CH 22
That afternoon Kate walk around to the back of the house smiling "Hey your home early" Alice said
"i am, I'm going to get change and go for cool swim" Kate said as she walk into the house
"she in a good mood" Paul said
"Yeah and it only three thirty in the afternoon" mike said looking at his watch.
When Kate walk out side she walk over and sat down in a chair putting her towel on the arm and drink on the table then she open bottle of sun tan lotion and put some on her arm and neck then put the bottle on the table.
"Kate care to share with us why your in a happy mood" Mike asked
"Remember the lieutenant commander I was telling you about last night mike"
"Yes"
"He had to fly our to Canberra and explain to fleet command in why he gave a lieutenant... naming me who hasn't got clearance on a project that he suppose to work on him self" they look at Kate as she rub the lotion over her arms, neck and face.
"That thing you were working on till late last night that was a high clearance project" Mike asked
"Yes and since lieutenant commander wanted it done by this morning. I put my plan in to action and now the lieutenant commander is in trouble"
"what about the project" mike asked
"commode Newman spoke to fleet command, I sign some papers and now I'm working on the project till next week" She said smiling
"that great news isn't it" Alice asked
"Yes it is after fleet commander read what I written down and now that want full details"
"I'm prod of you Kate" mike said
"thanks mike. Care to do my legs" Kate asked him as she past the bottle to him
"Love to" mike stood up and walk around and crouch down next to Kate.
"Why are you home early" Paul asked
"commodore said I could after what happen last night, he did some checking out and found out that the lieutenant commander left before five last night and I left after nine according to the security records"
"Ok" Paul said. While mike was doing Kate legs she was enjoying her drink.
They talk for half an hour before Kate went into the pool for cool swim which she enjoyed.
On Friday morning Mike walk in to navy base. He walk up to the floor where Kate told him she would be working from. When he walk into the room it look like the ball pen up in Cairns NAVCOM. But the design was different. He look around then walk over to a close door where Kate told him where she is working from.
He was just about to knock when he heard behind him "You can't go in there"
Mike turn around and look at the guy in front of him "Lieutenant commander Duke"
"Yes how do you know me"
"your rank and name tag"
"Oh. Can I ask why you were just about to go into there sir that for officers only"
"i know that lieutenant commander, lieutenant McGregor told me what room she working in, if you will excuse me she expecting me" then he turn around and knock on the door
"sir you can't go in there"
"come in" Kate said.
Mike open the door "sir you can't go in there, I'll call security" Mike walk in and close the door on the lieutenant commander face.
Kate smile when she saw mike walk in and close the door "I want to do that so many times to lieutenant commander. So what can I do for you mike" He lifted a bag
"It lunch time" Kate smile
"thanks mike but can you give me fifteen minutes" mike walk over and put the bag on a chair then over to Kate he bend over and give her a kiss
"Ok fifteen minutes then I'm going to start removing that uniform off you" Kate laugh
"I know your looking forward to doing that to me Mike now why don't you go out side and wait"
"Ok" he kiss her once more then walk to the door and open it he walk out side closing it when arm men and lieutenant commander walk over to mike
"Place this man under arrest"
"For what reason lieutenant commander" mike asked
"For not listening to me sir, you were not suppose to go in that room it for navy officers only"
"I know that" mike saw commodore walk out of his office and over to them
"then why didn't you listen to me sir"
"Cause unlike you lieutenant commander duke I follow the navy rules and I also have respect for the ones who work with me and I do not use my rank or power to suck up and kiss higher ups ass and get the lower ranking officers and junior sailors to work long hours to do your work." mike said yelling at the lieutenant commander
"sir don't you dear yell at me like that who are you"
"Lieutenant commander Duke" he turn to the commodore
"Yes sir"
"don't you talk like that to any one. Did you ask for this man identity"
"No sir"
"lieutenant commander Duke this is lieutenant commander Mike Flynn"
"How do you know him sir" duke asked
"commodore Newman was captain on HMAS Hammersley when I did my midshipmen gap year on the old girl before he was promoted. It good to see you again sir" mike step forward to shake the commodore hand while grinning
"you to mighty mike Flynn. Lieutenant commander duke I'll talk to you later"
"Yes sir"
"sorry about the miss under stand officers you can return back to your desk"
"sir you know this gentlemen" mike got his ID out and show the security guard
"Lieutenant commander Flynn" One of the men said after looking at mike navy ID and pass it back
"that right, you were doing your job"
"Yes sir" they saluted which mike did in return then they walk out of the room.
Mike turn back to the commodore "Your Here to take lieutenant McGregor out to lunch"
"Yes sir, but she told me she needed another..." he look at his watch
"Twelve minutes"
"come in to my office and we can chat"
"Yes sir" mike and the commodore walk into the office where mike close the door behind him.
Both mike and commodore talk about what they been up to since Hammersley. They talk and laugh about different things when there was a knock on the door
"come in" the door open
"sir" mike turn around to see Kate walking into the room then he look at his watch then back to Kate as he stood up
"sorry Kate commodore and I were talking, lost all track of time" Kate smile
"I under stand mike, I lost all track of time my self." Mike turn to the commodore who stood up.
They shook hands "Good to see you again lieutenant commander"
"You to sir, next time I'm down here we should get together and talk some more"
"sounds good to me, you two enjoy your afternoon"
"We will sir" Kate said.
Mike and Kate walk out of the commodore office while talking. They return back to the room where Kate was working in so mike could help her get change into a dress and comfortable shoes. When done and her uniform was put in the bag. They walk out and over to her desk where she got her shoulder bag and hat then they walk out together with there arms around each other while smiling as they talk.
After lunch mike drive him and Kate to the hospital since it was almost time for her appointment. When they walk into the hospital they walk down to the doctor office when the doctor saw them.
"Kate"
"hi"
"come on in" Mike and Kate walk into the doctor office
"doctor Davidson this is my husband Mike Flynn"
"Hi it nice to finally meet you at last Mike"
"you to doctor" they all sat down and talk for five minutes then they walk into the next room where Kate was having the next ultra sound check up.
Mike held on to Kate's hand as he look at the monitor for the first time "wow, that our babies" Mike said
"Yes Mike it is" Kate said smiling
"Every thing looks good here, how are you feeling at the moment Kate" Kate just then farted
"sorry" Kate said.
The doctor grin "don't be it normal, how are you feeling"
"My back has been painful but I guest it one of the babies pushing against it like you warn me about"
"True, how are you sleeping"
"Ok if I'm on my side, but I have been getting a lot tired lately but I put that down to work"
"ok I notice your blood pressure is still high Kate. I would recommend that I see you next week and send a letter to commodore Newman about you working half days for all of next week and I want you to get plenty of rest so we can get that blood pressure down. If not I might have to put you into hospital for total bed rest" Mike and Kate look worried
"what about our babies" mike asked
"they are fine Mike but it looks like Kate will be going on maturity leave sooner than plan, sorry Kate your health and health of these kids are more important than work at the moment"
"I under stand"
"good" He took measurements of the triplets as well took and printed out ultra sound pictures to give to Mike and Kate.
When every thing is done and Kate was change, she and mike left to do some shopping then headed back to the house. When they walk in side Alice walk over to them
"mike, Kate come into the living room"
"Why mum" Mike and Kate walk into the living room then stop.
"what the where did they come from" mike asked. In front of them was four large boxes
"England and Melbourne" Paul said.
Mike and Kate turn to each other "Dad" Kate said
"Who else. Do you want to see what in side"
"sure, can you open them mike"
"Ok, here you sit down" mike help Kate to sit down and put her feet up then he walk over and open one box, then he look at his mum
"mum I'm going to need rubbish bags, lots of them" Alice walk out of the room
"mike what is it" Kate asked. Mike pick up hand full of foam bits
"Oh, open the one from Melbourne" Kate asked.
Mike open the smaller box. He smile to what it was. He pull pit of the items out then put them together
"quad stroller" Kate said just as Alice return
"Yes remember we both like this one, so I brought it"
"Oh mike, I love it" Kate said smiling
"quad but you having triplets" Paul said
"fourth one it to help carry all those extra diapers, bags, things like that" mike said
"Good idea, now lets see what Ed sent you both" Paul said, mike, Alice and Paul removed most of the foam bits into big recycling bags
"oh my gosh, I know what this is" Alice said
"what is it" Kate asked
"It a cot"
"she right" Paul said.
Ten minutes later, mike cut the sides of the box and lower the side flap to the ground spilling some of the form onto the floor. Mike move most of the foam away so Kate could see it
"It a bassinet and cot in one" Kate said smiling As she went to stand up. Mike walk over and help her to stand up and step ford so she could touch the cot for the first time
"wow the timber its... cherry" Kate said smiling
"Here there more" mike said removing items from with in the box.
There was a mattress that got a plastic cover over it and items that in light pink. Mike pass it to Kate. She open it and got the items out there was a net cover to cover the cot during the summer months, frill edging all in pink plus there was other items in pink.
"This one for our daughter, check out the other two mike"
"Ok" Mike open the other two, one got light blue items and the other in light green.
"Oh my" Kate said looking at the three cots. Mike walk over and put his arms around her shoulder
"Well at least we don't have to worry about cots" Kate laugh
"i know."
Kate sat down while Paul and mike move the cots and stroller into the nursery and Alice started cleaning up the mess. Paul and mike help clean up. When done mike and Kate show them what baby items they brought.
Later that night Ed called to see how things are. "Dad every thing great, thank you for your gifts, we love them"
"so they arrived ok"
"Yes dad."
"There another package coming in the next couple of weeks"
"Dad the cots are enough"
"Not from me your grand mothers been knitting like crazy since Christmas when you told them about the triplets. They making booties, jackets, even blankets for them"
"I hope they not all pink and blue dad" He laugh
"Green, yellow, colors like that"
"that good to know"
Kate spoke to her dad for twenty minutes then he spoke to mike, Paul and Alice. When they finally hung up they were all grinning.
"Your father sure can be full of surprises Kate" Alice said
"yes he can be"
The next morning Mike and Kate went to spend the morning shopping then they return home with more bags of baby stuff. Then they spent three hours on the bed since Kate was feeling a bit tired. Mike stayed with her till it was time to go. Paul was taking him to the air port. Mike kiss Kate stomach three times then he kiss Kate twice
"love you" Mike said
"love you to mike"
"I'll call when I get home"
"I know you will" they kiss once more before mike got up from the bed and pick up his bag.
He look at Kate once more before walking out of the room so she could get some rest. On the way to the air port Mike spoke to his father about his concerns for Kate and kids. He told his dad about what the doctors said.
"don't worry mike we will look after them and if need any thing happens we will contact cairns NAVCOM"
"thanks dad I'll let commander Jacobson know what happen just in case he has to contact me"
"Good idea"
That night mike when mike arrived home he called Kate and they talk for a few minutes before hanging up. The next day Kate stayed in bed since she was still feeling tired. The only time she got up was to go to the loo. Paul and Alice took meals, snacks and drinks to her.
Couple of times they saw her sleeping so they left her to sleep. Paul told Alice about what mike told him when he return home so Alice under stand with what going on with Kate.
That same day Mike and his captain was in NAVCOM talking to commander Jacobson about there next patrol, when they finish and stood up.
"sir there some thing you should know" mike said looking at the commander
"what that lieutenant commander"
"It about my wife sir. The doctors are concern about her blood pressure and she has to start working part time sooner than plan"
"How bad is her blood pressure lieutenant commander" His captain asked
"doctor said if it not lowered by Friday Kate might have to go into hospital for the remaining of her pregnant"
"How far long is your wife" commander asked
"just over six months with triplets sir"
"alright thanks for telling me this lieutenant commander"
"Yes sir. My parents Paul and Alice Flynn they know to talk to you if there a problem with Kate or the triplets sir"
"I'll make a note of that lieutenant commander"
"Yes sir"
"In the mean time think positive and your job" mike smile
"that what my dad told me sir"
"Good if there nothing else fair winds to you both" they saluted before walking out of the commander office.
"don't worry every thing is going to be ok from what I've heard about your wife she one person not to get on the wrong side of" Mike side
"that true sir" Three hours later Huon left for it patrol.
The next morning Kate walk in to the room where she been working for the past few days. She walk over to the filing cabinet and unlock it with a key that was given to her by the commodore. She open it and got the files she needed out then close the draw.
Then she walk over and put the files on the desk then she turn the computer on before sitting down in her seat. She open the files and look at them and the notes she left from last Friday. Then she got to work once again. Hour later there was a knock on the door and it open.
Kate turn to see commodore Newman walk in. "morning lieutenant"
"Morning sir" He walk over and sat down in a chair close her her desk
"i received letter from doctor Davidson requesting that you cut back your hours"
"He said he was going to sir"
"That is what I'm going to do till further notice"
"Yes sir"
"for this week your start at nine, not eight, plus lunch hour is from eleven to twelve and for you to be out of here by two. And since you got doctor appointment on Friday you can start at ten, lunch at twelve and out of here by three"
"I under stand sir. Hopefully by then I'll be finish with this report and full plans ideas for the project"
"Good, looking ford to reading it lieutenant"
"thank you sir" Then he stood up and walk out of Kate office. Kate return back to work while smiling.
On Thursday afternoon Kate knock on the commander door then walk in since his door was open "Afternoon lieutenant"
"sir"
"what can I do for you"
"Here the files in every thing for project Anzac sir" Kate pass the commodore the files
"thank you lieutenant heading home now"
"Yes sir"
"Ok see you tomorrow
"Yes sir. My in laws will be taking me to the hospital for my appointment in the morning"
"thanks for telling me, enjoy your afternoon"
"i will sir" they saluted each other then Kate turn around and walk out of the office.
The next morning Kate, Paul and Alice walk into the hospital. They walk down to Doctor Davidson office is. The nurse who there saw Kate smile "morning Kate, come with me"
"sure" They walk down and into a room.
Kate manage to sit down while the nurse got the blood pressure cuff. She put it on Kate arm and pump it up then she put the spectroscopy in her ears and the end piece under the cuff. She look at the dial as it slowly goes down then she remove the scope from under the cuff and her ears
"I'll be right back" then she walk out of the room.
Kate let out her breath as she look at Paul and Alice with a worried look. then the nurse and doctor walk into the room "doctor Davidson"
"morning Kate" then he did what the nurse did. When he remove the stethoscope from his ears and put it around his neck
"doctor"
"sorry Kate... I'll have to have you admitted in hospital strait away. Your blood pressure is still high"
"how high"
"One hundred over one fifty. you knew that this might happen"
"i know"
"Stay here and I'll make some calls"
"alright" then he walk out of the room
"Kate I'll go and get you bag" Alice said
"thanks. I'm please I pack it just in case" then Alice walk out of the room
"Excuse me can I make a call" Kate asked looking at the nurse
"sure" the nurse move the phone close to Kate
"Press one then the number"
"thanks" Kate pick up the receiver and made a call
"This is lieutenant McGregor I need to talk to commodore Newman... thank you... commodore Newman, it lieutenant McGregor sir... I call to inform you that doctor Davidson admitting me to hospital... yes sir now... yes it still high... I under stand sir... thank you sir I will..." then she hug up and sat back in the chair
"commodore under stood and he sort out the papers for my early maturity leave"
"that good to know"
"He was pre warn that this might happen" then the nurse walk out of the room after doing some paper work.
"Want me to call Cairns NAVCOM" Kate thought about it.
"Yes thanks, only tell the commander that the doctor admitted me so he can keep an eye on me as for telling Mike... he can do so and to tell him from me that I'm in good hands and remember our little agreement, he would know what I mean" Kate said smiling
"ok. Is there any thing I can you Kate" Kate smile
"I'm fine thanks"
Kate put her hands on her expanding stomach as she look down at it as she move her hands up and down as she felt the kids move around with in her. Few minutes later Alice and nurse return with a wheel chair. She Help Kate to stand up and get into the wheel chair then she wheel Kate down to a room with Paul and Alice following.
"Paul is Kate ok" Alice asked quietly
"No I think mike should be here with her, I know she wish he was here right now but with him out at sea and she knows how important his job is to him"
"I agree, we should let the rest of the family know also"
"We call them tonight"
"good idea, oh and Ed also"
"We should" when they arrived in a private room another nurse is there waiting for them
"Mrs Flynn"
"Yes"
"Ok have you brought a bag with you"
"Here" Alice said putting bag on the bed
"ok lets get you change and settle in"
"We will wait out side" Paul said then he and Alice walk out side closing the door.
Kate got a nightie out then the nurse help her get change while asking normal questions. Once Kate was in bed and arm band put on her wrist she lay back in bed.
"Is there any thing I can get you Mrs Flynn"
"for one call me Kate"
"Ok Kate"
"Second people might call and ask for lieutenant McGregor, that would be me"
"I see your in the navy and McGregor is your maiden name"
"Yes"
"Ok I'll make a note of that. Doctor Davidson will here in couple of hours"
"thank you" the nurse open the door and walk our
"you can go in now"
"thank you" Alice said then she and Paul walk into the room and sat down in chairs that is there and talk to Kate for an hour then they decided to leave since she was starting to fall asleep.
