CH 26
Week later all four of the kids were in there high chairs. Kate started feeding them soil food. She gave them apple sauce which they all love. While she was talking to them not knowing that there was some one in the door way watching what was happening.
"Ok that is enough I'm prod of all four of you" Kate said them.
Then she turn around when she heard a noise "mike" she put the bowl on the table then she walk over to him wrapping her arms around his neck for a hug and a passionate kiss
"surprise" He said
"you sure full of them, why didn't you tell me you were coming here"
"and what not surprise you"
"your right" they kiss once more then broke apart and turn to there kids who were making a noise
"when did they started eating solids"
"first time today" mike kiss Kate
"I'm please to be here to see it happen"
"I've recorded it, oh the camera" Kate walk over and turn the camera off then she turn to mike
"want to help me feed our kids"
"Why not"
Mike walk in and put his bag on a chair then he walk over and talk to their kids while Kate sorted out baby bottles while they talk about what been happening since they last saw each other. Mike and Kate manage to feed there fours kids and burp them.
Mike spend time with the kids while Kate sorted some food out for lunch for her and Mike. Then she help him take kids up stairs to there room for there afternoon sleep. Then they return back to the kitchen where Mike got them a drink and Kate pick up there lunch and took it out side where they have it next to the pool.
"where mum and dad"
"Gone shopping and having lunch in town"
"Ok, how are you doing Kate?"
"I'm doing ok. I saw commodore Newman couple weeks ago at the hospital when kids had there monthly check up. he asked after you and kids"
"Kate"
"He ask me if I could return to help out few hours a day"
"He got other staff why ask you"
"Over half of the staff asked for a transferred to some place else. I spoke to your parents about it and they said it was fine. So I've been working three, fours hours in the morning five days a week in the past two weeks"
"Why would half the staff want a sudden transferred?"
"I did some checking out... lieutenant commander Duke is the reason be hind it. He been causing problems since my early maturity leave"
"Have you talk to commodore Newman about it"
"Yes I have yesterday. I told him the reasons why others want to transferred. We talk about it and he going to transferred lieutenant commander Duke to some where else. I don't know where though"
"and the ones who want the transferred?"
"commodore hasn't process the papers yet. But hopefully with lieutenant commander gone, it would make things a lot easier for the rest of the staff"
"Sounds like a good idea"
"so how long are you here for?"
"till Tuesday then three week patrol. So I'll be here for Christmas this year" mike said smiling
"that is great news Mike"
When Paul and Alice arrived home they were shock to see mike walking toward there car. "mike"
"hi mum" they both hug
"when did you get here"
"couple hours ago, hi dad"
"This is a surprise Mike"
"I know, here let me help you"
"thanks, where Kate"
"One of the kids woke up"
"Ah" Mike help his parents take groceries in side the house while talking to them.
When Kate walk down stairs she was holding connor in her arms. "Your back" Kate said
"yes, hello sweetie enjoyed your nap" Alice said
"He did" Kate help put things away one handed till they heard crying coming from the monitor
"I'll get who ever it is" mike said as he walk out of the kitchen.
Kate put connor in the living room on a sheep skin and she put a hanging baby toys gym above him. Soon as he saw it he smile and started waving his arms and legs around hitting some of the hanging toys.
Kate knew he will be happy for a while. So she got the other toys set up since she doesn't know who woke up. Then she return back to the kitchen to finish putting things away when mike walk in with Patrick in his arms
"Enjoy your nap sweetie" Kate ask her son
"He did, and he must of known that I was getting him"
"Why that mike" Alice asked
"One smelly diaper" they laugh
"Welcome to father hood Mike" Paul said
"thanks dad, where connor"
"in the living room"
"Ok" mike turn and walk out of the kitchen talking to Patrick.
When every thing done they walk into the living room to see mike playing with the boys just as they heard crying through the baby monitor "sounds like both of our daughters woke up" Kate said as she walk to the stairs.
Mike got up from the floor "I'll help you" Mike said as he follow Kate up stairs.
Later that night when Mike and Kate went to bed. Kate was in the bathroom when mike got into bed. He waited for Kate when the door open. Kate walk out wearing a robe. She turn off the bathroom light before walking to the end of the bed
"Kate are you ok" Mike asked when he saw a look on her face
"Yes" then she bends over and pull the duvet and sheet off mike
"Kate what are you doing" Kate the undid her robe while looking at him
"Rain cheek" she said smiling as she open the robe and slide it off her shoulders and onto the floor.
Kate saw mike look her over as he start to smile remembering what Kate had plan the last time he was there. Kate then got on all fours on the bed then she slowly craw her way up and over mike who was lying down. Kate stop above him then she lower her body against mike then she kiss him which became passionate.
Over an hour later Kate was snuggling up to Mike side with a sheet covering them as they fell into peace full sleep for two hours when one of there kids woke up crying which woke them up as well.
"I'll take care of who ever it is" mike said as he got up and put his robe on
"thanks mike" Kate said as she fell back a sleep.
Mike went to see who it was. When he return few minutes later he got back into bed "mike" Kate said sleepy
"Patrick needed his diaper change"
"Oh" Kate snuggled up to his side and went back to sleep. Mike went back to sleep few minutes later.
The next morning Kate walk to her desk smiling. Every one look at her wondering why she was in a good mood. Kate look at the files on her desk as she sat down putting her hand bag and hat away. Then she got started on the first file of the morning.
At lunch time Kate close the last file after going over it and making some notes when mike walk in and over to her desk "Hey ready for some lunch" Mike asked
"I sure am"
Kate got her hat and bag out of the draw then she stood up pick up a file and walk over to a sailor. She put it on his desk "Make sure that commodore Newman get this please"
"Yes ma'am enjoy the rest of your day"
"thank you" then she turn and walk over to mike
"Shall we" Kate said as they walk out of the room talking about where they wanted to go for lunch.
That afternoon Mike and Kate went swimming in the pool. They both swam number of lengths of the pool then stop for a brake while talking to Paul and Alice. Kids were out side under a gazebo on blanket while playing with there toys. Mike enjoyed his week with this family before returning back to Cairns.
Kate enjoyed working in the morning at Sydney navy base. She was able to find out more from the other staff about lieutenant commander Duke till one morning when Kate arrived at her desk when she heard
"Lieutenant McGregor, my office now please" Kate turn to the commodore so she walk over and into his office.
He close the door behind Kate then walk around and sat down at his desk. "sir you wanted to see me?" Kate asked
"Yes first of all thank you for finding out why staff wanted a transferred to other departments and bases. Cause of your report, yesterday afternoon I've transferred lieutenant commander Duke to Perth"
"Perth sir"
"Yes since they are three lieutenant commanders short"
"Dose he know sir"
"Yes I've inform him last night. He leaves in three days"
"Why are you tell me this sir"
"Can you talk to the remaining staff about staying here. They seem to trust you"
"I'll talk to them sir"
"thank you and I was ask to give you this" He past her an envelope with the navy seal and her name on it.
Kate open it and pulled out the letter and read it. Commodore saw the shock look on her face. Then she look up at him as she smile "I'm on the list for the Anzac project training which started next month at Watson bay"
"Congratulation lieutenant"
"thank you sir"
"Things won't be the same with out you here"
"I under stand sir"
"you may return back to work"
"thank you sir" Kate saluted the commodore before walking out of his office.
That afternoon when she arrived home the house phone rang so she answer it "Hello"
"Kate"
"Mike"
"i thought I'll catch you at home"
"Oh where are you"
"Canberra, fleet command wanted to see me"
"Ok any idea why"
"not yet, but I'll let you know tonight"
"Ok I got the tickets for tomorrow"
"Great, look my ride here talk to you tonight"
"ok mike, love you"
"love you to" Then they hung up.
When the car mike was in drove to Canberra navy base. He walk down to fleet command office. When he arrived there a lieutenant showed mike into admiral office.
"Lieutenant commander Flynn, I'm please you can make it this is commander Ellis"
"Sir" mike said as they shook hands
"Please sit down" They both sat down
"I ask you both here for a reason. Next year I want you both be instructors for project navy course at Watson bay"
"Project sir what the name of the project" Ellis asked
"It the Anzac project" the admiral pass them both files.
They open it up and read what it says "You both got the skills we need for part of the course and you both will be working together"
"Why that sir" Mike asked reading about it
"Cause there are twenty lieutenants and new promoted lieutenant commanders will be doing the course"
"Have you got the list of names on who doing the course sir" commander Ellis asked
"Yes I do" he pass the commander the list of names.
He read them then pass them to mike. When mike look at the list he saw Kate name down. He wondering if she knew that she on the list or not.
"sir there going to be a problem" Mike said looking up at the admiral
"Problem lieutenant commander?"
"Yes it a name you got on the list, lieutenant Kate McGregor"
"Do you know her" Admiral asked
"yes sir, she my wife" commander turn to mike in shock and the admiral raise his eye brows
"I see and the problem"
"If the others lieutenants know that Kate my wife they would think I would favor her over them"
"would you do that lieutenant commander"
"No sir and to make it easier sir is that commander Ellis mark her paper work and scores. Then there no favoritism"
"commander would you mark lieutenant McGregor work"
"Yes I will sir since I under stand where lieutenant commander Flynn is coming from"
"Very well" they talk for another ten minutes before walking out of the admiral office.
"Lieutenant commander" Mike stop and turn to the commander
"what is lieutenant McGregor like"
"you will find out sir if you want to read her profile next month when we get together I can show you it"
"Ok see you next month"
"You to sir, have a merry Christmas"
"You to" then they went there separate ways.
When Mike arrived in Sydney, he smile when he saw Kate greet him at the air port. "mike"
"Kate" they hug and kiss.
"Is every thing alright Mike"
"Yes it is, let's go and see the family"
"Ok" they walk to where mike could pick up his bags since he still in his uniform
"how the kids"
"Growing up so fast, we need to buy them new clothes"
"Your joking"
"I'm not mike and they eating a lot now"
"That good, I suppose they crawling"
"Yes and standing up but still holding onto things. Soon they will be walking"
"I've miss out on so much Kate"
"I know" Mike and Kate talk about other things till Kate pulled up in the drive way.
They both got out and mike got his bags out before Kate lock the car up then they walk into the house to be greeted by Paul, Alice, Jane, Kelly and there families. Mike went to put his bags away and got change then he return back down stairs to see kids in there high chairs getting ready for dinner.
Kate pass mike spoon and a plate "Kate"
"your turn to feed the kids, have fun" she kiss him then turn around and walk back into the kitchen while his sisters laugh at him
"Have fun Mike" Kelly said
"Gee thanks" He walk over and sat down looking at his kids who looking at him
"ok who hungry" Kids grin and started moving there arms and legs around while making funny noises
"Ok, ok"
Family watch as mike feed each of them not knowing that Jane was recording mike feeding his kids. When finish Mike turn to Kate who pass him a drink then took plate out of his hand
"good job mike"
"Thanks" then he turn to the kids at start talking to them and his family while he was having his drink.
Hour late mike and Kate carry there kids up stairs to there room after they had there bottle for the night. Mike and Kate change there kids clothing and diapers before putting them to bed.
Then They kiss each of the kids good night then Kate turn the baby music on before she and mike walk out closing the door behind them then they return back down stairs with the dirty clothes and diapers.
Once they were sorted out they return back to the kitchen where Kate help Alice with dinner.
The next morning Mike and Kate took there kids to the air port with them since the six of them were flying to Brisbane. Mike and Kate manage to carry car seats that the kids are in as well baby bags onto the plane. Once the kids sorted out they were able to sit down them selves before take off.
When they landed in Brisbane Mike and Kate walk off the plane carrying the kids car seats and baby bags. They walk over to where a staff member walk over to them with the stroller.
"Mr Flynn"
"Yes I'm Mike Flynn"
"Ticket please"
Mike put the car seats on the ground then he pulled out a ticket from his pocket and pass it to the guy. The guy check then ticket to one on his clip board and the one attach to the stroller.
Then he pass the ticket back "It all in order sir you and your family enjoy your stay in Brisbane"
"We will thank you" Kate said.
Then the guy turn and walk away. Mike put the kids car seats into there places in the stroller and diaper and bottle bag under the carriage then he push the stroller to the exit with Kate next to him. They called for a taxi van cause of the kids.
When it arrive, Mike and Kate took care of the kids while the driver took care of the stroller. Few minutes later they were on there way to there designation. When they arrived and got out. Mike put kids in the stroller while Kate took care of the baby bags.
Once done and the fair paid for. Kate push the stroller towards the doors with mike in front so he could open the doors for Kate. Once they were in side Kate follow mike down to a room. He gave Kate hand signal so she stop. Mike step ford and poke his head in the room then he turn to Kate and shook his head
"Try the lounge" Kate said
"good idea"
Kate follow mike down to the lounge when they close Kate stop while mike look in the lounge and he gave Kate a hand signal before walking in
"hi grand dad"
"mike" connor said in shock when he turn around then smile Mike walk over and bend over to give him a hug
"This is a surprise. Is every thing ok"
"Yes grand dad" He gave Kate a nod
"Why are you here"
"Connor" Kate said. Connor turn around and was shock to see Kate but what shock him the most was when Kate push the stroller into the room and over to him.
The other residents saw the shock look on his face. "Oh my... is this them" Connor asked Mike
"Yes grand dad" Kate push the stroller to where Mike and Connor is.
Mike turn and bend over to remove the straps from the front two while Kate got blanket out and place it on the floor. Then mike got the first one out of the stroller and place him on the floor while Kate undid the straps of the other two. Mike got the second one out and place her onto the floor while Kate got the third one out and place her onto the floor then mike got there daughter out and place her on the floor while Kate got couple of there toys out of a bag and place them onto the floor.
"They have grown" Connor said
"Yes they growing up fast."
They all saw kids get on there hands and knees then start crawling while looking around. One of the babies crawl towards connor. Then they grab on to his leg pants and pull them selves up till they were standing. Connor smile as he look at the little one who smiling back.
"Hello there I'm your great grand pa" Baby made a noise while smiling at him.
Mike notice the other three were crawling to other residents and doing the same. "Connor who are these beautiful babies" one resident asked
"These are my great grand children. This is my only grand son Mike Flynn and his wife Kate"
"You got goriest babies, Mike Kate" another resident said smiling at them
"thank you ma'am" Mike said
"what there names" another resident asked
"One in blue is connor, one in green is Patrick. One in pink is Grace and one in yellow is Mary" Kate said
"so your the surprise little one Mary" Connor said smiling at her
"What do you mean Connor" one of the residents asked
"I was expecting triplets, the ultra sound only showed three babies till the day I gave birth" Kate said
"that is a surprise" one resident said
"Yes it was, but Mike and I are happy and our family complete"
"How long have you been married for?" one resident asked
"Seven years next month" Mike said
"Why waited so long to start a family?" another resident asked
"Cause of my studies, training and medical problems" Kate said
"What do you do Kate"
"I'm lieutenant in the navy"
"your navy, so was i" one guy said
"Really sir"
"Yes retired chief petty officer at your service ma'am"
"how long where you in the navy for sir" Mike asked
"Forty years, been through three wars"
"world war 2, Koran and Vietnam wars" Kate asked
"Yes"
"Woo some one need there diaper change" one of the resident said Mike got up from the floor and walk over and pick the baby up
"woo you do need changing sweetie" He walk over to where Kate is.
Kate got every thing out just as mike sat on the floor laying there baby down. The residents watch as mike change the diaper "Do you use cotton diapers" one of the residents asked
"Yes we do at home, we only use these disposables one when we are out for a day trip like today and it cheaper since there four bottoms to change" Kate said
"Woo Grace talk about timing" Kate turn to mike
"what happen"
"she decided to have a pee before I remove the smelly diaper away" Every one laugh
"Well at least it not like what Patrick did the other day" mike laugh
"what did Patrick do" connor asked
"Peed on mike after he had his bath" Kate said smiling making every one laugh
"don't worry Mike, you did that to me when you were there age" connor said causing another round of laughter
"what going on in here, why all the laughter" they turn to see two residents walk in and stop at the site before them
"Oh my" one of the said
"Come and join the fun" Connor said the two walk in and sat down
"They are goriest, what that smell"
"Mike changing Grace dirty diaper" connor said
"Ah"
When Grace was change Mike tickle her stomach which cause her to giggle then roll onto her stomach then she was on her hands and knees crawling to the two residents that walk into the room.
They talk for the next hour till it was lunch time. Kate and mike put there kids back into the stroller before they walk with Connor down to the dinning room then they part ways for an hour.
Mike and Kate left and walk down to the shop where the brought some lunch then down to the park where they feed there kids yoghurt and some banana for there lunch. Then mike and Kate let them crawl around on the ground while they eat there lunch since it was a warm day out side.
After lunch they put there kids back in the stroller and clean up before walking back to the rest home. They stop off at the park toilets so they could take care of the rubbish and been to the loos them selves before leaving the park area.
When they return to the rest home they spent the next three hours talking to connor and some of the residents while kids were sleeping. When it was time to leave Mike and Kate gave Connor a hug before they left with the kids.
