fact, wipe that Person from your mind, like she never existed at all!" The Leader of the Sages demanded of his Foster Son, wanting to think like a machine. His red monocle shines a bit,
N just stares at Ghetsis with emotionless eyes, obeying his command. "Very well,"
Outside the Living room, Concordia and Anthea observe Ghetsis's interaction with their Brother. They both noticed how different Ghetsis was behaving towards N,
He wasn't speaking to him like he used to in a Fatherly tone like before. Ghetsis was acting overconfident, rash, and arrogant, "(This isn't good, seems like Ghetsis is getting a bit full of himself,)" Anthea whispers to her Sister.
"(Yes, he wasn't talking in his normal tone. But that doesn't concern me the most.)" Concordia looks over to their Brother, not acting like himself lately. "(I'm more concerned for N, I don't like that he's willing to follow Ghetsis's words more easily now than before.)"
Anthea nodded, agreeing with the blonde girl next to her. The two walk away from the Living room, entering a more private setting. "Things aren't what it's used to, Concordia. Ever since N gain the trust of Reshiram and defeated Dragon master Drayden, Ghetsis is spending more and more time with N." She added.
"Does this have to do with Helena's refusal to join Team Plasma?" Concordia asked, trying to figure out what led to this current Present.
"Must be, but I don't like how N is acting." The pink-haired girl commented, starting to feel like their purpose in bringing a perfect World is looking bleak. "We have to find out for ourselves."
Anthea nodded, turning to an empty space. "We need assistance."
Suddenly, a member of the Shadow Triad appears. This member has an unkept fringe and long white locks from the back. "Lady Anthea, Lady Concordia, is there something you need?" He asked the two Sisters.
Concordia approaches the Shadow Triad member, "Take us to Helena Potter."
