CH 41
That afternoon Mike walk in to Kate class, he was wearing his uniform. He sat down at the back of the class listening to Kate asking the students question which some of them raise there Hand, Kate pointed to one of the students for them to answer when that student got it wrong. Kate saw Mike at the back of the class so she pointed to another student who answer it
"that right, lieutenant Adams the course you were going you would ended up in the middle of the reef with damage done to the ship and miles off course"
Then she turn around and pick up the felt tip pen and remove the lid. Then she started writing on the board while talking at the same time about another course direction.
Then she turn around and ask class a question about changing of the course. They look at the board. Kate saw Mike smile at her knowing what the answer is till one of the lieutenant raise there hand
"Lieutenant" the lieutenant answered the question
"that right, good job" mike watch Kate as she talk to them and give them some difficult questions which most of the class couldn't answer.
When class was over the students pick up there books and stuff before walking out of the room talking. When they were gone Mike stood up and step forward holding his hat in his hand
"Hey" Kate said giving mike a kiss
"Hey interesting questions you ask the class as well see how well they do in a tight spot" Kate smile and she pick up her papers
"thanks, are you ok Mike"
"Hammersley in dry dock"
"what, how long?"
"till next year, I told Steve I need new XO and Navigator" Kate open her brief case to put her paper work in
"what happen"
Mike tells Kate about what happen while she put papers in her brief case then close and lock it then she pick up a cloth to wipe the board down. Then she put the cloth back to where is was then she pick up her hat and brief case and walk towards the door while listening to Mike as well ask him questions which he was able to answer them.
They walk down to room where all the instructors go to to meet up with others while having cup of coffee and do some paper work. When they walk into the room they were the only ones there and Mike finish telling Kate about what happen.
"Well mike since your here your more than welcome to sit in class and see if you can spot the lieutenant who I'm think of" Kate said smiling as she put her brief case onto the table
"You sure Kate"
"Yes but no distractions" Mike smile as he look her up and down while smiling
"I can't help it Kate you look sexy in your uniform" Kate shook her head as she walk over to the kitchenette
"Well you better Mike"
"and if I don't" Kate look over her shoulder
"You will be spending every night at your parent place till course is over"
"you wouldn't?"
"Yes I would Mike" she turn around to make them a drink
"that mean Kate"
"all fair love and war mike"
"i know" Kate made them a drink then walk back over to the table passing mike his drink before sitting down to talk about other things.
Ten minutes later door open and a officer walk in he smile when he saw who in there
"mike Flynn, what are you doing here" mike stood up and shook the guy hand
"I'm here to see my wife"
"More like distract her mike" Kate said, making Mike grin
"Why not I can't help it Kate" he said looking at her
"Yes you can, now if you don't mind" she raise her eye brows at him
"ok, I'll go and Talk to Jon here"
"thank you"
Kate return back to what she was doing while Mike and Jon walk over and sat on the couch to talk for about five minutes then more instructors walk in. Mike spoke to the ones he know while Kate work for and hour before she and mike left to go to her room.
On the way Mike left to get his bag while Kate carry on walking towards her room. When mike got his bag he return back to Kate room she was already change.
"Want to go into town for some dinner or eat here on base?" Mike asked
"We can go into town"
"Great I'll get change then we can go into town"
Mike got change then he and Kate left to go into town for dinner then they return back to Watson bay for an early night.
The next day Kate and class was out doing the second part of the course. The course that a lieutenant commander was suppose to teach. Mike watches and listens to Kate as he wrote notes down on a pad that Kate gave to him. That afternoon Kate teaches the second group the same thing since there was two groups to teach the same thing.
That night Mike went to his parents place to look after the kids since they were going out and Kate needed to do some paper work which Mike under stood.
The next morning Mike met Kate in the mess hall since she was having breakfast with the other instructors. Over the two weeks Mike watches and listens. He wrote down names of the lieutenants who he thinks would be good to serve with him on Hammersley.
On the second to last day before the class finds out if the pass or not. Mike pass Kate his list of lieutenant names. "Mike why did you give me this for?"
"i would like to talk to them, one at a time, can you set it up"
"sure after class"
"Kate the one you thinking of is he, she on that list" Kate smile
"Yes"
"Good" When Kate and mike walk into class that morning Kate spoke to them about how well they did which made them happy.
"I know you wondering who this officer is and why he is here. Class I like to interduce to you lieutenant commander Mike Flynn. He here to see how good you all are. He use to be my instructor when I was the student" Mike grin.
"Yes lieutenant Brown" when Kate saw the guy hand raise
"Lieutenant, why is lieutenant commander Flynn here?" Kate turn to mike
"Care to answer that question...sir" Mike stood up and step forward till he was standing next to Kate
"Of course... I'm captain of patrol boat HMAS Hammersley and I'm here to look for a new navigator. Lieutenant here" he look at Kate then back to class
"told me that there is some lieutenants that I might be interested in having on Hammersley. That is why in the past two weeks I've been listening and watching how well you all do" then one put her hand up
"Lieutenant Cateano" Kate said
"sir what happen to the navigator that was on Hammersley?"
"The lieutenant is being sent to the captain table for number of reasons. One was he put the ship and crew in danger number of times when he gave the wrong course direction which cause Hammersley to sustain damage for one"
"sir is Hammersley in dry doc?" lieutenant Cateano asked
"Yes for six weeks"
"Lieutenant Adams" Kate said his name
"Sir why not have lieutenant McGregor as you navigator" Mike smile
"I would love to have lieutenant on Hammersley but she can't be on Hammersley cause she my wife"
"Wife sir?" lieutenant Adams said in shock
"Yes, is there any questions any one would like to asked?" Mike said.
Mike answer number of the lieutenant questions for the next few minutes till he sat back down again so Kate could carry on till class was almost over.
"Now before you all go I would like lieutenant Brown, lieutenant Young, lieutenant Andrews, lieutenant Cateano and lieutenant Davis to remain behind thank you" Kate said When she look at them.
When class was over all but the five lieutenants stay behind. "Lieutenant commander Flynn got some questions to ask you, lieutenant Brown your up first"
Mike and the lieutenant walk over to a corner of the room and sat down to talk. While the other four watch but can't hear what mike and the lieutenant talking about. Kate sat down at her desk doing some paper work till lieutenant brown walk out of the class room
"Lieutenant Young" mike said.
The lieutenant walk over and sat across from Mike. With in an hour mike talk to all five of the lieutenants. When the last one walk out of the class room.
Mike walk over to Kate. She look up at him "Have you decided Mike"
"I have" Kate pull out a folded up piece of paper and put it on her desk in front of Mike
"the lieutenant I was thinking of is on that paper, who did you choice"
"Lieutenant Nikki Cateano" then he pick up the folded piece of paper and unfold it. Mike saw name Nikki Cateano written down.
He smile as he look up at Kate. "Is she good Kate"
"Top student"
"Better than you" Kate laugh
"no but here" Kate pass Mike a file.
He open it and read what it about. It was Nikki file. "I'm impress" Mike said
"Thought you would" He close the file and pass it back to Kate
"I'll give Steve a call"
"Here" she pass him key to her room
"I'll be half an hour"
"thanks" Mike walk out the class room getting his phone out of his pocket while Kate return back to her papers.
The next day Kate Class notice that mike isn't there but Kate spoke to them all about how well they done. When class was over and the lieutenants were leaving
"Lieutenant Cateano"
"Yes ma'am" Nikki walk over to Kate when the others walk out of the room.
Kate open her brief case and pick up an envelope and pass it to her. "What this lieutenant" Nikki asked
"Your new orders. Your the new navigator on HMAS Hammersley, congratulation" Kate said smiling Nikki was shock
"Lieutenant commander Flynn choice me"
"Yes, we both did. But he didn't know that you were my top choice till he said your name, I gave him this after he said it" she pass Nikki fold up piece of paper. She unfolded it to see her name on it.
She look up at Kate and smile "I don't know what to say"
"thank you would be nice and don't let lieutenant commander Flynn down"
"I won't I promise"
"good, enjoy your Christmas holidays"
"You to lieutenant" Nikki said smiling before walking out of the class room getting her phone out of her pocket to make a call.
Kate left few minutes later to return back to her room to pick up her bags and left for Mike parents place for the holidays till she finds out where she going to be posted next year.
When Kate pulled up out side the garage Mike walk over to her when she got out of her car "Hey finish at Watson bay" mike asked as they hug and kiss
"Yeah where the family"
"gone shopping for the day"
"Ok, do you know what time they will be back?" Kate open the back door to get her bags out then she close and lock the car up
"They bring dinner home why" Kate turn around and kiss Mike.
"three hours of alone time" she said smiling as she walk around mike and walk towards the house
"coming Mike" Mike turn to watch Kate walk into the house.
So he follow her in side closing and locking the back door before following Kate up and into there bedroom.
Three hours later Mike woke up when he heard voices and reconsigned them. He look down at Kate who snuggling up to his side sleeping after they made love twice before falling asleep like they are now. Mike move to give Kate a kiss
"Mmm mike" Kate said half a sleep
"Kate family back"
"Is it that time already" she said opening her eyes to see mike looking at her
"Yes"
"Need more sleep" mike smile
"Later"
"sounds good" then she move so her nose was touching his then they kiss before getting up and getting dress.
They walk down stairs and into the dinning area "Mummy, Daddy" Kids said squealing happily as they ran over to them for hugs and kisses.
"Enjoy your rest you two" Alice asked
"Yes mum, come on kids lets get you up to the table"
Mike and Kate help there kids up to the table now they don't need there high chairs any more since they getting bigger. Paul showed up with plates, knifes and forks
"Hey you two"
"hi dad" Mike said.
They sat down around the table as they dish up kids dinner first then there own. They talk and laugh while enjoying dinner. After dinner Mike and Kate play with the kids for an hour before they took kids up stairs for there baths and bed. Mike read them a story till they were asleep then he he return back down stairs where he join his parents and Kate out side side it was still day light.
"Kate saying you two going up to Cairns for Christmas new year" Alice asked
"Yes we are, Ed and Kate grand parents are coming over to spend Christmas with us" Mike said
"dose kids know?"
"No it a surprise for them" Kate said
"they know we spending Christmas up there. They looking forward to it" Mike said
They talk for the next few hours before going to bed. Mike and Kate spent a week with Paul and Alice before they left to fly up to Cairns taking kids with them. Paul drove them to the air port and see them off. When the plane landed at the air port.
Mike left in a taxi to go home to get the SUV then return to pick up Kate and the kids since he had already taken the bag with him. When he pick up Kate and there kids they went to McDonald for dinner since there wasn't any food in the house. After dinner kids went and play in the play area of McDonald's.
"Mike will you be ok with the kids"
"sure, why?"
"I'll go across the road to get some food for the house"
"Ok" he pass her the car key.
"I'll be about ten, minutes"
"Ok, we need some coffee"
"I'll get some" then she turn and pick up her bag and walk out of McDonald's while Mike keep an eye on the kids who was having heaps of fun.
Fifteen minutes later Kate walk back over to where Mike is holding two cups of coffee in hand. She pass one to him before sitting down next to him
"Got what you needed Kate"
"Yes, I pick up some bacon. Eggs, bread, butter, jam, Milo, juice, sugar, coffee, milk, toilet paper, tooth paste, Shampoo for the kids, shower gel"
"Breakfast?"
"Yep and other needed items for home till we can go shopping tomorrow"
"Good idea, let go and get kids they look a bit warn out" Kate smile
"they sleep well tonight" they finish there coffee just as they stood up and put there cups in the bin. Then they went and got there kids and left to head home.
When they arrived home Mike and Kate took there kids into there bedroom and got them change into there nightwear and into bed. With in minutes kids were asleep. Then mike and Kate went to take care of the groceries and bags. Once done they got the boxes of Christmas decorations and Christmas tree out from the storage room. Then they spent the next four hours putting most of them up before going to bed since it been along day for them and there kids.
The next morning after breakfast Kate went into town to do some shopping while Mike and kids decorated the Christmas tree and finish decorating the rest of the in side of the house.
When Kate return, Kids were playing out side in that play area while Mike went and help Kate with the shopping. "did you and kids have fun Mike"
"Yes we did, did you get the presents?"
"Yes they just need to be wrap up"
"Ok" Mike help carry the bags in side and help Kate put the groceries away.
Then Kate went and hid the gifts away while mike sorted out lunch while keeping an eye on kids through the kitchen window. When Kate return. She pick up one tray and mike pick up the other then they walk out side and over to where table and chairs are.
"Kids lunch ready" Kate said.
They ran over and manage to get up on the chairs. Kate use wet cloth to wash there hands and hand towel to dry them before kids started eating there lunch. Then she sat down next to mike so she could starting eating her's while talking to the kids.
Hour after lunch Mike and Kate were in the swimming pool with the kids since it was a hot day. They all enjoyed them selves for an hour. Then they went in side and had a shower in there own rooms and gotten dress then the kids went to have there afternoon nap since all the running around tired them out. While they were sleeping, Mike and Kate went to wrap up the gifts and put them under the Christmas tree. When down they sat down with Kate snuggling up to Mike side
"when is Ed and your grand parents arrive?" Mike asked
"Tonight, they will be here about ten"
"Ok, looking forward to seeing them" Kate turn to Mike
"Yes I am and knowing dad and my grand parents they would be spoiling kids rotten" mike laugh
"that what grand parents do Kate"
"I know but look what dad gotten kids so far"
"i know, he spoiling them like he spoil you"
"i know"
"I try to spoil you when I can with what I got"
"I know that mike. You spoil me in ways that it cost nothing but love"
"I know and we show out kids that money doesn't make you happy it family, it love that one thing you can't buy"
"True" Kate move till she was sitting on his lap with one leg on each side of his
"Kate what are you doing?" when he watches Kate undo buttons on his shirt
"showing you how much I love you" then she kiss him as she carry on what she was doing.
So mike held on to Kate and move her till she was lying down on the couch with him on top which made her giggle. Then he started undoing the buttons on her shirt as he kisses his way down. Then he push it a side as he cup her breast when they heard a cough from the door way.
Kate turn and look at the person who smiling at them "Dad, grand ma, grand dad" Kate said in shock as she try to cover her self.
Mike turn and saw them then he sat up as Kate close her top together "Ed, hi" mike said as he stood up
"We came early" Ed said smiling as Kate stood up doing the buttons up on her top
"mike your shirt" Kate said as she step ford to give them a hug.
Mike look down at his shirt and relies that the buttons were undone so she started button them up again as he walk over to great his in laws
"sorry about what you saw" mike said
"don't be, we can tell you two sill love each other" Ed said smiling
"Yes we do, cold drink"
"Thanks and it looks like you need one to" Ed said laughing
"Well it is hot out side"
"and on the couch as well"
"I'll take you to your rooms while Mike get all of us a drink" Kate said
"Good idea, where kids?" Ed asked
"sleeping" Kate said
"Ah" Ed said still grinning
Mike walk into the kitchen to sort out cold drinks and got couple packets of biscuits out of the panty. He put them on tray then he took them out side and waited. Kate showed her grand parents and Ed the guest bedrooms where they will be sleeping in and the bathroom.
