AN: So change of plans, I'm going to do one shot of Helena's Journey, I wanted to do more but I realize it'll be long. Plus I really want to get to the part with Team Magma. Anyways enjoy the chapter.
Ch 72 Meeting the Sister
The car ride was, to say the least, tense. The Atmosphere was thick that you could cut it with a butter knife. Despite the happy expression from both N and Steven, their eyes told a different story.
Cynthia and Adam gaze up at the rear mirror, seeing both N and Steven were given death glares at each other while Helena was between them.
"I have never seen Steven this…tense before," Adam commented, seeing a new side of his Student he has never seen. His eyes then turn to his newest Student, returning the glares back at him.
The blue and blonde-haired Professor then shifts his eyes to Helena, reading up on Sinnoh and oblivious to the two. "And Helena is oblivious to what's happening between them," Adam commented with a smile,
Cynthia couldn't help but chuckle at what her Rival told her. "Sometimes when a Girl finds something that interests her, she tends to forget what happening around them." The Champion comments as she drove onto a highway leading to Pastoria City.
Helena felt the sudden change on the road, her head turns seeing the base of Mt Coronet. "Oh wow," She looks in awe at the tallest Mountain in the World. "Mt. Coronet is bigger than I initially thought," she commented,
"That's because it is," Helena turns to Steven, hearing him speak. "Mt. Coronet is said to be the tallest Mountain in the World," Steven glares at N with a smirk who was taken aback by the gesture.
"I read about it, but I thought it was exaggerating." Helena scoffs before looking up at Mountain.
N growls before speaking to the Adults, "Cynthia, Professor, is it true that the First Pokemon appeared on top of Mt. Coronet?" His blue eyes shift to Steven, having something that Helena would be in interest.
"Tch," Steven clicked his tongue, knowing Helena would find what N suggested interesting.
Cynthia nodded, hearing the N's question from the back. "Yes, Legend has it that the Alpha Pokemon has descended from his own Dimension and created the World as we know it today." The Champion informed the young trainers.
Helena blinks, hearing Arceus's name. "As in Arceus?"
"That's right, Helena," Adam replied, continuing after the Champion. "Arceus is known as the Father of all Pokemon, but he created three others before he could create our World. Dialga the master of Time, Palkia the master of Space, and Giratina the ruler of the Distortion Realm." The Professor explains to the young trainers behind him.
"Along with the creation of the three Legendary Pokemon, he went on and created what we call the Lake Guardians." Adam continues, seeing Helena was intrigued by the Legend.
"Wow, Sinnoh is filled with many Legends," Helena commented, not noticing N was giving a smirk at Steven.
Soon Cynthia drove off-road, heading to the Marshland area just outside of Pastoria City.
The Jeep continued its bumpy path before ultimately arriving at a Campsite just before a large square opening in the ground.
Cynthia and Adam got out of the Jeep, followed by N and Steven.
Steven held his hand out to Helena, assisting her in coming down from the Jeep. "Helena, here. Allow me to help you." He offered to help her,
"Thank you, Steven." Helena accepted Steven's help as he guided her down to the wet dirt.
Helena looked down, happy that she listened to the Professor and wore some boots. "I'm so glad that I got these boots on before we got here." She smiles,
Steven nodded, sharing her relief. "Same here, that reminds me. I need to change out of my suit," He said, walking behind Cynthia's Jeep.
Helena blinks, watching as the Steel-blue haired trainer took out his suitcase from the trunk. "You brought your suitcase with you?" She asked, seeing him bringing it with him.
Steven smiles, walking up to Helena. "It's a gift from my Father after I became Hoenn Champion." He explains to the black-haired trainer. "It's something that the Devon Corporation has been developing for exploration."
"Exploration?" Helena asked, curious about what sort of exploration gear the Devon Corporation had developed. "Can you show me, Steven?" She asked,
The Hoenn Champion smiles, placing his finger on his lips. "Not just yet, I just need somewhere to change," Steven said as Adam called them over,
"Steven, Helena," The two look at Professor Ceder, standing with N and Cynthia ready to head to the Ruins. "We're waiting for you two," Adame calls out,
"Right, sorry Professor!" The two answer, rushing to the group as they made their way to the Ruins.
Down in the Ruins, a young Lady with dirty blonde hair around her early twenties stood among the Excavators and Researchers with their Pokemon.
She wore a red top that only covers her breast, revealing her abdomen. She wore a red bandana on her head, white short pants that were way above her hips with a red and white cloth tied around. To complete the look, she wore a pair of Pokeball-colored boots that reach above her ankles.
Next to the young Woman was a light blue cat/dog-like Pokemon with a dark blue crystal dangling on both sides of her head. A light blue tail that took a diamond shape at the tip of her tail.
"Okay, let's excavate this area." The young Woman points to the area where boulders remain untouched.
"Yes, Ma'am," The Workers headed to the area where she pointed and began to work there.
"All right, if things are going as, it is now, we should be able to excavate the rest of the Ruins by dusk." The Woman said before seeing a grey-haired Man in a brown trench coat approached her. "Ah, Professor Rowen! What brings you here?" She asked,
"Professor Ceder, I see the excavation is going accordingly to plan." Professor Carter Rowan, Sinnoh's Regional Professor and the Professor who studies Pokemon Evolution/Form changes.
Irina Ceder, a Researcher of Ancient Ruins and caretaker of Snowpoint Temple, and younger Sister to Adam Ceder. "In any case, Cynthia and Steven Stone have arrived with Adam along with his Apprentices."
The dirty blonde Woman smiles, hearing that her Older Brother was home. "That's great, it's been so long since we've last seen him, Professor Rowan-Huh? Apprentices?" Irina asked, curious why he mentioned more than one Apprentice. "I thought Adam has only one Apprentice under his wing?"
"My guess is that Adam-er Professor Ceder has encountered someone who also took a liking to and became his Apprentice." Professor Rowan spoke, assuming that was the case.
"Seems right in my Brother's alley, Professor." Irina smiles before clapping her hands. "Alrighty then, let's meet my Brother of mine." She looks down at her Partner, sitting respectfully next to her. "Ready to go see Adam, Glaceon?"
The Ice-type nodded, feeling like it'd been forever since she last saw Adam and Leafeon. "Glace…" She got up, rearing to reunite with her Brother.
Entering the Ruin's Campsite, Helena was in awe at the many tents and equipment the Research Team brought over. In one corner of the site were large pillars still excavated, and on the other side was a broken shrine.
"So this is what a dig site looks like," Helena said, smiling at the opportunity of a lifetime.
Steven heads off to one of the tents before turning to the black-haired Girl. "I'll be back,"
Helena nodded, watching Steven leave momentarily. "Alright, Steven-hmm?"
N steps next to her, observing the Pokemon that were assisting with the excavation. Based on what he saw, the Pokemon from both the Researchers and the Wild Pokemon don't mind as the People dig up the Ruins. 'The Pokemon, don't mind that the Researchers are digging in their home…' He thought,
Helena looks around before noticing N watching the Researchers and the Pokemon. "Are you okay N?" She asked,
"I'm just curious, do the Pokemon don't care if their home is being disturbed?" N looks at Helena, unsure about this.
"I heard that the Excavation site that Pokemon rarely come to this area," Helena informed the green-haired trainer,
N nodded, now noticing there were no natural inhabitants around the area. "I see," The two turn around, seeing Steven change his clothing to better suit the expedition.
Helena smiles, seeing Steven in the Expedition suit. He wore a teal coat with orange on the inside, a black body suit that showed his toned body, and black boots with his signature Steel-blue coloring. (Pokemon masters EX Sigma suit)
"Wow, that looks cool on you, Steven!" Helena smiles, seeing what Joseph has gifted his Son. The suit was a perfect match for someone like him, "The suit suits perfectly for an Excavation site like this," She said,
"T-Thank you, Helena." Steven blushed, scratching the back of his head. He then cleared his throat, pointing to the two Adults were. "A-Anyways Cynthia and Professor Ceder must be waiting for us, I can see them over there." He said,
Helena looks at where Steven was pointing and saw them talking to another pair of Adults. One was an older Man with grey hair and a mustache and the other with dirty blonde hair with a Glaceon beside her.
Adam had his Leafeon with him and both he and Glaceon were snuggling with each other.
"They must be Friends of the Professor," Helena commented, assuming that was the case. She took out her Pokeball, releasing Kirlia from her Pokeball.
Kirlia appears before Helena, smiling at her as she lifts her up. "Kirlia,"
Helena looks down at her Partner, smiling at her. "Kirlia, are you ready to help me with my Research?" The young Ability User asked her Partner.
Kirlia smiles, raising her arm. "Kirlia!" She then noticed Steven, greeting him after a while. "Kirlia, Kirlia!"
"Heh, hello Kirlia; it's been a while." Steven kneels down, smiling at the Emotion Pokemon. "Let's do our best," He said, seeing her nodding.
N walks forward, heading to where the Researchers are. "Professor Ceder and the others are waiting for us." He said, going to where his Mentor and the others are at.
Helena and Steven followed N, now standing behind the four Adults. "Professor," Helena called out to her Mentor.
Adam turns around, seeing his Students coming over to them. "Ah, Helena, Steven, N, this here is the Head Researchers of this Expedition." The blue and blonde-haired Professor motions his hand to the two new faces.
The three look at the two People that Professor Ceder wants to introduce to them. "This Man is Professor Carter Rowan, he's Sinnoh's Regional Professor and also my Mentor-"
"Hey, don't forget about me, Adam." Helena looks at the dirty blonde-haired Woman who scolds her Mentor, "It's rude to not introduce your own Sister first before the Professor." She pouts at Adam,
"Hai, hai," Adam chuckles, turning to the three once again and introducing the Woman to them. "This Child is my little Sister, Irina-GAH!" The Professor felt the hard punches from Irina for introducing her to his Students,
The three just smile, never seeing their Mentor act like this before. "Uh…Professor Ceder…" Steven chuckles, still seeing their Mentor being pummeled by his Sister.
Helena looks down at Glaceon and Leafeon, who just gave their respective Partners blank stares. "Leafeon and Glaceon look like they are about done with Professor Ceder and his Sister…" She commented.
"You're right," N added, looking at the two Pokemon, "I guess they grew up close to Professor Ceder and Irina that they are used to them bickering…" He said, taking note of how relatively calm these two Eeveelutions are when their Partners were acting childish.
Professor Rowan cleared his throat, "Irina, do remember you haven't introduced yourself to these young trainers." The Regional Professor informed the young Researchers.
Irina looks at Helena and the others, she refines herself before properly introducing herself to the new faces her Brother brought with him. "A-Ahem, sorry about that. It's been a while since I saw Adam here and he introduced me second when you always introduce your Family, right?" She smiles.
"Irina's right, Adam. You should introduce your Sister first." Cynthia smirks at her Rival,
Adam glares at the Sinnoh Champion as his Sister introduced herself to his Students. "Hello, my name is Irina Ceder; I'm a Researcher who studies Ruins and a Temple caretaker in my spare time." She then notices Helena standing in between both Steven and N.
The dirty blonde Researcher approaches Helena, smiling at her. "You must be Helena Potter, my Brother's first Apprentice." She hugged her,
Both Steven and N were taken aback by the sudden affection towards the black-haired trainer.
"I heard a lot of things about you from Adam," Irina said, stepping back from Helena and her Partner. "I'm so excited that I got to finally meet you,"
Helena smiles at the warm welcome she received from her Mentor's Sister. "I am too, I heard a lot from Professor Ceder about you too."
Irina smiles, raising her eyebrow at her Brother to the side. "Really now?"
Adam felt a chill down his spine and saw his Sister's glaring g eyes.
Irina then turns back to Helena, grabbing her hand while she still has Kirlia in the other. "I'm looking forward to working with you, Helena."
"Hmm, me too!" Helena said in response.
Professor Rowan cleared his throat, seeing it was the perfect time to introduce himself. "Ahem, if you're done with your greeting, Irina, then I would like to do the same." The grey-haired Man spoke, approaching Helena and the others.
"Of course, Professor Rowan." Irina winks at Helena and steps aside,
Helena and Kirlia look at the Regional Professor as he introduces herself to them. "Hello, young one, I am Professor Carter Rowan one of the leading Researchers of this Expedition." Professor Rownan introduced himself to the three.
"I-It's a pleasure to meet you, Professor!" Helena respectfully responds to the Regional Professor.
N nodded, walking up to Professor Rowan, and shook his hand. "It's an honor to meet you, Professor," The former King of Team Plasma spoke respectfully. "We're looking forward to assisting with your Research."
Professor Rowan returned the gesture, shaking his hand. "Hmm, a respectful young man." He said, taking a liking to N. "Well, I'm also looking forward to seeing what you all can do." His attention then turns to Steven,
"And I would like to thank you, Mr. Stone, for coming on short notice." Professor Rowan spoke, appreciating that the Hoenn Champion has taken off in his schedule to lend a helping hand.
"It's not a problem when Dad told me you needed someone who knows about Rocks then I offered myself," Steven said, not minding that he came.
Professor Rowan nodded, happy regardless of the situation. "Well, we can discuss this all tomorrow." He said, seeing his Colleagues agree with his decision.
"Tomorrow? I thought we were going to excavate the Ruins when we arrive." Helena asked, thinking that might be the case in her head.
"Kirlia," Kirlia blinks, looking at the Excavation Site, her eyes lowered thinking of the work they need to do if they're going to excavate the Ruins. "Kirlia…"
"Sorry for the misunderstanding, but we're not going to help with the excavation, Helena," Cynthia said, looking at the Excavation Team doing their job. "The Excavation Team has that part covered."
Adam nodded, getting into his Professor mode after the ordeal with Irina. "Our job starts tomorrow when the Site is cleared of the large boulders and becomes secure." The Professor explains to his Students before turning to them. "So for the time being, rest up for the Day, we'll get into the nitty gritty stuff tomorrow,"
Helena looks at Steven and N before answering her Mentor. "Sure thing, Professor."
Irina smiles, walking to the side where the trailers are. "I'm sorry, most of the trailers we brought are full." She explains to the three, showing the trailers. "We got only one trailer for the three of you, so you have to share."
Adam froze, hearing what his Sister said. "Um…Irina, are you serious!?" He asked, seeing some red flags right here.
Irina shrugs, seeing there's no problem, considering that it's a little too late to call in another trailer now. "Look, Adam, the trailers here were from Snowpoint City, and it'll take at least two to three days to get here." She explains to her Brother.
Adam did not like how Helena is going to share a singular trailer with two Boys. Even if he knew those Boys,
"Don't worry, Professor. N and Steven won't do anything." Helena looks at the Boys, standing behind her. "Right?" She asked them.
Both Steven and N blushed, looking away from Helena, innocently asking if they were mature and responsible. "O-Of course, we wouldn't do anything that would hurt Helena or anyone for that matter," Steven said.
"Please, Professor, who do you take us for?" N asked, morbid about the idea of doing something to Helena, his Adopted Sister. "Besides, both Helena and I are Siblings."
Helena turns back to the Professor, seeing that the Boys aren't what he thinks them to be. "See? There's nothing to worry about Professor." She said,
Kirlia looks over to Steven and N, sensing their nervousness is peaking. "Kirlia…"
"Hmmm…alright, I trust you three." Adam gave in, allowing this arrangement to happen.
Later that night, both Steven and N sat down on their beds, their faces were red as Helena was first to take a shower…in the trailer. Steven already took a shower, now wearing a white shirt and blue shorts.
N was waiting for his turn, already prepping his clothes when Helena comes out.
Their Pokemon are sleeping either in the corner of the trailer or in their Pokeballs due to their sizes.
Steven crosses his leg, covering his mouth. "Why do you look like that?" He looks over to N, glaring at him.
"What does that mean?" Steven asked, raising his eyebrow at him.
"Your face, I know what you're thinking," N said, being protective over Helena.
Steven just stares at N, "Look, N, I'm not like that." He stated, having an idea of what he was thinking. "Helena is a close Friend of mine; I will not disrespect her in any way. So stop with your glaring."
N huffs, leaning back on his bed. "So you say,"
"Here's a question, how did Helena come to meet you?' Steven asked the green-haired trainer. "I've been in contact with her since she left Hoenn with Professor Ceder."
N looks at Steven, hearing his question. "I came from a…complicated Family; let's just say she saved me from that situation." He told the Steel-blue-haired Champion, seeing him nod.
The Champion sighs, smiling at Helena helping others. "Ellie is a kindhearted Person, I can understand why she adopted you as her Brother," Steven said, loving that part of her.
"You have that face like before." The former King of Team Plasma said, noticing the same face when both he and Helena were talking, "Tell me, do you have feelings for her?" N asked, seeing the signs between them.
Steven closes his eyes before answering him, "Yes, yes I do." He said, staring at the green-haired trainer. "If you don't like it, then it's too bad. I'm still going to ask Helena to be-"
"That's a relaxing shower." Helena walks out in her pink pajamas, drying her hair. "Gotta say, I'm surprised they have working plumbing in this trailer." She said before looking at the Boys, already done using the shower.
"N, it's your turn," Helena said, walking to her bed to comb her hair.
N stood up, grabbing his green pajamas. "Got it," He looks at N, speaking with his eyes that their conversation will be continued.
Once N got into the bathroom, Helena looks at Steven curious what they were talking about. "So what did you two talk about?" She asked, hearing them speak in the shower.
Steven answers Helena, "It's nothing major, just typical guy stuff." He said, not wanting her to think anything else. "Anyways, we'd better get to sleep. It's going to be a busy Day tomorrow morning." He said, pulling the covers over him.
