Neo Metal Sonic raced towards his opponents. Sonic tried to knock him back with a Spindash, but his mechanical double swats him away with his arm. The blue speedster crashed against the steel of bridge´s architecture. Ruby and Tails had to dodge the machine´s attacks, the slashes of the steel claws missing them by an inch. The fox and human positioned themselves to the left and right of the robot and started firing, but Neo Metal Sonic used his Black Diamond Shield to block their shoots. Ruby´s grab on her weapon laxed, as she was both surprised about this counter and what to do about it, but Tails yelled: "Keep at it. He can´t keep it up forever. Even in this form his shield has a time limit."
The huntress-in-training nodded and fastened the pace of her shots. She aimed with her Sniper at the top and the bottom, hoping that the pointed end where weaker and would give out earlier than the rest. Tails meanwhile was switching constantly from fire to lighting.
Neo Metal Sonic looked around him. He knew that the Mobian was right and he couldn't keep his defense forever. But he didn't need to. The killer robot waited for the right moment, when Tails was busy switching modes and Ruby had just fired a shot, and he charged up an attack. The Black Diamond Shield dissolved and the gun users had to dodge the electrical bolts surging from Neo Metal Sonic. Tails rotated his namesakes and flew around the lighting in the air, both Neo Metal Sonic dashed forwards and grabbed the fox by his twin tails. He held him upside down in front of his face and raised his claws. Blue eyes widened in fear. A brief memory when Metal Sonic, alongside Infinite and the other villains attacked him and Sonic. And he wasn´t the only one who got flashbacks.
"TAILS!", Ruby yelled. For a second her body stiffened, she saw yet again Pyrrha in front of her, before Cinder´s arrow pierced and burned her. Unable to be quick enough to help her. But then Ruby blinked and she was back in the present. Back to a place and time in where she was still able to protect her friends. Her eyes hardened in determination as she started running. Neo Metal Sonic, his claw ready to slash at Tails, picked up a mechanical shifting with his sensors and turned around, catching Crescent Rose´s blade just as it finished turning into a scythe. The killer robot held the weapon firmly in place with his strength, his cold red eyes staring into Ruby´s silver ones full of life.
"The dual weaponry of Remnant may be enough to fight against the Grimm. But I am a being of superiority. I am Sonic the Hedgehog. The only true one!"
"You know that makes actually no sense, right? You know YOU are the robot clone!"
The cold glare hardened further.
"Silence! I am everything Sonic defines improved. The true version, proven by my superiority!"
His arms were crackling with electricity, but before Neo Metal Sonic could unleash his attack, the real Sonic dashed him away with a Boost. Tails was released and dropped to the ground. Sonic made sure that his little brother was okay and then dressed his human friend.
"Hey Ruby, sorry that you and Tails had to deal with him alone. I had been knocked out for a bit. But thanks for holding him put and also make him give an answers for the whole `I am the true Sonic´ shtick."
"No problem, but…" She looked down. "I couldn't stop him from hurting Tails…"
"Ruby." The speedsters gaze went to the double tailed fox. He had gotten back to his feet. "This his how battles work. People get hurt… remember unpleasant things… but you still stopped Metal from doing more harm. You got my back-" Tails let of some fiery shots. Ruby and Sonic dodged sideways so that Neo Metal Sonic, who had tried a surprise attack, got burned. "-and I got yours."
Sonic gave a thumps up and Ruby just smiled at her friends.
"I… you´re right. Thank you."
Neo Metal Sonic just groaned in irritation and wiped the soot from him.
"Together you stand and together you fall."
Tails and Ruby aimed their weapons toward the mechanical hedgehog. Sonic took a battle ready pose, a smirk on his face.
"Says you! Have you forgotten: It was teamwork that defeated you. GO!"
The trio went for the attack.
Sonic and Tails charged up a Spindash. The latter used his namesakes to grab hold of the blue orb. The Double-Spindash flew towards Neo Metal Sonic. He had to use both his hands to hold them in place which was when Ruby got active. She had waited back a bit, trying to find out what her friends would try against their opponent. Now she aided them by running around Sonics doppelgänger and shot him from several directions. Neo Metal Sonic´s hold weakened. He growled and wanted to charge up another electrical attack, but the human girl managed to get a lucky shot: A cyan laser hit the killer robot right in the gab of his elbow joint. The arm gave away and Neo Metal Sonic was thrown back by the Double-Spindash. He slithered over the street, his though metal exterior protecting him from abrasions. Still, his vision flickered for a moment from the sheer force of Sonic´s and Tails´ combined attack with Ruby. The killer robot stood up and flexed his left arm before shooting a lighting bolt from it. Tails countered it with a charge from Strom. A bright flash lit up the area as the two attacks hit and exploded. Team Sonic blinked rapidly to regain their hearing, while their ears were ringing from the loud bang.
"This was maybe not the best course of action", Tails said.
"WHAT?", his speedster friends yelled over their still ringing ears.
However, their senses were fine enough, plus their gut feeling one got trough fighting many battles, to tell them of imminent danger. Neo Metal Sonic had curled up into a Spindash and was closing in on the heroes. Because of his long spikes, the robots version of this attack was especially dangerous. Like a giant shuriken he flew towards the trio, spikes shredding broken Badniks, asphalt and cement alike. Sonic grabbed his younger friends and run away with them down the bridge, the Neo Spindash close behind them.
Ruby and Tails, after completely getting their bearings back, used flight and Semblance to keep up with Sonic. The hedgehog let them go and the trio looked behind them.
"What should we do?"
The almost same question echoed trough Neo Metal Sonic´s head as he unfurled and kept track of his enemies by flying behind them with his jet. With them now speeding down the bridge they were getting nearer towards the factory.
Neo Metal Sonic looked around. The current position still gave him an advantage. They were all on a piece of ground suspended over Sonic´s biggest fear and weakness. He just needed to take care of his hated rivals little friends first. Once he had completely scanned all of their Biodata, he would show them what he was made of.
Neo Metal Sonic gave more power to his jets and flew above the trio and then hovering in front of them. His claws crackled and he shot out lighting. Ruby, Tails and Sonic all dodged the attacks sideways before fighting back with their own.
Tails und Ruby fired their weapons, which Neo Metal Sonic tried to deflect with his armor covered arms, but some shoots hit home and he staggered. Sonic took this opportunity and dashed ahead. When he was directly in front of his doppelgänger he jumped and used several homing attacks.
The killer robot growled. He started charging himself. The Chaos Emerald inside his chest glowed with energy. Sonic could tell this was very bad news and put his ability into reverse by running fast backwards. Doing so he ran past between Ruby and Tails, grabbing them by the arms and getting them into good distance from their enemy. Still, they barely escaped the Neo Version of Metal Sonics V. Maximum Overdrive Attack. A massive sphere of electricity erupted from the mechanical hedgehog. The air was charged with static and the smell of ozone. The air on Rubys neck, Sonics quills and Tails head stood up. The latter looked at the crackling storm nervously. Such power… and he knew Neo Metal Sonic would have more to offer. He might be the strongest of the Phantom Warriors of Infinite. Tails felt his mind was slipping back into the fateful day of Sonic getting defeated and the masked entity forcing him to run away. The fox clenched his fist. No, he wouldn't nor couldn't let himself get crippled by the fear anymore. Today he was doing so good, fighting the Badniks alongside his friends and his new weapons bravely. And he would pull this trough with Neo Metal Sonic.
Said robot was done with his attack. The ground and the steel supports of the bridge in front of them where glowing and crackling with electrical energy. Neo Metal Sonic flew up and continued his path towards the factory.
"He´s getting away!", Tails yelled. He turned to the others. "Ruby, you can fly with your Semblance over the electricity, right?"
"Yes."
"Then I will carry Sonic over it and we can continue our pursue."
And so they did. Ruby turned into a red petal cloud and glided over the buzzing part of their path, while Tails grabbed Sonic by the arms and flew him over it, like they did so many times. After that Ruby and Sonic went back into running, Tails kept being airborne with his rotating twin tails. Neo Metal Sonic noticed his enemies being back on the hunt. He summoned once again lighting, but condensed it into the form of spheres. He threw several bluish orbs out. The projectiles hovered in the air, placing themselves over several parts of the bridge and let lighting constantly rain down below them. This way more obstacles were created to further slow down Team Sonic. They carefully maneuvered around them, making Neo Metal Sonic watching them from afar, until…
"Scanning Biodata complete."
He dashed towards them, channeling negative Chaos Energy around him. Activating a Boost and further strengthening with his electricity, Neo Metal Sonic came rushing towards Sonic, Ruby and Tails! The blue hedgehog told his friends to step aside and cover his back as he ran towards his doppelgänger. Channeling and using his own Boost, the two hedgehogs crashed into one another. Their foreheads pushed against each other, fighting against the others speed and strength. Their energies clashing and pulsating.
"Give up you foolish copy. I fully scanned you and your little friends Biodatas. I know every single of your moves."
The machine drew more power from its Chaos Emerald and increased the output of its jet. Slowly pushing Sonic back. The Neo Boost starting to burn the blue hedgehog. Put he smiled trough the pain, even if it came out as a grimace with his gritted teeth.
"You may know everything I´m going to do, but that´s not going to help you because I know everything you´re going to do. Strange, isn't it?"
Suddenly Ruby and Tails appeared at Neo Metal Sonics side, barraging him with waves of fire and precise lasers. Weakening him, and Sonic giving more power into his Boost, he pushed his robot copy back. The killer robot flew backwards trough the air and crashed to the ground.
"Sonic, are you alright?"
The hedgehog in question rubbed his burned forehead and other parts that got hit by stray bolts.
"I can manage. But we need to finish this fight quickly. Metal got all of our Biodata. While I doubt it will make him achieve his Metal Overlord form, this will be no walk in the park."
"Like it was before", panted Ruby. She wasn't used to simultaneously run and shoot. "And what does it even mean that he scanned our… Biodata you called it?"
"Yes. He scanned the three us and has more or less access to our skill and abilities."
Ruby just groaned.
"That´s totally not overpowered at all."
The teams attention was drawn back to their enemy, who had gotten back to his feet. Neo Metal Sonic was chuckling.
"Three of you? My sensors showed me seven organic lifeforms."
Using the data he required from Zen, Neo Metal Sonic charged his Chaos Emerald and fired a laser towards Team Sonic. They broke apart. Tails flew to the right, while Sonic and Ruby ran to the right. The laser destroying the ground they just stood a few seconds beforehand. The hedgehog of the speedster duo tried to push his double back with another Boost, but Neo Metal Sonic moved aside his organic counterpart and when he dashed bast him, grabbed him by the back. The killer robot rotated his own torso and threw Sonic over the edge of the bridge. Tails immediately followed his brother to save him. Ruby looked at the two in concern, but her focus was quickly brought back to her opponent when he tried to punch her. Turning into rose petals, the metallic fist instead hit the steel beam behind her. A very deep dent was left behind. Ruby sweat dropped as she materialized back into human form. Nevertheless she tried to swing at Neo Metal Sonic with her scythe. The machine turned around and catches Crescent Roses blade effortlessly. The silver-eyed girl tried to pull free, but Neo Metal Sonic shocked her and the Wisps trough the metal of Rubys weapon. With them briefly stunned, he raised his other arm. The claw melted into a silvery liquid like substance, before it reformed into a copy of Crescent Roses scythe blade, with the red parts being blue instead and Kurtis hyper-go-on-energy being replaced by thorns made of white Chaos Energy. Neo Metal Sonic pulled Ruby towards him and slashed her with a copy of her own weapon. The human girl stumbled back, her Aura flickering. But despite her muscles aching from the twisted electroshock therapy Sonics robotic doppelgänger put her trough, and the Wisps not being better of, they all had to remain focused.
Neo Metal Sonic turned his other hand into a blade as well and machine and human parried, countered and dodged each others attacks. Ruby sweated waterfalls, as her current opponent was even more ruthless and faster then even Cinder. But as luck would have it, she started to hear the noise of Tails´ spinning namesakes. The fox and his brother rose upwards behind Neo Metal Sonic. Tails spun on his own axis and threw Sonic forward, who curled into a Spindash. But Metal had hear them as well.
He quickly turned around and shoot Sonic back with another laser. Then he turned just as fast back and crossed his arm blades to catch Rubys scythe strike. He pushed her back and changed his hands into Wispon like cannons. Neo Metal Sonic fired lighting and fire made from Chaos Energy towards the Huntress-in-training. She could barely dodge the barrage of attacks, but her Aura was reduced further.
What am I supposed to do? It feels like fighting a highly upgraded Atlesian Paladin that can use Dust, except worse!, Ruby thought grimly. Sonic is right. We need to finish the fight quickly. But how? This guy is though, can literally do everything we can do and seems to be almost if no as fast as Sonic!
Ironically, Neo Metal Sonic himself gave Ruby the answer to her question. Alongside his arm cannons, he additionally started to use his Chaos Emerald as well. Ruby saw how the gem pulsated with energy and her eyes widened as realization struck her.
Before Neo Metal Sonic could fire a laser, he was thrown to the side by a Double-Spindash. Sonic and Tails uncurled and gave their human companion worried looks.
"Ruby, are you okay?"
"I… yes, I´m fine. But I think I found a weakness on Neo Metal Sonics design."
The Mobians looked at her, first in surprise, but then with hope. Ruby continued.
"Metal could transform because of Infinites energies and the Chaos Emerald, but if we remove one of them from him…" She pointed towards the white gem inside the robots chest, who was once again busy getting back to his feet.
"… he may no longer have enough power to maintain his Neo Form!", Tails finished Rubys though process.
"Exactly!"
"Alright, sound like a plan. If anything, it gives us another Emerald and should weaken him considerably."
"You organic lifeforms… I´M DONE GETTING THROWN TO THE GROUND BY YOU!"
Team Sonics enemy came at them as a Neo Spindash. Ruby stepped forward. Before Neo Metal Sonic reached her, she muttered another idea, that came to her head, to Kurtis. Ruby took a firm stance and held out her scythe. The shuriken like Spindash clashed against Crescent Roses modified blade. The rotating spikes made Rubys entire body tremble and put a strain on the Wisps, but they stood their ground. Neo Metal Sonic unfurled and grabbed the mechanical scythe.
"I know you humans are slow learners compared to me, but you don't seem to learn at all."
He wanted to shock her again, but Neo Metal Sonics mockery turned into confusion upon seeing Rubys smirk.
"Oh really?"
Kurtis put more of his energy into Crescent Rose and dozens of huge thorns erupted from the blade, piercing and rupturing the mechanical hedgehogs hands. Neo Metal Sonics red eyes shrunk as his vision was flooded with warnings of heavy damage.
"How… no, you cant hur-" Ruby interrupted the robot by turning around, giving herself additional momentum with Petal Burst, and swung her scythe alongside with her, before halting. The swung ripped Neo Metal Sonic free from the thorns, further damaging his hands and he flew toward Sonic and Tails. The two just shared a brief look, before nodding. Tails flew upwards.
Sonic bombarded his doppelgänger with homing attacks from several angles, all aiming towards his chest. Then he rounded it up with a kick against Metals chin, that send him flying toward the sky, where Tails was already waiting. He held out his Double-Wispon, aimed carefully, and fired. Strom, who had taken an example from Kurtis, had used more energy, so that a powerful lightning bolt send Neo Metal Sonic crashing down to the earth… again.
Dust and debris was kicked up. Dazed, the killer robot tried to stand up. A task more difficult by his damaged hands. This way, Ruby managed to take him by surprise. She speed past him and gave his heavily dented and charred chest a slice, further loosening the Chaos Emerald.
No… how can this be? I am the fastest thing alive PERFECTED! How can a mere human, whose speed barely holds the water to my inferior copy, damage me like that?, Neo Metal Sonic thought in frustration.
His organic counterpart appeared. Sonic crouched down and tried to yank the Chaos Emerald of him, but Metal kicked him away. With his jets he flew a distance away from Team Sonic. They followed him, but where slowed down by Neo Metal Sonic again forming lighting spheres and creating obstacles. Additionally, the killer robot activated its Neo Boost and charged at Team Sonic. Whenever it missed, the mechanical doppelganger would teleport with Chaos Control and attack from multiple directions. Dodging was hard and it lead to Sonic being hit and thrown against the supports of the bridge. He fell it down, the barbed wire tearing fur and skin of. As he reached the ground, Neo Metal Sonic appeared in front of him and aimed his arms at him. But when he tried to change them into Wispon guns, their damaged condition caused them to short circuit, before melting into metallic liquid. Neo Metal Sonic looked at his dissolved limbs in disdain, before kicking the real hedgehog further away. When the blue speedster tried to stand up, he had to roll away as to not get shredded by a Neo Spindash.
Metal unfurled and put a foot on his hated rivals chest, pushing and staring him down. The white Chaos Emerald glowed as it focused energy for a laser aimed at Sonics head. The process loosened it up even more, but that didn't bother Neo Metal Sonic. All his attention was on his counterpart. Just as he was about to fire, Tails reached him, grabbed him by his spikes from behind and pulled the robot's head back. His torso followed the movement, so the laser pointed up and shot over Sonic.
"Annoying brat!"
Neo Metal Sonic rotated his upper body so long, until Tails couldn't hold on anymore and flew away.
"Tails!", yelled Sonic in worry, but the air was pressed out of his lungs by Metals foot. The robot had enough of this foolishness. He restarted the charging of his Chaos Emerald, determined to end his loathsome copy once and for all, showing the world that he was the one true Sonic! But Tails action bought enough time for Ruby. A petal cloud flew over Neo Metal Sonics head and manifested in front of him into the silver-eyed girl, Crescent Rose in Sniper mode. She pulled the trigger and shot directly into the charged Chaos Emerald.
BOOM!
The explosion pulled most of Neo Metal Sonics torso apart and send him flying across the bridge towards its end, while at the same time releasing the Chaos Emerald from its mechanical prison.
Ruby walked towards Sonic and helped him get up.
"You okay? You took quite the beating there."
The Mobian took deep breaths to soothe his aching rips… and rest of his body. But he was still going.
"I had worse. I-"
"NOOOOOOOO!"
The speedster duo looked up. Despite everything, despite all the damage his body had taken in, Neo Metal Sonic still tried to get up. But… could he be still called that? His shape was flickering, glitching, as the killer robot desperately tried to focus his remaining energy into maintaining his Neo form.
Ruby and Sonic looked at the machine in the distance, then at each other.
"You thinking what I´m thinking, partner?"
"You bet."
Tails, who had retrieved the white Chaos Emerald, understood what his friend where up to and took cover by flying under the bridge.
The speedsters started running towards Metal Sonic. Energy and petals swirling around them. They closed in to each other. Sonic held out a hand.
"Chaos…"
Ruby took it.
"…Burst!"
BOOOM!
They shot towards Metal Sonic as a blue and red blur, energies crackled loudly around them. The glitching robot looked up. For a second he considered running or confronting Sonic and his latest trick.
Surely he could take and counter any trick his inferior copy would use against him, for he was the one true Sonic… right?
That one second was his undoing.
The Chaos Burst drilled into the robot, deforming and crushing his entire body before tearing him apart. Shrapnel and machine parts rained down on the bridge and into the waters below. Sonic and Ruby managed to brake a little more gracefully this time. After catching his breath, Sonic smiled.
"Hey that was amazing! Not only did you manage to hold your own against one of the strongest opponents I ever faced, but you helped greatly against his defeat."
Ruby chuckled, but she just rubbed the back of her head. Usually she would be more excited about what she did, but right now she needed to calm down from all the adrenaline rush.
"I´m sure Tails would´ve figured out the weak point with the Chaos Emerald as well."
"Still, you were pretty great! Don´t forget: Teamwork makes the dream work. We were like a well olied machine fighting… a well oiled machine."
Sonic offered Ruby his fist. The human girl chuckled again and bumped hers against the hedgehogs. Tails flew towards them, Chaos Emerald in one hand, Double Wispon in the other.
"Guys this is great! Now the Eggman Empire has lost most of its generals. Now there are only Infinite and maybe Cinder left. And Eggman himself. But of course that´s not all. We got another Chaos Emerald."
Tails held said gem out towards Ruby. She just looked at the offered object of power in confusion.
"Uhm… do you want me to take it?"
Tails smiled.
"Of course. Did you forget your deal with Shadow? He´s ready to teach you if you are able to obtain your own Chaos Emerald. And judging how you not only figured out how we could use it as a weakness against Neo Metal Sonic, but also made the final blow of getting it out if him, I say you more than deserved the right to own it."
At first, Ruby looked unsure. But an encouraging nod from not only her Mobian friends, but also the Wisps appearing from their weapons, made her take the white gem.
She held it up close to her face. With its shape and coloration it looked like a brilliant diamond, yet Ruby knew how this was something so much more. Just like with the green one, she could feel the power emanating from it, a warm prickle going trough her fingers. A gem to control reality. And her soon getting lessons in ow to use it. She smiled excitedly and put the Chaos Emerald into one of her pockets. Then she started bouncing towards the main factory of Atopos. With them being close to the end of the bridge, Team Sonic could see it more clearly.
"Well, what are we waiting for. Lets finish our mission and soon I can start teleporting around!"
"Oh you can do more than just that with Chaos Control."
The Mobians followed Ruby and told her about some of the miracles the Chaos Emeralds had been able to achieve. The silver eyed girl, and the Wisps, listened intently. Well, except Strom. He was busy blasting every part of Metal Sonic he found, cursing him in their language on how he dared to use their own element against them and their friends.
Infinite was flying among the Metropolis skyscrapers when he paused and stared at the Phantom Ruby.
"So the last of the Phantom Warriors has fallen. Despite the Chaos Emeralds I provided, Sonic and his friends were able to defeat them all."
The entity placed a hand on his mask. His yellow eye darted back and forth, lost in thought.
"The Doctor won't be happy about this news, after all, Metal Sonic was his favorite. But maybe it can be repaired and improved if I collect the scraps left behind by the battle and present them to the doctor. It's worth a try, thereby avoiding punishment from the failure of Eggman's machine." The Jackal growled. "Because of course others have to suffer for his shortcomings!"
Infinite calmed down. "But he made me what I am and let me battle the likes of Sonic. With him I can warp and play with this otherwise pointless world at will. And its not like that there is for me a way out. Better to aim for the Doctor's goodwill. So I'd better take care of Metal's remains before he finds out about his defeat through other means."
In a flash of red light he disappeared.
The masked entity reappeared on a large bridge. He looked around and stiffened. He saw the main factory at the end of the bridge. And Sonic, Ruby and Tails, alongside some Wisps, entering it.
The Phantom Ruby glowed. Infinite raised a hand, energy channeling inside of it, and was about to shoot a laser beam at the friends. Then he hesitated.
"What would be the point? I could fight them but…"
He lowered his hand and stroked the ruby with it.
"They are probably tired from their battle with Metal. There would barely be any fun, they just would break to easy. And there wont be anything for them to be gained from the base…" Eggman had been more than angry at Cinder for blowing up the Shadow Android facility. But he had begrudgingly admitted that trough that, his enemies couldn't gather any intel about his plans and projects. Which inspired the doctor to install a program into all of his main bases. Whenever someone without the right password tried to gain access trough hacking, all Data would be erased and the self destruct sequence activated. "…but there could be gain if the collection and present of Metal Sonics part is successful."
The masked entity nodded and started gathering the pieces. Leaving Team Sonic in peace… this time.
And here we go. What do you think about the Bossfight against the base form of Neo Metal Sonic? I know some may be disappointed that there was no Metal Overlord, but:
1) Metal lacked the a significant amount of Biodata from other characters to unlock it.
2) Metal Overlord would´ve been to much. Not just for Ruby, but also for Sonic and Tails. Dont forget that it took what was essentially three Super Forms (or whatever Tails and Knuckles had going on with them) to defeat Metal Overlord. The only other Sonic Endboss that required something like that for its defeat was freaking Solaris.
To Guest: To each their own. But I still prefer on using Chaos Burst. I mean the Burst part comes from Ruby, not Sonic.

Yeah, that was on purpose. Since Tails is analytical like Penny, he would analyze Rubys Semblance and come to a similar conclusion.
Maybe. He will become a mentor of sorts for her.
Psychological scars run deep, and Lola had been trough a lot, but the journey of healing can finally start for her.

Lol, yeah. In that case Metal is just like his dad. And like Eggman he gets tunnel vision when its about Sonic. He was getting frustrated about Ruby, yet still kept his entire focus on Sonic. Maximum Overdrive Attack, highly upgraded by the Neo form.

To Guest: An apology isn´t necessary. While your reviews admittedly could be annoying at times, you still never just flamed or left hatemail. And you did offer longer reviews and pointed out some stuff. For that I am grateful. Maybe I misread your tones in some of your texts. I can be difficult to interpret what someone means without tone of voice and face mimic. In that case I also want to apologize if some of the stuff I wrote came out harsher than intended. I am also happy that you think of my story as one of the better ones that exist out there. I'm trying my best and it's nice to see that my attempts seem to be leading towards something.
As for the last part: Maybe. But there are many, MANY, more people who are disappointed by RWBY and Sonic Forces. Both of them had potential that was poorly utilized and wasted by poor writing. I know that my story isnt the perfect and ultimate rewrite. There are many more people that wrote really good rewrites of RWBY and Sonic Forces.
Me, is just want to write a wacky, action packed story about the two franchises with some tender moments.

Infinite can make both illusions (caused by getting touched by his red cubes) and actually manipulation of reality (matter, laws of physik, creating new stuff like Phantoms from nothing but his energy). The Maria thing was a Phantom as well. A weak Phantom that was made to bleed and act all betrayed and wounded to mess with Shadow.
Things were called fake because they weren't the original/genuine version of something. In real life people also call something fake when its not the genuine article.
If someone manipulates reality to change a spoon into a knife than everyone sees that it is a knife. Because the spoon is now a knife. As for how… in fiction there are many examples of how such abilities work.
To Guest: I know but its still what I decided to go with in this fic. Why is that such a problem? Many other people do something similar in their stories.
To EndeavorT: I always thought the Black Arms were genetically able to better harness and control Chaos Energy and that´s why Gerald wanted some blood from Black Doom.
