Chapter 46 – Visiting the Family
The morning came cloudy and very cold. Since it was weekend, many families and people were at their homes and apartments, where it was warm.
The Skywalkers were no different. Around 9 am, after they all woke up, Luke and Ines decided to spend the morning at home. They want to re watch the first episodes of the The Clone Wars on the screen, that they weren't able to watch because of Mon Mothma party, and they promised they would do that the next morning with their kids. And that was what they did.
Luke and Ines decided that after the kids nap, after lunch, they would go to Leia and Han's apartment to talk about the party, but also to check their nephew/godson Anakin, and to see how the little kid was doing and if he was feeling better.
4 in the afternoon
The Skywalkers were heading to the Leia and Han's apartment, two levels below theirs, not only because they want to check on their nephew, but also they want to tell about the party and also show what Mon Mothma gave to Luke the previous night, and see it with them.
The moment they entered inside the apartment, they were greet my 3PO who had opened the door for them.
"Oh Master Luke! Mistress Ines! Good afternoon. It is so good to see you, especially in this cold weather we are getting lately."
Ines smiled at the protocol droid. 3PO would never change that was for sure.
"You are right. It is cold. How are they?" Luke asked tapping 3PO on the shoulder and looking inside the home.
"General Solo and Mistress Leia are in the living room with the twins and miss Iris," he replied stepping aside, while they all walked in, leaving 3PO with R2, the two friends always had something to talk when they were together.
The moment they entered in the living room, the girls ran towards Han and Leia, who smiled when they saw them.
"Hey look who is here?" Han said, looking at his nieces who sat on the couch near him.
"We came here to see how Anakin is?" Padmé said looking at him and then to Anakin who was sitting on the other couch eating a slice of bread with cheese.
The moment he saw his uncle and aunt alongside his cousins, he smiled at them.
"Well I see someone is feeling better," Luke said stroking his nephew blond hair.
"Yes he is. The fever is finally gone," Leia said, covering Bail with the blanket, while Luke and Ines sat down too with Ben.
The moment they did it, baby Luke started to whimp, clearly wanted to go to the floor. Putting the baby down, he crawl towards Chewie, who picked him growling happily, making the baby smile while drooling all over his bib while still sucking his pacifier.
"Hey buddy, I'm your uncle and godfather, but it is Chewie that you crawl right away when you get in? I thought you liked me," Han said smiling at the baby, who looking at his uncle, he reached him with his little right arm and grabbing Han's nose, he started to squeeze it, while he giggle at him, making the two set of twins laughed at the scene.
"Very funny kid," Han said but the smile never left his face. "You are lucky that you are so cute." he winked and kissed the baby's forehead, and looking at the girls and Ben, he asked them. "What about you three?"
"We are cold," Alli replied.
"What about you buddy?" Leia asked Ben, who was sitting next to his mother.
"I'm okay but it is cold," the 5 years old replied. "I hope it is not like that during my birthday."
"That's right, it is almost your birthday kiddo," Iris said stroking the kids brown hair. "6 years old now. You are getting big."
"I know," Ben nod with a smile.
"Time flies, that's for sure," Ines said pulling her older boy closer to her and kissed the top of his head.
"Don't even say that. I can't believe she is 14 now and these two are 4 already and going to make 5 this year," Leia said smiling at her kids, making the twins smile at their mother.
"And I see this one is feeling better already," Luke said with a smile.
"Yeah, thank goodness. Even is appetite came back, which reminds me why don't you give a slice of the tuna bread to your cousins."
Nodding, Bail ran to the kitchen and minutes later he came with slices of bread, that his cousins accepted right away. Even Luke whimp when he watched his sisters eating and frowning he looked at Chewie.
"Hey don't worry, uncle Han has one for you here," Han said laughing when the kid raised his arms towards his uncle. "Now you want me. You really are your parents child." He replied but picked the baby and started to give little pieces of the bread, which Luke liked it right away.
"So, how was the party last night?" Leia asked after a few minutes.
Luke and Ines looked at each other.
"Well it was fun and interesting at the same time, to say the least," Ines started looking back at Han and Leia. "At least we were in Mothma house for the first time and it is very nice actually. Right babe?"
"Yes. Everything was very nice. I mean we are use to see her in the Senate, and seeing in her home, so elegant was different. And knowing some of her closer friends and her husband, which it was the first time we actually spoke towards each other."
"How is he?" Han asked them, smiling when Luke, Jr grabbed his fingers and indicated he wanted more bread.
"We already saw him in Freedom Day and public parties before," Leia said looking at him.
"I know but he never actually talked with us, only Mon Mothma, which I don't complain, the guy seems a little strange for me," Han replied looked at her.
"Well Han is not wrong. I didn't like him either. I'm surprise how a nice woman like Mothma is married with a man like him," Ines replied. "Especially after the audacity he had to make that proposition to your brother."
Leia looked at Ines and then to Luke with a questioning look on her face.
"What proposition?"
"You guys know that Mon Mothma was married when she 15 years old?" Ines asked, which made Han frown at that information.
"What?"
"Well I knew that she was already a Senator when she was 16 years old, but I didn't know she was married at that time," Leia replied a little surprised.
"Yeah, she was already married," Ines continued.
"At the age of 15? She was a year older than our Iris," Han said very surprise at that.
"It was an arrange marriage too," Luke informed them.
"Well I remember hearing my parents talking about that in Chandrila, Mon Mothma system, they have that tradition," Leia replied.
"Mothma daughter was 13 actually when her marriage was arrange with her now actually husband," Ines told them.
"I didn't know that Mothma agreed with that tradition?" Leia said a little surprise.
"She didn't and she doesn't, but our parents told us that they don't have a good relationship and it was because of Mothma never agreed with the old traditions, that her daughter wanted to do it," Ines nod.
"Wait, are you telling that they tried to do that with you?" Han asked as he started to understand the whole conversation, which made Chewie growled.
"Not they, her husband Perrin. Apparently he had the brilliant idea to ask Luke for an introduction between his grandsons with our girls."
Everyone looked at them with wide eyes, even 3PO looked at them, which made R2 beeped too.
"Please tell me you choke the guy," Han asked to his brother in law, which made Luke rolled his eyes, while there was a beep and 3PO walked towards to the door.
"You know that is not the Jedi way, Han. But I told him no, of course. Do you think I would say yes? My kids will marry to whom they want."
"Actually I think you did good, after all I would feel sorry for the poor kids if they had to marry these two," Han said looking at nieces, who looked at him right away.
"I'm a nice girl," Padmé said right away.
"Sometimes," he said and starting to tickling them with his left arm, while he was holding the baby at the same.
Hearing the laughing, Amidala stopped with a big smile on her face watching the scene.
"What is going on here?" she asked.
"Grandma," Anakin and Bail ran towards her, making Amidala crouched and hugged her grandsons.
"I see someone is feeling better now," she smiled kissing the two boys, and heading towards Leia, she picked Luke Jr, when the baby raised his arms towards her. "Hello sweet baby. And how are you?" she asked looking at the twins and kissed Ben's told head and also Iris.
"I'm okay grandmother," Iris said sitting down, grabbing Bail and sitting him on her lap.
"What about you sweetie?" she asked at Ben.
"Cold," the boy said snuggling towards his mother.
"Oh yes it is still very cold. But I had to see how was my grandson, and I see he is feeling better."
"Yes he is," Leia smiled. "Where is Ahsoka?"
"She said she had to go to the lower levels. Something that she had to do. But what was happening here?"
"Luke just told us about what Mothma husband asked to him about the twins," Leia informed her.
"Oh that," Amidala nod sitting down near the twin boys. "You should have seen Mothma expression towards her husband when you two left. She was not happy with him. Your father and I just looked at each other, not knowing what to do, so after a while we decided to left them alone, but seeing from afar, and then her face when she approached us, she was angry. Don't be surprise if she visit you to apologize."
"But she has nothing to apologize," Luke said.
"But knowing her, she will do it." His mother replied. "By the way did you watch the thing she gave you?"
"What thing?" Leia asked right away.
"Well before we left, Mothma gave something to your brother. Apparently is a speech made by the mother of one the elements of Rogue One, the ones who got the plans of the first Death Star," Ines explained.
"She told us that in way this was the beginning of the Rebellion, and we would like to hear it. So Ines and I thought to hear with you."
"We will love it," Han said while Chewie growled nodding.
Taking the little device from his pocket, Luke put it on top of the small table that was in the center of his sister's living room. Since he got that, he was eager to hear what was in that device, and now he was finally hearing what motivate the Rebellion and how everything started.
In the next chapter they will finally see Marva's speech and know a little bit about Ferrix. And what business Ahsoka had in the lower levels?
