Moving On Chapter 5
Link pulled out his Purah pad as he approached a looming sandstorm, memorizing his route before putting it away. He leaned onto the sled as the seal charged ahead into the storm. As the sand shrouded all around him, he remembered what'd lead up to this.
"Link are you alright?
It's just that I'm worried, you're still so quiet. You told me you were silent to bear your burdens, but the calamity is long over, now even the Demon King is dead. What still troubles you?
I see... so that was mutual then...
I know it's hard but link you have to let go, holding onto the dead won't do you or them any good.
Link I'm probably the only one who does understand.
We can... talk about it some other time I see you're busy. Where are you going by the way?
Oh, the Yiga bases in the depths, please be careful, there's still so much we don't know about those places."
It was down there he learned of the Yiga's plan to attack Gerudo town. He was approaching now, Link jumped off the sled and quickly donned his disguise. The canyon was quiet, usually it at least had the sound of fake crying or calling out for specifically a blond hero in blue to come save the day but now it was just empty, as if they were never even there.
But he could feel their eyes on him.
The blademaster at the door let him in, all was going well, not a single member saw through his disguise. The horse hair he sewed to the hood also made blending in much easier, no longer did he stick out like a sore thumb with his blond hair, now it was practically impossible to recognize him.
"Everyone, your attention." He heard a voice boom across the hall, all members turned quickly to the source of the voice, it was a large, lean man, three horns petruding from his mask painted a darker red than the rest with a hint of purple. His bodysuit was largely similar to the others save for some leather armour padding and a large belt with the Yiga crest engraved on it. Looks like new leadership was behind the change in the Yiga's behavior. All silently bowed before the tall Yiga, Link following suit. They certainly felt more like a clan of killers than the band of thieves they acted like before. The tall Yiga held out his left hand, revealing it to be enshrouded in a light purple mist, thick gloom encircling it up to his bicep.
"It would seem even with our newfound strength granted by the demon king, a direct assault will not work, though we weakened the swordsman, if he is not alone, we will not be able to kill him." He spoke, deep voice booming through the hall with every word.
That arm, the demon king. How was that even possible. Link- no everyone in Hyrule would've seen that gigantic blast when he was destroyed with their own eyes. That purple arm of his, it reminded him of what'd happened to his own arm with the Zonai. It looked like Ganondorf was learning from him.
"So, we shall destroy his aid. I have learned that he has left the Gerudo chief's side on his way into the desert. Harion!" He pointed out a blademaster. "You are to disguise yourself as the swordsman, infiltrate the Gerudo and kill the chief as soon as you get the chance. I hear the swordsman speaks not a word, so be silent." The blademaster nodded, and immediately vanished, fluttering paper talismans falling where he once knelt. Link watched as the talismans fell, the mask luckily concealing his look of shock, though he quickly composed himself again. All he had to do was wait for this speech to end and he could leave. One blademaster shouldn't be too much.
It was then all the gates slammed shut.
"Until his return, none shall leave this hideout, I do not want anything getting in the way of this." He said, gaze shifting across every clan member in the crowd.
"And while we wait. I, Master Kaago, have a guest to entertain." His glare settling on Link, all other members shifting their gaze to him too.
Damn.
"I want a barrier on the North gate immediately, Swords, canon and a spearwoman to the West and the remaining spearwomen to the east." Riju commanded her troops, preparing for another Yiga attack. The Warriors bowed to her orders and rushed to their stations. She sat on the stairs beside the entrance to the shelter which was once again full and sealed. She drew her scimitars and begun polishing them, preparing them for the upcoming battle. Lightning zapped from her fingers across her blade, following the careful, methodical motions of her hand.
She was interrupted by the unmistakable bright blue of the champion's tunic in her peripheral vision. Strange, he usually wore traditional voe armor while in the desert, though it was a bit cooler today. She watched him slowly approach without moving her head.
"So, what did you find?" She asked, dread anticipation swirling in her mind. Link simply shook his head. They're gone.
Gone? How could that be? Then where did they attack from? They must have a new hideout in the desert somewhere. It'd take them at least a week to scour the whole desert just to find it, anything could happen in that time, any amount attacks they could muster, and they'd certainly pick up on their attempts to find them.
"Was that all? Did they not leave any tracks? Any hints of their current whereabouts?" She asked. Link simply shook his head, neutral as always. He clearly understood the weight of the situation himself. What to do. She'd have to constantly be on watch for attack for who knows how long. What could she do?
This 'Master Kaago' was dangerous. He was a good fighter unlike Kohga, he utilized his ancient Sheika technology and gloom covered arm to great effect. It's abilities' seem to revolve around control. He seemed to have multiple Yiga puppets that he controlled with ease, when one died, it was like its strings had been snapped, only to be re-attatched by the puppet master. Who knew how much of the Yiga clan now was Sheikah and how much was puppet.
Kaago parried an attack from Link, catching him off guard, trying to disarm him, but the Master Sword repelled him. As his hand neared it, the gloom vanished from his wrist down, leaving a charred, dead hand hovering limp over the blade. It couldn't even touch the blade, like bringing the opposite ends of magnets together they simply would not come together. Link dodged back. Looking around, he saw an opening. Readying himself, he stalled for a second before charging, pushing from a block on the floor for a boost, he jumped over Kaago, kicking him over as he did and loosing a fire arrow he'd notched as he kicked Kaago, at the wooden barricade at impossible speed.
The barricade quickly burnt away, and he dashed out of the hideout, desperate to reach Gerudo town. He had to make it in time. Kaago watched as he ran off, followed by a cloud of sand. Believing Harion would have enough time to kill the Gerudo chief, he laughed.
Link stood beside Riju as she thought over what to do. Silently, her eyes were trained on the ground, away from his shadow. He drew his blade and readied it behind her. As he swung down, he met the end of the Gerudo chief's blade, hilt of the other saber quickly coming into contact with his chin and knocking him to the floor, though he stood back up quickly. He didn't hold the master sword, but a modified eightfold longblade.
Riju glared at him coldly, sabers crackling with lightning as she prepared for battle
