chapter 22 – The goodbyes

It was a warm and cloudy afternoon, and at the time Ines was sitting in the middle of the patio of the moisture farm, with her baby and her twin daughters, while her husband took Ben and R2 to Anchorhead to get some supplies they needed.

Sitting in top of the big blanket, holding a plastic plate with Reaya puree and she was giving to baby Luke, while his two older sisters, who already had their blue yogurt, were near them, with Alli wrapping her arms around her baby brother, and hugged him tightly, starting to upset him, who didn't like when people squeeze him for to long.

"Alli, sweetheart, you are upsetting your brother with so much squeeze," Ines giggled, looking at her baby, who started to whimp and try to make his big sister to let him go.

"I just want to give him kisses," she said looking at him and wrapped her arms around him, giving another kiss, which made Luke whimp more and grabbed her hair and started pulling, making Alli scream.

"See," Ines said grabbing her baby's hand and making him let go his sister's hair.

Rubbing her head, Alli frown at her baby brother.

"Bad baby," she said standing up and deciding to play with her own toys next to her mother which made Ines looked at her and ran her hair from her face.

"I told you to not upset him," she said.

"Mama, when Papa will come from Anchhead?" Padmé asked her, making Ines laughed.

"It is Anchorhead, sweetie, and I'm sure he and your older brother will be here soon with R2," she explained giving another spoon of the puree and give to the baby.

"Why Papa went there?" Alli asked looking at her too.

"He needed to get something for the farm that we need and he didn't need to take all of us again," she winking at her making the little girl giggled.

"When you will continue your story?" Padmé asked.

"Well I can tell when your father and brother return with R2," she said, looking at her baby, who started to crawl around, being very curious about the little sand it was on the patio, looking at his hand all dirty with it, and she had to stop him on his tracks, since he was about to put his hand on his mouth.

"No way little guy," she said cleaning his hand, which made the baby looked at his mother with a frown. "Don't do that frown like your father cause I'm not scared of you, young fella, just like I'm not afraid of your father either."

"Afraid of me?" a voice was heard and looking at the entrance she smiled when she saw her husband with their first born and R2 right behind them.

"Your son is doing a frown towards me, because I wouldn't let put his dirty hand inside his mouth," she informed, giggled when her baby smiled and wanted to crawled towards his father.

Putting what they got inside the kitchen, Luke walked towards her, and sitting down, he smiled when his son, started to crawled on his father's legs, making Luke picking him up and kissed his little cheeks.

"What is it little fella?"

"I think he missed his father," Ines laughed while baby Luke opened his mouth accepting another spoon of puree. "So, how was Anchorhead?"

"The same thing. Gladly we got everything we needed," he replied smiling at his baby who started to get his attention to his father's lightsaber, making Luke sitting the baby away from it, which once again he didn't like and looked at him frowning. "Don't frown at your father mister."

"See," Ines laughed at that.

"Mama, now that Papa and Ben are here, can you tell us more about your story?" Padmé asked facing her.

Ines looked at her and to the others and sighed.

"Okay, so where was I?"

"You just left Jabiim and the Empire was right behind your ship," Ben said right away sitting down in front of her, which made his baby brother started to pull the sleeves of his white tunic, that he was wearing that day, on top of his light blue blouse, that once belonged to his father.

"Good memory, sweetie," she smiled at him, specially when Ben grabbed Luke and made his baby brother sat on his lap, while Ines continue to give him the puree. "So, like you said the Empire was right behind us, and we couldn't go in lightspeed cause the hyperdrive was damage."

"So how did you escape?" Luke asked his wife.

"Someone did exactly the same thing that a certain guy name Luke Skywalker did years later in Endor," she said smiling at him. "Ben decided to face Vader."

"So he left you and aunt Leia?" Ben asked his mother.

"Well he left us with someone else," Ines started…

Flashback

Somewhere in space, 9BBY

10 years old Ines appeared at the door, watching an Obi Wan Kenobi, sitting down, holding his lightsaber.

"Are you scared?" she asked approaching the old Jedi Master.

Obi Wan looked at her and nod.

"Yes, I am," he said being honest with her.

"When I feel scared or nervous every time I need to do something big, I think of the people that I love and I feel fine after that, because they give me confidence and strength" she said making Ben smiled at the 10 years old.

"Thanks for the advice," he told her. "So who are those people?"

"My parents, my two older brothers," she started. "Leia, even if she drives me crazy sometimes." she continued making Ben laughed at that remark.

Looking at the little girl, he knew there was someone else that she didn't mentioned or was hiding.

"Anyone else? Cause I have a feeling there is someone else, right?"

Ines looked at him, and simple nod.

"Who is it?"

"You think I'm crazy, just like Leia keeps saying to me," she said looking at him.

"Try me."

Sighing, Ines started to speak.

"There is a boy that I sometimes see in my dreams, and I think of him too."

"A boy? What boy?" Ben asked right away.

"I don't know who he is, but I started to see him in my dreams weeks ago. He is not from around."

"How does he look like?"

"He has the hair like the golden sand from where he lives and the eyes like the blue sky," she said looking at Ben, who gasped the moment she said that.

"Are you sure?" he asked her, making Ines nod.

"Why?" she asked this time. "You know who he is, don't you? He is real, isn't he?"

Sighing, Obi Wan made Ines looked at him straight in the eyes and nod.

"What is his name? Where is he?" she started to asked right away.

"Ines, listen to me," Ben started to tell. "I know this seems very strange for you, but when you get older you will understand, and everything will become clear for you, but for now, it is better that you've been kept in the dark about this. For your safety, Leia's and everyone you love."

The 10 years old looked at the old Jedi Master.

"Him too?"

"Yes. So, less people know about this, the better. Do you understand?"

"I do," She nod. "Will I ever see him, for real?"

"What does your heart tell you?" Ben asked her.

"Yes. Yes I will." she replied.

"Then you will. Just be patient and trust the force," he said looking at the 10 years old in front of him. "I know that I said to Leia that she is the future, but so are you, more than you think."

Ines looked at him.

"Promise you will come back and see us one more time in Alderaan?"

Ben smiled and ran his hand on her cheek.

"I promise."

"I will hold on to that promise," she said and all of the sudden she hugged him, making Obi Wan hugged her back tightly.

Then Roken appeared, making them pull apart.

"Dropship's all set," he informed. "You don't have to do this, you know." he continue looking at Ben. "We can till fix the drive."

"I have to go," Ben told him and looked at Ines, stroking her face.

"This has nothing to do the drive, right?" she asked him, making Roken looked at the 10 years old and then back to Ben.

"It's not about us, is it?" He finally understood Ben's motivations. "You want to do it. Even she, with 10 years old saw that right away. It is about you and him." he said, when the ship shook at the sound of an explosion.

"Just keep them safe," Ben told him.

"Keep yourself safe, too" Roken replied.

"Roken, there are not many leaders left. People follow you. Don't stop."

"I'm just getting started," he smiled before he leave the room.

"He is good," Ines smiled at Ben.

"Yes he is," he looked at her. "Now go you too. Haja will take you and Leia to Alderaan."

"Haja?! I think I would be a lot safer by myself," she said rolling her eyes and left the room, making Obi Wan giggled at the little girl.

"Well, good luck with her, Luke. You will going to need that." he said before leave the ship.

Tatooine, Present Day

"So he left to face Vader," Luke said looking at her, while Padmé sat on his legs, eating one of her favorite cookies he brought from Anchorhead for his twins.

"Yes, he did."

"What happened, mother?"

Ines looked at her boy and smiled

"I don't know sweetie. I never asked him what happened between them."

"Well we know that none of them was killed, that's for sure," Luke said looking at his wife.

"Did Uncle Ben kept the promise, mama?" Padmé asked, grabbing a piece and made her father eat it.

"Yes he did. Even if I was taken by surprise." she said to her.

"Why?"

"Well because your grandmother called me to meet her and your grandfather in the platform where the Organas always waited for their guests. Which I found strange, since nobody besides them would do that, since they were the royal family. So I didn't believe it, until she had to fetch me herself," she giggled.

"Mama was in trouble," Alli giggled at her mother.

"Me, I was never in trouble, young Lady," she smiled, pulling her daughter towards her arms and kissed her on the cheek.

"What happened?" Luke asked.

"Well, I was almost winning the little track I was doing, when my mother interrupted me, and drag me out of the field towards the platform," Ines started to tell them.

Flashback

Alderaan, 9BBY

Alli Talia was in the elevator that would took her and her daughter to the platform, while she was trying to clean Ines white outfit from any dirt it would have.

"I can't believe I had to drag you out of that training field myself," she said looking at her. "Look at you, there is no time for you to change clothes so you have to be there like this."

"I'm not that dirty," she said looking at her mother. "Where is father?"

"He is already there, waiting for us."

"Why are we there? We are not part of the royal family and only them greet the guests who come to Alderaan!"

"Well your godparents asked us to be there with them, so that's why." she said looking down at her daughter smiling.

Once the elevator doors opened, they stepped out of it.

"I was able to drag her out of that training field, finally," Alli said holding Ines's right hand.

"Right when I was wining," the 10 years old told looking at her mother.

"Well I'm glad that I can at least say goodbye to my favorite fighter before I leave," someone spoke.

The moment Ines heard that familiar voice, she looked straight forward and gasped when she saw Obi Wan standing there, next to Leia.

"BEN!" she screamed and letting go her mother's hand right away, she ran towards the old Jedi Master and jumped into his arms, making him laugh at the little girl's reaction.

"Well that is what I call a great reception," he said looking at her.

"You came," she said smiling.

"Well I made a promise, didn't I?" he smiled back at her.

"Is he okay?" Ines asked, knowing that Ben would know exactly what she was asking.

"Yes, he is okay, don't worry."

"When will I meet him?"

Looking at Ken and Alli Talia, Ben looked back at her and smiled.

"Patience."

Sighing Ines nod as Ben put her on the ground and she head to Leia who was holding Lola.

"Thank you for everything," Alli Talia said hugging him.

"Well, it was a pleasure to meet them," he said looking at the little girls. "She is bless to have such great parents like you."

"We are the ones who feel bless for having her as our daughter," Ken said smiling.

"Just like her future kids will be lucky to have both of them as their parents," he said looking at the girls as he walked towards them.

"Are you leaving already?" Ines asked him.

"It is time for me to go," he said crouching in front of them.

"Will I ever see you again?" Leia asked.

"Well, maybe. Someday. If you ever need help from a tired old man," he said making her smiled at that remark.

"What about me? Will I ever see you again too?" Ines asked him.

"Yes, we will see each other again in the future. That I can tell you for sure," he told her. "But we must be careful. No one must know, or it could endanger us."

"Don't worry, it is like I never saw you in my life," Ines said making Ben smile and pulled the girls into a hug.

"Goodbye, Obi Wan," Leia said.

"Goodbye Princess," Ben looked at Leia and then to Ines. "See you soon, Ines. May the Force be with you both." he said standing up and walking towards his ship, he left.

Once the ship was out of site, everyone was started to leave the platform, except Ines, who was standing there, looking at the sky.

"Sweetheart, why are you standing there?" Ken said approaching his daughter.

"I was just thinking," she said looking at her father.

"About what?"

"Well, I just found out what name will I give to my first child," she said right away. "Ben."

"Oh really," Ken laughed. "And what if the father wants to give a different name for my grandson."

"I have a feeling he doesn't mind either," she said making Ken laughed as they walked out of the platform.

Present Day

"And you were right, I didn't mind at all," Luke said smiling at her and then look at their son.

"That's when you decided about my name?" Ben asked smiling at his mother.

"Yes, it was. It was right there that I knew my first boy would be named Ben, and years later you were here with us," she said running her hands on her son's brown hair.

"So you never saw him again?" he asked her.

"I saw him a year later, here on Tatooine with your grandfather, and 8 years later we met again, and that was when I met your father and my life changed forever."

"Well you two already had met each other before, even if it was for a seconds," Obi Wan appeared making them look at the force ghost.

And Ines story is complete. Now it will be Luke's time. But what Obi Wan meant by saying Luke and Ines had met before?
