Mike arrives home after school. Mike is 18, just three weeks away from graduation. His father has been trying to convince him to get a job, possibly working construction like him. Thus far Mike has resisted getting a job, now it seems like he has no choice in the matter, his dad wants to speak with him.

Dad: Mike, we need to talk.
Mike: Is it important?
Dad: Yes it is. I spoke with Bianca's father, he says she's pregnant. Be honest, are you the father?
Mike: That's what she said, but frankly there is no way I'm the only one she's slept with.
Dad: Be that as it may, you need to take responsibility for this.
Mike: I tried, I offered to pay for an abortion, she refused.
Dad: Her father says you tried to threaten her into abortion.
Mike: He's lying, or she is.
Dad: Bianca says you were the only one who slept with her, so she's willing to submit to a blood test. Apparently if it's her first pregnancy they can test your blood and prove if you're the father. As soon as you graduate I can get you a job at my construction company. It's not so bad, union wages, a good health plan.
Mike: So I have to do all that back breaking labor just because she won't just get an abortion.
Dad: Welcome to the real world.

Nathan Templeton is speaking with his chief of staff Jayne Murray. They are watching the news of the bombing in Virginia.

Jayne: You could use this to your advantage.
Templeton: I have long criticized president Allen as being too soft on foreign policy, this could be considered the consequence of that.
Jayne: More than that. How is it that the terrorists just happen to hit a ceremony that the vice-president isn't at?
Templeton: I'm sure the terrorists would have liked to murder Keaton. But there are multiple ceremonies, and he didn't advertise which one he'd be at.
Jayne: We could spread rumors, conspiracy theories accusing him of being involved.
Templeton: No rational person would believe that. Ask Fox News to spread it around, might as well rile up the ones who already hate Allen.

Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida arrive at the motel where Melanie is staying with her baby.

Melanie: Thank you for coming.
Jack: You have information about your husband?
Melanie: I know I've screwed up, I'll be lucky if I escape the death penalty. But my daughter, you can protect her?
Jack: We can give the baby to your parents, put them all in witness protection. She never has to know who you were or what you did.
Melanie: Okay, good. Aslan came to America.
Tony: Where is he exactly?
Melanie: I don't know. But he wants to stop the U.S. withdrawl from Afghanistan.
Jack: Why?
Melanie: Because the only reason the people there follow the Taliban is because they're all united against the occupation. America leaves, people don't want to follow the Taliban. Aslan and his faction want to do a major attack against America.
Tony: Less than half an hour ago there was a bombing in Virginia, returning war veterans and their families. Last I heard at least 21 confirmed dead, could be higher by now. So this attack you claimed to want to stop has already happened.
Melanie: Was Aslan killed in the attack?
Tony: They said it was a homicide bomber, didn't give his name.
Melanie: Aslan said he was going to martyr himself in an attack on America. So either he was the bomber, or he has something else in mind.
