CH 32
When he arrived back in cairns he took a taxi home where he knew it going to be lonely with out Kate and their kids. When he arrived home he sorted out his bags, his uniform and other things before going into town to get some dinner and returning back home for the night.
The next morning Mike walk into the ball pen he look around and smile when he saw who there so he walk over to him "commander Marshall" the commander turn around and smile
"Lieutenant commander Flynn" he said smiling as they shook hands
"come into my office"
"sure" they walk into Steve office and sat down
"how your family"
"Great, Kate on HMAS Stewart for one patrol the lieutenant she temporary replacing got appendicitis and Kate was the only lieutenant available"
"That in Perth if I'm right"
"Yes it is"
"ok how the kids"
"Growing up fast. Steve I received letter from fleet command that I've been transferred back here"
"that right" Steve pick up a file and past it to mike.
Mike open the file and read what it said then look up to Steve "Hammersley"
"Yes you going to be her last captain till her decommission in five years" Mike read more about it then he look up at Steve.
"five years"
"Yes. There a list of crew members who on board, knowing you, you would check them out"
"I will, when dose Hammersley leave for it patrol"
"Thursday for two weeks"
"Thanks for telling me Steve"
"Mike I know it cut your shore leave short since you only return just over two weeks ago from your tour over seas"
"I know I was looking forward to spending all that time with Kate and our kids then we get pulled away again" Mike said letting out his breath
"It hard on all families Mike"
"i know Steve" Mike stood up
"thanks for the information"
"come in Thursday morning and I'll interduce to your XO"
"alright, see you then" mike turn and walk out of Steve office.
Mike walk over to a computer and sat down. He check out each of the crew members before leaving to return home where he called his parents to let them know about his transferred to Hammersley and for how long. Then he sent Kate an e-mail about his posting and for how long it going to be and what boat he will be on.
On Wednesday afternoon mike walk on board Hammersley he was greeted by two of the crew members who on duty watch. Mike interduce him self as the new captain and talk to the two sailors for few minutes before walking down and into the captain cabin. Where he sorted out his things and look around the ship before returning back home.
The next morning he walk in to the ball pen and over to Steve office. "Morning Steve"
"Mike" they shook hands.
"Lieutenant commander Mike Flynn, this is lieutenant Miles your XO"
"Lieutenant" mike said holding his hand out
"sir" they shook hands Before mike sat down where they talk about the FFV and other things before leaving Steve office for there first patrol.
Mike remembered that the lieutenant been on Hammersley for two patrols before the previous captain got promoted and transferred to a frigate leaving Hammersley with out a captain. Two hours later Hammersley left port for two week patrol with mike sitting in the captain chair.
The next day Kate check her e-mail messages, she saw one from her dad and from mike. So she open mike one first since the subject got transferred to Cairns. Kate read his e-mail about him being on Hammersley and for how long and that he misses her. So she replied back to him letting him know that she miss him to and ask for date for when he in port and for how long.
When she sent that message she got enough time time to read her father message. He asked her what sort of dream house she would love to have. Kate smile knowing that twice a year he keep asking her so since she had time after she return back from her tour over seas she started designing her family dream home.
She luck she did it on her own lap top at home while kids were at day care and Paul and Alice went out for the day. So it gave her few hours to design her dream home. So since she got it in a file in her e-mail box she decided to send what she got to her father with a message so it would keep him happy. When done she log off then left to get some dinner before the beginning of her watch.
Few hours later in England Ed check his e-mails. He saw one from Kate which made him smile so he open the e-mail and read what Kate has to say since last time he heard from her was the day she went to pick mike up from the docks since HMAS Darwin return from it tour over seas.
He smile when Kate mention in her e-mail that she did up a ruff design of her family dream home. So he click onto the attachments and brought up her design so he copy the attachments to a pen drive that he put in the port. Once done he e-mail her back before making some phone calls.
The day the HMAS Stewart return back from it first patrol the captain was having problems dealing with a lieutenant commander, a lieutenant, petty officer and Kate during the patrol. Some how each of the crew manage to get on the wrong side of Kate and she try to deal with the problems her self in resulting the captain having to step in to sort it out and write up the reports about the problems, every thing.
After sorting every thing out he relies what sort of officer Kate is and the arguments she had with the lieutenant commander and the lieutenant were worse since they broken number of protocols, with the petty officer it his first time he lead boarding since his promotion a week before being transferred to a frigate when he spent two years on a sub as leader.
The lieutenant commander has harsh words with him when Kate intervene to sort the mess out and spoke to the petty officer which he told Kate that it was his first boarding so she asked him questions which he answered so she got a better under standing about his previous posting and promotion. She gave him some advice which help him the next time he done boarding.
With the lieutenant commander he wasn't happy that Kate interfered with the talk between the lieutenant commander and the petty officer, resulting the lieutenant commander having a go at Kate since they both were also on the boarding party.
As for the lieutenant, Kate had hash words with him since he broke number of rules and protocols which she reminded him. The captain read both the lieutenant and lieutenant commander reports about what happen then he read Kate before signing therm then he read other paper work before leaving to see commodore Taylor about the first patrol.
When he finish all the paper work he then left to see the commodore. When he was in the commodore office and siting down they talk about the patrol and what happen with the boardings. When they finish talking the captain sat back in his seat as he relax a little.
"Captain from what you told me about lieutenant McGregor sounds like she got a temper problem"
"No sir not a temper problem"
"Oh from what you told me"
"I know what I said sir, lieutenant McGregor is one of the best officers I've ever work with, she a rule sticker sir from what I've seen she knows the rules, the protocols and she never broken them once and she good at sorting out problems between the crew"
"What about lieutenant commander" Captain let out his breath while shaking his head a little
"He try to be a hero, a cow boy why doing boardings. He broken two, three rules each time. I've given him two warning about it but I'll see how he goes since it the first time I've serve with him"
"Out of the lieutenant commander and lieutenant McGregor who would you have serve with you"
"Lieutenant McGregor with out a dough"
"what about lieutenant Murray?"
"He got a lot to learn. Lieutenant McGregor spoke to him and gave him advice and encouragement which help him"
"Ok" they talk for another twenty minutes before captain walk out of the commodore office.
At that same time Kate boarded a plane heading to Cairns since Hammersley was due in port late that afternoon. Kate was looking forward to spending few days with mike before he leaves for his next patrol and she flying back to Sydney in time for her to return to the HMAS Anzac.
Later that afternoon Kate was on the wharf when Hammersley return from it patrol. Kate smile and wave when she saw Mike up on the top deck waving to her. Kate watches as Hammersley dock and every thing else done before the crew started walking off the ship. Kate smile as Mike walk off Hammersley and into her arms for a hug and kiss
"miss you" Kate said smiling
"miss you to, how long are you here for"
"till you leave for your next patrol"
"One night" mike said
"I know it better than nothing mike"
"True, look I got to go to NAVCOM for a briefing, why don't I meet you at home" They saw a car pulled up not from from them
"Ok I'll wait for you, cause I got plans for us tonight"
"Have you now" Mike said smiling
"Yes see you then"
"ok" they kiss once more before mike walk over and got into the car.
Kate wave to mike before she walk towards the security guard house while getting her phone out of her bag and making a phone call.
Hour later mike walk into his house and up stairs and into his bedroom when he heard the shower turn on. So he put his sea bag on the chair and he removed his uniform and underwear. Then he walk over and push the door open and smile when he saw Kate in the shower looking at him
"Are you coming in"
Mike walk in closing the door behind him then stepping forward when Kate open the door for mike. He step into the shower closing the door behind him then they wrap there arms around each other and kiss. They made love in there as well wash each other then hour and a half after mike step in the shower they were in bed making passionate love once again.
Later that night they got up and dress then they went out to Chinese restaurant for dinner and walk along the beach since there was a full moon. Then they return back to the house where they spent the rest of the evening in bed making love again before falling asleep in each other arms.
The next morning Kate and mike hug and kiss before Mike left home since he got morning briefing before Hammersley leaves for a month patrol. Kate left that afternoon to fly back to Sydney at the same time Ed and couple of his staff arrived at hotel in Cairns.
When Kate arrived home she was greeted by her kids with hugs and kisses then she gave Alice a hug "How was the kids"
"Handful" Alice said laughing
"Let me guest just like mike when he was there age"
"Yes but they got you temper, Mike I can handle but four of them, they sure full of energy and they know how to keep Paul and me on our toes" Kate smile
"I bet they do, well I'm home for how long I don't know so at least I can help you take care of them where Paul?"
"Gone to the R.S.L meeting up with some old navy mates who in town for couple of days"
"Ok, I'll go and take care of my bags then I'll take over looking after the kids"
"that would be great Kate"
Kate went up stars to take care of her bags then she return back down stairs where she play with her kids out side since it was a fine day while Alice went and get dinner on.
Later that night after kids were in bed sleeping Alice and Kate sat down to dinner. They talk about how things are Kate patrol spending a night with mike before returning back to Sydney.
Later that night Paul staggered in to the kitchen "honey I'm home" Alice turn to him
"I know I can smell you from here" he walk over and kiss her cheek while she made him a brew
"Enjoyed your self Paul"
"Yep sure did. The guys haven't change much still trying to out do each other" He said smiling as Alice pass him his cup of coffee
"thanks" he took a sip of the drink
"Care to tell us what happen"
"us who here"
"Kate return this after noon" Alice said as she walk out of the kitchen so he follow her into the living room
"hey your back" Kate raise her eye brows
"It looks like you enjoyed your self tonight" Kate said
"Yeah" he and Alice sat down
"Paul you said that that guys trying to out do each other" Alice asked
"Yeah about there sons following in there foot steps"
"Really and I suppose you had to join in" Alice raise her eye brows at him
"Yes I told them that mike join up and where he is, they laugh saying that it not the way to climb the ranks. I told them that he is happy and that is what important and he loves being out at sea being where the action is"
"what did they say to that" Kate asked
"They laugh cause there sons are same rank is mike and are on frigates"
"Ok"
"I told them about you Kate"
"you didn't" Alice said
"Yep they started teasing me about it till I asked them all same questions about there sons"
"what questions" Kate asked
"I ask if any of there boys won any awards at ADFA they said no except for one he said his son won the sward award, that shock the others and my self... I said that mike won two awards but Kate she she did better that you Joe, he laugh he said that the there nothing higher than a sward award. I said that true but Kate won not only the sward award but every awards that the ADFA got plus she got the highest marks in history" Paul said grinning while he drinking his coffee
"I bet they were shock" Alice said
"Shock one of them ask me...Wait a minute you telling us that this Kate is none other that Kate princess perfect McGregor... I said yes she my daughter in law oh she also top of her classes at Watson bay including the Anzac project course she attended to and she was on the HMAS Anzac when she did her tour over seas. That shut them up"
"I be it did" Alice said. They talk for the next half an hour before they went to bed since it was getting late and kids are awake early.
The next morning Kate was up early she went to see if her kids were awake, when they were, they were either starting to sit up as they rub her eyes while yawning it standing up in there cribs smiling at Kate.
"Who need to pee"
"Me" Connor and grace said
"Ok" Kate got then out of of there cots and into the bathroom.
She help Connor first since they starting to use the toilet, but there a step and a smaller toilet seat they goes over the normal seat. Once they both been and wash there hands, Kate got Mary and Patrick next. Once they both been Kate tells them they she proud of them while she got them dress then she made there beds before walking out of the room and down stairs quietly so Paul and Alice could sleep in for once.
Kate get them in there high chairs then she started cooking them breakfast while talking to them. She cook up scramble eggs and toast for breakfast then she cut up the toast and put them on the high chair trays then a bowl of scramble eggs. When they start eat them she got there sipper cups and filled it with juice then she put it in front of them as well.
Then she got her own breakfast. Kate watch them eat as she eat her own breakfast. When she finish her's she got kids morning snacks sorted out then clean up each of the kids and get them out of there high chairs and clean up there messes. Once done and the dishes in the dishwasher. Kate left a note of the fridge door before she and kids walk out side and over to her car.
Fifteen minutes later Kate drop the quads off at day care and she pass one of the teachers a bag that got kids morning tea in it and she gave them all hugs and kisses before they ran over to where there friends are. Kate left to go into town to do some shopping including getting kids new clothes since they growing up fast.
At lunch time when Kate arrived home with the kids, they ran in side soon as Kate put them on the ground. She smile as she watch them run into the house yelling out for Alice or Paul.
While kids were looking for Alice and Paul Kate manage to get all the shopping bags out of the car and walk into the house where she could hear laughter coming from some where in the house. Kate manage to put all the bags on the chairs at the breakfast bar and on the bench.
Then she started putting things away when she heard the quads running into the kitchen "Mummy we found grand ma and grand pa" connor said smiling
"that great I bet all that running around made you hungry"
"Ah ha" Kids nodded
"Ok, lunch is ready" Kate pick each of the kids up and put them in there high chairs then she past them there lunch when Alice and Paul walk in
"Enjoy your sleep in" Kate asked as she pull three subway rolls out of a bag and put them on the breakfast bar
"Yes we must of needed it. When I woke up and saw the time I race out of bed and into the kids bedroom when I saw that they were empty I went down stairs and check the fridge door when I saw your note. I relax knowing that you took care of them" Alice said
"She told me when she return back to our bedroom" Paul said while Kate made a drink for the three of them
"what time did you wake up" Kate asked Passing them there drinks then start to make hers
"After nine" Alice said
"you both must of needed it"
"We did, I see you been shopping" Alice said when she saw the bags
"Yes I notice the kids almost grown out of there clothes so I brought them new clothes" Kate said as she walk around and sat down at the breakfast bar with her drink since Paul and Alice were also sitting at the bar having there sub way roll and drink for there lunch
"you will have to buy them new clothes each week Kate"
"I know" Kate turn to see kids were eating happily so she turn around and unwrap her roll while talking to Alice and Paul.
When kids finish there lunch, Kate gave each of them half a cookie each which they love while she, Paul and Alice ate a whole cookie. After lunch Paul took kids out side to play for an hour before putting them to bed for there afternoon naps. Kate showed Alice the clothes she brought the kids before removing the tags and taking them into the laundry room so they could be wash.
Four days later Kate was back on the HMAS Anzac, they left for three week patrol. The captain and his XO welcome her back first then the other crew members did.
Over the next four months Mike saw Kate and kids twice, He miss them a lot, when he did see them he and Kate went shopping for kids clothes together since Kate was doing all the buying since mike wages were going on the rent, power, gas for the house where he is.
But he dose send some money to Kate to give to his parents since Kate and kids are living with them, which they didn't except so Kate brought food and even put fill there car up with petrol with out them knowing about it, even paid the pool cleaner and garden businesses when the bills come in with out letting Paul and Alice know.
But they knew and told mike and Kate off for it but after mike and Kate spoke to them, they came to the agreement which makes every one happy.
Mike couldn't make it for Christmas since Hammersley is out on patrol over Christmas new year plus he won't be there to spend his seventh wedding anniversary with Kate.
Kate spent Christmas with Paul, Alice there the family. Her father was planing on coming over but he had to cancel cause he ended up in hospital with breathing problems which turn out to be Asama.
Mike called and talk to Kate Christmas morning which she was surprise and happy to hear from him. Last time Mike was in Sydney which was at the beginning of November he and Kate took kids to the hair dressers since Mike needed to get a hair cut so Kate thinks it was a good time to get the boys there hair cut and girls and her hair trim.
Then after they been to the hair dresser they went to get a family photo of the six of them done since it going to be Christmas gift to there families. Kate was please she pack the good clothes knowing what her kids are like. While at the photographer work shop she and mike change there kids into there good clothes then she and mike got change before having the photos done.
There was one of the six of them, then there was kids individual as well group photo and there one of Mike and Kate together. When done and they all change back into there normal clothing before leaving to get some lunch.
Kate recorded the families reaction when they open there gifts from Kate and mike. They love the family photo of the six of them which made Kate happy.
When Connor open the box he smile when he pick up the frame photo. "who that connor" one of the staff asked him
"that my grand son Mike, his wife Kate and my great grand children, connor, Patrick, Grace and Mary" He said pointing to each of them.
"Are they quads"
"Yes they are, my son told me they just like there father at there age with there mother temper."
"Really, they do look happy"
"Yes they are... that them on there wedding day" he pointed to the wedding photo on the wall
"How long have they been married for"
"coming up seven years next month"
"Seven years"
"Yeah" he look down at the photo while smiling at it.
Ed and Kate grand parents also received the same frame photo. They couldn't believe how much the kids have grown and who they look like.
On the fourth of January Paul took the kids to day care since Kate was talking to mike on the phone. Just after she hung up there was a knock on the door so she went to see who it was.
When she open the door "Hello"
"Hi Kate Flynn"
"Yes I'm Kate Flynn"
"Can you sign this please" the guy past Kate clip board and pen so she sign where he show her where to sign then past it back to him
"I'll be back ma'am" then he turn around and walk quickly back to the van
"Kate who at the door" Alice asked as she stop next to Kate
"some delivery guy" then they saw him open the side door and pick some thing up and step back turning side ways as he close the door then turn to the house
"Oh my gosh Mike must of sent them to you" Alice said in shock
when she and Kate saw the guy carrying two dozen long stem red roses with heart shape helium balloon saying 'happy anniversary' and another got the number seven on it when they guy stop in front of Kate he pass them to her
"Here you go ma'am happy anniversary"
"thanks" he turn around and walk back the way he came.
"wow Kate how are you going repay back Mike" Kate smile
"I got it all plan for when I leave tomorrow, we both know what mike is like"
"True"
the next day Kate flew to Cairns in the morning. That afternoon she went shopping for the items she going to need to surprise Mike for when he arrived home the next day.
The next morning Kate watch from a distances when Hammersley dock and the crew left the ship for there shore leave so she left to return back to the house. She went and get every thing set up then she waited by the window for Mike to arrive home. When she did see him she walk away from the window and get ready.
When Mike walk into the house he walk to the stairs and up them then down hall way till while unbuttoning his shirt and pulling it out from his pants. he stop out side his door. He open it and walk in then stop and drop his bag in shock at the site before him.
He took few steps forward then stop at the end of the bed. Lying on the over turn bed was Kate lying naked covered heart shape slice strawberries dip in chocolate on her stomach from her belly button up under her breasts. And whip cream in the middle done in number seven. Then he saw other items of food over parts of her body. Then he saw two flue glasses and ice bucket on her side of the bed. Plus other foods.
"Kate... wow"
Kate smile he walk around and sat on the side of the bed, he bend over and kiss her then when he could feel some thing in his mouth and it wasn't just Kate tongue, then he could taste chocolate. When they broke apart he could still feel the chocolate in his mouth
"different mike"
"Yeah and this, wow" He said looking down her body then back up to her face
"Why don't you get out of your uniform then come back to eat me" Kate gave him that sexy look as she lick her lips
"Oh I will eat you alright Kate"
He kiss her once more before getting up and walking over to the closet as he remove his clothes. Then he return back to his side of the bed and look at Kate and what she done
"Hmm where should I start"
"any where"
Mike started kissing Kate body as he started eating and licking the items off Kate. He did stop and went to kiss Kate sharing some of the food items with her. Plus he even pour the champagne that Kate brought the day before, they both drink some of it while Mike was enjoying what he was doing to Kate body. When it was all gone he lay on top of Kate and kiss her passionately
"Hmm if that was desert, I wounder what the main" Kate laugh
"Well there are other foods, there cheese and crackers, more fruits, chocolates and others"
"Mmm our own private picnic in bed, I like that"
"I know you would Mike so you like your welcome home surprise"
"I sure do" then he kiss her once again.
They spent the whole day in bed drinking the last of the champagne plus having apple juice and eating all the food that Kate got set up in the bedroom. That night they showered together since some of the orange juice that mike squeeze on to Kate before licking it off got a bit sticky on her skin. After they showered and got back into bed, they made love once again before falling asleep in each other arms.
