Chapter 55 – Bad News
2 days had passed since the moment the storm passed over Coruscant. When the lock down was lifted, the Senate had their first meeting and they decided to go check the lower levels and see if there was any damage and help the ones who needed it.
Luke and Ines also went to the Jedi Temple the first moment they could, to see everything and make sure the classes started as soon as possible.
The next day, after Luke woke up with that feeling, he went to his sister's home and talked to her about it. Han knew exactly what Luke was saying, and Leia made sure the moment the Senate was active again, she would make sure to talk to Mon Mothma and know if there was any news across the galaxy, which so far they didn't found anything, even if Luke continue to be sure something had happened.
At the moment he and Ahsoka were in the Temple with the kids, and with Mando, they decided it was nice for a little history lesson about The Clone Wars time, and having Rex with them, they decided that it was time for him tell him a little but about some missions he had during that time, since Cody, Gregor and Echo had left the moment they could, to meet with the other brothers and tell them what Luke and Ahsoka had told them, while Ines were heading to Dex Diner to order the lunch for all of them, with Bo Katan.
"So, what are you thinking of the place so far?" Ines asked her.
"It is nice just like everyone. Your students are good kids," Bo replied looking at her.
"Yes they are," Ines nod in agreement. "Ben told us about your sister, Satine and how a great ruler she was."
Bo Katan looked at Ines.
"Yes, she was. We were close when we were young, but with time we fell apart."
"What happened?" Ines asked.
"Let's say I joined the Death Watch and well we didn't made the right choices. At one time we got ourselves working with Count Dooku and even Maul and his brother Savage."
Ines frown at that information.
"You join the separatist and one of the worst Sith that this galaxy knew? Knowing that they were your sister's enemies and they would do anything to arm her and everyone who were against them?"
"I know, I'm not proud either, but I never want to harm Satine. She was my sister after all."
"And what made you change your mind?" Ines asked her.
Bo Katan sighed.
"Well let's say we realize that Maul was not a very trustful guy after all," she replied making Ines frown.
"I'm surprise you took that long to understand that. He was Palpatine's apprentice that tried to kill Ben and Qui Gon and was helping the separatists against my mother in law, the time she was Queen of Naboo. And also Dooku attempted on her when she was a Senator, which well if that didn't happened, my in laws who had never be together, fell in love and my husband would never be born, so I guess I have to thank him for that, in a way," Ines looked at her and smiled, making Bo giggled.
"Well now I know that," she said and stood silence for a while, which Ines deep inside knew why.
"Her death was not your fault. It was Maul's."
"Either way I can't help to blame me for it. If we never had joined him, he would never had challenged Vizsla, take the Darksaber and started ruling Mandalore."
"You know he was trying to get Ben, that was why he killed her in front of him. They loved each other, you know. He still does," Ines said.
"Well it was easy to see that when that happened. The pain on his face it showed me he share way more than friendship for Satine."
"It is sad. I can't imagine my life without Luke by my side," Ines said and glare at Bo. "I know that the moment I decided to be with him, especially after everything, a lot of enemies would go after him, I mean look what is happening now, but I still prefer having him in my life than don't having him at all."
"Is he still worried about that feeling he had days ago?" Bo Katan asked when they were near Dex Dinner.
"Yes. He believes that something bad happened and I know my husband, and if he thinks that, then it is true, even if we didn't get anything. But everything is working normal for 24 hours, and I'm sure we didn't have enough time to get news but we will. I know we will," Ines replied at the same time they reached the Diner.
Entering inside, they were surprise to see completely empty and that nobody came to greet them at that point.
Walking towards the counter, Ines looked around.
"Are you sure they are working?" Bo Katan asked.
"I believe so," Ines replied. "Hello anybody here?" she asked, when a few seconds later a woman that Ines never saw before appear from inside wearing a white apron.
"Good morning. May I help you?" she asked.
"Good morning. I'm sorry where is Hermione? Normally she is the one who always greet us," Ines asked looking at the new worker.
"Oh, she's busy helping Dex inside. You know after that big storm, we had some problems with the rain and have more work, so Dex hire me and this is my first day. But if you want I can called her if that makes you more comfortable."
"Oh no, of course not. I was just wondering. We are old clients, so I was surprise to see a new face here. What is your name?" Ines asked looking at young woman. She seemed to be a few years younger than her, with short dark hair and green eyes.
"My name is Vina Mals," she replied with a smile.
"Nice to meet you Vina. I'm Ines and this is my friend Bo-Katan."
Vina looked at them, and before she could say something, Dex came out from inside and the moment he saw Ines, he smiled.
"Skywalker, my dear friend. How are you? I heard you were sick during the storm."
"Oh my dear friend, I'm okay now. I had very good people to take care of me," Ines smiled hugging Dex.
"I bet you had," Dex laughed and looked at Bo. "And who we have here?"
"Oh this is a friend Bo-Katan Kryze," Ines said. "Bo, this is our dear friend Dex."
"Nice to meet you, Dex."
"You said Kryze. Are you relate to Duchess Satine? Obi Wan's Satine?"
"Yes Dex, that Satine." Ines said.
"Oh, I'm really sorry about what happened to her."
"Thank you," Bo replied.
Ines noticed that Bo was a little uncomfortable, she glare at Vina who was serving a client that just entered the Diner.
"So, you got a new waitress."
"Oh yes, I was thinking to hiring more employers because we are getting more and more work, and she appeared yesterday asking for a job and well, she came at a perfect time."
"I see," Ines said glaring at the young woman.
"But I'm guessing that you are here to order something."
"You know us too well. I have a big order to do, and if you don't mind you need to take it to the Temple if you don't mind?"
"Of course not. Just say what you want."
After Dex taking the big order that Ines asked, they said goodbye and left the Diner heading back to the Temple. As they were walking they started to notice some people who were walking through the capital, started to whispered towards each other while they walked to their tablets, which made Ines and Bo looked around with a frown.
"What is going on?" Bo asked.
"I have no idea," Ines replied.
As they reached the Temple stairs, Ines heard her name being called.
"Aunt Ines!"
Turning around, she saw her niece Iris, running in her direction and she knew something serious had happened by the look her niece had.
"Iris! What is going? What happened?"
"Didn't you see the news yet?" she asked her aunt.
Shaking her head, Ines looked at Iris.
"What news?"
"This just came up seconds ago," Iris said giving the table to Ines, who looked at it and the moment she saw what was on the news, she gasped looking at Bo.
"What?" Bo asked.
Showing the table, Bo gasped as well.
"He was right?" Bo said.
"We need to get inside right now," Ines said and the three of them ran inside, and head to the class room where Rex was telling some story of the Clone Wars and Luke and Ahsoka were watching with a smile on their faces, but the moment Ines appeared at the door, Luke looked at his wife and he knew something happened.
Walking towards them, he asked.
"What?"
Ines looked at him and then glare at Ahsoka and Rex.
"I think they need to be here too."
Looking back at the class, Luke entered in the room.
"Okay kids, how about we end this lesson for today. Go to the training room and do some exercises," he said and looking at his older students. "Can you help them?"
"Sure Master Luke," Nelah said and they all left the class, being watched by the adults.
Once the room was empty, Ahsoka looked at them.
"Something happened?"
Sighing Ines nod and looking at Rex she had a sorry look on her face.
"I'm really sorry Rex."
"Sorry? For what?" he asked.
Handling the table to Luke, Ines looked at him as he saw the news on it.
"Is this true?"
"Yes, sadly it is," Bo answered him.
"You were right babe. This is what you felt that night."
"What is it?" Ahsoka asked.
Looking at her and then to Rex, Luke sighed sadly.
"Kamino. It's capital Tipoca City was completely destroyed." Luke informed them, making Rex and Ahsoka gasped.
Here it is. Luke feelings were right. What will happened now?
