Moving to his outing with Tsunade, Naruto heard similar things about his idea. She opposed to him even casually mentioning Konoha and Suna names after what he had done because it was already enough.
"And, I am not interested in becoming a Jinchuuriki. I believe I am best suited as a support, not direct combat. I think Mei Terumi would be the best candidate for the turtle." Tsunade rejected Isobu's meeting after hearing about it while showing no interest in the power.
"But, why not? You are literally the second strongest person in Konoha and top ten in the world. I don't think there is anyone more suited for combat then you." Naruto denied her rejection as he couldn't see any reason for it.
The duo was sitting under the moon light at the roof of a restaurant owned by the Akimichi clan. They had a private room to themselves, so their conversation was not being heard by anyone else.
"Sign" Tsunade took a bite from her friend meat and took a sip of sake to wash it down. His words really showed that Naruto needed urgent education to understand the big picture. The young man had no idea how other parts of society operated, nor did he know about their roles.
"Naruto before you speak with the other leaders, please, make sure to discuss your decisions with me or Kakashi. And, you are in need of urgent education, so give me half a year for it." Tsunade presented her solution as she looked at him. She knew how Naruto hated sitting down and reading, and learning about such complex topics. It was even one of his worst nightmares.
"I have no problem with that. I already decided to learn once I decided to step on this road. However, this has nothing to do with your decision to step out of the battlefield."
"My reason is simple; someone needs to watch the research and healers. If I am busy with training and fighting, I wouldn't know what the researchers are doing and that could lead to dangerous results. It would also keep me away from improving the medical facilities and endanger our medical system. Naruto just like you are an important guardian to the world, I am also a core in the field of healing and It would be a tragic step to put the healer at the forefront."
"Does that also disqualify Sakura?"
"Yes, I wouldn't recommend for her to take the battlefield. Sakura has almost learned everything I know, and she can help me along with Shizune to keep moving our research in the proper direction. However, I can't control her and maybe she might choose the battlefield instead of research." Tsunade had seen Sakura and felt that the girl might drop healing all together to pursue power. There was a sense of madness clawing itself into her heart that stemmed from her inability to stop Sasuke and her powerlessness to even participate in the final fight.
Tsunade couldn't understand how she felt since her team mates were never stronger than her, especially not to such an extent. Though, she did feel the desire for power after seeing Naruto. She wanted to protect him, but the best way for that was to indulge in research that she had been avoiding for a long time.
Naruto was silent for a time and finally saw her point. Tsunade was the only that was trustworthy that could understand the full extent of the research and could keep it from derailing into the wrong direction. Others could only watch and the researchers could easily trick them with scientific terms that were beyond their understanding.
"Fine, is there any way I can help the research?" Naruto finally gave in and decided to find a way to help.
"We are planning to mix up the genetics of all the powerful clans around the world to help us get back to our roots. It should directly boost our base strength and allow us to grow beyond pour current limitations.
However, we also plan to utilize the genetics of other species to go even further. Our kind is great in some aspect, but there are other species that surpass us in different aspects. I am talking of our base without chakra enhancement. For example, the giant turtle that was big as an island. If we could incorporate its genetics our base life force and other stats would reach insane heights. That is just the beginning because there are other wonderful species that we can use that live in the Dark Ocean and some that live on the Myriad Beast Continent. Through this genetic enhancement, we might be able to actually put up a real resistance against these threats. Don't you feel excited now? Isn't it relaxing to know that we can kick their ass?" Tsunade hyped up the research and managed to finally kick out the insecurities inside of Naruto. He felt excitement wash over him to know that even without using the Sage's knowledge, as humanity was able to bring out something of use.
Humanity was truly a marvelous creation.
"Really?"
"Yes, we can do it. So, what beast do you want to use? The real Kyuubi or the mystical dragon." Just as Tsunade mentioned, such creatures exist in the world of the Shinobi but they were outclassed by humanity and forced to hide.
Though, most normal people relish in the stories of those mystical beings and talk about how the ninja and samurai fought them. However, none considered those beasts as real threats unlike the tailed beasts.
"There is another Kyuubi outside and you must be pulling my leg with the dragon. Or is there a slime out there as well." Naruto had played dragon quest and was a fan of dragons, but he had never seen one in his life.
"There isn't a slime, but there is a dragon. There were many of them in the past but most got hunted down and now only few remain. As for the Kyuubi, the one inside you is a chakra beast while the one out in the world is a true beast of flesh.
Since we are already talking about mystical beasts, let me mention the others as you will have to collect their samples.
There is the giant Moth was mental abilities called Mothra. There is also the giant gorilla called King Kong, who is the monkey king of the region.
There is ice wolf called Roen also known as Fenrir who seemed to have been sealed in the Howling Wolf Village. There is the humongous snake that is around 100 kilometers in size called Jormugandr. There is the three headed giant dog called Cerberus. There is the lightning Tiger called Byakko and finally there is also the fire bird called the Phoenix.
The king of the monster was a special kind of dragon named Gojira. It might have been difficult for even a Kage to actually invade the continent and fight these species, but it shouldn't be an issue for you." Tsunade turned out to be a real mad scientist as she talked about these beautiful creatures like they were medical models ready to be dissected. Though, she also seemed to fan girl about their beauty and features.
It was a unique experience to see such a side of Tsunade as he had never really seen her speak about her field or her hobbies. Her excited explanation also got him into the spirit and Naruto came to appreciate these creatures. He was looking forward to meeting them soon and it also made sense of those large signals of life force around the world.
"What about you? Which one are you looking forward to?"
"Me? I didn't even consider the idea. Let me think, hmmmm…. I think the dragon would be the best choice. It should give me a strong life force and high stats that should be higher than all the other options. Since you are avoiding it, I believe a combination of these species will be the best for you. You need to stay above all of us or people would group together and pull you down." Tsunade didn't forget to keep reminding him of the traitorous nature of humanity as Naruto had the tendency to trust others.
Naruto didn't feel right with that plan. It was unfair of him to monopolize such a benefit and it showed in his expressions.
"I know people can betray us, but we shouldn't be expecting such negative results from them. I don't want to monopolize anything, and I will use people's negative desire as a motivation point to push beyond them naturally. So, don't hold back on enhancing others as anyone might become the guardian of this world. No one knows what the result might be, some people might be better suited and even surpass my powers."
"That's what I don't want to happen. I know you, but I won't know those unknown people. Forget about it, we still have a long way to get there and the world might have become a better place by then." Tsunade stopped talking on the topic to avoid a lengthy and pointless talk since Naruto wasn't going to listen. He was annoyingly persistent on some points and wouldn't listen.
"My mind won't change on this topic…" Naruto stared into her eyes to show his seriousness and she caught him by the collar before dumping sake into his throat from the jug.
"Drink and shut up about that nonsense. Don't make the night frustrating; let's talk about something normal for once. How close have you gotten with Hinata now? Or, are you still aiming for Sakura?"
Returning home for the night, Naruto was completely sober even after drinking countless liters of the strongest drink available that was even capable of taking out a giant beast with a single cup.
It was the wonder brought by being the Jinchuriki, especially Kurama's. Naruto did have some healing ability from his Uzumaki Gene's, but it was completely minor and wasn't enough for such a task. It was unfortunate, but he only got half of the Uzumaki starter package.
"I agree with what the Hokage has said, Mei Terumi would be the better choice for Isobu. We will find another way for my strength to increase. Maybe, one of those mystical beings could be a good substitute." Kakashi and Naruto lay on the back of a giant whale that was around 2 kilometer in size. It was one of the biggest underwater species in the Dark Ocean, though it was completely dwarfed by the Ocean King also known as the Abyss of the Deep called the Leviathan.
Relaxing on the gigantic beast, the duo watched the night sky while the whales moved in unison and all the other beast seemed to have a desire to move in unity with them because of the peaceful aura from Naruto.
"Byakko? I think it was the only lightning style beast."
"Maybe, but there are others as well. There is a lightning dragon and even a lightning Owl. If we are going for the best, I think I want to fuse with the dragon. Though, it won't really be much of boost since the dragon would be weaker than me." Kakashi answered casually while making the figures of those creatures with illusions.
It didn't seem Kakashi held much belief in using other creatures as alternatives because how weak they seemed in comparison.
"What about the Monster King then? Shouldn't it be a good alternative?"
"Naruto, the fusion with the other creatures wouldn't really work since they actually lack chakra levels. Look at this beast and see that it barely has any chakra in direct opposition to its body size. Just because a creature is big, doesn't mean it has a large chakra reserve. That is only true for the Bijuu, since they are chakra beasts and actually made from it.
It would be better to just wait for the Hokage to use the genes of those creatures, instead of fusing with them. They could be used as summons but a fusion partner is not it. It would require a lot of hard work to push their chakra levels up, like the Inuzuka clan does with their dogs." Kakashi turned to Naruto and said his points. It showed the difference in their view as Kakashi didn't think about empowering the beasts around them to a new level and he also didn't believe in giving a full boost to the rest of humanity.
Just like Tsunade, he had also lived through war and couldn't really trust people to such an extent. The idea seemed ideal on paper but it was just asking for trouble since the beasts would definitely cause a mess.
"Is it better to have more powerful beasts to help us? They are already powerful without chakra, so once we give it to them then their abilities go through another boost. It should allow us to not get limited to the Bijuu. I think I can easily boost other beasts once I learn how to do it." Naruto felt excited to see another way to boost the power of humanity. He hadn't even considered creating other powerful beasts for fusion. It truly was useful talking to intelligent and experienced individuals.
Looking at Naruto's expression, it seems he had just dropped the axe on his foot. It was impossible to get him to reconsider and Kakashi's reason for denying it would be his distrust of people and other creatures.
"Fine, I will treat you how to raise a ninja pet since you might actually need it to create your summons." Kakashi gave in to Naruto's flow and accepted that the world was changing, and it might be completely different within five years with their current pace.
He didn't know if it was for the better or for the worst, but he was going to fight for it alongside his little brother.
'I will never allow him to die.' It was the only thing that was clear in his mind. He had become extremely protective of Naruto and for that, the former copy ninja was willing to go to the extremes.
"I am listening." Naruto was happy to learn and spend time with Kakashi. It really felt like family now, completely different from the past. The relationship had evolved from student and teacher to a familial bond.
"Okay, let me show you with this whale." Kakashi placed his hand on the whale and made his chakra spread through its nervous system/chakra system.
It had a little flame of chakra that was barely enough for an academy student. Connecting with the system, Kakashi started pouring his chakra inside its chakra center. The small flame was easily overflowed, so Kakashi guided the rest into its body to further strengthen it.
The process was delicate as Kakashi was focusing on the chakra center and the rest of the body. With a single mistake, the creature's chakra system could burst and kill it in the process or the other body parts could rupture from a mistake.
It was an extremely slow process and most of the chakra was completely wasted. Naruto could see why it took many years to actually boost a pet to become a proper partner. It was why the Inuzuka clan started at infancy instead of teenage hood.
"Now you try, let's see if it is possible to accelerate It." Kakashi stopped since his method barely made a change even after expanding half of his chakra.
"Okay let me try." Naruto had observed with his eyes so it was exactly stored in memory and with his perfect control, he was able to replicate it with ease.
Naruto copied the steps without his Six Paths Mode and Kurama mode, though he was already partially in six paths mode because of the Rinne-Sharingan.
The difference was clear as the Whale went through visible changes because of Naruto's high quality chakra. With his perfect control, Naruto was able to utilize all of the chakra and not let a single drop slip away.
It was difficult increasing the chakra reserve of the creature; however the physical capabilities were enhanced at a visible pace.
The experiment was a success, and with the full power from Naruto it could even reach further heights.
"It seems like we can use this idea. So, how about taming the leviathan for me?" Kakashi had the crazy idea of fusing with multiple beasts representing the different elements. It would easily become equivalent to fusing with a Bijuu and he would be able to support Naruto properly.
Looking at his smile, Naruto also smiled and the duo jumped from the back of the whale to hunt down the ocean king.
