Chapter 50 – Old Friends Reunited
Ahsoka hugged Rex with a big smile.
"It is so good to see you again Rex and I'm so glad you came."
"Well when I heard that you need some help, of course we had to come and see what happened and why?"
"We?" she asked.
"I didn't came alone, of course. Gregor, Cody and Echo came, but they decided to stay where they are, until I find out what is going one and why you called is for help," he said looking at Amidala, who approached him.
"Hello Rex. And yes, I know you are surprise to see me but it is a story for other times."
"It is good to see you Senator;" Rex said with a smile.
"It is good to see you too Rex, and I'm not a Senator anymore."
Ken looked at everyone who was just standing there and decided that maybe it was time to get inside, and have the talk.
"How about we get inside and explain Rex what is going on?"
"My father is right. Please, you are welcome to join my son's birthday too," Ines smiled at the clone that she heard stories about but for the first time she was meeting in person.
Looking at her, Rex nod and they all went towards the kitchen, where the adults sat down by the table, while the kids started to play, being watched by the older ones.
"Here is a slice of cake for you," Amidala said putting a plate in front of him.
"Thank you. So who is the birthday boy?" Rex asked.
"Me," Ben said right away approaching him.
Rex looked at the now 6 years old and couldn't help but smile at the brown hair and blue eyes boy.
"Happy Birthday, then. How old are you now?"
"I'm six. And next school season, I will be a student here and be a Jedi like my father, and grandfather and my godfather."
Rex looked at Ahsoka, who knew that before explaining to him, a few introductions needs to be made.
"I think it is time to meet the family. The birthday boy here, is Ben."
"Ben Skywalker, aunt Ahsoka," he said right away making Ahsoka laughed.
"Ben Anakin Talia Skywalker, how about that?" she said winking at the boy. Looking back at Rex, she nod. "Yes, Ben here is Anakin and Padmé's grandson."
"I know that Anakin told you about us, after all it was thanks to your covers that we were able to talk when him and Obi Wan were fighting the war."
"Yes, I did. So you two had a kid?"
"Two. Twins," Amidala said looking at Luke and Leia. "These are our kids. Luke and Leia."
"Nice to meet you, Rex," Luke said shaking his hands.
"Nice to meet you too. But I thought that the kid died too, well now that you are alive, of course neither the child, or in this case the children."
"With order 66, and the fall of the Jedi, I had my kids and Bail and Ken here alongside with Obi Wan and Master Yoda, thought the best idea was to separate them."
"Because of Palpatine," Rex said right away.
"Exactly," Ken nod.
"So, Leia was taken by Bail and raise as his daughter, while Luke was sent to Tatooine to Anakin's family," Ahsoka explained.
"Senator Organa was a great man. He, alongside Senator Chuchi fought for us when Palpatine started to get rid of us and we started to be replace by stormtroopers."
"Well maybe that was for the best, after all every one knows that Stormstroopers can't aim very well," Han replied making everyone look at him. "What? It is true."
"This is my husband Han Solo and our dear friend Chewbacca," Leia said.
"You will get used to his bad humor and big mouth," Ines replied. "I'm Ines by the way. Ken's daughter and Luke's wife, and the sister in law of that one over there."
"You are for Alderaan too. I'm really sorry about what happened. And all the people you have lost," Rex said.
"Thank you," Leia replied, looking down and Bail who approached her.
"Mama I want more of this," he point to the small cheese nuggets on the table, making her laughed. Her boy loves to eat.
"Here sweetie," and looking at Rex she said. "This is Bail and that little blonde boy over there is Anakin. Our twin boys."
"And that is our girl Iris," Han point to the girl who was sitting next to him.
"I'm not they biological daughter. I'm adopted."
"Hey, you are our daughter," Leia said right away.
"I know, but I was just informing, since I'm way older than these two little nightmares," she said grabbing Bail, making the little boy laugh.
Then Padmé and Alli approached Rex with Grogu.
"I'm Padmé and this is Alli and that is Grogu. Are you Boba Fett twin?"
Din and Bo Katan glare to each other and made an afford not to laugh.
Rex look at the girls and then to the adults.
"Boba Fett is a clone, just like you, but he doesn't age like you. It was a request from Jango," Luke explained to him.
"Like Omega!" he said right away.
"Omega?" Ahsoka asked.
"Oh yes, I remember her. She was with some of your friends when someone tried to kill Senator Chuchi," Ken said remembering that time.
"Are you?" Alli asked making Rex looked at the girls.
"Not exactly sweetie. But you two are twins."
"Yes we are," the girls said at the same time.
"And how old are you?"
"Four," they said showing their fingers.
"And this is Grogu. He is old," Alli said making Rex laughed.
"I see he is like Master Yoda, so yes they age differently than humans."
Alli looked at him and a few seconds later she smiled.
"I like you Rex," and just like that she went play with the others.
"If my daughter likes you, it means you are good," Luke said with a smile.
"Oh and I think someone is being left out," Ines said picking the baby. "This is the youngest member of the Skywalker family: Luke, like his father." she said laughing at the baby who was more interesting in squeezing a piece of cake on his hands.
After introduce the rest of the adults to Rex, he looked at Ahsoka and decided to ask what he was pretty sure they were waiting for.
"Well, not that all the introductions are complete, can you tell me what is going on that you need my help?"
Ahsoka nod.
"Okay, what we are about to tell you will shock you."
Rex frown at that statement.
"What do you mean?"
"Thrawn is back, and this time we pretty sure it is way ore serious than back in the time when we had problems with him."
"Ahsoka, are you sure? He was gone for so long, I thought he was gone," Rex replied.
"We all did, but we are sure," Ahsoka said and decided to explain to Rex everything that happened, from the moment Alli was taken when she was a baby, Din explained what happened to Grogu, and the last events with the Gideon escaping, and the golden Kyber Crystal and the real ruler of the Galaxy.
"So you are telling me, that Thrawn and this Gideon guy, got a clone of a dead Jedi, and it was him who informed about that special Kyber Crystal that only respond to the true ruler of the galaxy, and he is after that!"
"Yes," Ahsoka informed him.
"But Thrawn doesn't have it. You do."
Glare at Luke, Ahsoka looked back at Rex.
"Yes, the Crystal is with us."
"So it means the true ruler is here," he said and looked to all the faces and then he looked back at the kids and for some reason his eyes locked at Alli who was laughing and jumping with Grogu and Padmé.
Looking back, Rex looked at Luke.
"It's your daughter. Anakin's granddaughter is the future Empress of the Galaxy."
"Yes she is. And Thrawn knows the crystal is with us and I'm sure he knows is one of our kids. I don't think we knows who yet, but if he finds out, he will do anything to take her from us, and I will not let that happen. That is why we are gathering friends, to fight by our side cause we know he is doing the same. But even if we didn't get help, nobody touch any of my kids ever again, and I would fight him with or without any help," Luke said, making everyone look at him in silence for a while.
Rex looked at the young Jedi.
"You look like you father but you have so much of your mother in you and for a moment I saw her in you," Rex said looking at Amidala.
"That's my son," she smiled at Luke. "But nobody will allow that to happen."
"Thrawn is too quite at the moment, we know something's up. We just don't know why or what," Bo decided to talk after being quite.
"I agree," Rex said.
"So now you know why I message you. The more the better," Ahsoka replied.
"Rex, you don't have to say yes. If you don't want to get involve, it is fine. We don't be upset at all. But as a mother, I want the best people to protect my daughter." Ines spoke.
Rex looked back at the little girl, who glare at him and wave with a smile, making the clone smile at her. Looking back at them, he sighed:
"I can't speak for my brothers. I need to talk to them first, but I can talk for myself and General Skywalker was a great friend to me, more than everything, so I will make sure nobody will hurt his granddaughter, cause I'm sure there was something he will ask me for sure. So you can count on me."
"I knew it," Ahsoka said and everyone sighed in relief that at least they had a great friend and ally with them.
