Chapter 56 – Breaking News
"What did you just say?" Rex asked in a shock tone.
"Lets not talk here. Lets go inside and sit down and first found out what happened first," Ines said tapping Rex shoulder.
Nodding and agreeing with her, they all went inside, where Din was sitting by the table talking to Noah and Aurea. The moment the others entered with a serious look, Aurea stood up.
"I know you well enough to understand that something bad happened, just by looking at your faces." she replied.
"Yes Aurea, we don't have good news." Ahsoka replied sitting down.
"What happened?" Din asked.
"Kamino capital, Tipoca City was destroyed," Bo told everyone.
Aurea gasped and had tears in her eyes, having Noah wrapping his arms around her shoulders.
"What do you mean? How?" Noah asked.
"Maybe we need to see the news first to have an idea about it," Ines explained and as they all sit down, Ines pressed the table and they heard the sound of breaking news, and they could see a middle age man, while below him in big red letters, the word "BREAKING NEWS" was flashing.
"Lets heard what they are saying," Ahsoka suggested and they all stayed in silence hearing him.
"Good morning Coruscant. We started this morning with some disturbing Breaking News that reached the studio in the early hours and we are on top of that, trying to get more information about what happened to Tipoca City, the Capital of Kamino, that according to the lately reports it was totally destroyed. So far we don't know the amount of victims or if there are any survivors. If the Prime Minister Lama Su survived this attack. We are trying to find out more about it. But what we got so far, was that whole Capital was totally destroyed. We still don't know who did this and reasons behind this attack.
For those who are not aware, Tipoca City and its planet Kamino was the home planet of the Clones that for many years fought the Clone Wars against the Separatist during the Old Republic. After the Rise of the Empire, the Clones were replace by the Storm Troopers program by the Emperor Palpatine, and Kamino stop the Clone program.
Was this attack something relate to those times? We don't know.

Ines turn off the sound of the table and putting on top of the table, she looked to Rex who stood up and was walking back and forth.
"So they don't still don't have any clew who did this yet? Which means Thrawn didn't reveal himself so far," Ahsoka said.
"Are you sure it was him?" Aurea asked her.
"Yes it was him," Luke replied right away before Ahsoka could even replied. "Someone had to send the news about it had to get there."
"But why Kamino?" Noah asked, making everyone looked at each other.
That was the question that everyone was also wondering.
"Do you think that is something to do with the Clones or try to stop Kamino to continue to use that technology. After all they are the top of the top in that subject," Bo said.
"It is a possibility, but why?" Ines asked looking at her.
"He is going to pay for that. I can guarantee you." Rex said tapping his hands on the table. "He messed with the wrong people."
"Rex, we need to find out first the motives. Until we had more answers, we better act carefully," Ahsoka told him, but deep inside she felt sorry for her friend.
"Are you suggesting we do nothing?"
"That's not what I said," she replied.
"My home was destroyed. The home where not only me but all my brothers born. Do you know what that feels?" He said looking at her.
"Rex, we understand what you are feeling," Ines started making Rex stare at her.
"Do you Ines? I don't think none of you understands what I'm feeling right now?"
Luke sighed, he knew that Rex just did a big mistake at that moment.
"Actually there are people here who understand exactly what you are feeling, because Bo Katan also had her home was completely destroyed by the Empire during the Purge," Ines started but she was not done yet. "And I know that what happened to Kamino and Mandalore was horrible, but at least you can try to rebuild the city, and see if you can live there, because both of your planets still existed. Something I can't do anymore, because in case you forgot, mine was completely destroyed and what remains of it are now known as the graveyard. So I can't get back to Alderaan or even show my children where her mother born and grew up. So Rex, we understand exactly what you feeling right now," she finished, staring at him, while everyone stood in silence. Even Luke approached his wife and rubbed her back.
He knew that was a very sensitive subject even after 11 years of that event.
"Babe, Rex didn't mean that?"
"I know he didn't and he's right to be angry and upset. I get it, I still am, but he is not the only one who got through this horrible event. Millions of Alderaanians don't even have a planet to visit."
Rex sat down and looked at Ines.
"I'm sorry, I forgot. And I didn't meant to go after you. Forgive me," he said looking at Ines, who reach his hand and gave a squeeze.
"Rex, we will find out why this happen and he will pay. But we need to be more intelligent. Who tell us that Thrawn didn't do this, so we can freak out and be all over the place. To make us weaker."
"Ines has a point," Din replied. "If we started to go all over the place, we lose. We need to stay stronger, now more than ever."
"So what now?" Bo asked.
Luke stood there for a while and then looked at them.
"First we need to contact Leia. I'm sure the senate already know this, but we need to know what they will do next."
"I'm sure they will have an emergency meeting, for sure," Ahsoka informed him.
"And then?" Rex asked the Jedi Master.
"We need to tell Leia to convince the Senate to send some of us to check on Tipoca City. We need to see the amount of damage and try to find answers or some kind of clues about why this happened and why Kamino specifically."
"I want to go there," Rex said right away.
"I was not expecting any other way," Luke said tapping his shoulder. "So lets see what the Senate said and then we figure it out a plan."
Everyone nod, knowing that Luke was right. They just hoped the Senate would agree and with that they need to talk to Leia as soon as possible.
Grabbing the comlink device, Luke put on top of the table and try to contact Leia. Seconds later, the image Leia appeared and by the look on her face they knew already that the Senate already got the news they got.
"Hey Leia," Luke said right away.
"I was about to contact you but I guess you guys read my mind," she said and looked at Rex. "I'm sorry Rex. Trust me I know what you are feeling right now."
"I know and thank you," Rex nod.
"Leia how is everything in the Senate?" Ines asked her sister in law.
"As you imagine, is chaotic at this moment."
"I see the news already arrived there," Ahsoka said, which made Leia nod.
"Oh yes. Everyone started to walking around as the breaking news started to come."
"What is the plan?" Luke asked her.
"Of course we will have an emergency meeting right after lunch, since it is almost lunch time and many senators already went home, so Mon Mothma decided to call the meeting at 1400 hours. The ones who are still in the building will eat here. There is no need to go home for an hour and a half."
"Do you want us to inform Han?" her brother asked.
"I already informed him. He will be here after lunch and mother will be here with Ken."
"We were thinking to be there too, if is okay?"
"Of course. I was actually calling you to tell you that."
Luke glare at his wife.
"But we also are calling you because we need to ask you a favor, Leia."
Leia frown at that.
"What do you need?"
"We want to ask permission to go to Kamino and see the damage. We need answers and for that we need to go there and see with our own eyes. Besides, we need to know if there are survivors or even the worse, how many victims."
Leia nod.
"I thought the same thing. The Republic need answers and I think no better people to go there then you guys. I will suggest to Han, Chewie and you go there."
"Senator, I want to go. After all it is my home." Rex said right away.
"I knew you would want it. If the Senate approves then I'm sure the Chancellor will not mind who will go too."
"Thank you."
"You're welcome. I have to go. Today will be a very busy day for sure. See you guys later."
"See you later Leia."
The communication was cut and everyone looked at each other.
"I guess we need to do the same as they are. Eat lunch," Aurea suggested.
Looking at the time Ines nod.
"Dex employees are about to appear with the food, so I better go to the entrance waiting for them. The sooner we eat, the faster we go to the Senate," Ines said and standing up the left the room.
Indeed Leia was right, this day and the next ones would be very busy and chaotic, for sure, they all thought.
