Chapter 59 – Tipoca City
The Falcon was traveling into hyperspace for the past 3 days and were about to enter in the Kamino System, and soon Han, Chewie, Luke, Ahsoka and Rex would reach Tipoca City and see with their own eyes how destroyed the city was.
Apart from Rex, who born in Kamino, only Luke had being there a years ago, right after the twins born, so he could see with their own eyes the beauty of the city, that sadly was gone now.
Han came out from the cockpit and sat down on his chair.
"We are about to entered Kamino. When we landed what we are going to do? We need to have a plan, right?" he informed them.
For the past 3 days, they didn't really thought what to do when they reach Kamino and Tipoca City, mainly because they didn't know what they would expect until they were there, but deep inside they knew Han was right.
"Well for once, we need to call Coruscant and of course to our wives, as you know will not rest until we informed we arrived," Luke replied to his brother in law, who nod.
Every day they called to Leia and Ines, not only because they wanted to show them they were fine, but deep inside they wanted to see them and their kids, because they missed them very much, especially knowing they will be away at least a week.
"I know. But after that, what we will do? We don't know how much the city is destroy and even if we can get inside the installations of the clone facility," Han replied.
"We will try, and besides we have R2 here with us. Let's hope he can entered the system and get some information about what happened during the last moments," Ahsoka said and glare at Rex who was quite for a while.
"Rex, my friend, are you sure you are able to do this?" Luke asked him, rest his right hand on Rex shoulder.
Rex looked at Luke. For a moment he saw Anakin in him, since Luke looked so much physically like his father, especially in the blue eyes.
Sighing he nod.
"Yes. But even if I wasn't, I know I had to do this. I want to know how and if there is a reason Thrawn choose Kamino."
Then the Falcon started to beeped and Han looked at the control panel.
"We're here," he said standing up. "Come on Chewie, let's land this beauty."
Both went to the cockpit, being followed by Luke and Ahsoka.
Once they got out of light speed, they saw the planet in front of them. Flying into it, they passed the atmosphere, and once they got through the clouds, the whole cockpit was in silence. Not even Chewie was saying a thing.
What they were seeing was a city completely in crumbles. There were still part that were still burning, but the beautiful buildings above the ocean that once was the Clone facility, was completely gone.
Ahsoka looked at her friend Rex, and she felt sorry for him. Everyone felt.
After flying around to scanner the place, Han saw a small platform.
"Look we can land there. Chewie lets bring her down," he said to his Wookiee friend.
Growling, Chewie nod and after a few minutes, the Falcon landed on a landing platform that was still intact.
Once the Falcon landed, and they left the cockpit, the comlink started to beep.
"Just in time, as usual," Han said, while Luke put the comlink on top of the game table, and the image of Ines and Leia appeared, with the twins in front of them, cause they wanted to see their fathers.
"Hi Papa," The girls said at the same time, waving at Luke.
"Hello my sweet girls. How are you two? Are you behaving?" he asked, giggling when the girls looked at each other and then to their mother.
"Are we mama?" Alli asked her, making Ines laugh.
"What do you think?"
"Sometimes," she said looking back at Luke's image.
"What about you two, my troublemakers," Han asked looking at his twin boys.
"Sometimes too," Ani said making Chewie laughed.
"How about you, guys?" Leia asked. "How is everything?"
"Well you just call I perfect time, as usual," Han replied to his wife.
"You just got there?" Ines asked right away.
"Yes kid we just landed a seconds ago before you call us."
"And… How bad is it?"
Han looked at Luke and to the others, especially Rex who still didn't say a word since they arrived.
"It is bad, Ines," Ahsoka spoke.
"Do you think you can't even get inside or something?" Leia asked this time.
"We will try. We landed in a platform close to the entrance, we will try to get inside and maybe R2 can give us a little help and maybe we can get some info in the central computer. We know R2 can do miracles," Luke smiled tapping his little friend who beeped proudly.
"Please be careful," Ines said looked to her husband.
"Yes Papa. R2 watch Papa," Padmé asked, smiling when the little droid beeped, indicating he always did that.
"We trust you, R2," Alli said too.
"Don't you trust us," Han asked his niece.
"No," the girls said at the same time, making him laugh. Even Rex smiled at the kids.
"Smart girls," Ahsoka said smiling.
"Okay, we need to go and check it out. The sooner we do that, the sooner we get back home," Luke said.
"Okay, when you get back to the ship please contact us," Leia asked.
"Will do. Bye kids," Han said waving.
"Bye Papa," the boys said waving and sending kisses to their father, while the girls wave at their own father before the image disappeared.
"Let's do this," Rex said looking at the others, and nodding they left the Falcon, followed by R2.
Once they left the ship, they were able to reach one of the doors that gave access inside the destroyed building, but because there was so much damage, there was something blocking the entrance.
"Great, how we are able to get inside?" Han asked in frustration.
Looking at each other, Luke and Ahsoka smiled, and working together, they were able to move the obstacle that was blocking the door.
"See, is it clean now," Luke said looking at his brother in law.
"Sometimes I forget my brother in law is a wizard," he said looking at Rex who smiled for the first time.
"You get used to it," he replied.
"I don't think. I've being dealing with them for years," Han said tapping Rex shoulder.
"Are you coming or not?" Luke asked, while they entered inside the complex.
"See," Han looked at Rex and followed them.
Looking around, they saw wall crumbling, there was still small fires everywhere, many rooms were completely destroyed.
"They really make sure to not left anything standing," Han replied, getting a growled from Chewie.
"I know Chewie, there is no bodies too. What did they do to them?" Ahsoka spoke.
"My question is, how R2 will be able to get information from this?" Han asked, making R2 looked at him and beeped.
"We need to reach the main room first." Luke answered him.
"Then follow me," Rex said leading the way.
After walking towards the destroyed hallway, they reached the main room.
"It doesn't look good either," Ahsoka said looking at the destroyed room where there was sparkles everywhere.
Hearing a sound, they all froze.
"I have a bad feeling about this, guys?" Han said looking around.
"The facility is getting too fragile and I think we need to hurry or we will end at the bottom of the ocean," Rex said looking at Luke, who nod and looked at R2.
"My friend, you know what to do, right?"
Beeping, R2 went straight to the terminal, and was able to get inside the main control while things started to fall from the ceiling.
"R2 not want to pressure or anything, but you better hurry," Luke said, making R2 beeped.
After a few minutes that look an eternity, R2 show he was done.
"Good, let's get out of it, right now," Han said and right after he finished the sentence, the building started to shaking.
"I think this is our sign," Rex said and they all started to running down the long hallway, while R2 flew by them using his thrusters.
"Not fair," Han yelled, and once they reached the exit they only had time to jump to the platform in time to watch the building where they were seconds ago, crumbled into the ocean, making everyone looked at it, breathing heavily.
"Dejá vú from Yavin," Luke said.
"Don't remind me, kid." Han replied while Chewie growled.
R2 appeared behind them, beeping.
"Yeah we are fine, my friend," Luke said standing up. "Did you get anything?"
R2 beeped again.
"Show us," Ahsoka said as they all entered inside the Falcon as the ship lift of.
Once they were all in lightspeed, they made R2 show the data he was able to take from the main computer.
Seeing the holograms that the little droid was able to take, they were shocked of what they discovered.
Looking to the hologram, they were surprise to see Thrawn entering Lama Su room with man troopers right behind him and it was not a nice conversation.
"You can't do this. This facility exists for centuries. We are the top species of cloning. Our clones fought the clone wars."
"And helped to destroyed the Jedi. They did a good job. That is why I'm here." Thrawn said.
"You will never be able to create clones without us."
"Don't worry about that Prime Minister." He smirked and looked to the troopers. "You know what to do. Take all we need and destroyed everything and everyone."
"Yes Sir," and when Thrawn left the room, the door closed and the hologram ended.
"So that's Thrawn. Not a mister Universe for sure," Han said sitting at his chair.
"Now we know why they attacked Kamino," Ahsoka said. "He wanted the plans for cloning to create his own army."
"And why they also want my Alli," Luke said looking at Ahsoka.
"Imagine having an army of well trained clones and one of the most force sensitive person on his side," Rex replied too.
"Well that is why we need to stop him, and so far we are wining cause we have the crystal and we know his plans," Han said making everyone look at him.
"I hope you are right, but somehow I have a bad feeling about this, Han," Luke replied glaring at Ahsoka.
"We need to get back to Coruscant and reveal what we find out and elaborate a plan," she said.
"I agree," Luke nod and he stayed in silence thinking of what he just saw. Somehow he felt something was about to happen.
So now they know why Kamino was attacked. And what do you think Luke is feeling?
