AN: Sorry for haven't posting in the past couple of weeks. I've been very i'll and been rush in to hospital where i spent a week in battling an infection. I am home now taking antibodics to make sure the bug dosn't return.
CH 42
Kate talk to her grand parents since it been few years since she last saw them. Then she show them around the house. They love how big is it and that there plenty of room and space in each of the rooms. When they walk out side they were laughing.
"Every thing alright" Mike asked
"Yes Mike" Kate said.
They all sat down around the table that was under a large gazebo to talk about how things are. Couple hours later Kate went to check on the kids to see them awake so she made sure that they all been to the loo before leaving to go down stairs.
Once they were down stairs "Kids, Daddy out side out back go and see him and our surprise guests?"
"Who are they mummy" Connor asked
"You know them, go on"
kids ran out to the back of the house while Kate walk into the kitchen to get kids a drink.
When kids ran out side they stop when they saw five people around the table.
One turn around and smile to them "Grand dad" Kids said yelling then ran over to him for a hug.
Mike watches kids give him a hug then they turn to the other guests. "Kids this is your mummy grand ma and grand pa" mike said to them
"like your grand dad, daddy" Patrick said
"Yes" They walk around to them and they all hug each other "Hello grand ma, Grand pa" Kids said to them
"Hello you kids sure have grown up so much" One of the grand mothers said while smiling at them
"Yes they have"
then Kate walk out side with kids drinks while her grand parents pick kids up and put them on there lap while talking to them. Kate pass kids there drinks before sitting down. They talk while kids have there drinks and a biscuit each.
Then kids take there grand parents and Ed over to there play area where they play while laughing. Kate and mike watch them then he turn to Kate "What are we going to have for dinner Kate?"
"Barbeque"
"Why not"
"Mike are you ok" Kate asked
"Yeah I'm still getting over the shock of what happen this afternoon in the living room" Kate laugh
"Oh god, I don't know who was more shock, them or us"
"True and I was just about to lift your bra up when your dad cough in the door way"
"Now that would be embarrassing if they saw what you were going to do to me"
"Yes it would of right but they didn't look shock they were grinning Kate"
"I know and with dad, he might tease you about where to make out and where not to make out" Mike grin
"Well I couldn't help it Kate"
"I know, it would have been worse if it was your sisters" Mike look at Kate in shock
"That would be a bloody nightmare if it was one of them. They would be on the phone with in seconds" Kate laugh
"Yes they would alright" Then she put her hand in Mike while smiling at him
"Mike we will continue where we left off tonight in our bedroom"
"But there no couch in there Kate"
"Bed better" Mike smile
"Yes your right about that" they turn when they heard laughter coming from the play area.
Later that night Mike fired up the barbeque while Kate went and got the meat for Mike. Ed and Kate grand parents sat down to relax after chasing kids about. The kids were still running around having fun. When Kate pass the meat to Mike she look at her family
"they tired you out" Kate said
"Yeah, they sure got heaps of energy" Ed said
"that they do, Paul calls them four balls of energy"
"that is so true, need any help Kate" Her grand mother asked
"I'm good, you relax" Kate return back in side while mike put the meat on the barbeque.
Twenty minutes later they all siting down out side enjoying eating there barbeque dinner while talking and laughing. After dinner Kate and mike took care of the dishes and left overs while Ed and Kate grand parents talk to the kids till mike and Kate return with drinks for every one.
Hour later Kids were in bed sound a sleep after the active day they had. Mike, Kate, Ed and Kate grand parents went to few few hours later since it been a long day for them all. That night mike finish off where he left off when he and Kate were on the couch. They made love twice before falling asleep in each other arms.
The next day Kate grand parents and Ed took kids into town for the whole day since limo show up for them. Just before Ed got in he turn to Kate "Kate the kids Christmas gift will be here in an hour"
"What did you get them dad" He smile as he look over to the play area before getting into the limo and the door closing.
Kate turn to see where he was looking at then back to the limo just as it was driving away. Kate turn around and walk into the house and went looking for Mike she found him in the office doing some paper work
"Kate what wrong"
"It dad he brought kids another play toy for them"
"Out side type"
"Yes for there Christmas gift, it will be here in an hour"
"did he tell you what it is?"
"no but will will know soon as it arrives"
"Are you thinking that he gone over board" Kate smile
"Yes, he should of gotten them some thing smaller"
"Well let's wait and see what he got them, ok"
"Ok"
"come here" Kate walk around the desk.
Mike held onto Kate arm and pull her down onto his lap then he wrap his arms around her waist and kiss her. "don't worry to much about it Kate"
"I know he reminds me of when I was little in how he spoil me" She said thinking about what Ed brought her
"Well you are his only child and he spoil you cause you did great in school and never got into trouble plus look at you now"
"I know he making up for lost time"
"Yes he has and it makes him happy knowing that you and our kids are happy"
"i know" she kiss him back then turn to see what he was doing
"mike didn't you do all your reports before the holidays?"
"no it been busy with every thing that happen"
"ok, I'll leave you to finish your reports while I'll go and check on the washing" she kiss him before standing up and walking out of the office. Mike watch Kate walk out then he return back to his paper work.
Hour later Kate and mike heard a truck pull up in front of the garage and a ute behind it. Then four men got out of both the ute and truck just as Kate and mike walk out side and over to them
"Can we help you" Mike asked
"Mike, Kate Flynn"
"Yes, that us" Kate said
"We here to deliver a play set that" the look down at his clip board then back up to them
"Edward McGregor ordered" Kate turn to mike
"Dad Christmas gift to the kids" Kate said then turn to the guy
"Dad said that a delivery was this morning"
"Ok, well we will get it set up, where would you like it set up?"
"what is it that being set up" Kate asked. The guy showed her the picture.
When she saw it she was shock. She show it to mike "Your joking" Mike said looking at Kate
"Now we know"
"Ok how about next to the swings" Mike suggested
"Good idea" then they turn to the guy
"You want it next to the swing set"
"Yes" Kate said
"Ok which way"
"font looking towards the house" Kate said
"alright" then he turn to the other three
"Lets get started" Mike and Kate return back in side leaving the men to do there job.
"Kids going to love there Christmas gift" Mike said
"Yes they are"
Two hours later Mike and Kate heard the ute and truck leave so they walk out side and over to where the play area is.
"wow, kids sure going to love this" Kate said as she walk up the steps with Mike behind her
"Yes they are."
Mike and Kate walk up up to a wooden ship that got three different slides. One that went out on one side and another on the other side. Plus there one that went down in the middle of the ship. There was a captain wheel, ropes for kids to clip the mask when they get older since the ship look like a pirate ship.
"Lets see what down below" Kate said
as she walk over and sat down on the slide then push her self till she slide down the slide tube till she stop at the bottom. She stood up and look around the room to see a seater for kids to sit on plus table and seater seats for kids to use. Kate turn around when mike slide down the slide.
Then he stood up and look around "Kids going to love this" Mike said
"Yes they are. There rope steps that lead up to the top of the ship"
"Yeah"
They look around for few more minutes before opening the door and walking out side closing the door behind them then they look around the ship before returning back in side to get some lunch while talking about the ship.
Later that evening Mike and Kate walk out side when the limo showed up. Mike open the back door to see one of Kate grand mother passing sleeping Mary to him
"How was your day?" Mike asked
"It was good but tiring" she said when she got out.
Then Kate other grand mother got out then the two grand fathers carrying Patrick and Grace in there arms then Ed got out carrying Connor in his arms.
"Lets get these kids to bed" Mike said then they walk in side while Kate and her grand mother went and collected the bags that the driver got from the boot of the limo and pass it to them
"thank you, merry Christmas" Kate said
"you to ma'am" then Kate and her grand mother walk in side while the driver got in and drove away.
Mike, Ed and Kate two grand fathers put kids to bed after they remove the shoes and socks from there feet and cover them with a sheet. Then they walk out of the room and return back down stairs and into the living room just as Kate walk in with tray of cold drinks. She put them on the coffee table just as they all sat down. Kate past them all a drink each before she sat down next to Mike.
"did the kids gift arrive?" Ed asked
"Yes dad the ship arrived" Kate said smiling
"do you think that they would like it"
"they will love it" mike said
"Have you check it out?"
"Yes we have" Kate said. They talk for couple of hours before going to bed since it been along day and longer one the next day since it Christmas day.
The next morning Mike and Kate were up early cause of there kids. Mike went to see Patrick and Connor awake so he help them get change into clean clothes and they been to the loo before going down stairs for breakfast. Kate went and see Grace and Mary. She did the same with them.
When the six of them were in the kitchen. They pick kids up and put them on the breakfast stools that at the breakfast bar. Mike went to get them a drink while Kate cook up breakfast while they talk to there kids. Mike just starting to dish up breakfast when Ed and Kate grand parents walk into the kitchen.
"Merry Christmas kids" Ed said
"Merry Christmas grand dad" Kids said then others said the same thing.
"Here you go dad, grand ma, grand dad" Kate said passing them there plate of bacon, eggs and grilled tomato.
"Thanks Kate" they all said as they walk over and sat down at the table since it was set up while mike made them a drink then take it over to them.
Then He got his and Kate while Kate dish up there breakfast then they walk over and sat down at the breakfast bar next to there kids. They talk while listening to some Christmas songs. After breakfast and dishes were done. They all went out side.
When kids saw the ship "Oh wow" "cool" they all said as there eyes lit up then they turn to Kate and mike
"thank grand dad, grand ma and grand pa" Kate said to them. They turn to there grand father and great grand parents.
They hug them "what do you kids say?" Kate said
"thank you" they all said then ran over to check out there Christmas present.
Mike. Kate and her family walk over to the ship seeing kids checking it out as they were having fun for the next hour.
"come on in side there more gifts to open" Kate said.
Then they all walk back in side and into the living room where Mike and Kate pass out the Christmas gifts to every one then they sat down and open theirs. Then after every one open there gifts. Mike went and got every one a drink while Kate went and started getting lunch on.
Every one had a fun day. Mike called his parents since he got phone connected to the house. He Ed and Kate spoke to Mike family for over an hour. That night they had sandwiches for dinner since they had a big lunch.
Later that night Mike was in bed while Kate was in the bathroom. When she open the door she turn the light off as she walk towards there bed. Mike was reading a book till he look up when he heard the bathroom door open.
Mike look shock when Kate walk towards the bed. He put the marker back in the book he was reading, closing the book and putting it on the bed side table
"wow so this is your Christmas present to me"
"Ah ha"
Kate pull the covers off mike then she got on all fours and crawl over mike while not taking her eyes off him till she was close to him. She then kiss him as she straddle his lap. When they broke the kiss she move back so Mike could look her over
"you like it"
"Yeah I do" Kate was wearing Santa hat and Christmas barbie doll nightie.
Mike took the hat off and toss it onto the floor then he remove the barbie doll out fits off Kate as he kiss her and roll them both till he was on top. They made passionate love three times before falling asleep in each other arms with smiles on there faces.
Over the next few days Mike and Kate spend the whole time with there family. After new years Ed and Kate parents flew back to England on the fifth, day after Mike and Kate eighth wedding anniversary. Then two days later Kate and kids flew back to Sydney since mike was leaving the next day for three week patrol now that Hammersley was fix.
The morning that Hammersley was due to leave for it patrol Mike was in Steve office talking about what been happening in the past six weeks. "Looking ford to going out to sea Mike" mike smile
"Yes and no" Steve raise his eye brows at Mike
"Family Steve it been great spending it with Kate and our kids"
"You miss them don't you"
"Yeah I do, any word on when Kate going to be transferred up here Steve"
"sorry mike there nothing"
"i under stand, so who my new XO" Steve pick up a file and pass it to mike.
"Lieutenant Ken Goodwin" Mike open the file and read what it says about the lieutenant
"Lieutenant Goodwin was in the same class as Kate in ADFA but not at Watson bay... he fail at ADFA and just been promoted to lieutenant last year when he return back from the gulf" Mike said as he read the lieutenant profile. He close the file then look at Steve
"Mike give this one a chance"
"I will Steve"
"good, now your new Navigator it took a lot of convincing fleet command about having lieutenant Caetano on Hammersley. I hope you choice right mike" Mike smile
"It was Kate who choice her but didn't tell me till after I told her her who I think was best on Hammersley. She pass me piece of paper, it got the lieutenant name down. Steve I trust Kate judgment she know who the best and she knows what I'm like"
"your right Mike, have you read her profile?"
"Yes I have and I've spoken to her in person last year towards the end of the course. I spoke to her and four other lieutenants who I choice. I spoke to them one on one. It was lieutenant Cateano who made me decided after I ask her what her goals are and how well she think she can do on a patrol boat. She was honest in her answer and that is what I want as a crew member"
"How do you think she will cope with all male crew?" Mike smile
"I ask her that she told me she grew up with four older brothers and she work on frigates where there ninety percent males"
"that good to know that she not concern about that"
"i agree Steve" They talk for another ten minuted when mike saw who walk into the ball pen so he stood up
"Excuse me Steve" then he walk out of Steve office and over to Nikki
"lieutenant Caetano welcome to NAVCOM" they saluted each other
"thank you sir"
"Manage to find a place lieutenant"
"Yes sir and move in just before Christmas"
"that good, I'll interduce you to CO here"
"Ok" They walk towards and into Steve office.
"Commander Steve Marshal lieutenant Nikki Caetano"
"sir"
"Lieutenant" they saluted each other.
"Please sir down lieutenant" Nikki sat down just as mike did.
They talk for ten minutes when lieutenant Goodwin walk into the ball pen so Steve went to talk to the lieutenant then they walk into Steve office where Steve interduce the lieutenant to Nikki and Mike. They talk for another five minutes before walking out of Steve office.
"I'll meet you both on Hammersley" Mike said
"Yes sir" the two lieutenant said then they went there separate ways.
