CH 19
When Kate woke up the sun was starting to set so she got up and walk into the bathroom to use the loo and wash her hands. Then she had a shower to freshen up since she was going out to meet up with the others for dinner and drinks.
When she walk down stairs she walk into the kitchen and got her self a cold drink then she walk out side to see Paul and Alice swimming in the pool so Kate walk over and sat down in a chair watching them swim lengths of the pool. When they finish they saw Kate sitting down
"Enjoy your nap Kate" Alice asked
"Yes thanks it what I needed"
"What time are you meeting the others Kate" Paul asked as he got out of the pool
"I'll be calling for a taxi soon"
"Your sure you up to going out tonight, Paul told me what happen today"
"Yes I'll be fine, all I needed was few hours sleep"
"Ok well at least you can sleep in tomorrow" Kate smile
"Yes I know" they talk for ten minutes before walking in side.
Kate called for a taxi while Alice and Paul went up stairs to have a shower. When the taxi arrived Kate left to head to the restaurant. When she arrived and walk inside, she saw most of the lieutenants were at one end of the restaurant so Kate walk over to them
"hi guys"
"Hey, we weren't sure you were going to make it" one of them said.
Kate sat down just as a waitress walk over to her "White wine please"
"Name" "McGregor" Kate said.
The women wrote it down then walk away. "You look a bit better" one of them asked
"thanks, I had a lie down at my in laws place before coming here. Rest is all I need for the next few days"
"We all going to need plenty of that. So what your plans for Christmas" Kate smile
"going up to Cairns, spending it with mike and my father who flying in from England"
"what about your in laws"
"mike and I spent last year with them. We taking turns each year"
"that a good idea"
then others showed up just as waitress showed up with Kate wine then she took the others orders and refills before leaving them to chat. When the others arrived and they got there drinks, one of the lieutenant stood up
"Can I have every one attention please" Every one turn to the guy
"I would like to make a toast to Watson bay class of two thousand. Where every we are we are transferred to I hope we do keep in contact with each other"
"Here, here" one of them said
"and of course a toast to lieutenant Kate princess perfect McGregor, as your name is now well known at ADFA and with your score and repetition at Watson bay" every one laugh
"You will be well known as the one and only princess perfect with the highest score in ADFA and Watson bay history"
"Here here" some of them said
"and of course the endless arguments with five instructors in that time. You sure one hell of a task master and you never back down to an argument with any of us and the instructors. You made those instructors take note that you were right. Who ever the captain is you transferring to I... we hope he knows what he, she in for when it comes to dealing with you. And we wish you and your husband all the best for the future. To Kate McGregor"
"Kate McGregor" every one else said raising there glasses to her then they took a sip.
The guy sat down and Kate stood up "thank you for that speech Tim. I'm not sure what to say at that time... but there is one thing I do want to share with you all... I've received a letter from commodore James. Midshipmen Curry and his friends have all been found guilty and all got a dishonorably discharge from the navy for sexual harassment against a fellow officer and giving false reports about what happen. With the statements not only from my self but eight other witnesses cause the commodore to have the six men charge. One of the statements came from admiral of the fleet him self" Every one at the table was shock
"the admiral wasn't impress with the six men in the way they treated me that day but he was impress with the way I handle every thing and even told the commodore that I will go along way in the navy. Now you know about what happen to Midshipmen Curry and his friends" Kate then sat down
"Kate you will go along way" one of them said
"thanks, I don't know about you but I'm hungry" Every one laugh which made Kate smile.
the group spent over four hours talking about things that happen during the course which made every one laugh. When Kate return back to the Flynn house it was almost midnight. She use key that was given to her for her to unlock the door. She walk in side and close the door and lock it then she took her sandles off and walk to the stairs and up them since there was mini lights going from the wall over the stairs.
Kate walk up stairs and down to her and mike bedroom. She walk in and close the door Then she walk over and turn the lamp on low at first then turn it up. Then she got change and did her routine before getting into bed turning the light off and snuggled down and fall into peaceful sleep.
Two days later Kate just got out of the pool after her swim when she heard the phone ring from in side. She pick up a towel to dry her self down when Paul walk out side with the cordless phone
"Kate it for you"
"thanks Paul" he pass her the phone
"Hello"
"Lieutenant McGregor it doctor Davidson"
"Yes doctor"
"I received a letter from doctor Clark from Watson bay. He said that you have been sick"
"Yes that right, he was running some blood tests, but why did he contact you" Kate sat down
"Cause of the test results. It show all but one test normal. The test that didn't return normal is pregnancy test. It came back positive" Kate was shock with the news
"Are you sure"
"yes I would like to see you in an hour can you make it"
"Yes I can"
"ok see you then" then they hung up.
Kate sat back in the seat putting her hand over her stomach while smiling. "a baby"
then she through about it and then she got up and walk in side putting the phone back in it spot "Kate is every thing ok" Paul asked
"Yeah that my doctor he got the blood results from the Watson bay doctor.. He want to see me about the results"
"Is every thing ok" Alice asked
"i hope so" Kate walk out of the room and to the stairs.
She walk up them and into her and mike bedroom. She had a shower and gotten dress. Then she went to call for a taxi to take her to the doctors. She said good bye to Paul and Alice before walking out the door. When she arrived at the hospital she walk down to the doctor office and sat in the waiting room when the doctor showed up.
"Kate come on through" Kate stood up and follow the doctor in to a room.
He pick up a gown and pass it to her "Get change in to this and hope on the bed, I'll be right back" he walk into another room and close the door.
Kate did what the doctor ask her to do then she got on the bed and waited. When the doctor return he got a nurse with him
"Now Kate when was your last cycle" Kate thought about it
"End of September. I though it was stress cause I was studying long hours"
"Well it not, so you be..." He did some working out with the charts
"ten, eleven weeks, ok lye down and lets see the little on shall we"
Kate lay down on the bed and nurse put a sheet over Kate legs and hip then she push the gown up exposing Kate stomach. The doctor put gel onto Kate stomach
"I've notice you showing already, you got a bump here"
"i thought I was eating to much"
the doctor smile and he pick up the transponder rod and put it onto Kate stomach and move it around while doing tome typing
"Is every thing alright" Kate asked when she saw the looks on both doctor and nurse faces.
"Yes, Kate is there any family history of Multi births in yours or your husband family"
"Yes Mike he got twin sister, two of his sisters got twins. Jo that my sister in law she got two sets of twins, are you saying I'm having twins" Kate asked
"Why about your side" the doctor asked
"Dad said to me that when I was little my mother miscarriage she was having twins, why do you think I might lose them" He stop what he was doing and turn to Kate
"do you know how far long your mother was" Kate thought about it
"It was beginning of her second trimester when she lost them... my grand mother said she lost them from a car crash and went into a depression"
"Ok thanks for telling me and since it wasn't a normal miscarriage you shouldn't have any problems but for one you can't be on a ship"
"i know that" He smile
"and second" he turn the monitor around and put the transponder rod over Kate stomach.
Kate look at what she was seeing then she look at the smiling doctor "Am I seeing what I'm seeing"
"Yes you are" Kate smile
"This is going to be the best Christmas present ever... oh no" Kate said suddenly
"what about flying"
"where to"
"Cairns"
"is ok, I'll give you pan flit to read and I'll send a letter to navy base here in Sydney about your pregnancy you will have to transferred to a shore posting for a year"
"ok" Kate saw the monitor once more
"any chance of getting copies of the ultra sound"
"sure"
"thank you" Kate said smiling.
Twenty minutes later Kate went shopping then she went to the couriers to have three of the packages sent. Two of them going to England and one to Brisbane. Then she went shopping at maturity shop for new clothes. Then she return back to Flynn place.
They left her a note telling her that they gone out to see friends. So Kate walk up to her bedroom to get change into her uniform then she left in another taxi to take her to Sydney navy base. When she arrived there she walk to where she needed to go.
When she arrived at the main part of the office she walk over and sat down at a computer. She brought up the navy letter with the navy insignia logo on it. Then she started typing up her request transferred and reason why as well a request for a maturity uniform.
When done, she sent the two copies to her e-mail account then she printed out the two letters. When done she sign it and fold it up and out it in an envelope. Then she stood up and walk over to where leader is who was at his desk he look up
"Can I help you lieutenant ma'am"
"Yes request forms for new uniforms leader"
"Yes ma'am" He stood up and walk over to a filing cabinet and open it he look though the files then turn to Kate
"Is it normal uniforms ma'am"
"Maternity" He smile at her then turn to get the papers out then close the draw then walk back to his desk passing her the files
"here you go ma'am and congratulation"
"thank you leader" he pass her a pen
"you can use that desk there ma'am" he pointed to the one on the left
"thank you" Kate pick up her hat and other items then walk over and sat down at the desk.
Then she filled out the request forms. When done she folding the paper work and out it in the envelope. Then she put the commodore name on to the envelope. When done she stood up and pick her things up and walk back over to the leader desk.
He look up "Every thing ok ma'am"
"Yes" she pass him his pen and the envelope
"Can you please make sure that commodore Newman get this please"
"You can do that ma'am, he just walk out of his office" Kate turn to see the commodore shaking a guy hand then he walk towards the exit. Kate turn and pick up the envelope
"thank you" then she turn and walk over to the commodore office
"Excuse me commodore Newman sir" he turn to Kate they both saluted each other.
"what can I do for you lieutenant" Kate pass him the envelope
"It a transferred request to a shore posting sir"
"come into my office lieutenant"
"Yes sir"
they walk into the commodore office, where he close the door then he walk around his desk and sat down at he put the envelope on his desk and sat back in his chair
"May I ask why the transferred lieutenant"
"I found out this morning that I'm pregnant sir"
"i see have you been to the doctors to have it confirm"
"Yes sir my gynecologist Doctor Davidson call me this morning he wanted to see me. He told me the news and did an ultra sound I'm ten weeks pregnant."
"I'll need a letter for conformation lieutenant"
"It in the envelope sir with my letter of transferred request as well order for maturity uniform"
the commodore pick up the envelope and open it he pulled out the letters and read what it says including one from doctor Davidson confirming what Kate said.
"Well lieutenant I'll see what I can do, is there any shore posting you will want to go" He asked looking up at her
"either here or Cairns sir"
"Why those two bases Lieutenant"
"Family sir. My husband is base up in Cairns on Huon ship and my in laws are here in Sydney sir"
"what is your husband name lieutenant"
"Lieutenant commander Mike Flynn sir" He sat up in his chair
"mighty mike Flynn"
"Yes sir, do you know him"
"Yes I remember him. Look lieutenant I'll see what I can do"
"thank you sir" he stood up and held out his hand, which Kate put her's in it and they shook
"congratulation lieutenant, dose Mighty mike know" Kate smile
"He will on Christmas day sir" He smile
"some Christmas present lieutenant"
"Yes it will be sir"
"Enjoy the rest of you day lieutenant"
"Yes sir" they saluted each other before Kate walk out of his office.
After late left the commodore pick up the phone to make a call while smiling as he sat down in his seat.
When Kate return back to the house she got change and went to get a drink and walk out side and sat in the sun and relax.
Over the next few days Kate went to do some shopping before leaving to fly up to Cairns. When she did arrived at Cairns air port she took a taxi to her and mike place. When she arrived and was in side. She unpack her bags and then she use mike car to go into town to get some groceries then return back home.
Then she put the Christmas tree up and decorated it and put the family gifts under it. When done she cook her self up some dinner and then she relax for the evening.
The next day she drove to the air port to pick up her father whom she miss. When she saw him she walk over and gave him a hug "hi dad"
"hi Kate are you ok you look a bit pale"
"I'm fine dad, haven't had much sun"
"ok, when Mike due in"
"tomorrow, we can go down to greet him on the docks"
"Are you sure it ok" Kate smile
"Yes it is, come on" they walk over to where the bags are.
When Ed got his bags they walk towards the exit while talking. When they arrived back at the house. Kate showed him his room then she went and got them both a cold drink. They sat out side where they talk for the rest of the afternoon.
The next morning Kate woke up feeling sick so she ate a cracker that she got in her draws. When her stomach settle down she got up and went to have a shower. Once she was dress she made the bed while munching on another cracker.
Then she walk down stairs and into the kitchen where she started getting breakfast on for her and her father. When her father walk into the kitchen he smile just as Kate dish up breakfast.
"Morning Kate"
"Morning dad" she pick up the two plates and turn around and put them on the breakfast bar then she pour them both cup of tea before joining him.
"what time is mike ship due in"
"when he calls" then Kate cell phone rings so she got it out of her pocket and answer it
"Kate McGregor, hello"
"Hey beautiful" Kate smile
"mike, miss you"
"i miss you to, we will be in port in couple of hours"
"ok see you then"
"ok did Ed arrive ok"
"Yes dad arrived ok" Kate said turning to her dad
"that good see you soon sweet heart, love you"
"love you to sailor" then they hung up.
Kate put her phone on the breakfast bar then she pick up her tea and drink some of it "young love" ed said grinning
"thanks a lot dad"
After breakfast and the dishes were done Kate and Ed went into town to do a bit of shopping then they headed to navy port. Kate was able to get pass Security since she in the navy. Once pass Security she drove down to where car park is.
Once the car was park she and Ed got out and close the doors. Kate lock the doors then she and Ed walk down to the wharf to see other family members there to greet the crew of the HMAS Huon. When Kate and Ed arrived they and others saw the ship coming in to port.
"Is that HMAS Huon Kate"
"Yes dad it is" When the ship dock the families were looking ford to seeing there loves ones.
Hour later the crew started walking off the ship and into families arms. Then Kate Saw mike in his uniform walking off the ship while grinning when he saw Kate. When he stop in front of her he put his bag down then they wrap there arms around each other and kiss passionately.
When they broke apart "Welcome home Mike"
"It good to be home, miss you"
"miss you to" they kiss once more then Mike hug Ed
"good to see you again Ed"
"you to Mike, great ship must be due for an up grade"
"in the next five years" mike said smiling.
Then he pick up his sea bag and wrap his arm around Kate waist which she did in return as they walk towards the car park while talking.
When they return home mike went and got change and sorted out his sea bag then he went and got him self a drink and went to join Kate and Ed out side in the sun. they spent the day relaxing. They went out to dinner that night.
Mike notice that Kate only had orange juice "Kate are you ok"
"I'm fine" Kate he gave her a look.
"I notice that Kate been pale since I got here" Ed said
"Kate are you sure your ok"
"Yes I'm ok Mike"
"You normal have wine" Kate smile
"I was sick couple weeks ago, blood tests that the doctor took was normal he put it down to studying to hard, you know what I'm like mike"
"Yes I do, you some times to forget lunch or dinner"
"that why. Doctor said for me to relax, get plenty of sun and rest. And that is what I've been doing"
"Is that all"
"Shopping" she said smiling at him which made him smile
"Well why your home you going to follow doctors orders"
"Is that right" She raise her eye brows at him
"Yes"
"To change the subject tomorrow" Kate said
"Tomorrow" Ed asked
"Yes what are you two plans for tomorrow"
"Christmas shopping" mike said
"Thought so" Kate said they talk about other things while enjoying there evening.
The next day Mike and Ed went Christmas shopping while Kate relax at home reading a book. When Mike and Ed return home they put the gifts under the tree while Kate got them a drink each. They relax out side while talking about different things.
That night they had a barbeque steak for dinner with salads. That night Kate went to bed early since she was feeling tired. Mike was worried about her and hope that she is ok and if she was no better in the next few days he would take her to the hospital for a check up.
The next morning it was Christmas day Kate was up and cooking breakfast when mike and Ed walk into the kitchen "Kate what are you doing" mike asked
"cooking breakfast now eat" Mike shook his head then kiss her before walking around the island and sat down.
Then Kate join them for breakfast. They talk about different things for twenty minutes till they finish breakfast. When finish and the dishes were done. Kate turn to Mike and Ed
"Dad, mike come with me please"
"Why" mike asked as they follow Kate into the living room they saw her go over to the Christmas tree and got a package out from the other gifts then she turn to them as she look at her watch
"sit down together"
"Kate"
"Mike" Ed and mike sat down then Kate step forward and pass mike the gift box.
He and Ed saw there names on the tag. Mike removed the paper then he look up at Kate
"Go on open it" Mike took the lid off and put it on the table
"what this" Ed asked as he pick up the picture
"Mike do you know what it is"
"no what is it?" He look up at grinning Kate as she step forward and bend over
"See these here" she pointed to the picture
"Yes what are they" Ed asked
"your grand children dad"
"What" mike and Ed said she nodded
"Ten weeks, well twelve weeks now"
Mike stood up and pick her up in his arms and spin around then he stop and put her on the ground.
"that why you been having orange juice and not wine"
"Yes so your happy Mike"
"Yes I am" then she turn to her still shock father
"Dad" he look up at her
"Kate there three"
"Yes dad triplets"
"I'm... shock happy this is the best Christmas present ever" he got up and hug her
"i knew you would be happy dad" then she turn to and walk over and pick up piece of paper then return passing it to mike
"Call your grand father mike, we know he been waiting for this moment since we got married" Mike kiss Kate
"i know he has been"
"mike when you talk to him ask if he open his Christmas gift yet, he would of by now since I put on the note what time to open it. tell him the blobs that I circled in felt tip pen are his great great grand children and that one or two are males since none of them are identical" Kate said.
"You sent him a copy of your ultra sound"
"Yes" Kate said smiling.
